This entire thread is missing the point and somewhat disingenuous because when people complain about retarded localizers they're not complaining about slightly unfitting idioms or stuff being a little clunky. They're complaining about localizers cramming in stale memes, forcing unfitting modern slang/lingo, completely changing dialogue, getting translations objectively incorrect, altering the original text to force their own agendas or remove content they find offensive, or otherwise just actually fucking up their job. There is a genuine debate for how much a phrase needs to be localized to add the appropriate character or to make strange idioms fit better. Neither side is necessarily wrong. But that sincere debate is just a wall localizers hide behind to defend butchering another culture's work.
