>>498121938
the chart was mostly made by comparing stats to what we already have in the game and that felt like what most units would end up as.
>No Eldar weapons platform majoris
>Necron Immortals not Majoris
it's not an exhaustive list but feel free to add them man.
the goal was to give everything race one melee and one ranged minoris, one majoris, two extremis, a terminus and a boss.
>No Tau XV25 Stealth Battlesuit majoris
I was on the fence about whether they'd properly fit as majoris or just a boss mob.
>Warboss, Exarchs, and Lychguard being WAAAY too far down the powerscale
I don't know what to tell you man, exarchs and lychguard aren't that strong, exarchs especially. tyranid warriors are objectively stronger. most exarchs get stomped by tyranid warriors. wraiths didn't seem that strong from what I remember, but I don't have the stats on hand.
warbosses often lead sizeable portions of a waaagh, so there's a decent number, and it feels safe to say the lesser ones are terminus-tier if you compare them to other terminus enemies we fight. putting a warboss there is mostly reaching to give the ork roster an ork on foot in the terminus category, same for the autarch in extremis.

Bro, just throw in some Storm Guardians and you've got your ranged and melee minor enemy. A Howling Banshee should be at minimum a majoris enemy. The Exarchs could all be extremis, with something like a Wraithlord being a terminus level enemy.

>>

If a Thousand Sons Rubric Marine is a Majoris level threat despite having generally better stats than your average Eldar Aspect warrior, I'd say it's a fair comparison to make a Howling Banshee a Majoris threat as well. You could make a Dark Reaper the ranged version, or a Dire Avenger a mixed threat who weaves back and forth into melee/ranged attacks. The Extremis version can even be extra gay and either go full melee variant or dual shuriken catapult ranged.

I was mistaken, but not wrong. It's actually always bulwark and assault. I just restarted the mission twice to confirm (I put on a different helmet to prove it). The odds of getting the same team twice is like 30 to 1.
>>
>>498126090
I thought about it a little and I believe it's more reasonable that exarchs would best fit as majoris but they're always accompanied by two or three matching aspect warriors.
aspect warriors as minoris is too harsh but exarchs as extremis is too generous, having one or the other would be a bit strange. having them both show up together at the same time as majoris seems like a decent solution.

Here's your problem. Tabletop stats make for shit comparisons and in-game about nothing actually fits Tabletop balance.

Ishygddt.
>>498126090
Aspect Warriors all should be Majoris. It's Skub but Exarchs should honestly just be better looking and slightly better versions but still Majoris. Think Adrenal Gland Gaunts. You can give them abilities they don't have on tabletop but have in lore easily, other games have done it before.
Warlocks and other assorted psyker guys for all possible factions should be significantly higher than their statlines would indicate. Psykers are serious business in lore, they are just really limited in what they can do on tabletop.
Personally I'd be looking at Warp Spiders, Howling Banshees, Dire Avengers and Dark Reapers, maybe Striking Scorpions as surprise perfect parry 3 times in a row or eat stagger. Swooping Hawks could also be fun, Gargoyles didn't get in but you could have Swooping Hawks (and Vespids for Tau) as hovering ranged enemies akin to Zoanthrope but shitty.
Dire Avengers also absolutely need to have Sashimonos.
>>498126541
I've played with AI Sniper and Heavy. There might be madness to them repeating if you play multiple missions (or crazier yet, player-dependent) but I don't remember ever playing with AI assault.

well I can also look at games like dawn of war but a lot of eldar units honestly weren't that individually powerful in that game either. warlocks were just squad leaders for guardians, and aspect warriors were mostly mid-tier units roughly equivalent to majoris.
it's not like howling banshees have incredible weapons that are going to make them stomp tyranid warriors either.
basically any time eldar have to be objectively measured in some way there is a massive disconnect between the lore that jerks them off and their actual stats. I don't think this will ever be different unless you get a game where you only play as eldar and nobody else.

I hate when Neurothropes spawn. Last match, I had one spawn and call down a thunderstrike on me just as I started an execution. I lost all my health right away. Dawn of War suffered from notoriously inaccurate, if not flat-out wrong tooltip info (like Farseer's Guide ability) or doesn't even go into specifics (there are six different infantry armour types). Use this website if you want to find out the real damage/ability values

https://warhammer-guide.ru/wiki/Howling_Banshee_Squad.html#Power_Sword

There's also no such thing as "ignoring armour", each unit does roughly what's specified in the dps section versus each particular armour type, with the only variation being accuracy but it all averages out in the end. As for the Eldar in general, they were considered to be a top 3 race in DC/SS. Then again, I haven't played either in over a decade (and didn't play base game/WA in multi) so who knows, maybe the meta has shifted based on the findings of the handful of people who continue to play it and not any of the mods. The "Dawn of Eldar" article you can find on 1d4chan (now 1d6chan) has a lot of things right but not all.
>>
>>498130918
And nothing I've said has used in game descriptions as truthful. What is undeniable is how stupid powerful Eldar were.

