Can we get a VtMB2 hype thread going? The world building looks seriously impressive. The devs had a singular vision and they delivered.Which bloodline will you be maining first, /v/?
good morning

Looks like it’s getting a lot of 7/10s.Sounds like a worthy sequel.
>>723544417hahahahahahahaha
>>723544553Name a game with better art direction.Pro-tip: You can’t.
>>723544553That's AI, right? Or sped up animations? This is genuinely some of the worst I've seen.
>>723544417delusional
>>723544645Animation with missing frames, because everyone is copying that nigger spiderman movie and the kpop movie
>>723544663The low rankings are mostly from toxic chuds reviewbombing the game because they can’t shoot women in the streets.
>>723544553Is this some technical problem with the recording?
>>723544938I just played it at 0.5x speed and the head still bobs around weirdly
Paradox has even paid streamers to play Chinese Room's other walking sim, "Still runs the deep" to try and drum up goodwill towards this turd. But all it does is show that the devs are incapable of handling this genre of game.
>>723544770>shill so mind broken he can't read
>>723543727>mfw walking sim devs resent having actual gameplay in their game
vtmb: yet another wod game flatlines toohopefully the entire wod ip will finally be put out of its misery after this.
It's gonna be grea- erm...it's gonna be...decent? At Gamescoom?
>>723545131You assume maliciousness where ineptitude will do just fine.
>>723545235Paradox already said they never wanna make another one of these and if VTMB3 ever happens, they'll lease it outGiven they are publicly traded nowadays, you're probably in luck and they'll shelve the IP forever
>>723545284They know VtMB is a cult classic.
>>723545284Believe me, the devs are better off with me thinking they're competent but evil
Abandonned the thread where you get shit on to start a new one I see, as usual.
>>723544703but that's clearly not what it is because there are no fucking missing frames you fucking retard holy shit. It's just handmade animation that is comically overaninated for a game with such a photorealistic artstyle. It is amimated as if it is a cartoon for kids, it looks like Star Wars: The Clone Wars
>>723545316I would to see the pitch from TCR that convinced Paradox to give them money, but now after seeing reviews and gameplay (or rather lock thereof) videos I suspect it was simply "please, we’ll salvage the game for a very, VERY cut rate price."
>>723544553You guys are laughing at the technical prowess, I am scratching my head when it comes to story. Not only "your dorky, unassuming waifu is the main villain all along" a really cheap twist, because that's essentially a twist from The Scary Movie, but played straight, I also have an issue with the Sabbat Tremere. After Revised, those fucks shouldn't exist, because the Tremere VERY thoroughly wiped them all out. Also, the Sabbat really doesn't give a fuck about the Tremere in their ranks, so they will probably try to kill them as well.
>>723544770>The low rankings are mostly from toxic chuds reviewbombing the gameShill-chan...those chuds are critics like IGN...
>>723545562>your dorky, unassuming waifuLiterally fucking who?

>>723545772Piracy is against the law and you could end up in prison.Besides, we need to support devs who make the games we love.
>>723545586Who the fuck knows besides the shills. Normal people don't care about that shit until AFTER they've played a game.
>>723543967I'm convinced you're an undercover marketer as you are in every vtmb thread and bump it every time. You are doing their work for free.
A cobbled-together walking simulator with a dead world and poorly paced linear narrative that’s unconvincingly pretending to be an action RPG. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is a disaster and not the sequel its legendary predecessor needed or deserved.>Pros+It can look pretty nice>Cons-Terrible pacing-Lifeless, empty world-Boring story-Atrocious combat-Plenty of technical issuesOHNONONONO
>>723544553>Unnaturally stiff animations while snapping to various poses in lightspeedDid they miss some joints while rigging the models or something? This looks fucking atrocious.
>>723545839The entire game has been spoiled and can be watched on Youtube. It's the supposedly detective "whodonnit" story with the most ridiculous answer you can think of.
Why didn't they just choose to make a good video game? Why wasn't that a choice?
>>723546024>lightspeedThe video is sped up.
>>723544553That is a man baby
>>723545865Disinterested third party here, he is right about the shill. I've posted in VTMB2 threads maybe a couple dozen times over the years and there was always that one dude desperately trying to pretend the game was gonna be good. I was gonna list all his talking points here but if you know, you know. My favorite recent one was "game doesn't need a Malk because Fabien is already that"
>'member that game you enjoyed two decades ago? Well we bought the IP and we're going to make such an atrocious dog turd out of if that it'll retroactively make you embarrassed for playing the first one

damn. even the no standards gamer girls are ripping this a new one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VX_gXQMZc38

