The biggest issue (besides the LN shit) is how the discombobulated plot and low stakes/tension of CS2-4 ruin the missions themselves. e.g. in CS2 the game should have had you doing missions that involved saving civilians and defending towns/cities from noble and imperial forces, mediating ceasefires, helping to transport necessities like food/raw materials/etc., hell you could even have smuggling operations to sneak people in and out of various cities to see family, etc. Shit like that. CS3-4 are a much bigger can of worms but the same principle applies.Erebonia's problem is not necessarily related to design, just wasted opportunity with the plot and writing that permates every facet of the games.

I actually agree with many of wokefag's criticisms, but he misidentifies the root cause. Falcom isn't going woke, they just can't write complex conflict. Every time they try they end up turning the antagonists into dindus who are forgiven for everything. There's no game where two equally sympathetic sides just fucking hate each other for legitimate reasons. Falcom thinks the audience and the main character should react to other characters/ideas in the exact same way, e.g. if the audience sympathizes with Crow or Scarlet or Osborne, then Rean should too, and vice-versa. And conversely if a villain has controversial/"bad" ideas, they should be over-the-top evil so the audience hates them.The only genuinely complex antagonist this series has ever written is Richard, who's still kind of a dindu but at least had to go through a lot to redeem himself.