Who cares, just throw on a helmet. You are not one of those helmetless freaks, are you?
>>
>>498131059

Again - unless you're an active player I'm going by my memory as someone who played 3k games in DC/SS. Back then almost nobody used Howling Banshees, every other infantry unit was better and they didn't need to use melee (except vs Tau) thanks to Fleet of Foot > Falcons. The only worthwhile melee Eldar infantry were Seer Council thanks to its sturdiness and cd reduction on abilities but it wasn't unheard of for Eldar to completely skip training Farseer.

The upgrade you posted is laughable compared to what other races get, btw (CSM, Tau etc.)
>>
>>498131550
>Back then almost nobody used Howling Banshees, every other infantry unit was better and they didn't need to use melee
Yes anon, that's proving my point. Even a unit stop stupidly buffed compared to other units in the game weren't used because Eldar, a broken faction, had even better choices.

"Just".
Comparing statlines (like you do) Zoanthropes are Warriors with a shitter save. The offensive abilities, wargear, passives and Invul just gets lost in the translation. Admitelly Zoanthropes do spawn in pairs in-game but that leads me to another point - you could just spawn enemies in groups. It would probably warrant looking into executions balance but there's nothing really preventing some unit from being weaker than a Tyranid Warrior still being Majoris if there's more of them in a squad. At the point you're adding a new faction and considering the amount of effort it requires making it so perks tripping on Majoris executions/kills without cooldowns also get cooldowns is really a minor tweak.
Warlock could easily be dangerous not because he's tanky or deals a lot of damage but because he makes all Eldar around him move even faster and makes you move slower like he sort of does on tabletop. And this is before you actually give him any sort of offensive or advanced defensive psyker powers he has (had, 10th was especially rough on some psykers) on tabletop. And then there is lore, roleplaying games and simply inventing bullshit.
As for the picrel, I feel various Grav-Tanks some factions get could also be used as enemies because they can just float sort of like -Thropes and you get to pull a Tau out of his vehicle and throwing them far away. I thought about Riptide but it's probably just slightly too big and ranged-focused. Voids would be natural pick but they also don't exist.

using spawn numbers to determine positions gives significantly more leeway in determining enemy classification, yes. though saber has shown with the ravener that they may also just buff a unit to an unreasonable degree and shove it into a higher tier.
but either way I am not really convinced warlocks shouldn't be majoris. majoris are supposed to be relatively common front line combatants that usually fight with groups of minoris, and I think, in addition to their stats, warlocks fit that perfectly. just make them unusually strong majoris that are somewhat rare and border on extremis.
I think proper tanks are a bit too unwieldy and large to be a regular enemy that just spawns anywhere in the map, but most of them are also not strong enough to be used as bosses. they're best used as special units in specific levels, friendly or enemy.

>>
>>498138860
they are a tat bigger then hormagaunts, so small infantry. if i remember right they are about as squishy but are really deadly in melee. they have broodlords as leading elite, wich is the same in bigger, a bit taller then a space marine.

genestealers are a MEQ on tabletop and a squad of them will easily butcher a squad of marines if they get into melee

Genestealers are an unusual tyranid biomorph. They're about as large as a terminator.
They infest space hulks and use those to spread, infesting curious ships and ultimately aiming to infiltrate a planet and secretly create a genestealer cult that will destabilize society and rise up to aid any invading tyranid hive fleet.
They are relatively quite dangerous, pretty durable and even pose a significant threat to terminators in melee combat.

>>498138860
in the lore, genestealer claws can go through ceramite like a hot knife through butter
they're beasts in close quarters
>Genestealers were harder to kill than ’gaunts. Their bodies were toughened inside and out to withstand combat. Their armour was thicker, their organs more deeply buried. The lower pair of arms carried huge, human-like hands, capable of ripping away a Space Marine’s helmet in one strike. But what made the creatures most dangerous were their upper claws, a trio of conical spikes with monomolecular edges. No other tyranid biomorph was more suited to tearing through ceramite. Even the thick plates of Terminator armour offered little protection against a well-placed blow.

yeah right. if the end goal was to infiltrate planets you'd think they would use a more suitable vector than scary wrecks that phase in and out of hell drifting in outer space for centuries. they vary from the size of a firstborn marine to the size of a small dreadnought

Autarchs still make no sense. At this point I'm sort of more accepting of Warlocks being Majoris, but it's more the issue that the only "Leader" archetype, Lesser Sorcerer, is Extremis. If they were Majoris they'd still need to be relatively rare so there aren't squads of them at all times (which are possible but as Farseer bodyguards, not some random schmoo squad).
XV95 makes no sense as boss. I don't think you could even squeeze a commander in there. It's literally a Lictor equivalent. Coldstar can at least be fast around the battlefield and could have flying first phase.
>>498136508
Ironically I don't like either. I'm just talking about them right now because I didn't have time to criticize the rest of the thing, but throwing units that are rare lore-wise but also Characters/Standalone HQs as normal guys is pretty fucking weird. It's also just retarded to take tabletop as absolute and applying it to other mediums while disregarding lore because that just won't work.
Only thing I have to say is still absurdally wrong about Necrons is that there ain't a Canoptek Tomb Sentinel as Terminus there, considering it's literally in the game as scenery, picrel. Put that there, throw Lord to Boss, remove Overlord.

