You either go first, or you die. That's kinda dumb. On Explorer mode, it's probably like I said with the "fair" fighting. I'm not complaining about honor mode tho. The initiative stacking is part of the challenge, so hey. Is what is. It's a game about becoming a legendary hero. A hero of Baldur's Gate.

Functional and viable even on act 1.Now whenever I go to my locals on every other saturday I feel very weird using my character in combat, since I know I only have my class resources, and maybe a few consumables (like one vial of antidote and a few caltrops).Like, imagine playing a level 6 eldritch knight, with no magic items except for a bag of holding and two common 2d4+2 healing potions, and you have to survive maybe multiple fights after each long rest, without even being allowed to have a short rest to recharge your action surge because time constraints and ambushes are a real thing on tabletop because most DMs will say so.
