It's like self-updating mechanism, body says "okay, this part was weaker because it eventually broke, let's rebuild it stronger so it withstand the load". In that part where evil alternative versions of MC appears it's stated that they are all weaker than "main" one precisely because they never got their ass kicked to same degree.
