It's a normal shader only with specular and shadows hand painted on the texture.

toon shaders simply give that cheap toon shader look, and to fix that is easier to draw everything by hand on the texture.

>>488846830
It's a joke.

The code is exactly what I set out to make. It's generic and reusable. There's no spaghetti. Every feature lets you compose functionality. Make a bullet with a CharacterBody2D/Sprite2D/CollisionShape2D and you just slap nodes onto it to make it do whatever you want like damaging things, applying status effects, spawning aoes, whatever.

I just know in advance that every time I turn something into a node instead of a data-oriented structure, the amount of stuff that the game can do at the same time plummets.

Something that "does everything" is by definition underdeveloped as it doesn't actually have a purpose. The sooner you realize how worthless abstraction layers are the best.
What you seem to be doing is a trait/interface system which can be done far more simply and should be limited to common behavior that can't be inherited.
>>

I've never touched both engines. Actually I'm a master race Unity dev. The only nodes I care about are those found in datastructures. But you nodelets wouldn't understand.

I think it could be interesting if you made it so his targets have super powers and are only vulnerable to specific things. Otherwise he could kill anyone by shooting himself or jumping into a wood chipper.
Alternatively, take away his immortality. He can make others mirror his actions in some way but he also needs to find a way to survive the damage so the challenge is twofold: assassinate the target and find a way to survive the assassination.
I think it would create an interesting dynamic where his plans always need to have a way to beat them.
The problem is that making this game would be like making Hitman twice over so perhaps a little too ambitious.

I like python, its my favorite language for quick scripts/tools I make outside of game dev, but why the fuck did Godot decide it was a good language to emulate for use in a game engine?
python is notoriously slow, its about the only major flaw that makes it unsuitable for certain high level applications, including games Id imagine
the dynamic typing in practice isnt the problem haters make it out to be, but for a game you want to have every possible safeguard against errors and static strong typing seems like itd be a must

gdscript is interpreted which inherently makes it slower than a good compiled lang
makes it faster to prototype because you dont have to wait for it to compile

Just trying to wrap my head around this
>if I move an object one unit per frame at 60 fps, it moves 60 units per second
>Time.deltaTime gives the elapsed time in seconds since the last frame, meaning if update runs at 60fps, deltaTime will be 1/60th (of a second)
>multiplying an object moving one unit per frame at 60 frames per second by deltaTime means it will now moves at one unit per *second*
This means acceleration *also* needs to be multiplied by deltaTime though, right? Given acceleration is units per second squared.
If you want speed to increase by one unit/second every second, you'd have to increment by 1 unit * deltaTime every frame. Otherwise your acceleration would depend on framerate.
>>
>>488855659
I deleted it from my canvas already, but I pretty much copied everything I could from webm
>>
>>488856308
All I know is, you have to multiply by deltatime if you want whatever you are trying to achieve to be frame rate independent.
>>
>>488853142
gdscript only recently added static typing and its not true static typing, its more like flags for the interpreter so that it doesnt have to infer types
>you can make it as strict as you want and the syntax has nothing to do with the language's speed
first of all inferring types does affect speed, but if you had actually read my post I was clearing saying the potential problem with dynamic typing is errors not speed

moving rigidbodies should happen in fixedupdate (add a force, use RigidBody.MovePosition to move with interpolation settings, or set position directly to teleport, maybe slight differences between 2d/3d physics). Calculate the speed change in units per second then multiply by Time.fixedDeltaTime.
You can adjust how many physics updates happen per frame. You can see how many times per second fixedupdate runs by going to Edit > Project Settings > Time > Fixed Timestep then calculating 1 / (that value). The default is 50 physics updates per second.

you are so fucking stupid and functionally illiterate
I never criticized the syntax I clearly said python is my favorite language and thats in large part due to the syntax
I said that interpreted languages and dynamic typing make for a slower language than a compiled strong statically typed language
this is empirically true with gdscript, which even if you use type flags everywhere you can, still underperforms C#

>you can make static typing mandatory in your project.
how? is there a setting in the editor/interpreter? or do you just mean that you can make it "mandatory" as a matter of practice?

