you still need to carry a shield to counter swift slash. you're just not instantly dead for not already having it equipped if they start using it. Remember: Block the dash, roll the after effect. Roll the status as needed. Outlast their FP, then rush down. Swift slash shitters crumble in seconds under pressure unless they're actually good at the game and realize that even without FP you can still charge it to gain more distance than you could by sprinting to run indefinitely and get their FP back

I'm using Black Steel Greathammer where I'm trying to use a greatshield and guard breaks. How do I deal with the long animations from attacks where I just stand there? Especially after guard breaks? I find trying to shield block after the attack takes too long and if I roll into a shield block I end up getting hit. This is especially true for bosses like malenia where i try to unload a combo and then she's up in the air and I'm trying to recover from attacking.
