Subnautica 2Good or bad? What do you like and what don't you like?My impression after 8 hours of play, it has a lot of potential but only if dev's actually listen to their players feedback and act on it.
>goodAtmosphereGraphicsBuildingProgressionStory>badDialogue and voice actingBalance (materials, vehicles, etc.)Questionable design decisions (no way to kill fish even though they're incredibly obnoxious and aggressive)
>>739224653It's a beta and I'm not a faggot who pays to beta test it.
The Good:More Subnautica to explore and fall in love withAmbience is awesomeBase building is improvedMax depth is even deeper than the originalLots of new lore to uncoverThe Bad:No real way to defend against attackers (currently)Storyline seems shallow and weak (currently)Only two new leviathans (currently)Tadpole is a weak design compared to the SeamothRecycled ideas from the original (Kharaa bacteria, viruses etc)
Subnautica 1 was unironically better, especially the sound design
I'm not playing it until they add something like this into the game.
can you fuck the sealife? I can't give them money in good faith if not.
>>739225207they should make new submarine that is twice as large
I stopped playing after 2 hours because I was already hitting the point where it was blocking me from doing what I wanted because its early access. What little I saw was promising but it seems like you're better off waiting for the full release if you care about exploration and not just mindlessly following the main story.
what's the point of playing an unfinished game?My owrst experiences on Steam have been with buying games in early access like a fag and thinking it was going to be fun to play an unfinished game for years while the dev was developing it while being smug and hostile to the players
mediocre compared to the original>goy access
>>739224653Subnautica?More likeSUBNAWWWWTICAGottem’
good:graphics and lighting has improvedquality of life with regards to crafting (pulls from lockers)bad:too much talking in logs, the logs are badly spaced out, often have to just stand still to listen before picking up another logaudio design is questionable (why is there spooky music playing everytime spooky thing appears) it just negates the horror factor entirely
>>739224760Spent twenty hours in early access. Got bit like once. Just throw a flare and they fuck off to an absurd degree. Are you dumber than a video game fish?
>>739224653>listen to their players feedback and act on itThanks to all the idiots who pre-bought, they don't have to satisfy anyone else and will continue on whatever garbage vision they have. You're all just bug testers.

>>739224653Heard you couldn't kill fish and canceled my pre-order.They still haven't figured out how to make guns work under water either so the whole thing is just kinda gay.
>murders so much wildlife that the devs get traumatizedWhy did he do it?
>>739228761I agree on all pointsI think the game has potential as long as they put in some truly deep and dark areas and put some plants and animals down there and not just one fetch quest.
>>739224653It has some questionable logic like saying sub can't go below certain depth before it getting crush but then ask you to go out of the sub to go lower by yourself
I love the new base building so much.
>>739232654is he even human or some saiyanlike hybrid? water pressure does nothing to him and he can enter seamoths and base hatch without the water coming in as if he has some sort of aura barrier preventing the water from touching him.

>>739225207>Welcome on board, captain. All systems online.
>>739228863This has been the worst part of the entire franchise. The fauna are such a non-threat that you can essentially fully ignore them. BZ is especially egregious in this regard as you can get a Levi to fuck off by hitting your point defence as soon as the attack animation starts and you'll take 0 damage, otherwise you can just hug terrain in every game and they'll never be able to hit you.
>>739225207Please please PLEASE let the new big sub gets a scanning upgrade so you can just drive it somewhere and it instantly pinpoints all the ores you're looking for.
>>739233215His killing intent physically manifests and warps the water around him.
>>739232975>>739233215Yeah but if they made it realistic then the player would either be sealed in a 1 atm submarine and be unable to swim and he'd have to dock at a base with some complicated hatch to keep the water out and couldn't have a moonpool; or the player's air tanks, sub and base are pressurized to the appropriate depth and he'd have to spend weeks in decompression to come back up from 500mso for gameplay it's best to hand waive those thingsthough a realistic submarine game might be good for a horror setting

Good:World and creature design so far is pretty great, I wasnt sold on the design of the leviathans when I saw them in concept art but the lightning does wonders for the big kraken fucker. I love how colorful everything in the shallows is and the big fuck all drops and empty sea spaces do help the whole vibe of the game being scary that people praise the first one for, I really hope they keep the vast open sea stretches with no signs of life because it's really the only way to make this game scary as opposed to the overly vibrant and colorful underwater caves of 1 (personally im too much of a sucker for underwater life, diving and such so I never found neither of the games scary to any capacity) and I heard some files in the game suggest in the future we are gonna build a big submarine to traverse THE VOID, which is a retarded fucking name we literally call it high/open sea IRL already for fucks sake, so im pretty sure they are gonna be building off the idea of being stranded in the middle of the sea with no signs of life around you beyond the deep blueThe new biomod system adds a bit more depth to upgrading yourself, options feel a lot less linear compared to the first oneCreatures interact way more with the player and the enviroment, something I really missed on the past 2 gamesMore aggressive sharks The lightning is so fucking pretty oh my LordBase building feels way more intricate and alive nowThank God we have a silent protagonost again Below Zero was obnoxious with that shitBad:Player models look ugly and lack customizabilityLoud music plays next to the leviathans which kills the "haunting atmosphere", not a big problem for me for reasons I mentioned earlier but still oneIn game music is much more noticeableCouldnt give less of a fuck about the story, the devs seem to care about it way more this time and are trying to be deep or something while we are still fighting the same fucking virus from natural selection(1/2)
>>739243761Bad:Audiologs and textlogs need to be fucking exterminated from gaming, such a cheap way to try and do enviromental storytelling, I would take Fromslop item descriptions any day over this shitCant run over things with my seatruck or rain hell upon small forms of wildlife, I know the devs said they dont wish to adress this because killing things would take away from the atmosphere but cmon im not trying to kill a leviathan here I just wanna pester small pond fishThe voice acting is clunky and vivid dogshit, they absolutely could have hired better staff for fucks sakeSpent too much time looking for silver but that might just be a skill issue on my endPretty sure they still classify coral under flora instead of fauna like they did in the first game and that made me unreasonably irritatedThe ugly:As a marine biologist I have to hold back on punching my screen every time I see on youtube any video with the words "marine biologist" + "subnautica"The bitching about the EULA is just needless bitching every online game these days comes with something similarGood (that I forgot to mention):I was holding back over how much the multiplayer was advertised that concessions for it would get in the way of the single player campaign, thankfully it's more of a single player game with multiplayer tacked on top and not friendslopPower is now way more of a concern and a stronger mechanicRunning out of air is a larger concern as well, they made the difficulty curve a bit more steep to compensate for all the extra gadgets and biomods and I hope this game is harder than the first 2 granted it probably wont beLong fetch quests for resources are toned back, they are just average sized fetch quests for resources

