Star Trek Pon Farr with Dr. Selar
>As noted in the section above, this episode is set during the Next Generation episode "The Pegasus". However, the actors who appear in both episodes – Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis – have obviously aged in real life since the TNG episode was made over a decade before this episode. As a result, the characters they portray also seem significantly older. Also, Sirtis' character, Deanna Troi, wears a completely different hair style and a uniform that is more blue in the earlier episode and more green here. Frakes and Sirtis are both noticeably heavier than they were in "The Pegasus" and Sirtis speaks here with a stronger English accent than she ever did in Next Generation.

People loved Luke relearning the force and building his Jedi Order. The same could have happened after The Burn. You could easily build a multi-season show about rebuilding the Federation.

How is your black father?>SISKO: There's no way the Muthafuckin Pimp Hand could get here so soon.>O'BRIEN: I didn't say I came on the Muthafuckin Pimp Hand. Tell me the black truth. Do you really believe that black phaser rifles will do any good against shape-shifters?>SISKO: You're not O'Brien.>O'BRIEN: Luckily, no. The thought of being locked in the black shape all the time. (shudders) It's unnatural. Don't bother calling for black help. It'll only cut short our black conversation, and I do enjoy your black company. (snigger)>SISKO: If you have something to say to me, say it.>O'BRIEN: You blacks. You are so impatient. I thought we could sit here for a while, maybe go to a black bar, have a black pint, throw some black darts.>SISKO: I don't think so.>O'BRIEN: Let me ask you a question. How many changelings do you think are here on Earth right at this moment?>SISKO: I'm not going to play any guessing games with you.>O'BRIEN: Ah. What if I were to tell you that there are only four on this entire planet. Not counting Constable Odo of course. Think of it. Just four of us, and look at the havoc we've wrought.>SISKO: How do I know you're telling me the truth?>O'BRIEN: Four is more than enough. We're smarter than blacks. We're better than you. And most importantly, we do not fear you the way you fear us. In the end, it's your fear that will destroy you.>SISKO: Are you finished?>O'BRIEN: Finished? (hearty laugh) We've barely begun. I'll be seeing you... Mr. Black.I get that the Dominion are supposed to be menacing but I feel they went a bit too far here.

>>220335581>SISKO: We were in the same class at the Academy. One weekend I was with some friends at a bar off campus, the Launching Pad. and Solok came in with some white cadets. He said they were doing research on illogical black bonding rituals. We didn't take kindly to that.>KASIDY: And you'd had a few drinks>SISKO: One or two. We got into a debate. Solok said that whites were naturally superior to blacks and other emotionally handicapped races. Of course I took the opposite position. So there I am, drunk and debating logic versus emotion with a smug and very sober white. Well, to make a long story short, I decided the best way to prove that black were every bit the equal of white was to challenge him to a chess match.>KASIDY: Chess?>SISKO: All I wanted to do was to wipe that arrogant look off his face, so in the heat of the moment I challenged him.>KASIDY: And?>SISKO: I ended up in the Infirmary with a bloody nose, migraine headache and a very bruised ego.>KASIDY: Oh, Ben, I don't mean to laugh, but what did you expect? A white has three times the IQ of a black.>SISKO: And they're better looking too. But you're right. I got what I deserved. And if it had ended right there, it would have been fine. But it didn't. Solok took every opportunity to remind me of the match. He used to point me out whenever I walked across the campus. In fact he wrote five psychology papers about our match. I became the living embodiment of why whites were inherently superior to blacks.>KASIDY: You don't mean he was gloating? A white?>SISKO: That's exactly what I mean. He may have hidden it beneath that white calm, but he loved every minute of it. And you'd think that once we graduated it would have stopped, but it didn't. Over the years, Solok wrote over a dozen papers on white-black comparative profiles and in the beginning of every paper is an analysis of that damned chess match!

