>>223080802>lace pattern across the pillow makes it resemble cleavageit's the little things
>>223080786Yeah but just movies that use found footage in that type of way- I know there’s the Blair witch project- but even something that isn’t supernatural like a creep moving into someone’s house or a wild animal
>>223080802I'm sure everyone here will be ready for it. They won't scramble around and squander it like last year... and the year before that.... I'm sure...
>>223080800>Paranormal Activity 1: 2
Finished One Missed Call (2003). Not bad. It WASN'T the movie I remembered, which makes me think perhaps I saw the ending to the sequel, which I'll find out tomorrow. The scene with the corpse of Mimiko's mother with her flesh falling off of her was cool. The significance of what the ghost sister of the male lead was trying to tell him still doesn't register with me, but that's alright.Bold choice to have the only nudity in the whole movie be some random woman's corpse near the beginning. Didn't get a nice tight angle on it either, what a shame.
>>223080760What movie?
Paranormal Activity 2: The Return of 1

Just finished. I'm not very partial to home invasion movies. I get impatient watching people tied to chairs getting taunted by murderers. In this one an Of Mice & Men kinda pair of brothers escape from jail and find the house of the DA who locked them up and take the family hostage. It's not very gory but the body count is surprisingly high.
>>223081468like I mentioned last thread, Kyle Richards, more or less the main character, was surprisingly cute though.

I watched "Lord of Illusions" (1995) after it had been mentioned here on /hor/ and found it decent. It's a real movie with a proper script, more locations and sets than just one house and real actors. It was directed by Clive Barker who also wrote the short story it's based on. The visuals and the "horror" (= gore) are reminiscent of Hellraiser. The practical effects look great, the very early computer graphics (textured triangles) not so much. But hey, the CGI only appears in one scene. I found it entertaining. 6.5/10.

I watched a film recently (I won't say which one because I don't wanna spoil it for anyone who hasn't watched it) but it kinda won me over on the concept of zombies that are deceptively intelligent.Like on the surface they're still the same groaning dumbasses that shamble around, but there's just enough brainpower left in there for them to make smart ploys. Not going for areas that could be of real risk to them, deliberately hiding out of plain sight in bushes, guarding points of interest that could be used against them like one of the only phones around or a gun store. That's fucking terrifying to me.