Funny enough they just talked about killing creatures(in a nicer way than before)>Second, we have heard the strong request for more direct ways to deal with hostile creatures, including the ability to kill them. We understand where that request is coming from. When avoidance and mitigation tools do not feel effective, it is natural for players to want a more decisive solution.>Our current direction is not based on judging players who want combat, and it is not because we think those players are wrong. Subnautica has always been built around vulnerability, exploration, and survival rather than traditional weapon-based combat. We believe that this is part of what makes the game unique. However, that design only works if creature encounters feel fair, readable, and engaging. Right now, we know we

>>739228863The sharks are too much of a non threat and simple to be scary or interesting, they just see you and bee line to take a nibble out of you. So we have three groups of people. Sophie's group which everyone was a part of initially, then Anita's Jubilee formed after Zip got reset for the first time and Sophie implemented triage, and lastly Nahema's schizo group with Chap and Mantis who blow up the habitat and cause Sleep Bay 3 to fall into the hole we start the game in. Did I get it right? Last we saw, only Sophie, Nahema, Ganzo, and Twinkle were alive when Nahema rushed for the tree. Then there's the Jubilee which was absent for a pretty long time

It's fucking hilarious that they're taking the >"Le killing is bad">"We are powerless before greater creatures than us">"It's all about exploration and respecting nature etc etc."route when you play as a jackass that holds a magic scifi wand that can transmute and create pretty much whatever the fuck you want and create megastructures that laugh in the face of nature. No matter what preachy shit they try to dress things up in, the game is fundamentally about trying to shove your cock in nature's face and bending it to your will.

>>739252375It doesn't help that the writing is so artificial. Every line of dialogue has some sort of overwrought turn of phrase that reeks of>millennial writer's socially conscious quirk chungusrather than>desperate colonists stranded on an alien planet that is actively poisoning them to death over and overThey're all so fucking flippant with the exception of Sophie, who is the only sympathetic character. She is the only one who actually articulates any of the realistic frustration and despair that you'd actually feel in this situation. It doesn't help that Nahema's motivation as a villain is seemingly that she's simply and an antinatalist misanthrope (seriously, why the fuck is she even a colonist), and she's by far the worst quirk chungus in the game. The worst two examples of this are the audio logs in the sulphur pyres wreck and subterranean base. Nahema's audio log in the wreck is easily the worst one in the entire game and really highlights the disconnect between the seriousness of the colonists' situation and their eccentric personalities. No, no one wants to listen to Nahema babble about capitalism after almost getting eaten by a shark. Fuck off.The one in the base is the same shit:>Did everyone else reprint here?>... No.>No? How no?Seriously, "how no?" That's what we're going with? This is a man who's just been told that his wife and 7 or 8 other colonists are potentially permanently dead. You couldn't just have him ask, "What do you mean?" or even, "What do you mean, 'no'?" Again, fuck off. It's an interesting setting and scenario, but the characters are just un-fucking-bearable and cheapen both at every point in the game. Except Sophie, she's okay.
>>739254624First thing I did when I got the upgraded Prawn Suit was punch Reapers to death. You have ridiculous scifi tech that's almost indistinguishable from magic. I mean sure they can make the intended experience have you be some gayass responsible human being. That's perfectly fine. But if you have all that power and options, you also gotta let the few reckless madmen be the powertripping water murderhobos they want to be. You can even make it retardedly difficult. Killing Reapers in the first game was a cumbersome chore and offered no rewards other than sating your bloodlust, but it was possible. It's fucking dumb that they're limiting options.

