They were neat at the time, but ultimately, they were obviously just a way for valve to show off the physics. Incidentally, the most memorable aspect of HL2's physics ISN'T those puzzles, it's the more random, organic ways in which players would end up using the physics system to their advantage, e.g. the gravity gun. My point essentially is that having cool physics is good, but only if it's implemented in such a way that allows the player to create their own fun, rather than being forced to sit through valve's idea of a fun puzzle. I would also remind anons that alyx had the exact same idiosyncratic physics puzzles so valve could show you how coool their new engine was in vr, so I fully expect to see more of that shit unfortunately.