>>723546393You can't gaslight me when the archives exist.
>>723546504>not be able to suck this game off. That's not even what he's doing because he clearly doesn't care, he's just copy pasting dev talking points and nonsensical shit from a notepad of gayass "convo starters" nobody cares about.´You're as delusional as the Chinese Room if you think he gives a shit about this game or your opinions. All he wants is fill the post quota and prove he made the threads so he'll get paid.
>>723544553These stiff, unnaturally jerky animations look like those parody video game mockups that are sometimes done for movies.
>>723546656Oh I guess you need some spoonfeeding. Sorry, here comes the airplane, open up!What I am getting at is that you're only selecting his posts where he uses a "this is bullshit" reaction image to determine his personality, because they're the only ones you know are from him. >>723547089lookin good
I will be playing it next week. I'm hoping for the best because I've liked a bunch of games that critics didn't care for. I liked Homefront 2. I liked VTM Swansong. I would have liked the Saints Row reboot if the writing had been better. The game's mid as fuck reviews are not a death sentence. The real test here is how the average gamer like you or I perceives it. Dragon Age Veilguard got good reviews but people hated the game. It's not apples to apples, but sometimes audiences view a game differently. Terminator Resistance got really good audience reception because people liked the writing and characters and atmosphere. Critics thought it was terrible.I have heard performance is ROUGH, though. Apparently it has significant traversal stuttering issues.
>>723545693That was when I knew it was fucked. Why would anyone at Chinese Room think it is a good idea to limit build variety. It isn't like it was to save time or money, since the game already has guns and you can buy any gun you want with animations for your game off the asset store for like $10/gun.
>>723547241>I liked garbageThen you'll love this
>>723546024>Prerelease build>Sped up>Compressed into a webm at a lower framerateDon't fall for bait this easy next time.
>>723545693>>723547252so is the entire game just running around punching people then with the odd vampire power?
>>723547194>Nooooo! I can only play 10/10 critics games!!!You're worse than paradox shills.
>>723546952But I haven't made ANY of those posts and I saved this image in 2019 with this filename, you stupid faggot.
>>723547194>Filters journosHoly based. This might be more than GOTY. This could be epoch-defining.
>>723547252The game has weapons. You can use any gun you find. The combat loop is heavily built around snatching guns from enemies. This is a design idea that originated in the cancelled version. As Chris Avellone noted on his twitter the game TCR have made has inherited a lot of design choices, decisions made many years ago.I think the issue is that they probably should have split this between clans. So that some clans are focused on melee +snatching guns with telekinesis. While others use swords and stuff like that. There's a kind of odd creative uncertainty that underpins the whole project.
>>723544553>they bite the shit out of each othermy kek
>>723547371No, you can use any weapon that enemies have. Shooting people is a major mechanic in the game, just like in the Hardsuit Labs version.
>>723544553That's GOTY right there.
>>723547527>decisions made many years ago.And none of them good.Shame they didn't have the balls or the creativity to come up with anything good.Ah well, not like anyone expected anything but a dumpster fire at a sewage plant.
>>723547371Yep. Only 4 enemy "types", but all just come down to punching. Most of the game is actually just walking though. The vast majority of missions are simply "go talk to this person across the map" with no forced combat at all. Before you think "well hey, so was disco elysium", keep in mind that you are being forced to walk back and forth the same long routes across the map each time, there are no build checks in combat, and choices only influence the story in a couple very obvious moments and even then in a Mass Effect 3 style where it mostly just changes who is standing where in a cutscene.
>>723547527>Use any weaponBut you can't keep them or reload. Or retain them when walking through doors or loading screens lmao.
>>723547740You can't carry guns between areas in mirror's edge or superhot, either. The whole point is that guns are temporary. This was a core idea in Hardsuit's version. This reboot has just inherited it.
>>723544553We're like peasants living in wooden shacks in the ruins of Rome
>>723547859>This was a core idea in Hardsuit's versionAnd that somehow justifies it or makes it less retarded in your mind, how??
>>723547859Doubling down on a bad idea doesn't make it good.
>>723547984You can tell they are Chinese Room employees anxious about the upcoming layoffs. They are no longer trying to shill the game as much as they are just trying to point fingers at anyone else to keep their jobs.
>>723543727Can't wait for this game to release so the retarded shill who has been shilling this garbage for months will finally fuck off
Yeah TCR made this game as low budget/low effort as possible to make this disappointment im surprised that paradox even kept going with this
Seeing the new shill talking points distributed now. The new narrative is that reviews are unfair because they reviewed the game as an RPG, when its actually an immersive sim like Dishonored.
>>723547683>walking sim developer makes walking simwish i could have taken bets on this
>>723543727>Bad Reviews from criticsMaybe this shit will be good, i will wait a week and for steam reviews
>>723543727WHAT THE FUCK MEANS "THE SIDEQUESTS ARE REPEATED CONTENT" YOU INCOMPETENT LAZY FUCKS FUCK YOU FUCK YOU
>>723548137Paradox owns the tabletop game now. They are willing to eat a bit of loss on the game to pickup some tabletop activity. Any new tabletop players are valuable because tabletop community spends obsene amounts on the hobby and the profit margins are astronomical.
>>723547420>>723547514>heh bad scores are good actuallyYeah and I like how it also looks like shit, lacks basic features of the original and is woke. All of those are good, right
>>723548298That's been debunked already. What they are calling repeated content is missions of the same type. Like there is an Assassin vampire who gives you various assassin contracts across the map. Retarded journos called this "repeated content" even though each assassination target is different. Just pure journo retardation again.
>>723548298Radiant quests like in Starfield. You'll NEVER run out of content. The game is INFINITE HOURS long.
>>723548458Yeah that is repeated content, dumbass. Unless there's a story tied to each one, it's just a random NPC you need to kill
>>723548458Seethe more, shill
>>723548298>>723548458The criticism is that the assassination targets are the same kind of mission, and there's no real narrative attached to make them interesting. A much better way to decide would have been forcing the player to track down the target and also weigh up whether killing them is justified. But the game doesn't do that. The side missions feel very undercooked in the same way the sidequests in Homefront The Revolution did.
>>723543727Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is the definition of a crying shame. Clumsy writing and flat, repetitive world design expose a handful of good ideas that never take root, while its poor technical quality and unstable performance will render it unplayable for some. The result is a half-baked, blunt-toothed action-mystery hybrid that disappoints at almost every turn, struggling to leave even the ghost of a good impression.GamesRadar+sounds like shit to me.
Like holy shit, it's not even that subtle.
>>723548449>Journos have impeccable taste and their word is gospel!Fuck off kike. The world is done getting their opinions from kikes.
>>723548469No, there's 3 sidequests each in-game night, and the game ends after 9 nights. It's not infinite.
>>723548458>That's been debunkedI'll take "things the shill can't go a thread without saying" for 400, thanks.
>>723548353>Paradox owns the tabletop game now. Don't they want to sell the IP after the one-two punch disasters that's been a new WoD tabletop lineup, starting with V5 and the slew of videogames that were mid at best, culminating in an apparent disaster that is BL2?This is Disney Star Wars level of incompetence in handling the IP.
>>723548605He's openly breaking the masquerade wtf are the camarilla doing???
>>723548516>Muh storyHoly shit they current state of nu-/v/. What happened to playing a game for mechanical mastery of it? Maybe its just a generational thing, but I do not care at all what "story" reasons the game gives to kill an NPC. I just want the challenge of killing them.
>>723545562>"your dorky, unassuming waifu is the main villain all along" a really cheap twist, because that's essentially a twist from The Scary MovieThat's the twist in Chaos;Child and weebs think it's one of the best visual novels ever made LMAO
>>723548561Reviews are heavily divided on the writing, I've noticed. Some people really love the writing and characters. Other people don't. One of the Baldur's Gate 3 developers tried to make the argument that "a game for everyone is a game for no-one" in the context of VTMB2. But it's easy to say that when your game is universally acclaimed.
>>723545586Look at the subtitles of that webm, the weird monster is this Tremere chick from the trailers
>>723545562I thought she was just pretending to be Tremere.
>>723548671>mid at bestSwansong was 2022 GOTY honestly
>>723544553>>723543727WHY IS IT HARD FOR THESE DEVELOPERS TO GIVE FANS WHAT THEY WANTED?WHY CAN'T THEY JUST SIT THEIR ASSES DOWN, AND TAKE NOTES AS TO WHY PEOPLE LOVE THE ORIGINAL AND JUST RECREATE IT!? IT SHOULDN'T BE THAT HARD! You don't need fallout 4/ deus ex man human resolution dialog choices and a voice protagonist. That wasn't in the original so why the fuck you would add it?!
>>723548814Swansong is an example of a game that could absolutely be saved if UE4 had easy mod support. The core of the game is really good. It has a good story. It has generally solid, if ill-tuned mechanics.
>>723548835Because Hardsuit Labs had a vision and The Chinese Room are bound by honour to make sure the game is every bit as shit as it was always meant to be.
>>723543727>Forced to play a character>Not only that, but an elderCould be the best gameplay of any game ever and I wouldnt buy. I want my own character, and I want to start from the bottom
