For anyone actually playing the game I found controller layout E to be the best for me but I had to change to custom controls based on E's layout, I changed lunge/downward strike to X + Square since with default controller E's layout you can't keep charging a stock of magic and then lunge towards the enemy at the same time when it assigns R1 and R2 to both attack and magic and lunge/downward strike