>>739261404could bethere's a lot of technical jank in the game like jarring transitions between shaders when travelling between biomes, flickering lighting from a distance (lumen), and the micro-stutters when travelling quickly in some areasbut they were also lazy about creature behaviors - they don't really migrate around at all, they're more like hostile fixtures that attack you when you pass nearby, and the base building is clearly not thought out and still has basic issues like not being able to align the corridor tube placement and the moonpool dock because one has an even number grid width and one has an odd number grid width, or something dumb like that

Good:Sometimes the atmosphere is kinda spooky before you figure out how easy it is to avoid danger. Bad:Multiple gamebreaking bugs such as bases not being dismantled properly, battery charging stations breaking, etc. base building incredibly annoying due to the bugs, so it's best to make a large and simple 1 floor square base and keep things as small as possible. all the biomods suck assfrequent crashes and disconnects in multiplayerprogression upgrades have marginal impact and aren't actually very important, though the biobeds are kinda nice i guess since it expands your inventory. i'm not even sure why i bothered making the improved fins. the improved air tank is basically the only thing you need along with an air bladder. predator fish aren't very dangerous most of the time, the biomods you get to deal with them are all sub par and can't beat a flareincredibly lame fetch quest for the final objective- you need 10 titanium ingots, 10 strongium, and 10 of the new ingot that requires all the rarest resources. if i didn't already have multiple metal farms setup i wouldn't have beaten the game by fixing the turbine. just an awful time wasting final objective. the capacity sidegrade to the tadpole is completely useless as it only adds the inventory of a little more than a wall locker while massively slowing you down. it's also just not necessary for anything. by the time you get to the area past the kraken you don't need to haul things around, and you can move much quicker with the upgraded gun + the scout tadpole. the path to get to one of the final black boxes is walled off on both sides by awkward "end of the world" walls that spawn instadeath leviathans if you cross them, making traversal annoying. (especially if you want to head straight there from the alien camp) also performance massively drops when you're in your base. i really hate when survivalcraft games have this issue.

I bought it but have no intentions of playing until late into early access or on full release because I remember Subnautica 1 EA forced you to restart with major updates
>>739262994you actual retard, you arent even in the discord so you have no idea what people are complaining aboutlike me, most people avoided leviathans anywaysthe issue is agressive shark mobs latch on to you and will follow you until you are deadand if you die in that area with them, they live there foreveryou cannot deter them, push them away, or create a safe zoneyou can only out run them, and thats fucking gaynot only that, try building a base with those claimsquid things, they literally chomp every 2-3 seconds and it NEVER STOPS
>>739263778Except it’s not. You start at the bottom of the food chain and claw your way back to the top through progress and sheer stubbornness. You go from meals on wheels to eventually being able to actually get into fights with the local fauna and win if you so choose. In isolation you’re always prey and have zero means of changing that once a xenomorph spots you, at least on the harder difficulties where it adapts to what you’re doing. You can temporarily fend for yourself, but it’s a bandaid fix that loses efficacy with repeated use.
>>739264084that will be the case here too. Without a doubt there is gonna be a forced restart.
Its like a shittier subnautica 1 early access, but even less cool zones, a slow ass vehicle and incompetent devs. You can't even kill the animals or defend yourself LOL.
>>739264175>you cannot deter them, push them away, or create a safe zonenot true the Sonic Resonator can cause them to back offsounds like you are the retard m8
>>739256694>>739260339you need to do some funny modding with barotrauma to get close to what you are thinking of, and have a crew of friends to get the most out of it.
>>739264204>In isolation you’re always prey and have zero means of changing that once a xenomorph spots you, at least on the harder difficulties where it adapts to what you’re doing. At least you have tools the fend off the Alien in that game, even if it eventually learns shit like the flamethrower doesn't do anything. But in Subnauticia 2 all you do is get zerged by infinite ranged leashing enemies. You literally have to adopt a cuck mentality and die in order to get them to stop.
I'm starting to think they bought the shares back from the chinese because the chinese were telling them not to do this shit
>>739264330>not true the Sonic Resonator can cause them to back offIncorrect, people have already opened the fauna database and found out that fish are actually invincible against the player. They cannot die or be pushed. Stop fucking lying.
>>739262562Sure more DPS is cool but wrecking a Reaper's teeth with a diamond mining drill is fucking awesome.
>>739264404It's not a lie it's a fact. Open your game rn and try it. Fucking retard. The ai backs off after using it.

>>739264571Like I don't even care about killing fish, just give me deterrance tools thats it. I guess its a mistake, but holy fuck its so annoying having 20 fucking squid clams and sharks constantly biting my base.Like they need to re-add aquariums and eggs or something so I can remove all the aggressive fauna and introduce a billion fishes that I like around my base again.
are there any cool mods for subnautica 1?
>>739264798>so I can remove all the aggressive fauna and introduce a billion fishes that I like around my baseSounds like a conquering colonist thing to do, that's an uh oh, that's a big no no.

>>739224653It's not finished yet, and the devs have tipped their hand at being completely fucking retarded. >>739235247They don't need to max it out but just showing the threat and stress of pressure effects would have been better than whatever 'tard shit they have planned.
>>739264883yes tons

