I don't think Leon having some fancy context sensitive melee prompts is comparable, and we don't know how those point blank finishers work. I don't really like the good guy route cause it kinda invalidates a lot of other endings by presenting the same return to normalcy desired in Gin and Yuzu's endings while still having the whole "taking the fight to God" angle from Naoya's. The edgelord route is just kinda dumb since they establish there's no need to kill anybody cause you can easily disarm people by breaking their COMPs, so it's edgy for its own sake. But it's not even fulfilling as an edgelord route because you don't actually get to kill any named characters besides Amane. Very mixed. I haven't done the Yuzu and Amana 8th days yet so no opinion on those.

You start with a short sword that pokes, you want a broad sword that swings. Hold shift and move the cursor over stuff to automatically use the appropriate tool. You do not need to have your tools in your hot bar, thats for weapons, have your weapon equipped and get used to holding shift. When you hear a worm stop mining and swing your weapon.

You want to be digging little caves of your own downward once you check the surface caves. A vital upgrade early is hearts you'll find underground to raise your max HP. those little enemies should barely touch your HP bar soon. then you snowball with better gear and more money. you want multiple houses soon enough, so NPCs can move into them. This is make 10X better in the upcoming update, where the npcs don't wait for empty houses to spawn and will show up to give you services while telling you they'll stay inside if you make them houses. you'll get great movement options soon. stuff like double jumps or wall climbing or fall damage reduction or movement speed buffs will be common early on. or gear like a grappling hook. once you can actually move around well the game is very fun to travel in.