Hear, hear!>NINERS: Hear, hear!>SOLOK: This is a typical black reaction, based on emotionalism and illogic.>SISKO: Did I hear irritation in that voice?>SOLOK: Certainly not.>BASHIR: That sounded positively defensive to me.>O'BRIEN: With a hint of anger.>QUARK: And just a touch of jealousy.>KASIDY: And a lot of bitterness.>EZRI: Are you always this emotional?>SOLOK: I refuse to engage in this black game of taunting.>EZRI: Black? Did I forget to wear my kimono today?>QUARK: All that intelligence and he still doesn't know what a human looks like.>KIRA: Captain. You were the one man who stood apart from everyone else, the one man who stood for justice. Now what?>ODO: Now I'm just another imperfect solid.>KIRA: Okay. The Prophets know I'm not perfect. I guess the truth is that anyone who lived through the occupation had to get a little dirty. But I need to know that no other innocent people died on your watch, Odo. That this was the only time.>ODO: I'm not sure. I hope so.Then the episode ends lmfao
>>220342784In "The Cage", when Jeffrey Hunter as Pike is fending off Michael Dugan as the giant Kalar Warrior, it is obvious that the supposed metal blade of the spear Pike uses to defend himself is actually made of rubber.
you imagine yourself as part of the opressors because federation values are too complicatedyou tell yourself that somehow, given the situation, you would be cardassianbut you wouldn'tyou have missed the point of the episode on purposeneed to construct mirages in your head to justify opression, genocide and rapeargue that those weren't real when they clearly arein the show, in the script, in the commentaryyou have nothing but rageand noone listeningcause you're trash:3
>over 20% of poststhey really are ridiculously overpaid
>>220344313Obvious rubber weapon props are pretty common. It's kind of like the rubber guns they used for pistol whipping scenes in Supernatural. You can see the Colt flopping around in a few of them.
Worst Bajoran? For me it’s Vedek Yassim>shits on a pretty sweet deal without thinking about it objectively for even a second >kills self

there isn't a single episode of star trek in 13 tv shows and 13 movies that agrees with genocide, rape or opressionit is a progressive franchiseand all you can do is yell on an imageboardchud
history is passing you by, not the big one but the personal kindno evolution, just angerand people like me who feed off it:3

spanning 7 seasons with a total of 176 episodes the television series star trek: deep space nine explores the subtleties of interstellar diplomacy and presents a strong case for the benefits of total genocide over forced labor. over the next 3 hours we will explore these ideas in depth.
>>220344496The Child? Just off the top of my head. That’s rape. I’m sure there’s a voyager episode covering oppression, and a TOS for genocide
>>220344608you can get payed for doing that, handsomelyunlike shilling star trek to three chuds, social sciences are real
>>220344340He's just doing it because he thinks its funny. It doesn't matter that nobody else does.
>>220344652there's a lot of Trek to watch and discuss, it is culturally important and spans decades, thus a great case study makes.you'd be hard pressed to find episodes written in agreement of but we can find more than enough scenes and episode to discuss with the wisdom of hindsight for years to come still.
You know what always bothered me. The location of alpha quadrant entrance of the wormhole made sense, the prophets being of Bajor and all, but why did the Gamma quadrant exit empty out into fuckall space for no apparent reason whatsoever? They never explained it. Sure there’s the nonlinear nonsense excuse, meaning the prophets killed billions by causing the Dominion war just so they could have Sisko in the right headspace to throw Dukat into a volcano. But that feels lazy.
>>220344746Nonlinearly, the occupation was simply reparations for the Bajoran Prophets glassing Cardassia.
Reminder that if you actually want a good /trek/ thread you can just make a thread about Trek games on /v/
>breaking continuity to commit perfidy>disregarding causality to justify war crimesdispatching captain braxton
>>220344832we dont talk about other boards trek threads here for fear our retards will spoil them.
/vg/ might have a spot, /v/ is too fast for three chuds to keep a thread alive but you're free to tryi'd love to discuss the games with warframe and final fantasy anonsdigital extremes' movie tie in is much better than you would think
>>220344928awful uniform
/lit/ too, there's some outstanding books and that board is about as slow as /tv/

based denise telling berman to go fuck himself
>>220345274I still think the Dominion was objectively a better ally than the federation. They were extremely interested in settling the animus between the Bajorans and Cardassians and were working to heal the scars of the occupation whereas the federation was more interested in culturally enshrining the occupation and hashtag NeverForget