I'm the anon who found out last night that my game has had a fucked up framerate for three years due to arcane Game Maker Studio bullshit.

I decided to run the game with the original sleep margin of 1 and collect a sample of the average delta time, hoping that it averages to a common framerate on consoles like 40. If it does, then I can just change the game to run at that framerate, and still be able to port to Switch without any issues. Turns out it rounds to roughly .02 seconds. Which is 50 fps. It's technically closer to 49, but for obvious reasons I'd rather the game run at a clean 50 than 49.

I made a fucking PAL game on accident.

I know nothing about Godot, but from what I know about Python, since it's a script, all the code should be human readable when you run it as opposed to a compiled binary you'd have to reverse engineer.

So does that mean all Godot games release their source code too?

No, but your artwork only has full black shading whereas anything else I can think of like Etrian Odyssey or Darkest Dungeon have the full black shading in addition to normal shading. Same with something like 1940's Batman. Etrian Odyssey in particular also has a lot of glossy metal, latex, or hair that I think full black shading looks particularly good on because glossy materials can look like that naturally. It fits in Darkest Dungeon too because everything is lit by your one torch.

Yes, absolutely. Here's a pretty recent example:
>ex-Hearthstone player/streamer (pic related) put out a big announcement that he's making a digital card game to compete with Hearthstone.
>He put out some videos of him playtesting a very early pen-and-paper prototype of the game.
>This guy has a ton of money so there was actual hype from card game players that something playable would come out of this.
>Then a bit further into development he announced the game would no longer be constructed like Hearthstone, instead it would be a deckbuilder
>People were a bit confused by the shift in direction but still pretty positive.
>Then even further into development, after he had already taken Kickstarter funding for the deckbuilder from retards like me, he announced that the game was going to be some sort of autobattler shit
>By now he had completely ostracized the game from his card game audience that had been following since the initial announcement
>The game is finally releasing pretty soon after years of development with literally no hype since all the fans fucked off
Long story short you will almost certainly make major changes to your game's direction between the initial prototyping and release. Marketing a very early build opens yourself up to people becoming attached to content or mechanics that may not ever end up in the final game. Look at Edengrall, that game started out as something completely different than what it is now.

I know what you mean, I've seen many examples of what you're describing. The difference with this guy is that he actually seemed to understand that you need a game to be fun and appeal to casuals if you ever want to have an actual audience. He wasn't like one of those ex-pro Magic spergs who tries to "fix Magic" with his own game that ends up being some clunky hypercompetitive shit that no casual player wants to touch with a ten foot pole. He has some videos early on in the game's development where he talks about game feel and class identity and what the average player finds appealing, something no competitive nerd even thinks about.

I tore the note and threw it to the floor. To hell with it. Who cares if these games are lame! It game to me and I intend to play this through and see the end of it. >How does this not destroy your CPU?
I have a Ryzen 5 3600 + RTX 2060, not sure how beefy that is by today's standard.
This video has 10k mines + 10k girls and run at 180-200 fps. It goes down to 50-60 when they actually step on some mines, and that's entirely due to those explosions using Unity's default particle system - making my own is on the ToDo list but it's going to require a mountain of autism so I keep pushing that back.

>Are they all following the same AI behavior tree?
It's mostly because everything is fully multi-threaded, be it AI or physic.
Their AI is also relatively primitive, roughly what you would find on very old games: just enough logic to reach the closet target without bumping into or attacking the walls too often, but not much beyond that. Not sure if I should make them smart or not, I kinda like the "lemmings but really angry" feel.

>This many individual ticking skeletal meshes would absolutely nuke any top of the line pc
I'm only using skeletal meshes for cutscenes. In-game, it's 100% vertex animation.

