It's tedious to drive through in general, the dunes don't make for an interesting hub with how little happens in them save for being harried by the same two enemies between the wheelers and drones, and it's rarely ever a straight shot to the next area because, unless you're keen on saving it all until the end, you're incentivized to do at least a little green crystal farming between areas. The green crystals I think is the worst aspect, I do not think I've seen anyone trying to defend them: they require you combing the desert in excess and seem to exist for no other purpose than to justify the bike. And I actually quite like the bike, it's fun to drive, but there are better applications for it than this. I think if you were to remove the Green Crystal element in general people would be a lot more forgiving of the desert, but as is it's intrinsically tied to it. I think the desert could also be done with being significantly shrunken down to make it more dense with the bases/shrines to visit, or at least introduce other means of moving from one area to another without having to go through the desert every single time . By my count at minimum, assuming you know where to go, you have to drive across through Sol Valley 13 different times (more if you're collecting 100%), some other options for getting to Green Fury in particular would be welcomed, but because Sol Valley is the only way to get anywhere I think it's fair to look at it with more criticism.