>>739264890I mean the guy who managed the social medias that said that stuff was just let go and Unknown Worlds just released an apology letter to fans. So I guess us violent Chuds won.
>>739265540An apology letter is an empty platitude, not a change to the gameplay
>>739254986I haven't played Subnautica 2 yet.Does the character who says "how no?" line have a Scottish accent? Because it's parochial language that basically means "why not?" If he does.
>>739255586Lmao did exactly the same. I thought there was way more to explore down in the lava caves so I built a whole base down there only to realise I didn't even really need a rebreather to bother with any of that crap because it's 2 boxes and a log. The other biome also has pretty much everything you need anyway so you don't need to trek back for much.
I don't really engage with the anti-gun shit because I like the rest of the game this much, but I have to point out how stupid it is they're trying to push this message in this setting.Motherfucker, I am being attacked by WILD BEASTS. I can't talk with them, there's no mechanic to tame or pacify them, and there aren't any tricks to make them act neutral towards you. This is the one universal time where having a gun would be a very good thing, school shootings existing or not.
>>739265540Link to the stuff?
>>739265834All they have to do is do what they did with the first game, you don't have guns, but you have plenty of other tools, and even without them you can still damage the wild life by ramming them, stabbing them and punching them with a mech. By all means, go with the dumb message that only the most effete, idealistic tards on the planet believe in, but leave the world simulation intact instead of slaving it to the idea. They won't though, these people are californians.
>>739265834Yea the devs being immensely retarded about it since the first game is so weird. They could have just said they didnt want you to be able to kill them because it would make the game too easy or something but they had to go and make some moronic political stance about it
>>739265834like there are fully made harpoons from the tailings sitting around the ocean and your character just does not do anything with them
>>739224653>Good or bad?Unfinished. Less so than S1's initial release, but still not enough to bother buying right now. I'd strongly advise waiting a year or so, they're estimating 2 years for full release, so given what they've got, I'd wager by next summer the game will have enough content to justify paying for it. I'm also more than happy to let everybody make them iron out the current gameplay issues its having before I bother. People seem very annoyed at the current state of predators, and it does sound annoying, so I'm good to just wait until they give the axe damage or come up with some other system to fix the problem.
>>739266126i really hope they eventually become usable, i want to fucking spear and eat the nibblersthey're such a downgrade from the stalkers that had a lot more personality, i also hope eggs get added back in so i can get a fish bro
>>739265834Like, I don't mind that we aren't getting guns. Guns don't super work underwater anyways, so them going on about gun control I don't particularly care about. But no killing shit in a survival game because of gun control? That's a level of retardation that goes above and beyond. My weak ass has killed deer IRL with a knife and my bare hands, I think biomod-infused John Subnautica 2 could handle a fuckass fish with an axe, particularly when he knows he could be reprinted when he dies.
>>739244884>>Our current direction is not based on judging players who want combat, and it is not because we think those players are wrong. Subnautica has always been built around vulnerability, exploration, and survival rather than traditional weapon-based combat. We believe that this is part of what makes the game unique. However, that design only works if creature encounters feel fair, readable, and engaging. Right now, we know weI KILLED EVERY CREATURE ON SUBNAUTICA 1 and I feel it was encouragedThey are trying to hide that they skip to do a whole fighting mechanic (and all the animations that its implied with that) to save money and timeKILL and RAPE these kind of developers. I wish they get skinned alive.
>>739248209They really tried to skip developing content and mask it as "we dont want le killing animals guys!"scum of the earth.
>>739265845literally the steam page and discordlike my guy comon
>>739265834They already cucked out.
>>739266346>Unfinished. Less so than S1's initial releaseOkay this is a lie and you know it. When Sub1 released in EA, it was literally barren and had flat textures everywhere. Even the shallows were empty and nothing but sand. The only difference is the devs were too ambitious and wanted people to terraform the world to their liking, but abandoned the idea once they realized it was too memory intensive.
>>739267382Seems like they will just add shit like nets and call it a day>Our current direction is not based on judging players who want combatWhy word it like that?
>>739267382>A day to apologizeNow many more before they crack and add hit points to the medium-sized fish

>>739267712>written by a group of SJW HR Karens who are terrified of saying anything that is a micro-aggressionthats exactly what the subnautica devs are anon
>>739267574They don't want to admit they lost while knowing deep down they lost. They lost millions and a lot of people refunded according to steamdb, that message insulting the playerbase did not go well for them.
>>739260409>https://www.nexusmods.com/subnautica2/mods/105?tab=postsLooks like it's still here?
>>739267574cause people have been taking it like that
How hard would it be for the devs to just say something like "we're still figuring out the health pools for the fishes" and not make it into a retarded political spergout?
>>739267574They're trying to conflate wildlife that can be damaged as "combat" rather than simulation. They're intent on avoiding the situation Subnautica had where you could kill the wildlife if you wanted for ideological reasons, so instead of caving to player demands, they're just going to buff mitigation and avoidance measures and call it a job well done. This is all just empty platitudes to make people shut up about it in the meantime before it drives away prospective customers. It's not like they're new to bad decisions, they fired the sound guy from the first game because he made the attack helicopter joke, knowing that the sound design was one of the biggest points of praise Subnautica had.
>>739267382Basically the team is a bunch of sheltered pussies begrudgingly bending, and will likely half ass it like adding the knife back to call it a day. This just screams "We don't know how nature really works". No, the community isn't asking for ray guns, or an arsenal to trivialize a leviathan. We want a means to fight back when the deck is already so steeply stacked against the player. Stun baton, a spear, basic bitch shit. We're already eating small fish. Nature itself is incredibly competitive and violent. Why they decided to be so shitty in the first place is beyond me
Is this unironically a game made by and for vegans?
>>739225207The cyclops is by far the best part of subnautica. No game captures the star trekky feeling of piloting a large vehicle which serves as a base and can deploy runabouts.. The loop of keeping it charged and stocked is satisfying. No Man's Sky was close last I played but not quite perfect.
>>739267382The devs are just retarded, if they want to go full vegan and not have killing why not just repurpose the sonic gun that is already in the game and have the fish flee from you? I put in 10 hours, got kind of bored but out of my time, the worst part is definitely that you have these fish harassing you with no way to fight back. Seems so retarded that a survival game's main lesson to adversaries is just to lay down and take it.
>>739267943They're californians.
>>739268056NMS devs are even more clueless than these guys. Once you get a solar charger for your ship so you can take off without it costing you resources it's always better to take the ship than ever bother with any of the vehicles. All their systems are closed off and don't play well with each other. The corvettes are done so badly you might as well just use your normal ship because they can't land on normal docking ports due to size not being restricted. The freighters already is a mobile base you can teleport to so you never really even need a corvette. It's astounding how badly the devs suck and how much the fanbase sucks them off in turn.
>>739268036californians are infamously avoidant of accepting the reality that humans are apex predators and capable of overcoming even the largest and deadliest of beasts with our intelligence, ingenuity, tool use, and sheer fucking will
Another cool idea devs will never do for a future DLC post game: fishman mutation mode. Breath underwater, mutate natural defenses to defend/hunt other species. Vegans are fucking children
>>739268040your main source of nutrition is eating fish dude
>>739268086>Seems so retarded that a survival game's main lesson to adversaries is just to lay down and take it.if i wanted to be an armchair psychologist, i'd say its because these pussy devs have been so cucked by the left that they fully believe in total submission to perceived threats and authority and are trying to spread that cancerous belief to others through the systems of their gameif i wanted to be an armchair psych of course
>>739268305Vegans/Vegetarians are obvious retards who don't realize their privilege only exists because they evolved to be top of the food chain. You also need animal proteins to thrive, which they refuse to accept and ultimately hurt their bodies in the long run. Fucking christ, PLANTS are extremely violent in nature. You think the oak gives a shit that it is slowly choking out the life of competing plants trying to get a drink?
Let me synthesize some aquatic pheromone that makes a fish my loyal pet. He can follow me around while I explore and mauls the local wildlife like a pitbull named Sprinkles.
>>739268580weren't there audio logs suggesting you can be cool with the marrowbreaches like that by giving them fish n shit like the stalkers? is that actually possible