Writing
Programming
Sound
Art
Design

Writing means actual work like dialogue, narration, flavor text. If you do not do those things then any ideas you have for writing are worthless.

Design means actual work like level design, not ideaguying. Only real developers who do real work are capable of having good ideas.

Make something that looks good to gamers and dont give a shit about amatuer art dev fags

The problem with tring to make appealing art for artdev agdg fags is they are so negative they say something looks bad even if it looks good because they are jealous they didn't make it or release a game with it. The toxic crab curse has effected most indie devs and it would be the same on every social media if all of them weren't moderated and anonymous like here is. Its the same on reddit only they are lying to you with positivity while saying out loud to themselves its dogshit while hoping you fail like they did.

Its even more hilarious if you make custom assets for everything and not even use AI but everybody who is a dev will claim you used AI or bought assets as a quick way to destroy others from looking at your work SO instead people look at their work and value their work instead of yours.

The only thing that matters is gamers. These communities with other devs are only good for picking part some value out of the 100 piles of shitposts you'll get; you will get 1 diamond of feedback.

Which one? Lol jk I only have two for a specific future game and those are off limits due to how fierce competition appears to be. The rest of my pics that kinda count as inspo are just scattered about and some don't even have pics eg the dream I had today.

With that said I have one pic that should sell the idea of one of my future desired dream games. My dream of making a true exploration game with heavy exploration requires a much higher skill level than I currently have, I need something on par with Skyrim's graphic's alternatively this other game with a different style but it'll sell the game differently. It's the easiest way to describe what kind of graphics I want for it. Nothing higher as more modern triple A looks too realistic and doesn't fit the style I'm going for. I could make a 2D one but it just won't have the same impact that 3D can give, the sense of awe and wonder.

The air was cold. the streets empty. The note had said "105 central". I suppose it meant grand central station. Then again, it could mean anything. But a lead is a lead, and I've g ot nothing better to do. In the distance the echo of the L-track filled the abondonned city. The darkness was occasionally pierced by a dim street light. For a second I thought I saw someone leaning against the entrance of an alley. When I had looked a second time there was nobody there. 105 Central, I'd better get on with this. I take another sip from the bottle but find it is empty. Guess I'll have to face the music sober tonight, just like 10 years ago. What a night that was. And what a night this turned out to be...

My best bet was to join the rats and find my own warm place to hide. But I had a feeling someone wasn't going to let me. I caught a glimpse of a reflection, a gun perhaps. The movement was quick and deliberate. Without much thought I jump to the pavement as a bullet ricochets just above my head against a lamp post. Goddammit, this doesn't look good. I hasten to get my gun unholstered but its stuck. The gunman dissapears into the dark alley. "Consider this a warning!", he screams as he disappears for good. A warning for what?...

this sort of thing is pointlessly confusing in the abstract. apply actual numbers to it and it becomes easy.

initial speed 2 m/s at time 0
final speed 3 m/s at time 1
that's an acceleration of 1 m/s2

>speed += 1f * deltaTime
accomplishes this. I'll leave you to ponder where your misunderstanding with the squared seconds lies as it's not important for JLMG.

I've seen this sort of hype before and it never ends well for the game. The average person sees something that reminds them of something else they like (in this case probably BOTW). They immediately form a mental connection in their head that this game is going to be like BOTW when it releases. When the game eventually does release it's nothing like the game people thought it would be like, because the game people thought it would be was made by dozens of professional developers and this is an amateur project. It's empty, repetitive, and gets mediocre to bad reviews.
I'm kinda worried this is going to happen to Road to Vostok.

"You suppose it's that decommissioned train down at grand central station? You know the one, I think they called it 'the eagle'". The Eagle had been state of the art, back in its day. That was 50 years ago. Some of the old decommissioned trains were kept in a depot, especially ones like The Eagle. Put away in a dark hole to be forgotten. How does building the world map for an open-world game work (in Unity)?
Do I just drag shit into the scene? Or have a list of all the game objects somewhere that loads them all in at a designated place?
How does distance-based culling work? I assume more than just visuals are culled on the opposite side of the map in, say, Skyrim, but how do you load a cell in when it's close enough that you need it back?

