Crew is up. To join either send me a tell or when you make your character, click the notice board, go to the events tab and find an event happening on admiral island (there will be a lot) and whisk there. From there click the top right to access the map and go to the palace under government buildings, it'll be easy to meet up there.

We have a war frigate when people are ready to go.
>>
>>739021867
Yeah the game is full of bots just stowing away on ships now not doing anything but still getting cuts
>>
>>739021991
how many can fit on the frigate?
>>
>>739022125
75. More than enough to fit everyone.
>>
>>739022173
>>739021991
Wow I was expecting a much smaller ship to start. I thought we'd be on a rinky dink.
>>
>>739022215
I was trying to get a bagh but no one was selling, I'll get one made later.
>>
What the fuck even is this UI, is Jobbing the guild chat?
>>
can i say nigger in this game?
>>
>>739022263
Jobbing is temporarily joining the crew for a job. Crew is crew chat.
>>
>>739022297
No but the role of the person who does the rigs is a rigger, so you can be an absolute rigger if you want.
>>
i played this when i was like 10. im surprised the games even still alive.
>>
We'll set sail in 5 minutes, anyone else wanting to join can send Honeyapps a tell and you'll be able to join mid voyage. Feel free to keep doing tutorials or learn as you go on the ship.

it's a fun game
old people can play it too
but i got bored when it locked me out of too many things as a f2p
>>
>>739021154
>>739021991
Bros? Aren't we too early? Weren't we supposed to start tomorrow?
>>
>>739021154
This is a blast from the past, how is this game nowadays?
>>
>>739024038
Pretty much the same, like its a time capsule in stasis.
>>
>>739023875
No, we always start new games saturday night.

>>739024038
It's similar but way less people. Bots are still prevalent and mercenaries kind of killed blockades but the core gameplay is still fun.
>>
>No Annoucement/post was made
No Annoucement/post was made
>No Annoucement/post was made
No Annoucement/post was made

You wankers need to chill out, quickshotting your load this early will make late anons unable to join your fuckass crew
>>
>>739024110
Why no one talked about it in da thread then? Back at Hellgate/Icarus it took a few hours after the vote before we all started
>>
>Anon fail to coordinate
>Half of us are lost
>UI sucks
>Don't set up a departing date
>Stuck at Marine ship and unable to join anon's ship
Retards. I am glad we didn't vote for HH, y'all are just unable to coordinate properly

do we really need 50 npcs?
>>
So basically brawling = sorta puzzle bobble and sword fighting = sorta tetris?
>>
>>739024651
Why there's 20ish buns aura farming in the main deck?
>>
>>739024651
Nah it's why we're downscaling to a smaller boat
>>
>>739024519
There were a few things that happened. First, there was no need for a server vote for puzzle pirates, there's only one viable server. Second, no one cared about pictures in london which is usually the final step before starting the new game.

>>739024287
>>739024580
Read the instructions post >>739021991 that gives you the details on how to join. You can join a voyage mid progress. Reach out in the thread if you're having trouble. It's really not that complicated.

>>739024651
We're swapping to a smaller ship, someone got us a better match.
>>
>>739024819
So the NPCs are unavoidable? What if our crew gets too big?
>>
is there no way to pop chat out? also I went home how do I get back onto the voyage? going to have to get used to these panels
>>
>>739024994
We're on a smaller ship now so its fine and you can have multiple smaller ships with multiple voyages, or just one big ship.
>>
>>739025018
Yeah the thing bothering me is I cant seem to chat when doing puzzles
>>
>>739024819
Damn nobody went on Hellgate for pics?
>>
>>739021991
>>739025018
Send a tell to Honeyapps to get invited to job on the ship. Once you're invited to the crew you'll be able to join our ships by going to the dock.

>>739025078
No way to pop out the chat, there is some way to chat during puzzles, I see people do it, but I don't know.

To get to other islands quickly you can go to the noticeboard, then events, look for any event on the desired island. The current ship is at Aimuari island docks
>>
>>739025127
They did, anon is a lying fuck >>2470179
We had a picture and last dungeon run planned TODAY, and the Pirate anon just ignored it, trounced the voting and setup process and started without us, when a huge chunk of the anons were doing instances, pictures and fucking around at Hellgate. That's what got me surprised and confused, we weren't supposed to start now.
>>
Can someone sell me their account? Paying real money for it
>>
>>739025315
If they had pictures in london, I didn't see it. My bad. I didn't see a post about it in the main thread. I didn't make the thread though, I just saw it and made the crew so people had something to join.

