I thought it was dumb when Data fucked Tasha Yar in the beginning of TNG when he would never actually do that, but I'm not shitting in my diaper about it and saying the show was bad because of it. Also, the idea that Vulcans never/shouldn't get emotional is a red herring. Spok clearly got chummy with the crew in TOS, against his better nature, and this was juxtaposed by his cold behavior in Star Trek the Motion Picture after he participated in the Kolinahr. It'a not black and white.
