You mean schoolchildren? But it's bad because we're bombing Iranians because Israel told us so, not because they're an actual threat or even nuisance to the US (before the Strait of Hormuz debacle and even then it's our fault for pissing them off for no reason).

What was the last time you played a game that actually felt unique?
I think for me it was Pikmin, I didn't really know what to expect going in but I remember being really surprised at how new the experience felt.
It didn't feel like any other game at the time and not like I was just settling in another version of something I already played before but like actually learning something new for the first time.

Every online game is tryhard. It's inherent to the thing. People try to win when playing against other people.

Okay, but I mainly meant people who don’t go apeshit when things don’t go their way during a game.

>Star Wars Zero Company director has 'an axe to grind' with turn-based tactics, says fans don't have to settle for no story, crummy graphics, and clunky controls: 'Depth doesn't cost you elegance'

>Genre diehards might be content with even the spartan visuals of the original XCOM—that is, 1994 and not 2012—but Foertsch said he wants to realize the largely untapped potential for eye-catching graphics and immersive storytelling in tactics games.
>"I have an axe to grind with the genre," he said. "It's so easy for genre fans to wear it as a badge of [honor], 'Oh, the art doesn't matter, the graphics don't matter, the story doesn't matter. It's all about gameplay.
>"The gameplay is what it is about. But depth doesn't cost you elegance. You can absolutely have all those other things, and not to mention this genre in particular, you should have those things. It's a single player game."
>He argued that you could turn off all the upcoming Zero Company's fancy camera angles and the gameplay would still be "the same," but the extra oomph offered by snazzy production values improves the whole package. "Why do you have to compromise?" said Foertsch. I'm inclined to agree with him after playing the criminally underloved Marvel's Midnight Suns, a game Foertsch was art director on and a case study in how tactics games can have their cake and eat it too.
>Foertsch maintains that it's not an either-or, and he said he's not sure why or how fans got "conditioned" to think strategy games can't graphically luxuriate a little bit or spin memorable yarns. "We should have better stories, we have more immersion, we have better visuals … we're here to tell you, you can have both, and that's what we're planning to deliver."
>>
>>736345110

The games are even less related than Final Fantasy. Basically the studio is specialized in playable feels. They started with smartphone games but every new game is more ambitious than the one before and hits even stronger.
1, The Day We Found Earth is a smartphone game they ported everywhere else later. It is very short, the gameplay is very minimal. You need to find stars on a map with less and less help though you can play it on story mode. You get some short story beats after finding a few things. It can be finished in less than two hours if you use the built in help.
2, Rocket of Whispers is a smartphone game too (2D top down walking sim with minimal resource management). This seem to estabilish the framework for their storytelling later (memories are slowly revealed and reframe previous and current events). The story gets prominent and interesting, romance, sadness, learn to let it go etc. 4 hours tops.
3, Echo of Starsong is their first proper "game" game not targeting smartphones first although it is definetly compatible with them. Visual novel + resource managment with random elements. The Full Bloom Edition adds voice over. You will cry like a bitch. It is their first real success as far as I know. 12+ hours and has some actual replayability due to the RNG and missable events. The first two games are hard to recommend unless you want to experience everything but this is definetly a gem.
If Prism Peak will continue the trend (and it seem to be, at least graphically as it looks like a proper 3D story game now) it could be their strongest title so far.