I think the shadow of the large pillar is too long. If you look at the angle of the balustrade's shadow, especially the farthest section, the sun appears to be high up in the sky. Also the shadow of the bridge falling onto the terrain below it seems to be in a different angel than the one of the pillar.

whats the action/verb called when sea animals throw their prey up into the air out of the water to play with it
>>
>>488886575
Torture
>>
>>488886575
The action you're describing is often referred to as "breaching." In the context of sea animals, particularly in marine mammals like dolphins and some large fish, breaching involves leaping out of the water and sometimes tossing prey into the air. This behavior can serve multiple purposes, including play, communication, and hunting. For example, dolphins are known to engage in this behavior with their prey as a form of play or to disorient their catch.

This is it. Every single core system has been coded and works perfectly except for the biggest system that can singlehandedly break every single other thing. Time to work on other stuff for several weeks and avoid this problem as long as possible.

This unironically covers the concept of a future game I want to make but don't intend on doing anytime soon due to the difficultly of it as a solodev. I have neither pixelgold/amazing 3D tier art skills. I could make do with my coding skill level as I learn along with contracting for audio, but to get the art to that level? Yeah I doubt that'd happen in the next 3 years unless you paid me $50k a year to just stay home and learn art 7 hours a day, 5 days a week. I don't think I'm gonna share my broad ideas anymore. I thought it'd be difficult for any random amatuer dev to copy my broadest ideas so I assumed there'd be near 0 danger of sharing such. Lo and behold this literal 2 man team is far too close to said idea, if they can make that without me even mentioning my idea, then what is the risk in sharing my idea and someone trying to duplicate it as well? Gamedev is truly saturated that team's this small appear out of nowhere and are capable of that. Not the first time I've seen such a skilled indie team.

40 to 60 games release on Steam alone EACH DAY.
About 350 games in the week around your release.
AAA release? Successful release AAA or indie, in your genre? BOOM you are done.
Also, not only are you competing with other new releases, but the entire backlog of games on every system a player owns. :)

Take all the "indie success stories" you can think of in the past 10 years and divide it by the number of devs in that time who have tried (again, 50 games a day, 1500 a month) and there's your historical likelihood of "making it."

Steam cut, higher self-employment taxes, no benefits, no retirement, AND to top it all off: Your sales diminish over time, so even if you hit this "mediocrity lottery" you'll have to do it all over again in a couple years.

- 65 minutes work UI This is a menu game, not a parkour one.
- 108 minutes work on initial turn implementation. Spent more time diagraming/brainstorming on things I want to implement then I did writing the actual implementation.
- 47 minutes on animation
- 13 minutes spent on getting a pause menu up
- 7 minutes solving some bugs
Sort of solved my icon size consistency issue by putting the same square behind each icon at 1% opacity so things are trimmed to consistent sizes. I don't like it and it's actually not really useful for UI icons which are scaled to a consistent size anyway, but I can use it for buildings later I guess.
Tomorrow I'll probably work on more sensible edge generation, building taking a turn instead of being instant as well as costing money, and population, food consumption, starvation.
Also have to start composing some music sooner rather then later if I want anything good by the end of the month

I feel physically sick at the thought of advertising on Twitter, Reddit, and Tiktok. Can I just make a good game and simply market it on:

And call it a day? There is just something about going on there that repulses me, like being amongst people I don't even want anywhere near me. Sorta like a job interview where the disgusting interviewer just came out of the restroom and didn't wash his hands but is clearly coming in for a handshake. Doctrine selection now correctly shows in the doctrine tree.

