Ive been watching my roommate play for a bit. He plays the game not unlike the game journalist did at cup head. He almost cant handle the platforming alone, and stuggles to handle even the simple crawling enemies. The thing that fucks him up the most is these white flower pads thing, he literally cant handle timing his down attacks + air control to the next pad after he jumps. Is it really a hard game or is he just retarded? When i have girls over he autistically always wants to watch the bee movie, he mutters to himself and his words often devolve into grunts. And hes also like an accountant so its very localized autism/retardation

The game is hard. I say this as someone "good" at it. Not only is it pretty hard from a basic standpoint, it's shockingly brutal in terms of mandatory progression (platforming especially). A certain middle section of the game is just traight up "this feels like a small segment of THE hardest platforming section of the previous game", and gamers need to get past it to get some song for an elevator.

Diagonal pogo, which I love, also just fucks up most people even though it's fun as fuck.

Bro Dark Souls is fffFUCKING easy. Not kidding, genuinely an extremely easy series of games. Silksong makes my hands hurt. While you are able to trivialize combat in this game through certain tool usage, you can't really trivialize the platforming and that's where the true horror lies. I didn't miss pogos either. I did got eaten by bosses and gears DURING a succesfull pogo. Cause you sit there open for 3 frames before bouncing back and the gear has ample time to chew right through you. So it's not a diagonal attack at all, it still only works from the top. I didn't play HK till literally two weeks before Silksong came out.
Had wanted to, but never got around to it. Owned the game but just didn't install it to try out till Silksong got me to try and rush through it before Silksong.
Had a good enough time. Got all the way through Godhome and beat Pure Vessel fairly. But when it came to Pantheon 5, I gave up since Silksong was just about to come out. I already struggled enough to beat Pure Vessel. That was my finish line for the game personally.

Ended up 100%'ing Silksong fully though.
Though I did use save and quit in my Steel Soul run.

I can see a binding being dedicated to Shards and that you will probably only have 200 shards to start with if you do it, and you get very little after finishing a gauntlet as a mercy, but it means you can’t spam much.
That is assuming that there isn’t a red tool bind that doesn’t heavily limit what weapons you can use.

Crab man is easy but having a whole challenge tower before it with unique environments and enemies makes up for it. It does a good job of selling him as a warrior king. Plant lady on the other hand is just a dud. No build up, no gravitas, no sense of importance or scale. Especially because narratively it's supposed to be the strongest of the 3. Her attacks are basically in a rhythm so just "take turns" if you find yourself getting hit because you were focused on attacking her.

Also one more tip, if she does her claw attack and sweeps across the stage, you can attack once to parry, turn around and attack again to parry once more. You won't take damage. Probably best to just jump tge move but if you find yourself in a bad spot it's at least an option.

Just beat Lost Lace. Took me about two hours. I don't know how in a game with multiple kino "duel" fights with great music, they somehow made the "duel" final boss such utter dogshit with completely forgettable music.

Anyway, 100% completion, 72 hours total. Nice game, a little disappointing but that was inevitable.

I soloed Souls and ER without having a wiki open all the time lost most fags who boast about it, and I didn't hate those games nearly as much as Silksong. The bosses are great and have solid tells, but the actual platforming can be annoying because you're contesting against moving blades and spikes and vomit spewing monsters and enemies that bob and wiggle around solely to fuck up your trajectory and hidden traps and etc. Poking a spike on the wall resets you, it's all tedious bullshit. It's the tedium that's hard to overcome. The trailers made it look like this fun, agile, aerodynamic game, but it's all very stilted and annoying in practice. I hated it. Shit game I wasted my time on, Act 1 is the "best" because you think it will get better after nabbing all your upgrades so you have this feeling of positivity and anticipation, but then you get the upgrades and the game just continues to suck. Good bosses and art, nice characters, absolutely miserable and time-wasting exploration and platforming. It goes out of its way to not be fun. I enjoyed the first game but legitimately hated this one.

there's parry (defensive) and there's a parry silk skill which is obtained after beating a certain boss

The defensive one is "you attack an enemy as they are about to hit you" and I would genuinely rarely ever "rely" on it personally, I would say "remember it's something you can do". It's not like it will help you deal damage in most cases, it just saves your ass when it happens.

As for the skill, it works with a short activation window, and when an enemy hits you they get attacked back.
You've maybe seen some enemies/bosses do it to you. Flash white, take a stance--if you attack me you'll get punished. Hornet's parry attack is very safe though as she disappears during it.

Window is pretty healthy. You aren't using Royal Guard from DMC here

Most of the possessed bugs are attacking what they view as Heretics. Thing is, Sherma isn’t a faker. His devotion is real. While any other bug, including Hornet, is an attack on sight by bugs like Judges little Sherma was able to greet them.