>>220345412That’s canon anon. The Dominion wanted to make Bajor the poster child of its hold in the alpha quadrant. That was stated multiple times
>>220345471>That’s canon anon.like I said I'll read it once you put it up on AO3 or whatever
>>220345359thats very true. and since the bajorans are basically worthless and harmless they didnt need to worry about losing favor with the dominion and being punished. once they ended the fed threat the founders would lock down the wormhole and ignore bajor.
the borg got their redemption arc, the dominion should too
>namefag attention whores ruining yet another general
>>220345518they don't get an arc they literally just get redemption for no reason so there's not really anywhere to go from there
>>220345518They should show all the billions of deaths and planetary collapses that the dominion’s gamma quadrant influence waning caused. All cuz the federation mined a wormhole.
>>220345534the borg? i'm set to watch a curated episode list on their goings on with some friends on sunday, i've personally only seen scenes of the queens final appearance.from what i hear picard went hard on the jungian shadow angle and my trekkie friends enjoyed that arc
>>220345576no I mean the Founders/Dominion
the initial premise of ds9 is very strange. the cardassians withdrew on their own. they did not need the federation to defend them. there is no reasons for the federation to be involved
>>220345597last i saw from them was the ds9 finale with them surrendering for the cure to the morphogenic virus. did they get redemption somewhere else? if that's it there's a lot to talk about still, such as the if, when and how of the dominion dealing with their caste system.first officer on Starfleet Academy is a Klingon/Jem'Hadar hybrid which poses many questions, i hope we get to see more about that in season 2
>>220344652Both The Child and The Masterpiece Society accidentally make Pro Life arguments. You can show them to someone not familiar with Star Trek and say they were made as right wing propaganda.
>>220345651They had to send Sisko somewhere after he bottled it during the battle of Wolf 359.
>>220345678>last i saw from them was the ds9 finale with them surrendering for the cure to the morphogenic virushuhhhhh? I'm pretty sure they did no such thing. what I remember is Odo linking with them in some kind of effort to impart his knowledge of solids so they could be persuaded to not want to eliminate them from existence in principle anymore or something like that. they still killed like 20 million innocent people just because the female changeling was crashing out and ordered it so and never suffered any consequence for it.
>>220345696its not an accident. trek is explicitly pro life>Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds; to seek out new life and new civilizationssuch a mission does not allow for abortion.
>>220345651It was a weird setup. The Bajoran resistance “defeated” them but they seemed to have made an egress with time to spare. The Bajorans also had no real warships to speak of so it’s not like they defeated a fleet. It reminds me of the US withdrawal in Afghanistan I guess
>>220345731i'm iffy on the details, been a while. that leaves even more open story threads
>>220345742It really doesn’t jive with the internal logic to be letting microbes breed in the computer because they might be demonstrating intelligence but then turn around and go nooooo that’s just a clump of cellssss
>Star Wars aliens in Star TrekThanks JewJew
>>220345696The Masterpiece Society appeared to be against recemixing as well.
>>220345750the resistance did not defeat the cardassians. the cardassians decided to leave. its exactly like china putting people in the top in vietnam after the US left. it wasnt to protect them from the US. it was to force them under chinese control. in the case of bajor and the federation that would be a very big prime directive violation. and the problem is only made worse by making a starfleet officer a top bajoran religious official.
please clap
i love low budget trek
did they say in the show if it was actually Dukat who contacted the Dominion first or was it the other way around? personally I think the latter is better because I can imagine Weyoun 5 being the competent genius that he is recognizing the opportunity and Dukat's vulnerability and making it happen. then you know Dukat's ego is so huge it would be really easy to make him think it was his idea anyway.
>>220345894Dukat absolutely contacted them first because he was a rogue agent at that point in his life, separated from the government
you should play starfleet academy, chud, I think you'd like the andorian cadet
>>220345951yeah but he was doing his own thing fighting the Klingons, as far as we knew before that the Dominion wasn't on his radar. the Founders definitely would have known about his situation with their intel.
>>220345742pro-life, but in a post-scarcity welfare environment that attempts to minimize strife.
>>220345894all that really matters is thats when they decided to ruin dukat instead of letting his redemption arc play out and wrapping up the dominion war in 1 season when sisko finally admits that dukat did nothing wrong and the feds cardis klingons and rommies all team up to send those goopy perverts back to their degenerate shithole quandrant never to be seen again.
>>220345971also I dunno I just hate the idea of him going out of his way to be like>Dominion here's my idea I'll be your bitch and all of Cardassia can be your bitch if you just let me be in charge again because I wanna fuck up the Federation and Bajorthat's something I would hope he had to be kinda tricked into at least a little. y'know?>>220346000>Dukat redemption arctrips of total retardation
riveting action
>>220346040 it made sense given how Cardassia was fairing against the Klingons
>>220346188Dukat seemed to be doing pretty good for himself in his lil Bird of Prey he even was wearing trophies that one time
thinking about all those years that dukat knew he fucked kiras mom and he never said anything to her. truly evil. lmao
>>220346241He kept it secret until he knew for sure he’d missed his shot at her
>>220346291no it was until the writers decided to sabotage him. anything he does post-Waltz is really not worth talking about. him calling up Kira in the middle of the night to antagonize her was out of character.

>>220337692Sorry but denying it isn't going to change the fact that it's canon. The Burn could have been something neat and fun to explore but they had to make the reason be a stupid alien baby crying or someshit.
>>220348010I never denied anything.Learn to read properly and maybe you'll eventually get it.
>>220348227I don't know man, refusing to acknowledge it as canon is more or less the same as denying that it's canon.
