Since it's a given that GRRM will never finish the books, it presents a quandary for sequel series, as George will veto anything that tries to directly follow up on something he ostensibly hasn't finished.
Here's my solution for solving that:
A time skip, hundreds or thousands of years into the future. (The exact amount is irrelevant.)
We should be seeing a Targaryen in a modern setting, listening to hiphop, driving a Jeep wrangler in Dorne, exploring caves. His hair is dyed brown except for his blonde roots showing.
He comes across a dragon egg. It's warm. It cracks.
The series starts.
"X gonna give it to ya" starts playing over a panoramic view of the seven kingdoms and essos and the whole globe, finally revealed.

If Larys Strong had a stealth bomber with unlimited fuel and unlimited ammunition during the Dance of the Dragons, Westeros is basically doomed.

The scary part is that Larys is probably the worst possible person to give that kind of weapon to. Someone like Daemon would use it for intimidation and glory. Larys would use it for surgical assassinations.

He wouldn’t bomb armies. He’d remove the people who make armies function.

First targets:

* rival kings
* dragonriders
* Hands of the King
* important generals
* anyone who threatens his influence

The entire logic of Westeros warfare collapses. Armies, castles, and dragons matter because they protect people and territory. A stealth bomber ignores all of that. It can strike from beyond anyone’s ability to respond, and nobody in Westeros would even understand what happened.

Imagine the rumors:

“The prince was killed in his castle.”

“By who?”

“No one knows. The sky screamed, and fire fell.”

The psychological impact would be worse than the physical damage. Lords would start believing Larys has some kind of dark magic or divine weapon.

The Dance of the Dragons was already unstable because both sides depended heavily on key individuals. Remove those people, and the war falls apart.

Timeline:

* First week: major leaders begin disappearing.
* First month: both factions are terrified and confused.
* Within a year: Larys is effectively the most powerful person in Westeros.

The funniest part is that Larys probably wouldn’t even take the throne. He’d do what he always does: stay in the shadows and control whoever sits on it.

Aegon? Puppet.
Rhaenyra? Puppet.
The small council? Puppet.

The Iron Throne doesn’t belong to the person with the biggest army anymore.

It belongs to the crippled man with the invisible flying death machine.

I hate Mysaria. I hate her. I hate her stupid face. I hate when she is in a scene. I hate when she speaks with her monotonous voice. I hate the small council scenes. I hate it because they lie to me. It says I have a chance of hearing from other people who are not Mysaria. I hate that she talks about "the rightful queen". The rightful queen is Helaena Targaryen, but this is completely irrelevant to Mysaria pouting after Daemon has been mean to her and she has gone several minutes without reminding people that she came from nothing.

I hate her position as mistress of whispers. I hate that there are several insurrections brewing in King's Landing and she is too busy thinking about Rhaenyra's pussy to do anything about it. I hate that her reaction to anyone who points this out is to talk about "muh smallfolk". I hate that she spends half her time sniping at Daemon instead of doing her ostensible job.

I have resolved to skip every Mysaria scene. Every Scene. All of the Mysarimen scenes and the Mysarichildren scenes too. I hate her. I hate that they keep including her. Mysaria is very transparently a sounding board for Rhaenyra to vomit exposition about her current mental state and feelings that she otherwise wouldn't be able to share with Daemon, i.e. anything that doesn't involve being a megalomaniacal inbred Targnigger because that's all there is to their relationship.

The show has a fundamental problem with its cast of characters being so disconnected and quarantined off from each other despite it ostensibly being an ensemble show about a bitter civil war between branches of the same family. They've written it so there's three "main" characters (Rhaenyra, Alicent, and Daemon) that absolutely dominate the narrative at the expense of everyone else to a degree that isn't present in ASOIAF while only having a social circle of one to MAYBE two characters that they significantly interact with and never even acknowledging any relationships outside that sphere. Even then, their relationships with these designated characters are mostly limited to repeating the same character beats over and over while ignoring significant plot developments that would break the status quo because the writers can't have them out of position for the next story beat (NO ONE HAS MENTIONED JAHAERYS SINCE HIS MURDER BESIDES HELAENA ONE TIME) .

By rewriting the story so that Rhaenyra is the de facto protagonist, they've adapted the source material into something almost entirely plot driven in service of characters who have the least agency in the plot and removed any potential for any sort of interesting character dynamics.