>>723548941to be fair the OG fledgling got amped by Cain into being an elder too.
>>723548458HOLY SHIT ONE TIME THE TARGET WAS CALLED MIKE AND ANOTHER TIME IT WAS CALLED JOHNTHE AMAZING VARIATION
https://youtu.be/9PwvUtjRDD4?si=K9QfnEjjd3Iw-9btThis is what they took from you.
>>723548809No, she actually IS a Tremere, which is bullshit, because that means the notoriously paranoid Tremere can't keep tabs on their own.And apparently she's the leader of Sabbat in this region, which is double bullshit because that makes her even more notorious. Not to mention nobody at Sabbat would even allow a Tremere to hold any meaningful position in the sect. The Tzimisce will make sure of that.Tremere joining Sabbat is a death warrant for every idiot who thinks it is a good idea, because that this point Camarilla wants to kill you, the Tremere want to kill you and Sabbat wants to kill you.
>>723548975>I AM BEING OVERLY REDUCTIVE!!!Boom! Got em!
>>723545562She's Tzimisce
>elder vampire on predictable revenge plot mission has time to do side questsIs there a single solitary aspect of this project that doesn't read like satire?
>>723548835Chinese Room was hired to quickly make a functional game from the assets the other devs had made. Nothing more, nothing less. So they just made a generic AAA sloppa.
>>723548941Nah, better an elder than a thin blood faggot.I want to play a Methuselae wrecking havoc.
>>723549056Tremere can not keep tabs on their own. Thats the whole thing of current Tremere, the Pyramid is gone thanks to the second inquisition.
>>723544553Unironically, some porn animators have the same animation style. All porn animators are amateurs, btw. Look at the portfolio of some junior level animators, if you want to see the real deal.
>>723549113She's actually a Tremere. The plot revolves around some blood curse the PC has. Hey, I wonder who inflicted them with it. It turns out it's some kind of Safia keikaku to control Phyre and use them against the Camarilla and then have some even more ancient vampire possess them or something. It's stupid.
Its funny how all the defense of this game is just tearing down other games now. Does Paradox really think "That 2004 classic you loved was really shit!" is an effective way to sell the sequel?
>>723544553>Watched Arcane once
>>723549304So how did she replace the real Safia?
>>723549316Yeah, when anyone says it's a buggy and unfinished POS someone always chimes in with "just like the original LMAO".
>>723545772I actually preordered it, deluxe edition even, just cause it's bloodlines and I have fond memories of vtm from 20 years ago. But after seeing shit like this>>723544553 and watching other videos, I refunded it yesterday and bought Code Vein 2 instead, will pirate bl2.
>>723549235The Camarilla Tremere actually got their shit together recently and it's mostly back to status quo with them. They are even keeping track of those Carna retards hoping she will eventually kill herself. And there is some offshoot of Sabbat Tremere running around, but they are usually shot on sight like it's a hunting season.
>>723549316No, it's not an incorrect observation. Most sidequests in VTMB1 are not actually super different to 2. It's just that 1 does a better job of making them mini-stories. 2 falls flat there. If they wanted to focus on improving the game post-release making those side missions more narratively engaging would be a great way to do it.
>>723549242Have you seen some recent big weg releases? They shit all over that vomit chinese room did in animation department
>>723549095That is literally the complaint with the missions, shillnigger
>>723549048Don't pretend the old version didn't look like utter shit
>>723549242>All porn animators are amateurs, btw.>t. haven't seen any animated porn in his lifeI dare you to look at Noname55 and Tektah and say with a straight face they're amateurs
>>723549380She never replaced real Safia, Safia was a Sabbat plant all along. Which makes no sense lorewise, because that means she would've been New Mexico'd in the 90's, but sure, TCR, let's go with that.
The only thing that could salvage this game is if they included Rudi.
>>723549454A lot of the animation in BL2 is quite good. A bit stiff in places, but overall animation quality isn't a huge issue.
>>723549495Okay, that's odd, because the Russian who leaked about her being the twist villain claimed she had replaced the real Safia at some point, but maybe he just misunderstood.
>>723549486That trailer at leasts has character. The final game might as well be a free Unreal 5 tutorial asset its so generic and barebones.
People claiming to be excited for this run so contrary to logic that I outright refuse to believe they're being legitimate. It's like someone looking you dead in the face and saying "I love being in car crashes". No you don't. Nobody does!
>>723549420No matter how much camarilla tremere get their shit together, the fact is that their blond bond no longer is a thing, the opposite even. So no easy keeping tracks of fledgelings who want to do whatever with their powers. Also the Sabbath is so weak right now that having a Tremere is really not that far fethced. Better not have them around a Tzimiscy who knows at least a bit of history about their clans but that's it.
>>723548835>fallout 4/ deus ex they take a beloved franchise and try to dilute it and causalize it for the masses, this has been done many times successfully (commercially speaking...)bloodlines 2 only failed because it didn't came out in the 2010s but after bg3 and expedition 33it's astonishing how even game journos are calling it out as a bad bloodlines sequel, i think paradox underestimated how much bloodlines is loved by people but desu the primary reason bloodlines 2 is a massive failure lies in the fact they didn't get a SINGLE thing rightBloodlines 1 has a lot of substance, yeah sometimes it's stitched together like a frankenstein monster but the game is DEEPBloodlines 2 has no perks. It's mid in everything it tries to do. They should have picked 1 single thing and try to excel at it. Like if you wanted to do a Dishonored with vampires, give me deep mechanics and good level design with alternate paths. No? Then give me good side quests. Not even that? Then give me immersion and make as many things as interactable as possible and proper vampire simulation. Nope. Ok let's try combat. Sorry, it's a brawler where you punch the same ghouls most of the time and you can't even reuse disciplines without combat feeding. I can continue>gta with vampires?sorry small map with no content >tabletop adaption?no char creation, no skills, etc>sexy/funny characters?no>power fantasy a la prototype?enemies scale with you and you have 4 powers with no progression lulzetc
>>723549606I watched the leaked PS5 footage from a few days ago, and I really liked a lot of it. I thought the club sequence where the music is pulsing and all the patrons are swaying back and forth while you fight was really cool. It seems like a game with a lot of cool ideas. It's a shame to hear that it's an undercooked experience.
>>723549606>I can't have an opinion that differs from IGN!
>uuuhh, actually 1 was badWhat kind of a full retard marketing angle is this?
>>723549807Not surprising considering that current VTM dislikes what old VTM used to be.
>>723549807He's been pulling it for months
>>723546531>you can fuck people but it's a black screenI thought vampires don't care about fucking and it's just sucking blood that gives them euphoria?
>>723549918Depends, for a Toreadore it can be to keep in touch with humanity, which is very important for them. They can even enjoy it through Blush Of Life
>>723549807Well it's very weird that a bunch of supposed VTMB fans are criticizing the game for...*checks notes*...being similar to VTMB.
>>723549807vtm ALWAYS hated what Troika did with Bloodlines. they were forced to canonize b1 characters due to the game' success but always looked to undermine and make them lamer
>>723543727>hypelol, lmao even
>>723549918>>723549989I hate to say this, but Bloodlines 1 had fade to black sex scenes as well. Should they have done more? Yes. But there are so many small issues with 2 where it's like, "this is exactly like the first game". And it raises questions about what they should have done sequel-wise.
>>723549918White Wolf can't really make up their minds about it. Sometimes the vampires do fuck, sometimes they don't, it's inconsistent. But the general rule is: the younger the vampire is or the higher humanity score they have, the more possible it is for them to fuck.Which doesn't explain why Phyre, being an old-ish vampire wants to fuck, but whatever.
>>723550037I don't care about the fade to black, I wanna know about sex scenes. Don't remember VTMB1 having any, you just go off with people you seduced just to feed on them, without any benis in bagina. But maybe I misremember
>>72355003740% of VTMB's planned content is just plain missing due to failure to control deadlines. It's not in the same realm as VTMB2's pile of shit choosing to do that with all the time and money
>>723549807>make shill threads about bloodlines 2 which will be visited mostly by bloodlines 1 fans>shit on bloodlines 1 relentlesslyBrilliant strategy.
>>723550098>Don't remember VTMB1 having anyYou could have sex with Jeanette.
Collectors case is pure kino.
>>723547859>This was a core idea in Hardsuit's version.>>723547527>The combat loop is heavily built around snatching guns from enemies. This is a design idea that originated in the cancelled version. You could pick random weapons you found that weren't dropped from enemies and had a whole wheel where you could equip the weapon you wanted, thats a pure lie.
>>723550037Honestly it doesn't matter. At best you would get the BG3 treatment of we're showing stuff but not really actually, and that or nothing feels the same to me. Use that money on better character designs and writtings
>>723550098You get to fuck Jeanette. And it's technically a fade to pink. The unofficial patch/CQM allows you to bang VV, but that's y'know, unofficial.
>>723550037this can happen like 2 times in the entire game? i only remember jeanette and romero. bloodlines has sex and kinkiness splattered everywhere you don't need lame sex scenes like bg3 ESPECIALLY considering vampires in lore don't care about it.
>>723543727Soulless, uninspired garbage with everything fun and interesting that was present in Bloodlines 1 sucked out of it.This does not deserve Bloodlines name in it. It has nothing to do with the genius and timeless classic that is the first game. It's a shameless cashgrab, nothing else.