TODO:
> Doctrine assignment: Update the correct stats when selecting the doctrine -> probably need a doctrine manager / helper on the player
> Doctrine selection feedback: Some feedback mechanism showing a doctrine selection -> possibly on the doctrine game menu button or an effect... need to think about it
> Doctrine tree node updater: Doctrines need to be added to a sub-tree that prunes and updates every time a doctrine is added
> Doctrine icons: Need to create all the icons and add the doctrines themselves
> Visual representation of rarity in doctrine tree -> thinking about it

August goals:
> Complete doctrine system
> Add point system (to add items to ships)
> modify travel system
> put together a basic demo

I unironically made several twitter accounts some time ago when I was unsure on what dev name I wanted for myself. I tried signing into one of the accounts without using my home IP at one point.
>this account has been suspended for breaking ToS
A website where I set up an account and proceeded to do no posting with it. Their logic is probably making fake accounts but how would they know considering, iirc, I IP hopped while creating some of these accounts to avoid the literal joke of a suspicious activity check google and other social media sites do on new account accounts that feel like datamining. I can't even delete it because apparently when you are suspended you're not allowed to delete it and must request unsuspension before deleting. Don't think I ever gave them my real name, address, or birthdate.

Not even sure how to go about advertising on twitter. Feels a lot easier just making youtube videos and uploading gameplay. Much easier marketing too since the people going there are probably intrigued by it rather than just some gamedevs or random twitter users just looking for a dopamine hit that never even buy games. If the game is good it in my opinion should have an easy time getting a following, whether you post it on youtube or twitter. I'd rather post on youtube in such a scenario. Feels like theirs a bigger audience of actual gamers that may actually buy your game unlike twitter.

I have this problem/bug in my game does anyone know a solution to it by any chance? Ive heard its called tunneling, basically I want the player to be able to prop themselves up with a separate collision box so I have that seperate collision box set the players velocity to 0 if its colliding with a tile, but if the player falls too fast the collision box sort of sinks into the tile and then I have to jump to the surface of it before I can jump normally, Ive also noticed that it does something similar in corners

Have you considered that maybe you don't actually want to make a game? It's perfectly fine if you don't. For some reason there seems to be a strange social pressure to "be a gamedev" in modern times, which has been pushing a lot of people who don't actually want to make games to waste their own time doing something they don't enjoy.

how do I lock the viewport camera to a certain axis in the 3D editor in godot? Im trying to place my camera node in the perfect position/angle and I use the set rotation and position shortcuts to move the node to the exact angle and position of my viewport view
I use the number pad to move the view (currently I go 7-5-2-2), but I want an angle thats between the set angles of the numpad shortcuts
is there a way to more precisely control the viewport view? or do I have to fiddle with the camera node by manually tweaking values in the side panel?

Do Americans know that they're rich? Like not just as a country but as individuals the average American is richer than almost 90% of the world. You can work some bullshit retail job and be able to hire competent artists or programmers to help you with gamedev.
Meanwhile I'm barely eking out a living from gamedev and I have to do everything myself because I can't afford to hire even thirdies because I'm a thirdie myself.

Nah, it's also in purchasing power parity. Other countries have the same problem.
I think the problem is a lot of people think they're average or "middle class" when they're in fact poor. It's hard to face the fact that they don't measure up to the standards in their country and they cope they're somewhere around the middle when in fact they're in the bottom 15%.
The average American can hire two competent Albanians to work full time remotely.

why do people talk about state machines as if they're some sort of advanced technique for improving your game? ALL games are state machines, inherently. you can't make a game that ISN'T just a bunch of state machines. but I constantly see redditors see the dumbest shit, "you should learn about state machines, it'll blow your mind", "you should try using a state machine for that", so on. it's like telling a footballer to try kicking the ball.

I partly doubt this, maybes it for select countries where the prices tanked. I've seen the price 3rd worlders are asking. It's as much as 1st worlders. It's annoying, I was told they'd be cheaper but I have to pay 1st world rates. Why even hire them then? There's a language barrier that makes it harder to communicate. I may as well just hire some english speaker that's in a 1st world country for the same price.

