Being able to destroy fabricators from any angle is not what makes or breaks the commando on the bot front. You're delusional if you think it is.

It makes the SPEAR completely pointless. Fucking thing can't even kill hulks from the front reliably while the commando can take out 4 of them with a single call in faster than the SPEAR can kill one. The SPEAR being able to kill fabs without needing the vent shot is the only value it has for bots and the commando shits all over that. Killing tanks from any angle? Commando does that too, two at a time without needing a reload.

AT weapons are overall off-meta for bots. Even with their special properties, Spear and Commando only have a niche presence in bot d10s. Non-AT supports like AC and AMR take center stage. In this context any reduction in utility on either Spear or Commando will make them irrelevant versus bots. Bet on it.

You get the occasional goof pick like a Tesla tower or firebomb hellpods but those aside it's all OPS, barrages, HMG emplacements, Spear, 2-4 autocannons, etc. Quintessential meta picks. Helldivers 2 is a casual, easy game. Its systems are basic, endgame progression or prestige systems nonexistent, but most crucially it's just not hard. Missions have a success rate in excess of 90% across all difficulties. If Arrowhead are serious about wanting this to be Tarkov in space or some shit they'll have to sit their asses down and keep developing the game for a whole shitload of years. It's effective, but you're right. As everyone else points out it's not an actual heavy machine gun, it's more like a Heavy Combat Rifle. It doesn't feel like a HMG and certainly doesn't operate like one.

I enjoy using it (it feels more forgiving than the Autocannon) but every time I do I'm reminded that its name is a lie. We really need a backpack-linked belt-fed machine gun that isn't limited in ammo and that you can hold down the trigger on.

You're wrong. No game in existence has ever survived on its gameplay loop alone. Not even fucking Tetris. There's a distinct lack of endgame progression and it's why people are fucking off. There's no reward for being maxed out and crushing the highest difficulty. While we don't need everything to be a forever game, Arrowhead missed the mark hard by deciding to forego endgame progression akin to DRG's weekly unlock system. HD2 would easily retain multitudes of its current player base if it had anything on offer for those that have unlocked all ship upgrades as well as warbond and superstore items. Systems to retain players after completing the game are as old as video games themselves and, again, there's no benefit from refusing to implement such systems.

Most of the "nerfing" in EoF wasn't actual nerfing but rather replacing a shitton of enemies with harder to kill variants (alpha commander) that also can one-shot you (rocket chicken), or are just outright broken (impliers, barrager tank), or are exactly the same as an already hated enemy but it also lugs a fucking fog cloud around it so you can see even less than usual (spore charger).
Also the new biome is exactly the same as the one added in previous patch, but with more fucking fog.

And the "but there's more!" that was advertised turned out to be jack and shit or at least tied to story progression and will be drip fed over the next six months.

In this case, it wasn't the nerfs. It was just the entire patch being lackluster and decreasing fun instead of increasing it.

Even the good things (D10, mega outposts) are hindered by broken patrol spawns just appearing out of thin air in front of and behind you and excessive ragdolling from impliers and command bunker turrets respectively.

Most people, I feel, are just too dumb to understand this and blame nerfs instead of power creep and bugged broken messes of enemies.

Breaches and drops are practically inevitable when off cooldown. Kill as many enemies trying to call for help as you want, they simply pass the torch to the next available caller. Or shit, they'll just continue to call after they get killed. The only weapons where this issue turns a 1 shot kill into a 2 shot kill, or a 2 shot kill into a 3 shot kill are the adjudicator, diligence, slugger, peacemaker, verdict, senator, HMG, EAT, RR, and quasar.

For the adjudicator it's scavenger and shrieker body shots going from 1 shots to 2
Diligence and verdict is devastator head shots going from 1 to 2
Peacemaker is warrior heads going from 2 to 3
Senator its hunter body shots going from 1 to 2
HMG is warrior head shots going from 1 to 2
EAT, RR, Quasar is behemoth front legs only and all chargers rear body armour going from 1 shots to 2

Any other instances where this changes a breakpoints its already costing you a decent number of shots so 1 extra shot doesn't make a difference in how the gun feels. Yeah it sucks for those specific weapons but it's not like this is a universal problem where all our guns are taking 2 or 3 extra bullets to kill every enemy

I think the point where they could have salvaged the game has probably come and gone. If they released the Illuminate tomorrow, who's left to even care? SMG is more about the caliber, an M4A1 is full auto and magazine fed but it's a carbine. As for LMG, the only one off the top of my head that can be both belt fed or magazine fed is the M249 SAW, I wasn't a SAW gunner myself but I once heard one describe it as Shit Ain't Working if you have to try to use M16 mags in it.

If you gave beam weapons stagger exactly 0.3 pico-seconds after you start beaming that devastators or berserkers or even raiders head they will flinch. They will flinch and now your precision beam weapon that relies on you continuously and consistently hitting the same tiny weakpoint is now no longer hitting that tiny weakpoint. In other words you've now massively increased the time to kill and made the one problem beam weapons have even fucking worse. Do you understand now? If beam weapons staggered enemies they would take even longer to actually kill what you are aiming at and thus be worthless.

And stagger means fucking nothing unless the stagger is so high it physically stuns and knocks them back, else they can still shoot you with the same accuracy and approach you with the same speed, but now you've made it so you have a harder time killing them.

This video was uploaded february 22nd. The "nerf" you think happened was patch 000.100 which was released march 6th, 12 days after this video was recorded and uploaded. At this time stamp, exactly 15 minutes in, this person fires a laser cannon at the face shield of a scout strider. The face shield has 4 armour and the laser cannon DEFLECTS off of it, meaning it didn't penetrate it at all. Pic fucking related, clearly deflecting off the 4 armour. The laser cannon didn't always have 4 penetration, it had 3 penetration and then got buffed to 4.

And look here at this video, uploaded february 24th, 8 days before the patch that supposedly nerfed the laser cannon.

The time it takes to kill these raiders with chest shots is absolutely not 600 DPS. In fact it's killing them as slowly as the scythe at 300 DPS did. It was never 600 DPs that got nerfed to 300, it was always 300 that then got later buffed to match the scythes 350 DPS when hey both got buffed in patch 000.300.

The first one (the one you're talking about) increased its armour pen by one level (3 to 4). It was really, REALLY fucking good then, could kill hulks quickly and saw off their limbs in no time.
Then there's the second "buff" that happened later. This one pretty much halved its damage (600dps to 350dps) and gave it increased durable damage, which is what the "increased damage to high volume parts" or whatever bit is about.

Accuracy became significantly less rewarding while inaccuracy became more rewarding.

And you're not even right about this either. The first patch that buffed the penetration is the one that also increased its durable damage. The one that you think nerfed its DPS from 600 to 350 was the one that decreased its durable damage, that's why it felt like it took longer to kill hulks and cut off their limbs after that point.
