It's amazing how much more fun you have with this game when you speedrun the main objective and then fuck around the map doing the other stuff. Extra points if you're max level and already unlocked everything.

A Titan and Charger with their spines EXPLODED from their bodies by Heavy Weapons trundle along after you like they only just spawned in.

Forced to run AT, and the heavies that can technically be killed without heavy penetration take fucking forever to kill. Having to run around in circles like a sped while AT is on cooldown because a Bile Titan spawned is just shit.
You can shoot the limbs off bots to disable their attacks but no such thing exists with Terminids. A bug could be missing half its torso and have its head blown off and it still runs at you full speed with the same precision and lethality. You blow up the glowing green squishy underside of a BT and it gets faster for some reason? It's fucking miserable.

I can generate hope but I will never expect Arrowhead to not be capable of shitting the bed at a moments notice, from everything I've seen a Swede is incapable of making a Live Service Videogame. You give them time they can make something acceptable but it's a lot of fucking time needed.
Other's though? Probably not. The outlook for Helldivers is fucking so far in the water it's insane, from people talking about it around town like a peak Game of Thrones episode too people call folk mentally ill for suggesting it could be GOTY.

Lets take a look at their business plan for the next 60 (45) days

Unfortunately, I don't really see any positive future for the game if the devs don't get their shit together soon. Most likely, if the "60 days to fix everything" falls flat OR they nerf random shit one update later, then this game has no long term future.

NTA, and Arc Thrower is great against both factions.
AMR, LC, RG, Stalwart, MMG, EAT, GL all great.
Flamethrower can kill stuff, but it's just a damage sprinkler.
Break-action is literally worse than a primary weapon, and it's still ok to have.
SPEAR, RR, AC, Quasar, Airburst, HMG and backpacks would also be great, they just don't spawn at all, same for backpacks.
If you get 1 random support weapon (not the flamethrower or B-AS and are running 4 red stratagems, you are basically God.

That was a quote from Alexus trying to justify why the arc thrower's range was nerfed from back when the PS5 host bug was still a thing and ALL support weapons were doing 10 times the damage they should be if you had a PS5 network host. With a PS5 host a it only took 2 or 3 zaps from the arc thrower to either completely blow out the sides of the bile titan or obliterate its head. In that context the arc trower being able to kill bile titans in jsut a few zaps fro ma range of 50 meters is "slapping bile titnas from across the map"

Yes this does mean they nerfed the arcthrower over a bug, but worse than that it means they DIDN'T UNDERSTAND HOW THEIR OWN FUCKING GAME WORKS. If they knew the numbers on the arcthrower and the bile titans and knew how the damage system works and how its calculated then they would have known that a single zap to obliterate the bile titans spine shouldn't be possible. They should have known the bile titans armour has 100% durability and 650 health and the arc thrower only does 50 durable damage so there should have been no fucking way in hell it should have been performing that strongly.

Helldivers 2 doesn't even treat guns or ballistics realistically at all. AT rockets use shaped charges, the speed at which they impact is irrelevant when a liquified copper stream goes 10km/s. Me diving towards an enemy to increase damage is idiotic.

Carbine just means shorter barrel. The Liberator Carbine has a barrel that is MAYBE 2 inches shorter, how this leads to a 50% increase in rate of fire I don't know. You'd have to swap out the receiver assembly, the spring mechanism, etc to change the ROF. The weapons temperature can also change the ROF based on the springs temperature. The increased recoil makes a little bit of sense.

The Eruptor bullet, despite being a gyrojet, just disappears around 160m in game if I recall. They should be INCREASING in velocity until the fuel runs out, then dropping off, not vanishing from existence. Why does a sniper rifle have a maximum range?

A triple-shot Bushwacker would break your wrist with recoil.

The Lib Concussive says it does less damage despite doing more damage.

The Spray & Pray fires birdshot for some reason? It also floats in the air whenever you drop it. Quality QA there.

It changes nothing for EAT/RR/quasar/SPEAR/Commando shots since they already beat the armour of the head.
For AC/AMR/lasercannon./HMG it means you can actually damage the head since it drops from 5 armour to 4 armour. To kill the head you need:
6 AC shots
11 AMR shots
28 HMG shots
7.3 seconds of laser cannon fire
...provided all the shots actually do damage.

here's what I'd do to solve the infinite AR crisis
>delete every liberator + tenderizer and a bunch of others
>new lib is a "build your own primary" deal
>reform libpen, concussive, carbine, etc etc into one of ammo types you can choose, keep adding to them
>underbarrel slot: every available grenade type gets an underbarrel ammo version, including a launchable bayonet
>can switch between red dot, 200m, or no scope
>booster slot for special modifiers like an auto reloader, infrared scope, drum magazine
of course sweden would first need to learn how to develop games and then find the will to do it but my theory of a perfect AR is this, the underbarrel slot alone would catapult them back into the meta versus spammer guns like cookout or high dps like jar-5, diligence cs.

idk maybe they changed it. If i don't aproach any guards or patrols, the dog does not engage them to at least half of it's max range, aka you need to be pretty much within detection range for it to proc.
The thing is, sometimes you can actually breakaway quietly from detection range if you are quick, but the dog does not let aggro slide.

Played 3 D7 on bugs yesterday.
The first 2 were uneventful fully controlled clean sweeps.
The third one was Behe-Titan-Imp spam, that the moment a breach occurs, there is always a patrol that creeps up from behind. By the time you are done with one or the other, another patrol is already around the corner. Literally had a moment where bugs were closing in from all directions. It was cool but not something i expect from D7.

There is a pretty big variablity even in the difficulties between how it handles enemy compsition, base layouts, reinforcements, what kind of map its.
Yesterday I had an absolutely miserable time on the spooky swamp biome vs. d10 bots. Just nothing would go right, every single line of fire was covered by bots perfectly, couldn't peak past cover properly because I couldn't see shit.
Actual failed mission due to reinforcements running out, I haven't done that since maybe when I was new.

But also you are probably getting better.

every time I switch armors I remember everything I love about it
fortified commando just feels so retarded and fun on d10 bots, tanking instakills for any other unit before just dying to impact anyway, running around in the huge fucking shell, etc.

probably the most fun armor in the game just for the purpose of roleplaying as a superheavy SEAF unit that gets shit done
the +15% resist over heavy is unironically the breaking point that lets you feel like a one man army when other armors don't, especially if you can slurp an ally's shield/supply pack

Unironically, Piles. AH was always a very small studio, Piles should know 99% of the important things to know about everything.
He also fully understands why the games are fun.
His vision is great.
He doesn't want to nerf things, he just wants the game to be fun and realistic if possible, because realism is his fetish (but he's willing to give it up for fun, because he's an old style developer that understands that fun is the most important key aspect about videogames).
What I don't have hope for, is the engine surviving this constant "live" service rape.
Most of the bugs will never get fixed, and I mean NEVER EVER.

Will the game improve? Most likely the game is already done for. If someone can save it, that's Piles. If he can't do it, we are done.

I feel disillusioned with him at the moment because he's made empty promises and he has a hard time dealing with community discussions that aren't pure softball. Nerfs that happened ages ago, which he said "we've gone too far with" haven't been reverted or even revised. The Eruptor is still a complete nonsense weapon which lies about its effects in its description. ARs are still bad. The Purifier is still bad, and was never even for a moment rendered usable. It's all just very short of the expectations he's built.

If, in 60 days, Alexus is fired or he's restrained/retrained in some other way, I'll get my hopes and dreams back. Right now, there's nothing to latch onto apart from the minor success of a game that came out almost 10 years ago.