>>723550143>You could pick random weapons you found that weren't dropped from enemies and had a whole wheel where you could equip the weapon you wanted, thats a pure lie.No, you could not. If you wanted to pick up another weapon you would drop the one you were carrying. There was one melee slot, and one firearm slot. You could not carry a pipe and an axe. You could not carry a pistol and a shotgun. The game was specifically designed to prevent you playing it like a normal FPS, and was pushing you to use punching and abilities. Go and watch the footage. Every time they find a weapon it shows the icon to replace the weapon they have. You could not carry around a bunch of guns or melee weapons. You have one melee weapon at a time, which would break after a few swings. You could hold one gun, which would be dropped after its bullets ran out.
>>723550395>. If you wanted to pick up another weapon you would drop the one you were carryingSo you could pick up random weapons you found?

>>723543727>Can we get a VtMB2 hype thread going?
I finally finished 1 for the first time this year (I'm a retard who plays games for 2h and then gets distracted by other games) and the main thing it does well is the atmosphere. You can tell how seedy but also horrifying this entire underworld isIt definitely has not aged at all, it still hits perfectlyOf course, 2 has absolutely none of that
>>723550395You just repeated what he said. And that system sounds both fun and immersive. Way better than losing your 1 weapon every time you want to open a door.
>>723550418Yes, which you can also do in the current version of VTMB2. That never really changed.https://youtu.be/jAFUAEJXzyc?si=z9dsbUdHqpZXGIto&t=137