When the cathedral was new it was meant to be a place to farm devotion in order to spin the magic keeping GMS sealed. The bugs guarding the shithole are still trying to enforce a fucked sense of devotion.

I did find it uninspired yes but the actual fight was at least challenging enough to make it mechanically interesting. I think my only issue is the teleport contact damage dice rolls it feels like you have sometimes which is more a general complaint I have with HKs combat system that I feel is exacerbating in Silksong with how much more aggressive you want to be on average. As far as the story itself goes the obvious yuribaiting with Hornet and Lace at the end was underwhelming with how little actual interaction they had but it was whatever, still a good game.

I will say one thing

The game does NOT ever properly explain to you that using the needolin is kind of "always an option". In the needolin tutorial, it is only shown to open doors. You have to experiment with it, and I don't necessarily think that experimenting with it is super obvious. Honestly, especially with the lumaflies. The lumaflies in the first screen guide you without the needolin, but every other time they move it is only to music and they otherwise just stay still. The game actually does NOT hint in any way that playing the needolin near them will guide you.

NTAs but my issue with the Needolin is it just doesn't feel as versatile or interesting as the Dream Nail. In HK the Dream Nail once you get it both offers access to lore, new fights and mechanically is a good way to get extra Soul easily. The Needolin meanwhile requires both Silksong's soul equivalent and doesn't offer any other benefits in combat beyond very briefly stunning some enemies in a way that's not really practical to use most of the time. On top of that there's many cases I felt like where I had to play the Needolin for dialogue, then have it awkwardly cut out since I didn't have enough silk, and then had to stand around until it recharged. It feels so oddly undercooked as a mechanic for a thing with a whole button dedicated to it.

Wildly unpredictable. There are 8 possible room layouts, some with odd numbers of exits. Exits have to respect each other spatially so leave out the top of one mist tile means coming up from the bottom of another.

At 3 points the mist will give you the halfway hallway, which always connects to a right or left exit. Never up or down. The hall itself counts as two correct doors, which would mean just leaving the halfway hall puts the score to 5 correct out of 7.

Final door to leave is a slave to right side exits, so bad mist RNG can for example give you an extra room by generating a room with no right exit the same room you first reach 7 correct points.

I think getting even 2 extra masks by Last Judge would be hard for anyone on their first playthrough not pixel hunting everything if even 1. well, this got significantly easier when i had the idea to go turn down the particle effects and screen shake. turns out when the screen isn't 90% covered in black vomit and you can actually kinda see what's happening, the ""difficulty"" goes away. got her in two tries after that.
overall a pretty lame final boss. p1 and p2 were piss easy, and then p3 had a lot of boring intermissions where you sit around twiddling your thumbs for like 15 seconds waiting for the waves to go by so you can actually engage with the boss again. hugely disappointing compared to radiance. and if your boss makes me go fiddle with graphics settings it's an automatic failing grade.
wish the game just ended in act 2, honestly. put karmelita in there somewhere and literally nothing of value would be lost.

I didn't hate it, and I can't say I loved it. I did like it, the only thing I don't like is that Lace isn't great, the Final Boss isn't great, and the ending is a biiiit "meh".

There's a lot of strong moments in act 3 and I love the idea of the world falling apart due to your own actions. I like voided enemies and I enjoyed not skipping shit and instead walking my way back to the start of the game from the end of it.

Using the harpoon instead of jumping to dodge the horizontal scissors was an idea I considered but dropped really quickly once she pulled some rocks behind her, moved back and did the scissors move.
I also forgot to mention how much I've come to appreciate the harpoon on this fight, you can basically stay on top of her 90% of the time (you have to drop down sometimes to dodge some stuff after all) scoring damage and stuns nonstop, it's amazing.

i dunno, i really struggle to see any positives in act 3. it's very clear that it was an afterthought where they just threw a bunch of cut content in and called it a day. it's narratively dissonant, the difficulty curve is schizophrenic, most of the bosses are really really bad (nyleth, khann, clover dancers, lost garmond, gurr, etc) and it ends on a disappointing wet fart of a final boss.
if it even half lived up to the inverted castle it so clearly wanted to be, it would be amazing, but the game needed at least another year of dev time if they wanted to pull that off.
i wish i knew what other people saw in it, because for me i just got bored halfway through the act and had to slowly chip away at it over the course of a week because it just wasn't interesting on any level and i could barely stand playing it for more than 30 minutes at a time.

The mist is properly haunted in the conventional sense. I don't know if they're leftovers from feeding Phantom or cast off souls make up part of the exhaust of the exhaust organ. But either way, they've been concentrated there.
And I can think of two reasons they'd help. If they have any will of their own then they may want to help Hornet to stop the kingdom that put them in that state. But they may also just be compelled by the needolin like how it can stun corporeal bugs and compel singing.
