Ixion is fucking stupid. I hate the fucking resource junk laying around everywhere. Research is convoluted; require research station, science ship, and time to harvest the science. Stockpile requiring energy sucks. Building road feel clunky. I will try again tomorrow.

I kind of want to try Songs of Syx, after seeing the heyheyman's video about it.Is it good? Is it not too autistic?
>>475052771Black and White 2? It's entretaining, but not particularily challenging, and a vvery casual strategy/4X game.As a kid I always played it as a Sandbox city-builder with magic/combat features (Because that's pretty much what it is).>>475058150Song of Syx is great. It's pretty in-depth, but not too autistic like Dwarf Fortress. We try and have a regular thread on /vst/ about it: >>>/vst/1691072The demo is an unlimited instance of the full game that is several versions behind the current stable and beta versions. You can try it to see if you like it and check the most recent dev diaries to see if the new additions of features and fixes make it worth to buy the game:https://store.steampowered.com/app/1162750/Songs_of_Syx/We're like one version of the way away from leaving early access, but even afterwards the devs is planning to continue adding stuff.

CIVILIZATION
New to Stellaris, kinda new to 4x.Unsure what I'm supposed to be doing with colonies. The resource production has pretty good payout but you need pop to man the positions and pop growth seems pretty sluggish BEFORE I colonized new planets which slowed capital growth. Seems like if I just create buildings/districts I'm spending resources for something that isn't playing off anytime soon, and with no fine control on where the pop goes as far as I can see. I know you can prioritize one job, but it took pop from another one when I tried it and made red my amenities production. So I basically have to keep an eye on each planet, adding new jobs whenever the previous wanted ones are filled?Fucking breed faster you stupid birds.
>>475052771I have it. Bought it twice, I ended up getting the Mac version the first time.Got filtered by the second mission, fucked up by buying useless buildings.>>475072136Mine's that one.

>>475137357Pretty much, yeah. Pops are your economy. No reason to build new jobs while the previous ones aren't filled.>no fine control on where the pop goes as far as I can seeyou can prioritize jobs by clicking on them (in the population tab), or close jobs if you then expand the ruler/specialist/worker tabs. You should generally try to not work clerk/colonist jobs. Enforcers are only needed when your crime gets near 30%. Use Holo-Theatres for amenities (and even there, you can disable the second job until you actually need it). Until your stability starts dipping below 50%, you're generally better off working another job rather than getting amenities (politician jobs are fine)

>fertility map shows green for wheat>place field>actually the fertility is like 30%. this intended or do I need to specialize the village for farmer to get higher?
>>475219593Hard to say, I've been playing for only a few hours. I've had exactly one battle at it was a complete walkover but that's to be expected from a tiny group of bandits.
>>475229105And how's the management and building?
tried peaceful mode first, wish I didn't. game is just boring once the novelty wears off. maybe with some battles it'll be more interesting. We'll see if the creator updates regularly now that he's now making money or if he'll quick 'finish' it or straight up abandon it like other early access titles.
>>475230535It's very, very organic. I thought the 4 point plot drawing would be limiting but turns out the shape you make will try to adhere to roads and edges of other buildings so you can make some really weird plot shapes. Also this game is unlike the great many others like it in that there aren't as many separate production buildings to build specifically.Instead you pick a residential plot that has enough space to build an extension onto. Initially this will just be garden plots and chicken coops to make use of the land the plot takes up but later when you upgrade the plot you can pick artisan extensions like this brewery. The brewer lives here. This is his house. But it's also the brewery where ale is produced instead of being a separate thing. It allows what you're building to evolve organically over time which is really neat.

>>475271101Good luck.
>>475214151>>475213950screen tearing is caused by getting really high framerate compared to your monitor's refresh rate, like if you're getting 200 FPS on a 60hz monitor. vsync fixes this but adds input delay (good for non-action games bad for anything else) i haven't experienced screen tearing since i got a 144hz monitor though
The rate at which the AI pushes into you and the insane army size they have makes this game really tiring. There's no game over here either, you just lose the ability to do anything.

Anyone here who put time into both AoE 2 and 4 multiplayer? Was about to try 4, maybe play a couple dozen games before deciding to stick with it or just play 2. The main appeal to me is that 4 has FFA matchmaking whereas in 2 you need to make lobbies for FFA, but if I end up liking the game itself better in general, then I can just enjoy the 1v1s and everything too.
>anon is blind>somehow it's the game's fault
>>475281481Never played AoE4 so I can't help.
>>475281503Go be a nigger somewhere else.
I think I underestimated how little it takes to build shit. I wasted too much time waiting for resources to tick when I had plenty...........................
>Play a couple runs of Manor Lords today>AI lord every time claims everything so fast >once he claims it all he comes for you and demolishes youWELL SHIT. I was having fun becoming a Plantation Magnate with my insane amount of farms. I wonder if its possible/efficient enough to just pump out weapons and sell them and become a medieval arms dealer to fund the rest of our development, and more importantly just buy a fuckton of mercenaries to slap the AI shit in.
I tried Manor Lords, seems very barebones and lacking literally anything for a game that took 7 years to reach this point
>>475283636Like 7 Days to Die then.
>>475283636one person dev please understand might take another 7 years to get finished.
Good morning
>>475280278What's your verdict on it?
>>475306867Morning.
>>475314518It's early access. That would be the average person's verdict. The game is beautiful graphics wise. The off map AI is ridiculously powerful. Quite literally they have an entire professional army and you get 20 farmers with pointy sticks. They get this from day one. Considering how slow a burn this game seems to be, you're basically on an invisible timer and you will get fucked if you don't somehow muster enough power before the AI just fucking walks over you. I've only been playing for 10 hours but it doesn't seem possible. You can hire mercenaries but that leaves the question of how you're going to afford them because they are extremely expensive. Also when you hire them they could spawn in so far away as to be no help whatsoever. The bandit raids seem more appropriate strength wise. Once the first raid happened I had at least enough men to match their strength so I wouldn't get fucked raw. And no, bandit raids are not the same as the main AI opponent. The other lord will go after bandit camps and deny you looting them which denies you potential regional wealth which is badly needed for trade.I won't go too much further into it as I've only 10 hours but the thing that stands out to me the most is how strong the off map AI is. They seem completely impossible to contend with unless there's some secret I'm not getting.
Just an FYI, this is what you're up against if you challenge the AI.I have 14 men.
Sorry, THIS is what you're up against if you challenge the AII have 18 men.

