What happened to the thread yesterday? I know pby schizo and minions from kdg dropped over 20 post late yesterday then the thread went dark. Anyway OP thanks again for baking /eag/
>>
>>220202149
I watched Bungee Jumping Of Their Own and it was garbage.
>>
>>220203681
Thanks. Wasn't on my radar but appreciate the warning.
>>
>>220203654
op here, i made the thread yesturday and played diablo, and hardly posted, so in many respects it was a success because a whole bunch of people were having discussions. people went to sleep and so did i, i woke up and went shopping and did some shite etc so thats how it went. i can't guaruntee to keep bumping threads and people are free to make these threads anytime, im no schizo dictator like in the other general.
>>
>>220203731
Ok thanks. I expected the schizo dictator to lose his shit, and he did, but glad to know he had no hand in killing this. There is plenty of east asian content for discussion and those that enjoy opinions and suggestions of other serious watchers.

>Resurrection
awesome movie, made me want to check Bi Gan's other work and not he's my third favourite east asian director
>>
>>220203897
You only watched one movie from him and he's your third favorite?
>>
>>220203731
What's with the amount of schizos on every board now? There was less drama on all boards when we had regular tripfags.
>>

Are you a gay or a woman, perchance?

4chan at times draws the attention of edgy weirdos and also there are alot of posters/lurkers that are now in there 30s-40s and if they haven't found a job/partner/life then they also can become increasingly deranged. we also have far more minorities posting too, not sure about the science but maybe they're also more schizo.

And why the fuck would you save and post this faggot
>>
>>220204271
But I like the edgy weirdos, we always had them and we sometimes are them ourselves. The schizo attentionwhore dictatorial weirdos are what concerns me. Tripfags back in the day weren't this attention seeking or annoying.
>>
I was already thinking this final arc was rushed and now they're introducing an 'overthrow the emperor' plot.
>>
I thought Resurrection was a huge disappointment, and reveals in retrospect how much his best work relies on the ethnographic element

I don't know if you guys only watch modern stuff, but can I get some wuxia recommendations? I think I like the style of the shows from the 00's the best. I have seen every Jin Yong adaptation from that era, now I'm looking for something else to watch.

The winner of Kinema Junpo's 2025 top: Two Seasons, Two Strangers. I loved it, shame the available rip doesn't have a better bitrate, but it was still stunning looking film. Reminded me of Ramblers although a bit more somber.
Older stuff that I also watched recently was French Dressing (1997), rather sweet movie given the abuse it depicts.
I really want to watch Resurrection, but I'm still hoping for it to be released on theatres.

Is criterion still the best catch all app for jap movies? I know Amazon has a ton of channels that have good stuff now too

In Bakudan (2025), Jiro Sato (a comic actor in endless bit roles) is a homeless ~bomber playing mind games that remind you of Heat Legend's joker.

If you prefer not to torrent, Criterion, MUBI, or Amazon are probably your best bets. But if you actually care about selection, you’re better off getting into a tracker like Avistaz.

WRONG!
It's honestly Japan > Taiwan > Mainland China > HK > Korea, and from there I haven't seen enough from other Asian countries to rank. But Japan is honestly top 3 worldwide filmographies, only the US can confidently surpass it and France fight it for the second place.

Hong Kong had a few good films in early 2010s but it was already in decline.
Protege (2007) was the last hk film i watched and really enjoyed.
I think HK did some really decent crime flicks by john woo and johnnie to and all the jackie chan/sammo hung/yuen biao stuff at the time was unmatched.

Very little recommendations on this thread baka. Japanese film threads might be 1/3 JAV garbage, but at least I get a few films added to my watchlist, this one has like 2 at best
>>
>>220213769
Imagine being this desperate for attention tbqh. If they “wanted to be ignored” you wouldn’t have entire threads arguing about their cinema every other week. Japan lives rent free in /tv/’s head because they actually built a film culture that isn’t just capekino and franchise sludge.

You don’t get Ozu, Mizoguchi, Kurosawa, Suzuki, Imamura, Tsukamoto, Kitano etc. by wanting to be ignored. That’s the output of a country that treats film as art instead of content. Cope.

Japan really fell off in live action after 2000. They had an amazing run from the 50s-90s, however.

Thanks, anon. Headphone Lullaby and Woman of Water sound promising. I also never got around to watching My God, My God, Why Hast Thou Forsaken Me? after Eureka because Helpless kind of killed my willingness to get more into Shinji Aoyama, but maybe I should give him another choice.

I got filtered hard by the looping segments from it, I can watch slow cinema, but slow, kind of surreal, and with several looping shots was just too far for me. Movie felt five hours long.
Thanks tho

any samurai kinos from the 21st century? I watched Blade of the Immortal and it was fun. Kind of a bloated, speedy mess tho. I'm not familiar with the manga but it felt like the director tried to cram a long story into a single movie.

Kitano's Kubi was very fun and funny, even if it was rather ugly looking compared to his more critically acclaimed work.