This is about when every game I've played has started though.
>>
>>739025450
Discord me at Knightmind76
>>
>>739025489
Not talking about you anon, ya gucci, you are making do with what you have, my issues were with the anons making early threads and dumping it, when we still had content planned today in the main hellgate thread, most anons playing hellgate today weren't even aware that puzzles would he coming now, the ppl at /vm/ fumbled the ball hard
>>
>>739025315
What does this even mean every new game starts at sat 7pm est
>>
>>739025315
I'm not sure what you're talking about. The game started at the same scheduled time as every other, and it was mentioned in the main thread multiple times. This thread was also made at the scheduled time. We had a poll for the guild's name yesterday already, and the reason we didn't have one for the server (which would also have been yesterday) is because there is no real choice. Everything is regular here.
>>
>>739025586
Yeah I didnt either, saw the thread was made and the crew was made and that they were setting off and panic joined
>>
>>739025780
Yeah there's only one instance of the game I can find, some people talked about Puzzle Pirates Replanked but searching it up, it doesnt seem to be a thing at all. And Emerald is the only free to play server. So its a no brainer.

Ship's docked at port for now. Most people are taking a break.

If you want to play more, check out the navy missions if you want to practice puzzles or the voyages tab and apply to job for a crew and earn some money.

Thanks for coming lads. We'll get better next time.

blast from the past
i got #1 gunner once

now i can't load a gun for shit
>>
>>739028506
any tips? gunner was hard loading that shit is a mess. I end up just dumping a lot to get rid of long grouped up items. does that affect our inventory though?
>>
man, fuck some of these puzzles. sailing was fun though
>>
>>739028748
no, it doesn't

just find a board where you can cycle all the objects between the 4 cannons and load each gun individually
>>
>Can barely play the game if the captin isn't online
Kinda sucks, my schedule more or less guarantee that I will never be able to play with you guys
>>
>>739028748
I struggle with gunning the most too, its the unpredictable movements
>>
>>739029238
Well you still can in that you can find voyage postings on the notice board which is also playing with others, then you can other people online in the crew to join you. Unless your schedule is so messed nobody will even be online.
>>
Best to worst puzzles so far:
>Patching
>Carpentry
>Sword Fighting
>Rigging
>Bilging
>Sailing
>Brawling
>Gunnery
>>
>>739029459
agree on everything but gunning
gunning was the best for me becuase you could laze for long periods of time if there was no danger
>>
Let's try all joining the same voyage tomorrow. Running our own ship is pretty hard.
>>
>>739030463
Yeah I think we ran before we could walk

patching is p. fun

oh my fucking SOUL
>>
>>739032923
Well it is really old. It pretty much has the same amount of players as most old ass MMOs from that time.
>>
>>739033032
It had a big population boom during Obsidian, at its peak it was ~500-600 during blockades, although take a fair chunk out of that for multiclients and bots. Then during COVID, a lot of boomers came back to PP (at that point Obsidian was dead and everyone moved back to Emerald).
I won't say never, but it's very unlikely YPP gets a third...fourth? fifth at this point? wind. Ever since the SEGA buyout of OOO, it's been on maintenance mode where 99% of updates are just ways to milk people with gacha boxes.

>>
>>739046213
Clothes are purely looks
Swords affect drop pattern in swordfighting, but this only matters vs players
Bludgeons affect hit patterns in brawling, again only matters vs players
Mugs affect bonuses in Drinking (parlor game, not important)
The only other dustable items (aside from badges) that matter are rowing kits for Kraken hunts, the three that matter are Bomber Kit (not needed if you're unfamiliar with KH), Speed Boat (for experienced KHers) and Bumper Boat (IMO the best one, not just for newer players but in general)

Wow I genuinely didn't think the Puzzle Pirates team would be responsive seeing as how the games like 20 years old and in stasis and has like 200 online.
>>
>>739051834
Maybe there's a thing that automatically deletes new inactive players or something. I didn't get an actual response, just launched the game and it let me create a dude with the same name again.

Anyone that can invite to the thing is on?
>>

The guild?
>>
>>739051834
For a long time it was just a bunch of old women holding the cushiest retirement job you could imagine. Log on for 5 hours a week, ban someone in global, board a random pillage for 10 minutes so people think you're doing community outreach, then collect fat paychecks from all the gacha boxes your playerbase buys.
I don't know if they've hired a full new team but apparently they actually put new content out relatively recently with the mercenaries and some updates to monsters. Aka the literal bare minimum they could do after a decade of nothing.

>clothing has degrading now

This is horrible. I hate how they've ruined my childhood.
>>
>>739058424
Wtf are youtalking about? It always had degrading.
>>
>>739058424
>now
As of 2002? Sure.
The only things which don't degrade are ships and their supplies (rum, cannonballs). Anything held on a player degrades each login day. Furniture decays one stage each time you place it.
>>
The whole gameplay loop revolves the fact you have to afford the upkeep for all the shit you own, clothes, furniture, weapons, etc.
Yea, that gets old FAST.
>>
>>739058786
The upkeep cost is really tiny though. Unless you're running around with black/black clothing, most things are relatively cheap especially if you ever go into a blockade that pays 9999/segment. One blockade round will give you enough PoE and dubs for a month+ of clothing. It's also purely cosmetic so the cost is solely up to you.
I agree that having swords degrade is a problem because they serve a purpose, but honestly it's not that bad. Without degradation, the main material sink in the game wouldn't exist. It helps the economy stay fluid.