>>739268632Taming a Marrowbreach would be great. Could take him to Karakorum and have him "play" with the Needler Mangos.
Another thing devs will be shitty about: creating a map.
>>739269345You don't need a map lil gup
>>739268453>their privilege only exists because they evolved to be top of the food chain.Yes, being at the top of the food chain with advanced intelligence and morality gives us a unique opportunity to be caretakers of the planet instead of just merely exploiting it.>You also need animal proteins to thriveYou actually don't need animal protein. You just need to make sure you're getting the amino acids which you can do with plants. For instance rice and beans is a complete protein.>PLANTS are extremely violent in natureVegans don't think other life shouldn't kill life to survive. The point of veganism is that we don't need to consume animal products to live, so there's no ethical reason to do so. Plants are not sentient and animal agriculture is very bad for the environment. People who think AI usage is bad for the environment really should go vegan if they actually care about the environment.
>>739269345I kinda liked using beacons for navigating by landmarks, but the game does need a map. The diagetic sonar maps were pretty good, but limited in range.
>>739268732Its all good, we're all retarded here.
>>739269403I'm not asking to be handed a map, I want TO MAP. Show where I've been, and further drive home the explorer theme
>>739269448>plants are not sentienti got bad news for you palplants are absolutely sentient in their own way and even talk to each other with chemical messages, and i dont mean some brainless shit either, they respond to stimuli and even display regard for other plants of the same species. grasses particularly are infamous for this.of course any sort of ranching or animal farming should give the animals a good full life and a painless death at the end of it, but whether you like it or not, youre preying on something to survive, and hiding from that is just cowardice. thats what vegans and vegetarians actually are: cowards
>>739269448>Yes, being at the top of the food chain with advanced intelligence and morality gives us a unique opportunity to be caretakers of the planet instead of just merely exploiting it.You dumb fuck. I hope for your sake this is bait. Where did I or anyone say exploit or excess? Shut the fuck up, you sheltered pussy. >>739269891Well honestly many people died in less than a week when we didn't have civilization. Now go buy yourself a protein shake with money.
>>739224653The bad is natural selection was one of my favorite games ever and these asshoes fucked up the 2nd one and now I'll never to get to play a new one