>>723550513>and the main thing it does well is the atmosphere. You can tell how seedy but also horrifying this entire underworld is2 does that as well, but I don't think it hits quite the same.

>>723543967>>723544013>>723543796Oh no how dare someone talk about a video game on the video game board. Someone tell the mods this is a general so we can get it deleted. We need room for another Pokemon thread.
>>723550529Hardsuit Labs actually did the cutscene animations.
>>723550608You were never going to "put it into your inventory to use later". That was never how the Hardsuit version was intended to be played. Guns were only meant to be used within the area you found them. They wanted to force you to not play it like an FPS game. You picked up a shotgun. Fired it twice, and then awkwardly dropped it. In fact, the way you dropped guns would totally throw off your combat flow. So they were punishing people who tried to use guns, and and the melee combat with hammers and stuff was super janky, and designed to stop you doing it frequently by having those break almost immediately. The idea behind it was that you would have guns and hammers and stuff, but they'd be so useless you'd be pushed to do more "vampire" things. Both studios tried to execute this idea. Based on the gameplay clips I think chinese room did it better than hardsuit did. But I have to assume the core design idea came from paradox.
So what's the excuse for not having MC just nuke the entire fucking city and be done with it? He's what, like gen 6?
>>723550812>Guns were only meant to be used within the area you found themSo I could equip a different weapon in the meantime? i.e. pick up a pistol and then switch to a baseball bat without throwing the pistol away? There are vampires in the lore who were old during the fucking Crusades.
>>723551241idk dude if I'm a bored 300 years old dude from the 18th century I would talk like a stage play too.

And we also know there was at least 3 generations there, Cain, his three childe, and those had at least 12, supposedly a lot more. So we're already at gen 3 thousands of years before Jesus christ. A few hundreds years old vampire could be very low on the gen

The great copening from shills has started.
>>723551760The Masquerade was established in the middle ages. No way a few hundred years old vampire doesnt know about it.8th gen is strong but not crazy at all. Pretty sure Jeanette is of a lower gen for example. As for the 'dont care what you say', entirely depends on which ponds you put the fish in. And what the fish does in said pond. A 9th gen is not going to survive a blood hunt of there are hundreds of higher gen sent on him
>>723551696>A few hundreds years old vampire could be very low on the genAs a Dark Ages player I can empirically tell you this is not the case. By default, your Dark Ages fledgling is of 10-11-12th gen. And that's the 13th century mind you. It's for the balance reasons, so that when you wish to transfer your medieval vampire to the Modern Nights, you aren't too OP among those 12-13th gens that are the default there. Granted, you'll be more experienced in various skills, but that's about it.

