I suppose I'll just blog my thoughts on the book, since there's not a ton of interest in a book club.So, I finished the first book of Don Quixote and started on part 2, and over all, I've been enjoying it. I have picked it up and dropped it a few times, but on the whole, it's been good.I went into the story expecting Don Quixote to be a sort of admirable person, in the same way I think fans of Limbus Don like to interpret her. Someone who, though obviously delusional, is trying to fight for justice and chivalry and such in spite of a cynical world. However, that is absolutely not the kind of person he is. Yes, he will *say* he fights for justice and god and the weak and all that, but in reality, all he really seems to care about is fame and attention. It's always "I am the greet Don Quixote! Knight Errant, a name soon to be on the lips of all those in Spain!". He will say he cares about the weak and for justice, and then try to literally kill someone who says something he disagrees with. He's unbelievably short tempered, extremely violent, and self aggrandizing. I literally can't recall a single time Don ever acts in a selfless, helpful way towards anyone. He's not even brave , quite often he will claim a "knight such as himself" is of too high a station to fight someone else, and pussy out, letting Sancho get his ass beat. Every Don scene is the same joke and its pretty repetitive. Cervantes clearly agrees, though he finds it more funny, but he never trys to sugarcoat Don's actions. I hope PM will also call out our Don similarly, as the way the both of them live is bullshit and selfish.That being said, I did like the book, mostly for the side stories that make up much of the contents. Cervantes has a pretty modern voice, especially on relationships and women, and many of the tales make for a good comparison to Don. That being said, I'm not sure the 50 page NTR story in the middle was necessary. I really liked the story of the shepherdess and Captive's tale (1/2)

Unlike Don, who is genuinely an intelligent person (we see this at the start of book 2 when he speaks to the Priest and the Canon) but completely delusional, Sancho is a retard, but often sees through and doubts the things Don tells him. Yet... this never actually goes anywhere. Don often beats him up, or leads him to situations where he gets beaten up. Many times Don is extremely cruel and verbally abuses him for simply doubting something, or pointing out something obvious that his delusional master is ignoring. I'm curious how they'll interpret him in-game... given the name of her EGO maybe he is dead but still, he'll be in flashbacks. I hope they don't sugarcoat this relationship in game, Don is seldom kind to the poor guy, despite his near boundless loyalty. Dulcinea is another person people seem to be excited for in Limbus, though, at least in book 1, Don never even meets her. If this remains the case in book 2, they could just imply be come concept or object that Don aspires towards, instead of some kind of romantic interest like in the book. She's more so his ideal of what a knight errant chases after and longs for in all his books, so it could be some fixer lore thing in Limbus, as we have heard nothing about famous fixers being known for having dramatic love lives Roland and Angelica (whom are mentioned quite a bit in the book) just sorta had a normal relationship before her death, after all. Plus Don has never mentioned Dulcinea ever in limbus (unlike heathcliff with Cathy before his canto, and Outis alluding to Penelope) so, its very possible she's been cut altogether, given Don literally cant shut up about her in the book.
