The day of the coronation, they leave the Red Keep to see Caswell's head on a spike. House Tyrell will protect their lord at Highgarden. Whatever goes on outside the walls do not concern her. She releases the gold, mentioning they have plenty of golden hands, no need for dragons. Emory is ashamed and leaves Highgarden to finish his duty. We see him again at Oldtown where there's even more troops about than Highgarden. We see funny bits of foreshadowing like Myles' being enticed by the gold but essentially it's a Hightower heavy scene. Emory is fading into the background, he's passive and quiet. He don't even see him leave the scene. We don't even see him for the rest of the season to set the tone that he's depressed and wants to hide away from his shame.

His leadership is why the battle wasn't completely one sided. I'd add a few touches like Benji being personally impressed by the regal appearance of Emory Hill to sort of parallel Jon's view of Jaime in early AGOT. This time it's a black haired highborn lord boy in awe of a golden haired bastard. Instead of Jaime being a dick, Emory is polite and treats Benji with respect before the battle.