That's why London is technically unaffiliated, because nobody wants to bother Mithras with politics.

Now he's eventualy gonna get fucked by the Methuselah living in his head of course, but still. Also one thing that people dont take into account nearly enough is how trained the vampires are. A 9th gen can win against a 7th gen if the 7th gen fucked around most of his unlife while the 9th has been practising his art the whole time. In V5 context the lower the generation the higher your Blood Potency which affects a ton of things, but is also a double edged sword. At BP3 animal blood and bagged blood doesn't provide any sustenance, for example. On the flipside you get to heal more damage on waking up, roll for discipline check again if you failed the first time, etc.
>>723552492somewhat, but H5 isn't really like the previous version of Hunter in any way unlike W5 or V5

>>723552492Yes. Problem with H5 is it's effectively a THIRD Hunter game next to Reckoning and Vigil, but not as good at any of the things those two excelled at. It also got kinda bad sourcebooks that just add more, well, shit to the game rather than expanding on core pillars.

>>723549918It's not complicated. Vampires can and do have sex, now I don't remember if they NEED to cast Blush of Life to do it, but they can do it. >>723553274I believe we have accounts of scars pre-embrace still remaining after the embrace so chopped foreskin would fall into that, I think. Still, fair point on your end.

The game has cool/interesting characters. It has environmental variety. It has all the same types of locations that VTMB1 had. Overall, it's structurally quite similar, perhaps to a fault. Heck, the game's core mission structure is literally the 2019 Hardsuit demo over and over. I don't know why people haven't noticed this. Right down to the "go to one of three locations, talk to the people there".
>>723561508He is just talking out of his ass. The movement of most npcs in VTM is just preset waypoints, not random. So all you have to do is tell them not to walk in the roads. And you can put cars on a spline path. They don't need sophisticated AI. 20 years ago at least. These days I agree that cars are harder to implement since if they had shoehorned them in, there would be tons of webms of the bad car AI.
I wish projects like this would get honest documentaries. Like I want to see the whole true story told behind the scenes.
>>723556256I doubt any of those choices ever come up again. At best it's going to be like the backgrounds in Cyberpunk where you pick the Corpo dialogue option and V drops a bitchy line or two.

>hurr the game sucks just like VTMB1That's true, but what saved Bloodlines 1 was EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE COMBAT. The characters, the dialogue, the writing, the tone, the vibe, the atmosphere. Whatever you want to call it. The sleazy hookers and seedy bars, clubs, late-90s edge with a heavy dose of goth sluts. If Bloodlines 2 had hit that exact same tone and quality, with a dogshit combat system and janky tech, it would have been another cult classic flawed masterpiece.
>>723562897>implyingSexuality is WRONG and appealing to the male GAZE is evil anon. Instead we're gonna make everyone ugly.
>>723561682>go to one of three locations>talk to people there This only works if the game is directed by people who have a sense of soul, like Mitsoda. Just look at the early build. Every location. Every character. Every voice. ALL have their particular charm. ALL make me want to explore and keep going. The new tranny game doesn't have soul. Every area looks like shit. Trash filters everywhere. HUD is worse than some Korean f2p cod copycats. Characters are all ugly, non-binary, and very unforgettable. Even the cover box looks like AI-made shit compared to the kino one with the guy on the ferris wheel. My guess is Paradox was blackmailed to produce shit games so their value decreases and they get purchased by some Saudi consortium like was the case with EA or Ubishit. Too bad Bloodlines 2 was caught in the middle of that.
>>723560901This is the worst game that I've ever played more than once. Infact I've played alpha protocol 3 times just to get all the different ending contacts. The gameplay itself is tedious and clearly unfinished but the conversation system is better than mass effect and does impact major story missions. 00's obsidian was always a year or so away(with budget) from making genre defining RPGs of the decade.
>>723563148I think it would have found an audience and it would have turned a profit. But i also think that, since vidya dev is literally design by committee, you just can't get a whole writers room on board with that tone anymore. There will always be at least one dude with veto rights who just isn't "comfortable" that style and nobody has the balls to step on his toes(invalidate his feelings) so they all make concessions and in the end all the edge will be sanded off.

Getting a hooker for Romero or fucking him yourself, Heather who mistakes her addiction for love, Tourette, Fat Larry, Jack, Venus and Boris, Susan. That is the type of edge i'm talking about. Half naked hookers on street corners, alleys full of bums and thugs, club sluts sucking off dudes in dark corners, blood puppets waiting for you to seduce them who get bitchy if you don't regularly pay them a visit. From what i've seen of Bloodlines 2, the fact that Fabien can't shut up is already a deal breaker.