I will have it anyways because I can.>VeganismIf you choose not to eat meat because you don't like the taste, that's all the excuse you need. If you don't eat meat because of your diet, that's also a fine excuse. But the philosophical side of veganism is an outdated philosophical standpoint. You deny your biology its purpose. You deny the nature of life.>Animal Agriculture is bad for the EnvironmentAgriculture in general is extremely bad for the environment, animal or otherwise.
>>739269814A paragraph is dictated by topic and number of punctuation, usually 3 sentences at minimum. So now we've established you're an illiterate vegan. I'm sorry dad didn't love you.
>>739270046>Agriculture in general is extremely bad for the environmentIt's the scale of it, and it's only at that scale because 90% of the species insists on urbanisation, which is way worse for the environment than literally anything else we've ever done, but you don't see environmentalists advocating to level every city ever built and slaughter the populations living in them.
>>739270040I honestly don't know why someone hasn't tried to make something similar now, since are too stupid to jump on the opportunity. It's been long enough, people want it. Especially if it's going to be cheap. It's not like it's a super unique concept either. Anything similar, as long as the gameplay and graphics are solid, would sell pretty easily now.
>>739270140Barely anything grows where I live, so I'm not sure how I could be vegan. Stop projecting, schizoid.
>>739270336>>739270336You're now using the term "projecting" wrong.
>>739270336as a schizoid i take offense at this; the person youre telling off is a schizo not a schizoid. two very very different things.
>>739270373Projecting doesn't just mean projecting yourself
>>739267943Because it's not like they're trying to hide their agenda.
>>739265834Libs live in a fantasy, they have gnomes dancing in their heads, as it becomes very clear the think the supermarket just spawns food when they are asleep. Nature would kill you the moment you give it a chance. The mountain lion who mauled the woman looked cute too.
>>739224653The premise is really cool but I'm tired of misanthropic games that romanticize "nature" and offer no way or choice for you to fight back. The game lacks good combat simple as. It's tedious and I'm not playing games to larp as a hippie.
>>739244359the game is empty, what did you expect? there's literally nothing to talk about other than bitching about things that people hate at the moment, which is why it's in early accessi don't really like throwing flares as a distraction, feels goofy that predators will drop a literal fleshy target for some tiny glowing flare amongst the rest of the glowing environment but i see where they are coming fromthey should probably work on the aggressive creatures more so they aren't so artificial though
>>739225207>You are the best captain on the planet, I'm not even squidding
>>739270336Honestly if you've got the space and the cash to spare, you should try your hand at some hydroponics, it's an interesting pastime. I grow some of my own foodstuff, not enough to be self sustainable, but it's a nice hobby and makes me appreciate farmers more. Way more science goes into it than most people think.
Almost done my second run. and i think really what they need to add is a hard mode. You are virtually unkillable currently with how predators leave you alone only the virus blooms come close and only if you try to face tank them. It's way too easy to get water and having recipes available immediately instead of having to find them or research them makes food a nonissue. The tadpole feels even tankier than the seamoth did, even though it's so much smaller. The hauler variant is also way too slow to be fun and useful as some others have mentioned. Base health and reinforcement needs to come back. Basically the world needs to be way more hostile outside the coral gardens. I should want to devote inventory spaces to flares, consider using the defense biomods, actually craft a medkit etc. on the creature front, i'd really like to see more medium-large and large fish, both as prey and predator. Like some alien whales. or just make like an alpha marrowbreach. it's so weird you can't harvest the bigger fish they have to have something useful
>>739267574>Why word it like that? It's damage control because one of their brainlet devs chimped out in official discord and essentially told ppl to fuck off if they don't like their "no killing" retardation. Which is a move that would literally get you fired in any competent company. At least it seems like they told him to shut to fuck up
>>739254624sorry hold on, i need to filter this water through a fucking slug instead of desalinating it in any other wayi'll do this in the structure i built with a gun in less than 3 seconds out of ONE single material

>>739271428It's easy right now because shit does no damage. Currently best way to play is just ignoring everything and just using medkits till you are done with what you are doing. Predators triple your size do %10 of your HP as damage which is not gonna stay that way. If they ported SN 1 predators with the same aggression, you wouldn't even be able move more than 10 meters without dying once you are out of the shallows.

Equipment changes are also really unbalanced and devalue actually using equipment as intended. Air tanks don't slow you down and only take one slot,so you can just carry more. the beacons have to built meaning you need to carry the materials instead of just having the beacons, flares don't require sulfur, no light sticks even tho the colony has them, no laser cutter yet. medkits only need fiber which is weird. thank god there are still portable lockers and, with hardpoints, they are actually kind of neat!
>at the end of the game in 1, left the Thermal Plant at the bottom of the ocean>as i'm leaving the Sea Emperor attacks me as i'm behind my Cyclops>when I load back in, literally all of my storage including my Prawn got erased from the gameman what the fuck, how did they never fix something like this? i checked around the ground outside the Cyclops and there was nothing so it was as if the game just perma-deleted everything
>>739272524Subnautica 1 was part gold, part shit. The Sea Dragon remains the doofiest fucking thing.
>>739272810the Cyclops was already pretty difficult to maneuver, an even larger one would be such a hassle to navigate with unless they make the map like 3x as big
>>739274420Also, the Reaper Leviathan made no fucking sense mechanically.
>>739274476
>>739274949Alright. So you have the jaw of the creature, right? Big, substantial bitey fucker, yeah? Okay. Now, it has 4 crab legs bolted to it without the musculature to explain how that works.
I know neither want anything to do with the discourse, but after watching both Jack and Mark play it’s really funny watching both of them complain about being unable to hurt the fish
>>739262691The saying Rich or Poor, White or Black, Serf or Lord, Samuel Colt made them equal. The ones who push for gun control tend to be looking for more power over people.

>>739270390Shut it, schizo
>>7392750474 legs to grab onto things to bite even bitier.
>>739275047The legs don’t necessarily need complex musculature, just enough to grant them the motility and power to grab onto/stab into something long enough for the reaper to start using its primary jaws. They’re probably anchored by ball in socket joints and have just enough muscle to achieve what’s needed.
>>739275048>discourse>watching others play vidyago back

