The characters manage to go around in a circle and ending up back where they started TWICE, and that's a perfect analogy for what the movie feels like, you just wish it would end. After all this time I haven't watched the lighthouse. I know anything about the film except for the fact that there's about two dudes isolated in a remote lighthouse. I watched George Romero's Season of the Witch, aka Hungry Wives, last night. One of those movies where you can tell right away it was made in the 1970s, you know what I'm talking about. Not terrible but not good either. Not much horror to speak of other than a few nightmare sequences. In the end, the bored, sex-starved housewife who's interested in witchcraft becomes a witch. Also blows away her asshole husband with a shotgun because she thinks he's the prowler from her nightmares...or was it intentional? That's more or less the entire plot. Apparently they changed the title to "Hungry Wives" to try and trick audiences into thinking it was a porno. That tells you all you need to know about this film. Also, the lead is the most mannish looking actress I think I've ever seen. She only did two movies and this is the one people remember.

"House on Haunted Hill" 2026 is easily my least favourite of all movies with the title. The house is not on a hill nor are the people locked inside. It is on a remote island with -- gasp! -- NO MOBILE PHONE RECEPTION AND NO WIFI! The victims are rich snotty influencer shit kids, the cast is diverse and tattooed, because of course it is. None of them can act, so I bet they're influencers IRL. The first death occurs 57 minutes into the movie. Up until then it's all about the shit kids and how they have relationship problems or wander about the island. When ghosts appear, it's not scary. They put a blue filter over the camera lens to let people know a scene is supposed to be scary, just like in the days of the silent movie. The kids turn into "cursed" (possessed) creatures for no reason other than the plot needs that to happen. All in all the whole movie makes the impression as if someone had typed "hey, ChatGPT, write a script for a horror movie with 6 young influencers on a remote island" and then hired a professional camera man to shoot it.2/10, at least the camera work and the editing were done by people who knew what they were doing. Cannot recommend this absolute amateur project.