>>723550585The entire (main story) playthrough was posted. The Gardener is Gideon, who was Lou's (and impostor-Safia's) lover. He's trapped (?) in the underground, but he needs to be resurrected (which is what the mark was for; it's just bad luck the first vampire Phyre diablerized was Fabien), but he also physically exists and you kill him by ripping his head off. I must have missed something, because that plot point made no sense. The Sabbat are involved, somehow. There's secretly a MASSIVE Sabbet cell operating in Seattle, somehow, that no one noticed until Phyre starts investigating, and the rest of the cast keeps doubting you for like two nights even after you discover the Sabbat link.Impostor-Safia is just using the Sabbat, she's really out for revenge and to resurrect her beloved. But also, she's a genuine Sabbat loyalist???At one point, you're given a "choice" whether to Embrace or kill the local Second Inquisition leader. It's a false choice. If you kill her, your ending epilogue (which is a 30 second slideshow) is locked into the "SI kills everyone in retribution" ending. The secret hunter, "Santiago", is actually Campbell. Well, "was"; the achievement list leak is genuine, and he got killed by Fabien opening the box after Fabien arranges a meet with Campbell, trying to get a secret recoding of a confession so he can tip off a Camarilla Justicar. The script is a fucking mess. I only skimmed the playthrough, and the guy playing wasn't into RPGs, so he skipped a bunch of dialogue options and side quests, and never stopped to read codex things. But just by the dialogue and cutscenes I saw, it is a MESS.The weird white vampires that people were speculating might be wights are actually "Unbirthed" or "moon flowers". Gideon was creating them, somehow, in his underground death/imprisonment/torpor (I still don't know what his condition was supposed to be). Impostor-Safia's master plan is to unleash them from the underground. It's a huge letdown.
>>723567083>some good ideas>mostly a slogYup.
>>723568254I'll post more spoilers.Fabien is no one special. You get him out of your head by getting exposed to sunlight. Somehow, he's able to use whatever magical essence is keeping him in your head to sustain YOUR body as you crawl through a daylit city street and into a sewer grate. You then get one last conversation with him that's supposed to be a sad farewell or whatever. You never see his face. The entire endgame stretch is just a combat gauntlet, plus the cutscene where you confront impostor-Safia. NO other characters show up; you're just fighting everything by yourself. The gauntlet is in Weaver Tower. Impostor-Safia's master plan is to create a big pool of blood on the rooftop, which will somehow summon the "moon flowers" from underground. This is why the "weird animation" clip has so much blood: that's where you fight her.Ryong is (was; she gets destroyed by sunlight) really Lou's childe, and not a secret Lasombra. The story does practically nothing with the character. Even though impostor-Safia only has a place at court because Ryong vouches for her (Lou HATES Tr*mere), Ryong actually has no idea what impostor-Safia has been planning, or that she's an impostor. Girlboss Ryong is basically a retarded patsy. The reason Lou says her blood is singing in the "midnight" trailer is because Gideon has been remotely using Dementation on her for decades. This is why she stepped back from openly ruling. What effects did this have on her? Well, sometimes she spouts gibberish for a few seconds, then snaps out of it. It stops after you kill (?) the Gideoner. The Beckoning is never brought up, as a possible cause or even a thing that exists in this setting.

