I know what you mean. Rewatching it now, it does look "off" in some way. Cheap tv-movie but absolutely not.

I'm loving this so far though, I remember less about it than I thought. Fucking Jack from Lost is one of the leads? Awesome.

>>220233700
The ending is what divides people, I'm in the camp that it was great. Yeah it was slightly goofy but conceptually it's a perfect ending and I care more about that.

I think Brawl and Concrete are overrated, not bad but there's a certain amount of liberal self hate to the mythos of them.
Bone Tomahawk though is a certified banger. I hope he returns to horror at some point. Apparently he wrote The Littlest Reich which is funny.

I have to agree. It certainly ties into what it was going for. When the bomb went off, I was wondering if the immediate aftermath of that was Hell, as if they had all been transported there. In the end an abstract depiction of utter suffering and torture probably does more than an actual explicit depiction. It leaves the viewer with just a series of images and a sensation which they can then interpret.
>>
Rewatch 10 years later. This is a 9/10
>>
>>220244636
Is Wolf Creek 2 worth a watch? I really liked the first one
>>
In all seriousness, these thread have been infested with the wrong crowd aka faggots who just want to goon together and have barely any horror discussion, just posting of actresses and garish stuff characteristic of homosexual culture.

>>220244811
I admire its simplicity and Zahler's patience in developing the story, getting the most from what he had. True heir to Carpenter. By the way the same amount of time elapsed from his first movie to Drag me Across Concrete as it did from his last movie to now. In fact I think it's been like 60 percent of nothing in the timeline and it's increasing.
>>
>>220239990
Wolf creek is kino because it's a true story
>>
>>220244812
It's just as good, if not better. I might actually like 2 more. It lacks the shock-value of 1, because you know what's coming, but it's still savage

The "other realm" and noodly gods is a favourite of Shiraishi's, it pops up in a bunch of his works. I recommend watching the Senritsu series on youtube if you're looking for more, they're an hour long so more bite sized.

Yes, I saw today when I was looking him up that there's a bunch of them. He's had a really prolific directing career. I'm looking forward to getting familiar with his stuff.

the problem with wolf creek is that he's depicted as a rapist yet the movie cannot show sexual violence on screen (because jewish media is posited as an isis video - extreme violence, but not even a tit can come out) so you know that every action scene with a femoid is dictated by this understanding. everything in wolf creek is designed to avoid sexual violence.

Just watched Forbidden Fruits. It was better than expected, but felt more like a weird dark comedy (along the lines of something like Heathers) rather than a full-blown horror film. Finished the movie. Very enjoyable, and as has been said, it gets right into the action from the very beginning. It's essentially Micksploitation, just leaning on the character/actor for most of the film, more campy than truly tense until the final act.

I find myself siding with the villain's motives. Foreign cunts should stay where they are. Tour your own cities, fuck off from mine.

They starte filming this april, i hope he starts to do more.movies now, i liked a lot the three he has done so far
>>
>>220252750
Yeah bit of a chud leaning film, I doubt they'd make it now. Especially with the anti-cop opening and the lone wolf vs cop shootouts they've had.
Hopefully they can stick the landing on the third one.

Alien Resurrection was about as good as I remembered. It's on the goofy side but looks amazing. Ripley's universal soldier routine is pretty eye rolling but works by the end of it.
Might have to check out the directors other works, namely The City of Lost Children.

Yeah, best horror I’ve seen since “bring her back,” both felt spooky for long stretches of time. Some redditors identified with the asshole MC was in the first part, figures

Is this really a horror movie? The cover looks like a generic cowboy movie.
>>
>>220253947
It's a horror western mix, essential watching.

I forgot about Bone Tomahawk, I was specifically binge watching westerns and was surprised when this movie turned into a horror.
If anyone is interested in another good western horror, The Wind is very enjoyable.

From the episode I saw, it's not perfect by any means, but it's more watchable than the recordings on Youtube. Clearly Ai upscaled, more smooth looking rather than a crisp, sharp picture. But assuming we'll never get a true HD remaster using the original tapes, this might be as good as it's gonna get. If the Ai upscaling bothers you, just stick to the DVDs.

Starts off horror, then the horror kinda goes away, then comes back strong in the 3rd act. Also just an all-around great film.

I didn't like The Wind. Feminist "woman's trauma" horror isn't any better in the old west
>>
>>220254153
Yes I liked it.
Which reminds me that you can not trust ratings of horror movies from film review sites.
Horror is my favorite genre and I've found that the vast majority of good horror gets poor or average ratings.
Horror that gets praised within pop culture is like white people tacos, delicious and will hit the spot.
And horror that's loved by horror fans but gets review bombed is the actual good stuff. The authentic Mexican tacos you drunkenly buy from a food car held together with bungee straps, parked in front of some shitty rusting industrial warehouse, 3 am in the morning after leaving the strip club.

Brawl in cell block 99 has a similar structure, starts off as a generic crime drama and gets progressivly more unhinged with the setting changing from normal prison to basically hell

They waited way too long to make the movie. It's been over a decade since WC2. Plus I'm not optimistic about it having both a new writer and director.

rape being thought of as worse than murder is a jewish idea, and it's designed to weaken families, but i do get your point and it was funny