>>
>>739059152
Charge shots, I assume you're not charging and comboing and just sending sprinkles
https://yppedia.puzzlepirates.com/Rumble
>>
There's not enough feedback as to how what I'm doing is actually affecting the boat. Feels less like I'm working on a boat by doing puzzles, and more like I'm doing puzzles, and a boat is just existing in the background.
>>
>>739059152
Spamming in rumbles is bad. Your damage comes in two forms. Sprinkles occur when you break a color and other unconnected balls beneath it fall down. But the main way to deal damage is by holding down left or right click, sticking the charged ball to a clump ot 3, and then building up more and more charged clusters. Then pop the FIRST charge you put out and it will pop all subsequent charges you've made. This sends a strike at your opponent - the longer your combo, the further down the punch goes. Having a large cluster stuck together will also make the strike wider.

Brawling has a mechanic where the longer a game goes, the more bruised pieces come onto your board. So if you are just spamming nonstop, you're going to have lots of bruised pieces which you can't clear quickly and will eventually lose even if you're not attacked. Focus more on building up that one big charge strike. If your first charged cluster is red, hold a red in one of your hands and use the other hand to build. When you hear an incoming attack, pop your own board.
>>
>>739021154
I've been playing this for 5 months. I can't stop bilging. The community is also very funny. You're either a chudmaxxer or a stay at home mom. The interactions are very funny
>>
A tip that i have for new people is that doing well at every puzzle in the game revolves around combos. They kinda act like a score multiplier. Once you figure out how to get combos efficiently you'll get a higher duty report
>>
>>739060970
>stack knife blocks to the ceiling
>round ends

>>
>>739061189
The key to SF is breaking multiple groups of blocks sequentially. It multiples the size of the swords you send the enemy. you can oneshot enemies if you do it right

I love the game but doesn't majority of clothing, equipment etc. eventually break completely?
It feels like in Maplestory when you'd have those cosmetic items that only lasted 30 days at a time.
Really hurts the permanence of your progress.
>>
>>739061838
Get it
>>
>>739062181
Thats the thing it relies on everyone being on at once, then when we're on, doing a voyage or two.

Yeah there's also other voyages happening on the notice board and they're cool, some other players took me to a crypt to fight vampires, but I wanna play with you guys.
>>
we should set up a meet up time for some voyages
>>
>>739064398

>>
>>739065153

>>
>>739059516
Im just stupid and really bad at it
>>
>>739065675
Yeah I vastly prefer sword fighting
>>
>>739062712
yeah everything except boats dusts after a while. after you play for a while it kinda becomes a non-issue though. you can easily make enough money to maintain all your shit. I ran out of uses for PoE a long time ago. progress is mainly measured by puzzle ranking in my opinion. once you get to higher rankings you will also be more likely to get accepted on more elite pillies/ monster hunts, which make you more money.
>>
>>739062712
it does rely on you playing the game often but a lot of it doesnt expire for awhile depending on who you purchase it from. I bought a helmet that lasts for 40 days so well after the 2 weeks

The puzzle ranking is balanced around bots because so many players use them, which means anyone that tries to solve the puzzles the legit way will 99.999% of the time do poorly.

I dunno if you need to gun when not in battle
>>
We now have a bunch of officers so there'll be someone on to invite people now, for those that missed it.
>>
You can type /tmute to turn off trade chat, you can also type /global-on to turn on global chat if you want that.

I promoted everyone in the crew to officer, I don't know if they'll be able to invite without a badge but I can't change the rules on who can invite.

Nobody has mentioned this but a good way to make money is joining big grand frigate voyages and just chilling on them, a lot of people do this, you end up getting "greedy" trinkets that can be exchanged,3 for a purse that can give up to 100K poe. it's also a good way to practice all the puzzles when nobody else is on without any pressure of performing well
>>
>>739073261
Yeah its what I did earlier then they showed me some island to dig up
>>
>>739073261
Thats what most people do on here these days. Just AFK farm voyages with bots doing all the jobs, and also playing the parlor games at Admiral Dock

>>
Is this game just doing puzzles endlessly or is there a point to it?
>>
>>739077954
Is there a point to anything
>>
>>739077718
Yeah its why I've been doing a bunch of voyages with other players. You can find them on the notice board in the voyages tab. It helps because they're much higher level so the booty you get it a lot more.
>>
>>739077954
Well there's an economy, there's are crews and alliances, and they war with eachother to gain ownership over them, tax them, etc.
There's some depth, it's just not as active as it once was.
>>
>>739078156
Old MMOs were so much more kino, tons of them had economic and political systems like this. Dark Ages was an MMO with that too. Then WoW wiped that shit out.
>>
>>739059350
Take the gunning pill.
>>
>>739077954
There's no point to any MMO really. You can say it's to get to max level or to complete all the raids but there's never going to be a 'victory' or 'game over' screen. New gear comes out and level cap increases and all of that progress goes away.