>>723548606If game journos give bad scores to tranny games, then you know that game must be really bad because usually game journos give 10/10 and blind praise to any girlboss game.Even when professional shills can't shill your game and they're ready to shill Concord, you know it must be terrible.
>>723572579I do wonder then if they never cared about feedback what was the whole deal with the year long delay to rewrite and all that? Was it just BS so they could get more time for bugfixing (given that even after all the delays its still in a shit place technical wise)
>>723572280>It really does seem like TCR got high on their own supply and started believing the bullshit that people actually hated Bloodlines as an RPGBut they're the ones that started that idea in the first place. Is it peak schizo? One personality started a rumor that the other personality picks up on? Spooky. I think that was a subplot in Hotline Miami 2.
>>723573054classic marketing gimmick (see star wars) to get people on board with the new thing, except it somehow escaped marketing and became the actual core of design. paradox is so mismanaged I could actually believe this happening.
>>723573054>>723573118Or probably its just the boring answer, as in the same narrative designers who designed all the black lesbian wheelchair grandma vampires in the game were also in charge of designing the gameplay. And rainbow hairs don't like games, they would much rather play walking simulators where you push a button to listen dialogue.
>>723571641Can already tell this is also going to be shit. >>723572593>fucking sense and isnt a pun? They only care for half thought out references of the 1st game. Literally people without an once of inspiration.
>>723572280Who said the hated Bloodlines for being a rpg? Thats the best part of it. I just think the TCR thinks they make high art instead of video games.
>>723573428>Who said the hated Bloodlines for being a rpg?Um, given that their sequel is not an rpg. And all of the marketing they did here stressed that it wasn't an rpg and that its a good thing its not an rpg, I think thats a reasonable conclusion. I don't know what's so difficult to understand here.
>>723573515>their sequel is not an rpg. That's all on the TCR. They only can make 1 type of game. Don't blame some made-up group who hates rpgs.
>>723548835Because they don't understand or care for the settingPeople that worked on this did it as another paycheck instead of being invested in something they personally wanted to do.
where are qt vamps waifus?
>>723572593Bet of Night was Amanda Huddleston's idea. She's just a fan of Deb and not an overthinking dork like you, this is how these things happen.
>>723573628>some made-up groupits not a made up group. The Chinese Room is an actual company who is working on the game. if they actually thought Bloodlines was a good RPG then they would've made an RPG>BUT THEY CAN ONLY MAKE ONE TYPE OF GAMEthey decided to stuff a mediocre action game into a walking sim. idk why ur riding their dicks so much. again, dont forget their marketing constantly stressing how bloodlines was shit and that the new game is better for ditching rpg elements
>>723571641I've watched some of the let's play run by these people, it's no surprise that everything they touch becomes the worst kind of woke possible, they managed to make vampires and mage uncool.
>>723573784>ur riding their dickslol. Its not a rpg because the TCR didn't try to make one and they hate Bloodlines. Nobody hates rpgs but clueless ceos and arrogant game studios.
>>723552059It was fine. It had a few cool moments.
>>723574026>arrogant game studiossounds like TCR to me
>>723573708That's really sad. Imagine having the privilege to work on such a cool thing and not caring at all about it. While most people are stuck working on boring shit creating TPS reports their entire lives.>>723573778Well Amanda can think of a proper pun for her radio show or GTFO from my table.
>>723573714>where are qt vamps waifus?Turns out they're all simps for some already dead guy and they're manipulating you to bring back their real husbando. Also you have to embrace an obese black granny or you get bad ending.>>723568254>>723569236
>>723553365>feeding is apparently, at minimum, equally as enjoyableIt's supposed to be way, way better. It's better than heroin—better than anything a human can experience.
>>723574240That's 100% V:tM desu
>>723543727When the Kuei-Jin returns then write. The rest is not interesting
>>723574517Kuei-jin are too offensive to the Swedish Larpers, so they are never coming back.
>>723553365As a vamp you don't have any sexual impulse, and feeding is more than orgasmic. They can appreciate the human form in an intellectual way and can play at seduction and the like very well, but they don't usually fuck. But some weird vampires still like to spend one blood point to have their genital organs functioning for a while and fuck. It's used as a tool for manipulation, but mostly as a fetish - some vampires just like to do that. It's seen as kinda unclean and unseemly (what kind of vampire fuck!?), but also if you're a 6th gen who the hell will tell you to stop raping little boys in your basement as a passtime. It's a "eww" from other vampire but not a "get the flamethrower" like Diablerie is.
>>723569236>Somehow, he's able to use whatever magical essence is keeping him in your head to sustain YOUR body as you crawl through a daylit city street and into a sewer grate.
>>723574823Why do they have tails?inb4 "why don't you?">>723575056The best part is, Fabien is never demonstrated to be able to "do" anything before that scene. He's just a voice in your head for the entire game up to that point.
>>723573778God forbid creative decisions have more depth than a surface level reference. Fuck you, retarded shill. There's a reason this IP is failing hard and it's shit like this.
>>723574823Fuck your game, got it!?
>>723550130>the shill is already stealing pics from reddit.
>>723575215"A radio show needs to have a wordplay title" is forced as fuck.
>>723551398Are you really doing double time on the fucking subreddit?
>>723575729Those Vns are better than bloodlines 2
What's up with groypers and Trump first election refugees here always posting ragebait instead of discussing videogames? You guys unironically need to have sex, and I mean sex with someone who wants youNot a hooker you paid because you are unloved and a genetic reject.a lot of bottled up anger and misdirected frustrationYou want every game to fail, every movieYou celebrate and enjoy nothingJust absolute unfiltered faggotry. The game is mid thoughbeit
>>723574823racism has no justification even in a fictional genre, idiot.
>>723575474>forced as fuck. The theater of the masquerade is the whole point of Vampire the Masquerade.Without the intrigue of Plausibility vs Paranoia making player's second guess everything around there's no allure or substance to the strangeness of the setting, it just becomes Underworld, a flat yet bloated drama vaguely about vampires.
>>723574823>Kuei-jin They are so awesome but I wish they weren't so *90s*, you know what I mean? Like so much 90s, ugh.
>>723575898>reposts shit from reddit>this fact is made known>spergs out and starts crying about drumf and projecting his own bullshit
>>723575474They could've just called it Late Night With Amanda, don't try to make a reference/pun unless it makes sense
>>723543727imma buy to give thought to my criticism, its going to be shit but i need to know how shit. like is it going to be veilguard levels of identity politics bad?
>>723576305>buywhy not pirate it
>>723550734Third reply to this post and all you can do is cry that people call you out as a shill.
>>723576154>They could've just called it Late Night With Amanda
>>723576305nah it seems to be just a really shit game made by incompetent moronsit's not veilguard level of both incompetence and malice, there is precious few transgender POC of colors in it, it's just absolute shit
>>723576305I assume if there was something like the non-binary scene it would've leaked already. So far there's just the terribly animated ending cutscene.
>>723576305>imma buyKill yourself shill.>b-but i said it would be shitYeah you still said you would buy it you pathetic faggot. The whole point of you being here is to say "LOOK AT ME I AM NORMAL 4CHANNER AND WILL BUY GAME"
>>723576154Because all this garbage has is nostalgia baiting, but its a double edged sword since with nostalgia baiting comes people comparing it to VtMB which they really do not want.
>>723576435They could have called it Huddle with Huddy.
>>723545537That's almost entirely what happened>Hey we know you have this project idea>we'll finish it for cheap (probably)
>>723545537>>723577594It's already public knowledge that Sumo at least partially funded continuing development, and that Paradox were about to cancel entirely before the offer was made. So yeah, this is probably exactly what happened.
>>723578335TCR is also saying that Paradox held a pretty tight leash on how they wanted the game to turn out so this just seems like everyone is responsible for the trainwreck
>>723576365i want to hate it genuinely. i want to hate it on a fundamental level and have a justification to kill people who say they like this game.
>>723578607But you are giving the devs and publishers money