>>475324792This is fine.
>>475324792What kind of a game is it? Total war with city building? There has been a lot of releases recently popping out, it's so curious to me. As if someone made an asset pack I think and everyone started to build games on top of that.
>>475325487It feels like a very shiny demo of a medieval city builder which is a very saturated market.Aside from the combat which is oppressively weighted against the player, it doesn't do anything really special.Unless you're looking to play in peaceful mode and just make a medieval town, I can't recommend it.
>>475325781That's a shame, i was really looking forward to it.

Archers are fucking useless in manor lords. I had 36 archers firing into unarmored unshielded bandits and it did fuck all. Did medieval folk really shit in their gardens?
>>475517879Look at where people are going from and going to and make the routes there better. And by better I mean don't add more lanes because those don't help. The screenie is bit far away but I believe you have a single file line all along the central route around the roudabout. Why do you think that is? Well if you look at your blocks then almost all of your blocks have their shortest route to the highway trough that roundabout. You could for instance change the main road in such a way that the left block would use the bottom main road instead of the center with just a bit of adjustment. The central blocks seems particularly bad and could probably do with some more entries and exists and maybe some one way roads to direct traffic away from the most busy intersection.Beyond that you could try the usual tricks, namely making sure your intersections on roads are far away from each other, the bigger the road the further away they should be. You could for instance combine the entries to the top and middle blocks on the top road to reduce the impact of the intersection. Another thing would be to count your lanes entering and exiting a given intersection. Having 4 lanes in your main road is completely useless if the only destination that takes you is 1 lane highway entry ramp, you should shrink that road down to 1 lane and then add a second entry ramp on the other side of the town.

Anyone who doesn't have money in manor lords is a straight up cuck. Raiding a bandit tent will give you hundreds of shekels. The camps are at best defended by maybe 18 niggers which is less than your starting army if you play on regular. Usually the camps are empty and basically free money.

Do you need any workers for fallow seasons?
remember that the workers often have time to harvest the fields and plant them for the next year in the fall, if you have a fallow field set it to next year's crop in the summer and the workers will plow it then all they have to do in the fall is sow.

>>475557779Sorry. Fucking phoneposting.Anyway. You get more crops from planting in the fall, not spring, but the workers often don't have enough time to both harvest the crops, and plow and sow for next year. If you have fallow fields, then i the summer set them to the crop you want for the next year. The workers will plow in the summer, leaving only sowing for fall.

how good is manor lords?
>>475603640It's pretty good. I worked out farming and it's OP as shit.It takes a lot of trial and error to get anywhere, but I have a feeling my next town will thrive a lot faster now that I've got farming ratios figured out a bit better. I'm still struggling with when to start taxing since any negative penalty will impact population growth, and the people remember shit from a while ago so if you tax the fuck out of them even briefly it can screw up pop growth for a fair amount time. Also influence growth is slow as shit if the baron kills the bandits, apparently his aggressiveness in this regard is being patched soon(tm) and bandits don't spawn in occupied territories, so after a while there are zero bandit camps to raid for easy gold, which is gay and retarded, it takes a few camps to max out your retinue in size so at the moment the only truly reliable way to build a lot of personal wealth is a thriving town with taxes, also important to note that settling a new area costs you personal wealth, which forces you to decide between doing that or buying 5 new dudes for your retinue. All in all I'd give it like a solid 8/10 so far. It's also aesthetic as fuck which is a big plus.

Farming for wheat is not worth the effort. What do you export for max cash? Seems like the trick is to just export things with a short supply chain. Things get very slow or buggy when it's a long supply chain.
>>475614127Warbows are a good export since they're relatively cheap to produce and also worthless in war. Ok so in the first game(s) i struggled to manage the food past 140 people no matter how many farms i had they seem to produce very little even with decent fertility and also people struggled to process crops even with multiple windmills per farm. Now last game i played i manage to solve the situation you just need to ignore farms, spam chickens, spam huge carrot plots and pick the two skills that discount trade, then proceed to trade bows and yarn out and full trade meat, berries, vegetables and eggs to mantain a stock of 50. I also traded for barley to mantain a tavern. Also traded for weapons.I managed a win with this game (no ai only bandits scenario) but the funny thing is that apparently the victory screen is bugged and will appear every few seconds after you win if you choose to keep playing until the fourth time it appears where you can't click "continue" anymore because the button goes off screen.Game is really good at it's base but needs some serious balancing and bug squashing before it becomes worth it's price. Also i want in-map AIs.
>>475707950looks comfy
Any Old World players here ?Did devs severely dumbed down AI lately ?It used to be able to gather forces before attack, or if simply hold defensive position if it lacks nessesary power to push through. Now it simply sends units one by one to certain death. This game used to have good AI, what happened ?
>>475735562Farming for wheat is in fact fake and gay.
>>475751854Yeah the manpower required to mantain farms is bullshit when you could just have a couple of big carrot plots and 1/4 -1/3 of houses with chicken coops that work for themselves with no requirement.
