if you're looking for disgusting horror you've probably never seen, I recommend ASWANG (1994). a wealthy family of weird-ass, creepy vampires, these Aswangs (Filipino vampires that eat unborn children) subject a pregnant woman to a night of terror, in a Texas Chainsaw Massacre/Argento giallo final-girl kind-of way. It's a little rough around the edges but pretty solid, pretty gross. no wonder it remains so obscure. good luck finding it. worth seeking out.

Interdimensional being needs a perfect human host in order to possess it and use it as a way to communicate with and influence humans more completely. The people that worship it create an organized religion that it used as a way to amplify the group's plan to find a host. The plan is to create this man out of their own shared consciousness. They agree to what he looks like and what his origin story will be. He needs to have faced severe trauma in order to be at peak readiness for the god to possess him. The entire film we see with the protagonist is just him being led to the god's current host body that is failing. He's only been alive for a very short period of time, but the made up backstory the cult gave him when they summoned him made him believe he's a real person. The cult accomplishes it's mission, the end.

>I need to watch Mothman Prophecies again, haven't seen it in decades. Solid stuff.
it's in my top horrors. incredibly strong, fine-ass movie. and to think, upon my initial viewing of it, many years ago, in my teens, i disliked it because i was all like "but wheres da MOFFMAN!!?" because i wanted a goofy-ass, materially physical cryptid. so fuckin cringe of me. nah dawg, it's all about the metaphysical. Picnic at Hanging Rock is very metaphysical as well, but that's a very different vibe, which also makes for fine October viewing, in my estimation.

I just got back from the Sitges Film Festival, a horror and fantasy festival. I saw a few movies.

Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma

It had some good ideas, like reviving an ’80s franchise, the theme of the protagonist’s sexual preferences, and the meta-cinematic concept involving the villain. But in the end, all those ideas don’t come together into anything coherent that makes sense.

You're confusing story and plot, it's 150 minutes, not 180, and the ~30 minute middle portion of the film that's sandwiched between the two massive action set pieces, while still delivering tense scenes, serves as enough of a tension break. I loved the film for its intelligent structure, its incredible camera work, its brave manner of VFX spectacle, its contrasting scenes of violent action with questions regarding ethicality, and also its well-placed humor. A 10/10 for me.

Even an action movie has to make sure to keep the action exciting. It's clear early on that the guns do virtually nothing, so there's no stake in them shooting. There's nothing to accomplish. A lot of the times, the aliens aren't even dangerous. A guy will get flung 50 feet into the air, crash against a tree, fall to the ground, and then stand back up and say "ow"

>A guy will get flung 50 feet into the air, crash against a tree, fall to the ground, and then stand back up and say "ow"
It's pretty safe to say the Fassbender alien didn't try to kill the hunter protagonist in the scene you're referring to. It follows the shootout the hunter protagonist actively tried to avoid but broke out nonetheless because of the other hunters opening fire on the aliens. It's also not true that the guns can't kill the aliens, as is established at the end of the first altercation with one of them.

Done with Stickman's Hollow, I actually liked the movie a lot, until the last chapter that was way too stupid and disappointing, I don't know why I was expecting something like the sister gathering a big group of people to tackle the forest in search for the others only to end with a massacre, or after they just ran into the forest alone in the most stupid way possible to reveal something like the husband being part of a cult or something, I don't know, SOMETHING.

So I've watched Nightmare Sisters, a straight to video movie from 1988.

If you ignore the dumb intro, this was a surprisingly fun little low budget comedy horror, featuring three scream queens that were in a bunch of B-movies from the 1980s: Linnea Quigley, Brinke Stevens, and Michelle Bauer. It also features lots of tits and a great bubble bath scene that goes on for 5 minutes for no real reason. Not that I'm complaining.
>>
>>223896398
not the best but the kills are fucking awesome, probably the best in the series, no?

Yeah, it's about a fucking werewolf. I didn't watch Wolf Man, so I can't speak on its quality so I would say that this is the definite modern werewolf movie. Also, I like the twist of the curse persisting after death, that's a cool gimmick
It's nothing outstanding, it's a straightforward monster flick not down bogged in trauma/therapyshit. Complete use of practical effects as well, which is exceptional. I definitely enjoyed it and Deborah Ann Woll (ha), was the second to the monster as the movie's defining aspect.

One of the best things in Hellraiser is right before Julia murders the first beta schlub victim with the hammer and fully commits. They're meant to attract mates and reproduce when young. The loss of peak beauty shortly after this period is meant to humble them, so that they devote their attention to domestication and attending to their young children, thus fulfilling their function within the species.

Have you seen Argento's films? Evil Dead Trap is very reminiscent of them.
Unironically, the western film that reminds me most of it is Kolobos since it's about a death house and is also Argento worship.
