this chick genuinely creeped me out. not just the face, but the movie really sells the fact that she's possessed by something dangerous.

Finished One Missed Call (2003). Not bad. It WASN'T the movie I remembered, which makes me think perhaps I saw the ending to the sequel, which I'll find out tomorrow. The scene with the corpse of Mimiko's mother with her flesh falling off of her was cool.
The significance of what the ghost sister of the male lead was trying to tell him still doesn't register with me, but that's alright.
Bold choice to have the only nudity in the whole movie be some random woman's corpse near the beginning. Didn't get a nice tight angle on it either, what a shame.

Just finished. I'm not very partial to home invasion movies. I get impatient watching people tied to chairs getting taunted by murderers. In this one an Of Mice & Men kinda pair of brothers escape from jail and find the house of the DA who locked them up and take the family hostage. It's not very gory but the body count is surprisingly high.

I watched "Lord of Illusions" (1995) after it had been mentioned here on /hor/ and found it decent. It's a real movie with a proper script, more locations and sets than just one house and real actors. It was directed by Clive Barker who also wrote the short story it's based on. The visuals and the "horror" (= gore) are reminiscent of Hellraiser. The practical effects look great, the very early computer graphics (textured triangles) not so much. But hey, the CGI only appears in one scene. I found it entertaining. 6.5/10.

Yo me too. I've never had a full-time job, ever. Always part time, enough to buy what I needed and pay for rent, internet and booze. That's all.
Now I'm going into this working full-time like baker hours.

It's gonna be fun, and if I fuck it up, fuck it.

They should make a film in the series about a mysterious grandmother put into a retirement home who turns out to be a murderous 30 year old with some advanced aging disease. Have the classic grandma doing backflips type of gags

About to finish Human Centipede 2 to get it out of the way. God, what a fucking disaster of a film. Genuinely can’t believe a movie this bad actually exists. Makes the first one seem like a masterpiece in comparison. Glad it’s finally over so I never have to watch it again.

Crematorium up top, so us working downstairs just got the remains. In bags.
>Here is the list for today

It was super cool though from that perspective, it was never any "fuck you" attitude. You just dig the graves and you bury the remains without any disrespect.
It sucked doing that work, and it hurts because you're digging deep holes in the ground to bury people. But you know. I didn't stay long.

I watched a film recently (I won't say which one because I don't wanna spoil it for anyone who hasn't watched it) but it kinda won me over on the concept of zombies that are deceptively intelligent.
Like on the surface they're still the same groaning dumbasses that shamble around, but there's just enough brainpower left in there for them to make smart ploys. Not going for areas that could be of real risk to them, deliberately hiding out of plain sight in bushes, guarding points of interest that could be used against them like one of the only phones around or a gun store. That's fucking terrifying to me.

As an adult, Roscoe (James Sizemore) mistakenly releases three demons Dimwos had been tasked with keeping imprisoned, and flees back to Earth, followed by the demons. Roscoe reconnects with childhood friend Eva (Ashleigh Jo Sizemore), who has grown into a beautiful woman. Roscoe and Eva must track down the three demons and stop them from unleashing chaos, violence, and Hell on Earth.

>>
>>223099843
>>223099856
I never see it mentioned in these threads and Raimi does do the kind of over the top splatter that makes it hard to take seriously. I've realised that I'm most scared by scary ideas rather than "heres somebody getting chopped up". A lot of so called horror can be avoided by simply not being there but the idea of an omnipresent threat (such as drag me to hell) is fucking terrifying. There's no escape. Same as the "spare some change for an old altar boy" in The Exorcist. The evil is there, was there there all along.
>>
>>223099458
Apathy and indifference in a movie are good things? My how they've subverted the newer generations into accepting the literal dogshit standards that have been creeping into modern cinema and tv production. Feel sorry for you, for you clearly seem like a man that lacks any taste.
>>
>>223099978
this is all religious horror, imo. I get so assflustered over stuff like Supernatural where characters can just beat up or defeat Satan/demons/angels/whatever. most fiction writers don't appreciate how insane their power levels are, like they can just blink and you stop existing.
>>
>>223099978
It does get kind of passed over, and of course it's got that Raimi silliness, but "horror" as a category is broad. What's actually scary to people is so subjective that it makes for a meaningless qualifier for something to be considered "true horror." It's the themes and concepts that matter.

I guess I'm a fan of religious horror. The angels in Supernatural were portrayed correctly for about 5 episodes after that everything you say is right. The angel telling one of the brothers he would smite him and turn him into dust...like you say it is about power levels.

Primate and Deep Water are the big ones from this year.
Otherwise in order of just sharks there was Thrash which is reportedly ok and then slop tier is The Bay, The Devil's Mouth, Above and Below and Chum.
>>
>>223100770
> Getting something on disc deprioritizes it because I know I'll have it forever.
Prioritize them. The first thing I think when I get a bunch of movies in the mail is that I can't wait to watch them. That doesn't cause you more excitement than streaming random shit?

my watchlist is over 4000 movies deep at the moment, and I can't even keep up with the theatrical releases coming out. I really wanted to see Idiots but its release was too limited. I have a feeling that if I wanted to see every single movie released just this year, it would take ten years.
