There's a longer play description online now. Autistic schizo Rhaegar is now my favourite Rhaegar.>Rhaegar has funded the tournament as a pretense to hold a Great Council that can depose Aerys, but has no real argument to present the lords. He assumes that those of high birth will understand his song being about the coming dark times, which is why they must get rid of Aerys. Elia advises him to present real political arguments to the lords and to start chasing allies. She suggests he dance with Lyanna Stark (just to gain her as an ally) and talk to her because she's a future Lady of Storm's End (they haven't made much progress on Robert). When Lyanna and Rhaegar meet, they seem spellbound by each other. Rhaegar discusses his dreams of dragons and Lyanna discusses her own resurfacing dreams (green dreams) that now relate to dragons as well. >The second half opens with Rhaegar and Lyanna having already eloped. [...] They're now in the Tower of Joy dressed like hippies, with both of them barefoot and in a basic shirt/breeches. Rhaegar says he has sworn off all prophecy and he's doing everything for love now. He burns some of his prophecy scrolls at some point. To me, he reads as going off the deep end, both he and Lyanna just seem much, much more intense all around in terms of the acting. Rhaegar's not associating any of his actions with the war that's going on, and cares only about Lyanna and the Tower of Joy. (He just kind of ignores the whole Aegon and Rhaenys thread when their position is brought up.) >I've seen people say that the play seems pro-Rhaegar because Lyanna went willingly with him and because of the fight, but as you can see from my description he's just... pitiable. He doesn't seem intentionally cruel or callous at any point, but he clearly had absolutely no idea how to play the game of thrones, then had a dragon dream induced breakdown and was living as a hippie without thinking about his family or Westeros.