>>739224653It is simply too early to say.Its the basic gameplay of earlygame but without many features yet like collisions with fish going bumpSome clunkyness in building, havnt tried to break it yet but I had to fuck around with expanding a room and moonpool a ton and then leaving one large section with floor so that the vehicle docking station worked and fit inBut the exploration for me isnt this basic wreck shit on a 2d plane. I wanna dive down further and find biomes. I want labyrinthes of lost rivers that go deeper and have side paths and unique locations with special fish or monster eggs to collect. The giant clam that snaps shut was kinda cool I guess but I feel less joy so far and more survivorslop checklist to progress.
I don’t need a knife, or a gun, or a mech suit or a stasis rifle or even torpedosjust give the fish health points, I will do the rest
BZZZZZRMMMWROOOOM
I think the structure of the map is lacking compared to the first one. You are just trying to get from one end to the other and a big chunk in the middle is mostly emty and the Collector Leviathan seemingly always spawns infront of you no matter where you are trying to cross the area.Compare that to the first game where you are dropped in the middle of the map
>>739276291I've seen people say the devs intend you to be able to get to the big tree so I'm assuming it's not really the whole map
>>739271779If Riley wasn't a dork with a shitty haircut from a future world where nobody manually makes anything, I can absolutely see him messing around with stuff he's allowed to fabricate in order to make real weapons.>turn gas torpedoes into frag bombs>take the explosives out of a torpedo, stick them in a titanium tube with a projectile and make a gun (wouldn't be great underwater)>use the welding tool and multiple flares in combination with an adhesive to stick a thermite bomb onto a leviathan>rig up a seaglide to accelerate forward with a large explosive payload>use creature lures and explosives to create sea mines>some combination of a lure, a gasopod (sorry lad) and hydrochloric acid to seriously fuck up a reaper's dayAnd a ton of other stuff I'm sure I just haven't thought of yet. It isn't really clear how quickly the disease progresses, so it's not certain how much time he'd have to tinker, but if he had at least 6 months, that'd be plenty of time to figure out how to repurpose a few things. The people in 2 have no excuse, they've not only got unlimited time and they could literally use themselves as suicide bombers and just respawn. Strap on a ton of IEDs, swim into the big squid's territory and once your deadman trips, goodbye cunt.
>>739276291do you seriously think 2 biomes is all they have planned for this game? More areas are coming.

>>739275047Internal hydrolics
>>739276291>>739276329You can expect more biomes to be added in the other directions. Then when you actually reach the tree there'll be crypts under it which you'll have to explore.

>>739276329>so I'm assuming it's not really the whole mapThey're confirmed they're already working on more areas and more story. They also intend the story to be episodic where each major update delivers a new chapter to the story.

>need to go straight through the collector leviathan territory to process whatever happened to the leviathans being shorthand for “do not fucking go here”this is especially dumb with how the collector is far more aggressive than anything in the first 2 games triply dumb since at least the other games let you deal with the leviathans, this game gives you nothing

You wouldn’t be able to budge the hatch on the Cyclops, and even if you somehow had the Superman strength to do so it would cause the entire sub to rip apart as soon as a mm of space opened up.
>>739280236i built a base a lil closer to that edge and i'll randomly just hear a concert way off in the distance sometimes when it notices me
>>739280236https://www.nexusmods.com/subnautica2/mods/105?tab=description
>>739280236>whatever happened to the leviathans being shorthand for “do not fucking go here”That is absolutely not true, in 1 you need to go through Reaper territory to get to the Aurora and through a young ghost leviathan territory to get to the volcano zone. In BZ you need to blitz through a couple shadow leviathan territories.Deal with it nigger.
>>739280236>you have to go past the reaper to get to the Degasi>what happened to LEVIATHANS BAD guys WHY DO I HAVE TO DO THIS
The devs themselves are the worst part of this game so far. Any and everything you read from them just makes your experience worse. Even the most liberal players find their shit obnoxious. There are some annoying parts of the game, but the virtue signaling and preaching is the only bad part that stands out
>>739280236It's one of the better parts of the game, though. It's not even that difficult, you just nestle the tadpole into nooks and crannies that he can't reach and he eventually loses interest, allowing you to dash to the next one.
>>739280445Stopping the space cancer from spreading out of the Aurora was the only time I went through a biome with Reapers. There was nothing in the Dunes or Mountains that made me feel like rolling the dice on a jump scare.
>>739280752it's so funny how big verticality makes the leviathans useless, they are only a threat near Aurora because it's basically a shallows and the key of evading these guys is going up and down fast.
>>739224760>Questionable design decisions (no way to kill fish even though they're incredibly obnoxious and aggressive)Regarding this, the devs said they're never putting weapons or the ability to kill anything in the game, but I think that's an excellent way to use the Biotech mechanic to great effect. Using the DNA of certain animals you can assimilate their weapons as a defense system.-the acid-spewing sponges in the caves? Have your skin secrete the acid, leaving an acid cloud and trail that deters some predators, mainly smaller ones.-the electric animal? Make your body produce an electrical discharge similar to the Seamoth's Perimeter Defense System, strong enough to deter larger predators like the Marrow.-retool the sonic roar you can get from the Collector Leviathan so it also frightens away predators.-the Flash Slug can give you the ability to make your own flash of light, stunning light-sensitive animals and disorienting some othersThe devs are listening to feedback, if people suggest ideas like this we can get better defensive means.
>>739280856Yeah, I'm more questioning the lack of alternatives to weapons. Like I would have no issue with this if there was, for example, an exterior base attachment that emits sonic frequencies which would deter the most annoying fish.>nibblers swarming you to deal 0.1 damage per bite>hammerheads trying to challenge your tadpole to a duel>marrowbreaches getting called from halfway across the zone by houndgar (this is by far the worst one)
>>739280993>marrowbreaches getting called from halfway across the zone by houndgar (this is by far the worst one)Wait, what? Marrowbreaches can be summoned by something?
>>739281210Yeah, those little fuckers in the sulphur pyres that seemingly don't do anything? That's what they do. I found this out the hard way after building 50% of my new base there.
>>739281312
>>739276241>when you get the message that all targets have been eliminated, then it says targets unaccounted for: 1>it means youMost memorable point of the game, shame these guys were brainless though.
>>739280856the electric attack mod is already in the game
>>739280993houndgars distracting you so a marrowbreach can raptor you is by far one of the best animal behaviors in the game. it only works on you once though.
>>739281958multiple nibblers swarming around you is also p good
>>739233535I wont know how to feel about it till someone posts a steam chart.if the numbers fit my definition of low then get rekt woke DEI trashotherwise ill pretend not to see the chart or blame zoomers bad taste or something.
>>739280371You’re thinking like it’s a dry tin can and not a pressure-equalized docking system. The moonpool works because the interior air pressure is balanced against the water column at that depth, it’s not just “hole in sub = ocean go whoosh.” The Cyclops hatch is basically a fancy airlock - you flood the chamber, equalize, then open. Same reason a diving bell doesn’t instantly implode the second you crack it.Now obviously the game handwaves the engineering because if we had to sit through 3 minutes of pressure cycling every time we left the sub everyone would alt+F4, but it’s not as physically impossible as you’re making it sound. If anything the unrealistic part is Steve McJanitor free-diving 800m on two O2 tanks and some flippers like it’s a YMCA pool.