>>488903489
I haven't seen the prices come down at all. And now with AI in the way I have to sift even harder so I don't just get both a high price and AI art. If they're going to hand me AI art, I'd rather just train up an AI and do it myself so I can get close to what I want.

easy to have no tutorial with platformers. making a card game so a tutorial is essential.
>>
>>488907820
For a while I was considering including a diegetic tutorial level like Thief's training level or Half-Life's hazard course level, but now I think I'm going pure "learn as you go"/"hidden tutorial" where mechanics are naturally introduced in the first few levels.
>>
>>488909078
Yeah games with a lot of complex rules is hard. But it's not just platformers, puzzle games and RPGs teach you the mechanics over time (Golden Sun was very good at this) and the puzzles got harder, there's shooter games where you learn over time what to do because you used a mechanic from a previous stage, etc.

I'd generally avoid tutorials unless need be. Let the player figure shit out on their own.

I believe WebGPU+TSL are going to win a lot of people over from Unity to Three.js as the major indie dev engine. Especially when someone writes a full wrapper for Babylon's Havok.wasm physics for three.js.

I was on the bus today and some kids were talking about how some tv shows use Unreal Engine and one of them really hated it because "it's a game engine not a movie engine!". 30s to 1min but tiktok loves 1min mark and original content. you can get some $ with it after reaching 10k followers with +1min videos

>schedule
post 1 to 3 videos/day at the start, you can decrease your posts rate after 100 followers and it unlocks to go live too. make bad videos but post them, can be related to your game or gamedev in general, it does not matter at the beginning you can always private or delete old videos later and 95% your views are not from followers. Analyze your videos data and improve

>reply with videos
on tiktok you can reply comments with videos it helps to increase your reach

also see other gamedev channels to learn.
what i like the most is how videos are distributed there, you see live the numbers going up until it stops, so you have to post another one to gain more visibility, after 100+ followers all videos start to get views organically, just keep the consistency

>>488913697
I've said this time and time again but when shitty XBLA games made using XNA were enough to churn out a shit ton of money and even kick start some studios (looking at you SKA Studios although Dishwasher was fucking awesome), it's pretty apparent that "golden age of indie" devs merely profited from the lack of semi-decent quality competition. If everyone's favorite 'Limbo' released today it would be a G2A random bundle key. Same with Braid. Yume Nikki would probably get a couple /v/ threads and that's it. QWOP wouldn't even trigger the algorithm. VVVVV? 50 cent Fanatical game. It's hard to take a stance against nostalgia but in your heart you know it's true.

It's been piss-easy to make a 2D platformer for like 40 years at this point. Super Mario for the NES was made by 2 programmers in like 6 months and they did that shit in 6502 assembly. Making a 2D platformer for Xbox with XNA in 2008 is hardly the herculean task people make it out to be.
All it comes down to is "indie games" not being something anyone had thought of yet, hence no competition.
>>
Do you people actually work on a game, or just come here to speculate on sales of random games? It's so weird, there's like 680 replies and there's only couple of games. Tim Cain said Pillars of Eternity had a huge switch statement and so did (reportedly) Baldur's Gate 2 and it was fine so I hope this puts the matter to rest for eternity.

I made another boss. This one will summon rain clouds that spiral around the room and damage your allies.

Today I found out there are video game OST jams. Maybe I can find a cheap musician in the style I want in there. Sharing with my friends in here.

why do all your abilities have a cooldown when you use only one?

I watch videos of cute Japanese women.

At the end of the day, if the code works and you don't see a significant drop in performance, you're good to go. Doesn't matter how shitty it looks.

Global cooldown of 1 second. Hotkey combat needs a small break between spell casts to allow the animation to play and to avoid the situation of casting 7 instant spells at the same time.
>>
>>488927308
how big is your switch statement?