>>223099650>Why do you believe horror movies are supposed to abide by the rules of "pro wrestling?" Are you a child?you're too dumb to even get the lowest form of narrative entertainment there is, kek
>>223099720He only enjoys elevated pro wrestling
>>223099719>Young boy Roscoe (Emmett Eckert) is lured into a portal to Hell by the elder demon Dimwos (John Chatham), who raises him into manhood and teaches him dark magic as he does. As an adult, Roscoe (James Sizemore) mistakenly releases three demons Dimwos had been tasked with keeping imprisoned, and flees back to Earth, followed by the demons. Roscoe reconnects with childhood friend Eva (Ashleigh Jo Sizemore), who has grown into a beautiful woman. Roscoe and Eva must track down the three demons and stop them from unleashing chaos, violence, and Hell on Earth.
>>223099756good homebrewed makeup in this
>>223093922>>223093959Yes, the version of "Lord of Illusions" that I watched was 2:01 hours long.
I know a lot of people don't consider the movie to be true horror but the ending of Drag Me To Hell is something that genuinely haunts me in a way a lot of horror movies don't. Like how could that not be scary and horrifying?
>>223099828Who would ever say Drag Me to Hell isn't a real horror movie?
>>223099828>I know a lot of people don't consider the movie to be true horrorYeah I don't know anyone who would say thisit's fucking called Drag Me to Hell
>>223099843>>223099856I never see it mentioned in these threads and Raimi does do the kind of over the top splatter that makes it hard to take seriously. I've realised that I'm most scared by scary ideas rather than "heres somebody getting chopped up". A lot of so called horror can be avoided by simply not being there but the idea of an omnipresent threat (such as drag me to hell) is fucking terrifying. There's no escape. Same as the "spare some change for an old altar boy" in The Exorcist. The evil is there, was there there all along.
>>223099458Apathy and indifference in a movie are good things? My how they've subverted the newer generations into accepting the literal dogshit standards that have been creeping into modern cinema and tv production. Feel sorry for you, for you clearly seem like a man that lacks any taste.
>>223099978this is all religious horror, imo. I get so assflustered over stuff like Supernatural where characters can just beat up or defeat Satan/demons/angels/whatever. most fiction writers don't appreciate how insane their power levels are, like they can just blink and you stop existing.
>>223099978It does get kind of passed over, and of course it's got that Raimi silliness, but "horror" as a category is broad. What's actually scary to people is so subjective that it makes for a meaningless qualifier for something to be considered "true horror." It's the themes and concepts that matter.
>>223099682It's been on Tubi. Might still be.>>223099756Great throwback movie.
>>223099337But all problems can be solved with sufficient firepower.
>>223099775>>223100094I'll give it a watch sometime I guess
>>223100021I guess I'm a fan of religious horror. The angels in Supernatural were portrayed correctly for about 5 episodes after that everything you say is right. The angel telling one of the brothers he would smite him and turn him into dust...like you say it is about power levels.
>>223100109>omg art the clown is so scary>really?>pulls out ol' painless
>>223099978That’s the shit that gets to me too. That’s one of the reasons that The Mothman Prophecies sticks with me to this day. His conversations with Cold and Leek creep me the FUCK out.But didn't you ever just need to know?…. We’re not *allowed* to know.
>>223088081>>223088234You know the rules.
>>223099337Yeah, I like slashers, not horror.
>>223100236and so do I.
>>223100260you wouldn't get this from any other guy knawmsayin>>>/wsg/6230931
Anaconda animal sloppa coming up that may actually be worth a watchhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bz43DPD_1cg
>>223099682Thanks anon. I'll take a rook.
>>223100485I miss animal slop movies. I remember when it felt like you couldn’t go anywhere without hearing about à Piranha or a shark movie coming out
>>223100516Well there's still been a ton of shark movies recently. CGI is becoming slowly more tolerable but we still need more practical effects like Primate
>>223100485>animal sloppa>CGII'd rather see an actress covered in real creepy-crawlies than "attacked" by a fake snake
>>223100569Recommend me some, I haven’t kept up with them
mail call
>>223100621Which one are you watching first? The Satin Spider catches my attention the most
>>223100647probably Bo Ba Bu because it's never been released at all before, not even theatrically, but if we're being honest here, I've got dvds I've owned for 30 years that I still haven't watched so we'll just have to see.
>>223100686> it's never been released at all before, not even theatricallyWhat, it's a movie a studio produced and then locked away for decades until Mondo gave light to it?>if we're being honest here, I've got dvds I've owned for 30 years that I still haven't watched so we'll just have to seeAnon, you've got a problem. You gotta stop hording and start watching.
>>223100733I watch like 50 movies a month. Getting something on disc deprioritizes it because I know I'll have it forever.
>>223100605Primate and Deep Water are the big ones from this year.Otherwise in order of just sharks there was Thrash which is reportedly ok and then slop tier is The Bay, The Devil's Mouth, Above and Below and Chum.
>>223100770> Getting something on disc deprioritizes it because I know I'll have it forever.Prioritize them. The first thing I think when I get a bunch of movies in the mail is that I can't wait to watch them. That doesn't cause you more excitement than streaming random shit?
>>223100808nta but I have a bunch of classics I've put off and watched slop instead. I need to be in the right mood for a film.
>>223100808there's too damn much stuff I want to watch.my watchlist is over 4000 movies deep at the moment, and I can't even keep up with the theatrical releases coming out. I really wanted to see Idiots but its release was too limited. I have a feeling that if I wanted to see every single movie released just this year, it would take ten years.this October is going to be great, I'm going to try and watch only things with less than 100 letterboxd views and hit 100 movies for the month.
>>223100847>I need to be in the right mood for a film. The mood comes from within. Don't wait for it, manifest it. Get excited.
>>223100847>I need to be in the right mood for a film.this is very important. I've had picrel since 2002 and never felt like watching it but won't get rid of it because the DVD has a commentary track of the commentary track lol
>>223100686Based hoarder
>>223100877I've had around 5000 dvds at points but I did a purge because moving them around was such a pain but I'm still at about 1000 right now
>>223100784Thanks I’ll give them a watch

>>223100849>my watchlist is over 4000 movies deep at the momentYou're never going to watch them all and you're creating a problem that requires confrontation. You're sick, Anon. You need help.
>>223100916lol, if that's the worst problem I've got I'm doing great <3
>>223100929If that's A problem you've got, nothing else in your life could be great. I say this for your own good.
