You see, when you post stuff like, say, images of a particular actress every single day while saying essentially the same things in conjunction, you end up outing yourself as a specific poster. Or when you lurk a general 24/7 while responding to practically every film that's posted with the braindead critique "duhhh dats woke" - that's another way to expose yourself.

Is this from that Friday the 13th knock-off? Bloody Murder or whatever it is. Never mind I looked it up and it is actually from Friday the 13th. Bloody Murder has a similar scene with an archery range. I watched it at a friend's house many years ago as his big sister was over and put it on. I said "this is such a rip off" and she said "shut the fuck up".

surprised how much I like Late Night With the Devil. kind of becomes a mess at the end though

Cabin Fever Patient Zero was surprisingly good until the latter half of the second act, and the entire third act, where it became apparent the director was intent on stretching the film past the 90 minute mark no matter what. There are a few scenes in particular that really stand out for being unnecessarily lengthened, sometimes it's even comical. Aside from that though it does not deserve so many 1 star and half star reviews on Letterboxd. Still a middling film but not a bad one.

>>220575404
Yep, for the most part that movie was great. I'll definitely watch it again eventually.
>>
>>220575451
The first Cabin Fever has some of the best body horror I've seen but the early 2000s humor hasn't aged well

>>220575404

>words
Which one? Pedofaggot? Did you get hurt? Idk lol
>>220577539
I mean, as an ispiration to Suspiria you can really see how they are linked though.
>>220577602
Visuals are goated yes, but there's also a lot of symbolism like the puma in the hotel room, the stuffed animals at the mansion, the cannibalism, the ritual, the pollution of innocent beauty getting in contact with the predatory industry. It has a lot to offer. Especially if one has seen Suspiria and can understand The Neon Demon better. It's a "horror" on the surface.
Also the camera movements, frames through mirrors.. Or think about how all the fashion enviorments are almost all white or cold lighted to symbolize their emotionless. The purple palette in almost all the scenes, with the spikes of blue and red (suspiria influence).
I thought it was a brilliantly realized movie. Not my favourite kind, but amazing to see and to rationalize.
>>
>>220577645
>Agreed but it's almost not even fair comparing Neon Demon to Suspiria tbqh
Refn openly said Suspiria was an inspiration to Neon Demon and honestly you can see that. But The Neon Demon is its own thing and took a different route luckily. Suspiria was great, I saw it before Neon Demon by coincidence and I think it was almost mandatory for Neon Demon total enjoyment.

That movie is insufferable, and I say that as a guy who likes Brian Yuzna. The protagonist is one of the most unlikable characters I've ever seen committed to a work of fiction.

The number of people who he gets killed just because he refuses to take responsibility for his own dumbass actions is infuriating, and he almost gets away with it all, if he hadn't done himself in with one last dumbass action.

That poor homeless black dude gets put through hell just for even bothering to try and help.

My ex had BPD, and honestly it has nothing to do with sex. You would think it does and I wouldn't blame you for it, but the reality is that it's a game of extremes. The bad times, the tim s where she acts like a complete monster, those are matched in equal measure by her just being an extremely fun and exciting person to be around at different times. She was easily the funniest person I have ever met, and just talking with her was more fun than the vast majority of other things I could do with my time, honestly including sex. She was smart with a slightly chaotic streak and whether genuine or not, she shared much of my interests but with enough of her own opinions to where it felt genuine.

As bad as the nightmare moments were, you start convincing yourself after a while that it's all worth it because nobody you met really connects with you on the same level. This is, however, absolutely not the case for anyone except their partner, because she'll just be outright fucking nasty to anyone who isn't you all the time. Sometimes you can gaslight yourself into thinking this too, is a perk.

Anyway, it's been over a decade since I've spoken to her and I have a good life and happy relationship - but she still shows up in my dreams and I think about her sometimes just because of those good moments. It's like a drug, it makes you forget the horrors.

I know what you mean about that good times being really good, because it would definitely be that for us kids too sometimes. A lot of laughs and highs, but then she would kick in your door the next morning screaming about something you said jokinly during one of the "good" times that you didn't mean anything by at the time, and she even laughed it off at the time, but had been quietly stewing over it for three weeks until it blows up in a random psychotic episode with no clear provocation. It made everything feel really unsteady and constantly uncertain, and you were sort of trained to never trust anything. Sure, times are good right now, but that rug not only can, but will get ripped out from under you at any moment.

I've spent my entre life locked in that state of distrust of anyone and anything, and it has fucked up my ability to form lasting relationships to this day. All I can say is that I hope those "good times" were worth it for him, because when cancer came for him, I refused to speak to him up to his death.

Sorry for the blog, but fuck it, this thread isn't exactly popping anyway.

Watched nu Faces of Death.
Honestly it was simply too mid, just like Psycho Killer. No wonder it didn't make a splash.
Feels like being mid is the biggest sin a horror movie can commit nowadays. It had no business releasing on theaters.
I actually liked the plapper main character and the villain, but for a Faces of Death remake it should have leaned in way more into schock value and gory shit, of which there is none sans the boxed corpse of the friend being dissolved in acid and I suppose the brain eating remake.

I watched "Lee Cronin's The Mummy" (2026). It was cheap. (Blumhouse, around 10 completely unknown actors, 3 locations, a handful of small, modest sets.) It was long, a fucking 131 minutes. I guess when you produce bulk streaming content instead of quality cinema entertainment, you get paid by the minute. So it just goes on and on and on.

I didn't like it. It was gross instead of scary. I also didn't like that around 25% of its too long runtime I had to read subtitles to know what's going on, because Cronin didn't hire English speaking actors.

That being said it's not a bad movie at all. Cast and crew are no amateurs and make very good use of the limited resources. The practical effects, the sound, the photography are great. I can see this movie earning its fair share of fans. I'm not one of them, but I would still recommend The Mummy 2026 to friends that don't mind gross "wet" horror films or reading through 35 minutes worth of subtitles.
>>
>>220595117

I really liked Camila Marrone in "Something very bad is going to happen" like the show itself was mid as fuck, first few episodes were good and than it just sorta lost the plot.

>>220595117
I had similar feelings. So many films lately are being destroyed by terrible pacing. It's not as simple as just editing them down, it has to be identified and fixed in the script. Worst culprits that made me want to scream GET ON WITH IT in theater:
>The Mummy
>The Substance
>Weapons
>>
>>220595208
Yes, and it's not just horror, it's other movies as well. When movies were still produced for cinemas, they had to be around 90 to 105 minutes long because cinemas have a schedule, they charge per show. Now it seems to be all done for streaming, and I guess the streaming providers ask "how many minutes do you have for my shareholder statistics?". It absolutely destroys pacing, and I also don't want to sit through it, except for maybe a few very exceptional, epic films.
>>
>>220595117
>2 hours is considered long these days

>>
>>220595208
i don't think weapons was too long, the other two absolutely. The main problem is not how long they are but how little content there is in those two and half hours
>>
>>220595273
I don't mind long films, they just have to justify it.
If anything horror should take advantage of a 1hr format. Milk & Serial and Chime are two recent ones I can think of.
>>
>>220595296
Dude, "The Mummy" is not Lord of the Rings, the story could absolutely have been told in 1 1/2 hours without losing anything.