I can't believe how good Americans have it. You can invest into AMD and Nvidia and Gamestop or index funds and have a decent passive income.
In my country stocks are basically dead and to invest in more dynamic markets I have to jump a million hoops and have all my earnings eaten by currency exchanges.
But playing with stocks is so much fun, it's like gambling except if the house wins, you win too.
I hate being a thirdie. Gamedev is the only thing where I'm sort of on the level with first worlders.

poor timing for this post but overall rather true. GME's first runup at least got me money to live for a couple years but unfortunately I didn't just transfer to a fund like I should have.

This is a good idea if i ever have money. Maybe I should try and enter one instead one day

I get it but I stupidly put myself in a lot of debt over college then my health was nuked and I struggle to earn large amounts of money now. Still carried by being in america regardless

Sure we can buy all the funko pops we want but the moment you want to buy a house and have children, good fucking luck.
They're building some houses near me. Finally, some new houses! How much do they cost? Apparently the cheapest are about $700,000.

If I keep earning as much as I currently am on gamedev, which is about average for my age, I'll be able to afford a house when I'm 60.
If I get to do gamedev I'm still fine with that. The goal is to earn more, of course.

i watch a lot of american bodycam footage, and a lot of it seems positively utopian compared to the state of things here in the the UK. given that it's police footage, i doubt it's an unrealistically pleasant view of the US.

Ok, so here's my report. I mostly had trouble with missed keystrokes (and walking when I got up to piss) but my higher order thinking didn't seem affected that much. I implemented inventory drag&drop and item stacking and I didn't make any boneheaded mistakes.

I've never been drunk in my life and I'm well past the drinking age. I'd rather not grief my dev efficiency for no reason or drink carcinogenics

There are three local variables in that screenshot. delta, tryingToJump and tryingToSlide.
>>
>>488933297
parameters but ok
>>
The fundamental problem with searching for a dev team on /agdg/ is almost every anon here has their own idea of what they want to make or have already started and are unwilling to compromise or start on a new idea entirely. Unless you are paying money for a team, it is unwise to hold so tightly to an idea.
>>
>>488933412
Parameters are inherently local variables. They get popped off the stack once the function completes. You should learn your terminology, so you don't get confused when talking to fellow programmers.
>>
>>488906996
i don't drink alcohol. tried various sorts of drinks, they all taste like shit and make me feel uncomfortable. can't imagine why people willingly ingest that crap.
>>
>>488933160
personally I only use self. to grab a property that is inherent to the node that the script is attached to, not to refer to something that is in the script itself. Something like fall() or slide() would just by that by itself, I'd only do self.fall() if fall was a function built into the node.
>>
>>488933472
I would gladly work on a game with someone completely from scratch where we both come up with an idea together and compromise, but I don't consider myself worthy unless I finish something all by myself. There's also the issue of filtering for people with similar tastes in games as me, or with similar dedication. So I think the easiest way would be for me to release my game, get 10 to 100 reviews, and then team up with another anon who also released a game with 10 to 100 reviews.

people are self destructive because they hate themselves

the same people who mindlessly repeat "premature optimization is the root of all evil" will happily spam their code with premature disambiguation, making it harder and more tedious to read

>>488933954
so true

Alcohol has been used as a social drink for thousands of years. If you're an antisocial person or have no friends then you won't get it, sorry.
>>
>>488933635
All the shit about alcohol being self-destructive mostly refers to people who drink it every week. Just don't be an alcoholic.
>>
>first 20 times you drink alcohol

the sprites are reversed.
notice the corners flip, and so the speech bubble *is* fitting to the text, it's just expanding to the left to fit the text instead of shrinking from the right.

That's the same cope as people saying they never drink coffee and have energy all the time.
The difference when you actually do drink coffee is very noticeable, you were just used to certain thresholds and thought that was as good as it gets.