For puzzle pirates you can say that would be to have successfully completed all the different types of voyages. A crew could also form a flag and either blockade an island or colonize an island. I don't think we'll get strong enough in 2 weeks to make an impact on the political stuff but owning a large island is probably the closest thing to winning you can get.
>>
>>739078507
Or getting a pretty ship
>>
>>739059350
Bilging and gunning are the only ones that give immediate feedback on your performance. It definitely could use more. Sailing makes a big impact in the battle navigation but the sailors can't see that the navigator is low on tokens. Mostly you'd just have to look at the three bars to see if they're full or not.
>>
>>739078507
I think the MMOs I typically like are more the ones where I play through a main quest or explore. I definitely see the appeal of PP as more of a social MMO, but I think I'll wait and see what the next game is and join that too.
>>
>>739078156
To gain control over islands* etc

>>739078390
Yeah it's honestly like a miniature EVE online in a lot of ways.
All items are crafted by players, in their shops, on islands that are taxed by alliances, and go towards wars etc.
There's rare items like familiars and special ships.
There's competitive puzzles with stakes and tournaments.
It's a quite a gem.
>>
>>739078931
If you gave it a shot and didn't like it, no one can fault you for that. Puzzle pirates is very different compared to the average mmo. See you next game, friend.
>>
>>739078931
I think thats the big thing, there's no improvement system or levelling system really. All you're striving for is more gold to buy more cool things. Sure there's your ranking in puzzles and rank of your crew. But you're either good at the puzzles or not. You're never getting stronger. Just cooler looking.
>>
>>739079063
Also you can even toggle PvP on voyages and sink eachother's ships.
There's sea monster maps with a ton of hazars and massive ships get sinked constantly.
Wars also result in permanently lost ships.
>>
>>739079204
Yeah there is actually lots to do its just getting through the grind to unlock it (or paying)
>>
>>739079246
I don't know if they still do blockades on the weekends (wars) but as a jobber you can make a lot of PoE on those. They need manpower.
It's been years since I played though.
And yeah if you know how to play poker you can make crazy PoE

>>
>>739085351
I wasn't emphasising how social the game is as if that's a good thing. I also wasn't the one posting the text boxes, that was someone else. I feel you completely misunderstood my point. My point is we're meant to be playing MMOs and this feels like we're playing a social game with the heavy emphasis on social over emphasis on game. So there's not much game to play.
>>
>>739086486
Not that anon. MMOs are supposed to be rich in social aspects. I much prefer these games, which actually get people to play together, and have novel gameplay, instead of focusing on a shitty single-player questing experience because WoW did it.
>>
>>739087034
Theres definitely some nostalgia to it and I can see a lot of the pre-WoW era MMO aspects to it like the colonizing and Island politics. Like I said here that era was much more kino. >>739078390

Just some of that stuff is depressing because some stuff hasnt been updated since like 2009 or so, and so you get this sadness of a world that once was.

Honestly thats why I've been doing the publicly advertised voyages because they just carry me, and also you get tons of coins. In the smaller boats not so much.
>>
I remember smooth talking my way into become a fleet officer in a large organization, then immediately emptying all the coffers in all their ships and buying my own medium sized vessel.
Not bad for 10yo me I'd say.

>>
>>739093004
not sure what that means, it was just the normal voyage hunting down barbarians then suddenly a boss one appeared that said shit in chat
>>
>>739091229
>>739093593
That's a brigand king.

When you're doing normal pillaging, greedies will appear on the enemy team. The more loot the pillaging ship has, the more greedies will appear. They have a coloured background on the fight screens. If you hit them with a big strike or a big punch of their colour, they'll drop their treasure. They may also give up the location of a brigand king which will spawn somewhere along the route and he's basically a big boss that gives a trinket to everyone that beats him and potential for special loot.

I remember playing this back when I was a teen and getting some woman in trouble with her husband

We should have people on that can invite but it's not going to be as populated as earlier for sure.
>>
>>739095872
It seems most people are on during early hours, and it turns out its difficult to invite to the group because only certain people can.
>>
>>739097059
they do this on purpose
>>
>>739097097
Everyone is officer, there's no ability to change the rules on who can invite.