>>739276453Kharaa is lethal in about two weeks, but can be delayed by the enzyme peepers carry out from the vents.
So according to the game's backstory Alterra succeeded in getting samples of the Kharaa from 4546B and it swept through the galaxy killing almost all life in it. The Cicada was holding the last remnants of humanity, and now we're the last surviving human in the universe.
>>739284653and the current virus is allegedly stronger than Kharaa?

>>739270046Conceited pig retard, unironically kill yourself.
>>739281210>>739281312>>739281379Houndgar. I think they classify them as a type of squid. Their data bank entry is interesting since it highlights their symbiotic relationship with the Marrowbreach. The Houndgar spreads its fringe and dances a bit to dazzle prey so the Marrowbreach can attack. They also seem to do the real life symbiotic thing where they hang on out them and clean them. But it also mentions they may be trainable, leading me to hope they expand on the pet system so rather than just having something cute that follows you around but ultimately does nothing like the Cuddlefish or Trivavle, it's a little bit more Pokemon with you having a pet that helps you. Like the Flash Slugs? Having a squishy flashbang grenade following you around that can blind predators for you occasionally would be neat.
>>739286394I like how bioscanning them gives you the incredible power to bleed everywhere
>>739285976Enzyme 42 did completely destroy the Kharaa, remember that Ryley is covered in pustules when he finally dips his hand into a bubble of it and is cured. And it completely cleansed the Frozen Leviathan when injected into it. The bigger question is how did Alterra managed to get some Kharaa after it was eradicated from 4546B.
>>739286054Because the devs are the same idiots who decided we needed loads of miles mckenzie, except brown in our ears all the goddam time in below zero. They really don't understand why their game worked in the first place.

>>739287006i think you can speedrun the game so it never shows up but other than that no
>>739273968That was a dumb oversight on the part of the developers. It's immediately and obviously a problem to anyone trying to line up a tube with a moonpool.
>>739287006it's a canon event sadly
I liked the first one but so far I think it's boring, even if in a technical sense it improved in a lot of ways.
>>739287326The starting biomes are pretty underwhelming and samey right now, nothing like the kelp forest to really switch up the dominant color palette. I like the deeper spooky alien stuff but that's all pretty barren right now
>dont put any tool to kill a fishOk.. I get it, devs are moralizing cunts>cant drive over them with vehiclesHows does that even work?Like physics dont work or the vehicle stops when you would hit fish? Both options sounds like pants on head retarded. Theres so much better options that works in scenario of "you cant fight back in standard way".
>>739287006All you have to do to keep the event from firing is never construct a radio, provided you shut down the quarantine enforcement platform before building one, the Sunbeam radios you to tell you they can't make an approach because of the Aurora's debris field.
I'm just replaying/finishing up Subnautica 1Is this worth a buy right now or should I wait a few monts.Hows Sons of the Forest? The devs recommended to play that instead if you're not, you know...
>>739224653>>It has a lot of potential. "It has a lot of potential" for any early access game, to me, means that you're a fucking shill playing damage control for a shit game. Not buying.
>>739289547They're not going to change much of S2 in a few months. Maybe in a few years.I thought sons of the forest was indie garbage but I guess some people like it.
>>739225207>>739253425And pic will be the final stage, the biggest one.
>>739287473You have to understand, the fish are important like the cherry trees in the new Forza.
>>739289547>>739289913The forest is better, sons of the forest is broader in scope but also has more issues. For me personally I ran into too many that soured the game for me
I usually build my bases in isolated areas, but for a second run through in co-op we decided to build a base where hammerheads spawn. I now see what people mean by how annoying they are, just camping the moonpools
>>739244325Good effortpost
>>739290096what's the comparison between the two?
>>739291134Honestly there are a ton of small things but the biggest differences are that the forest has a cavesystem underneath the map. In the sons its all individual caves. Sons has a more barren world (content wise) and later enemies are massive healthsponges. Biggest annoyance was that enemies spawn inside your base in sons. Both games are set up in a way that its actually better to not build a base even though the game expects you to. It honestly kind of feels like going from subnautica to below zero. The forest being subnautica and sons being below zero.

No idea what to do next, I'm swimming around and getting blocked off by high temperatures, I found the plant to absorb the heat tolerance from but I need to repair it first.