Even in death the Human form is the height of beauty. Even our bones are more aesthetic than other races. The human visage cannot be overcome no matter what horrors try.

Also the Empire of Man in WHFB is based on the HRE and they had units like the Death's Heads Hussars who wore a skull and bones on their hats and heraldry and are pretty famous, like the winged hussars for the polish. Warhammer was made by educated, upper middle class history nerds who thought they looked cool and flanderised their setting with that flavour. Imperium of Man is an extension of this. aesthetically at least. In every other way the IoM is the ERE in decline. Don't let modern audience faggots fool you, they probably do not even know when Constantinople fell.

best I can picture for a techmarine would be locking it into a gamemode where it could interact with something

XV95 is about the size of a hive tyrant and possesses survivability approaching that of a hive tyrant, it's faster and it also has tech giving it camouflage in place of the hive tyrant's psychic protection. It's not really far off and presents a good opportunity to have a fight involving a lot of stealth suits.
tabletop stats mostly work fine because I looked at the units already in the game and found their stats are usually pretty comparable if they're similar units.

poundmaxxxing is gaining ground though.
assault can burst better then bulwark, can reposition easily and while it can´t heal it still provides better contested health regain via the 50% meleeshot teamperk (people getting hit via orange cycle and then parrying the following blue cycle is really common)

i´m not arguing that assault is better then bulwark, bulwark is the best melee class easily. but assault is far from bad.

night lords had a time were they were actually functional, with marines like jago sevatarion entering. those types of nightlords would argue that their terror warfare overall spared lives, and its actually quite hard to disprove that.
they killed a bunch of children and displayed their corpses, planet surrenders with its infrastructure intact. if you throw the iron warriors or even some less harsh legion at a planet it takes longer, costs more life on both sides and the infrastructure of the planet suffers and needs to be rebuilt.
but then they got influx from streetscum and the (highly questionable) ideal of their terror tactics got lost and just terror remained.
i also found it a nice touch that the night lords got absolutely bodied by the dark angels. even the word bearers, the eternal shitters, put up more of a fight vs the smurfs.

i dont really remember how disfunctional the death guard were & afaik the ravenguard only mutated so heavily because alpharius pissed in their cereal bowl.
the world eaters were arguably easier to work with then iron warriors, they just got really bad once angron "assumed command"
but yeah, fuck the space wolves. everytime i read any lore were they are mentioned i wonder how and why they exist.

The new models honestly seem like overcorrection to me, since I thought Kroot were slightly shorter/about same height than Firstborn.
That being said Warhammer scale is even more fucked these days because they're also making "some" new Firstborn models, especially Horus Heresy ones literally about as tall as Primaris.
Which begs the question why the fuck did we have to go through the Primaris debacle in first place if they're releasing truescale Firstborn anyway, but I guess I'm just too simple-minded and hate money, unlike Games Workshop.

Also, if fire warriors are "a little shorter than the average human"(does that make them 5 foot 5-7 inches?) and a quarter shorter than an XV25 I'm pretty sure that does mean an XV25 is about 7 feet tall, so about as tall as a space marine or kroot.

>>
>>498158918
Considering the risk factor in the videogame industry GW is smart about how they go about it. Huge licenses and titles are failing left and right nowadays. They'd have to put a ton money upfront for development, negotiate a contract with corporate lawyers, and even if the game is good it might completely bomb.

On the other hand they can pay a pittance to a small studio, completely run havok on the contract, and if it fails they lose almost nothing. But if it gets huge like SM2 they make a ton of money off it for almost no risk.

Its based on the minigun rotating barrel that requires a power source and motor to spin the barrels so it can shoot its rate of fire without melting.

I assume the power supply is to have the ammunition move with mechanical components since their is no gas piston system, and a spring would not work. That is actually a good part of the design. The second cabling could be active coolant. The drum mag on what is otherwise a mounted weapon/backpack supplied HMG is the only real faux pas.

There was a design from the late 50's used in Nam and onwards in very rare instances where a backpack full of ammo and a belt fed machine gun was used in combat. The idea being getting a big bastard of a man with 500+ rounds with no need to reload or be assisted since normally they are at least 2 man teams could overwhelm the enemy in mobile, overwhelming firepower.

It did not pan out but Devastators and heavy bolters are just GW flanderisation much like the boltgun and bolt round is based on a weapon system that never went into full production - it solved a problem that did not exist, and had a mountain of issues no one wanted to fix.

Bolters (at least were) supposed to be two stage, with a kicker charge (that's what the casing that ejects is for) and then the projectile with it's own motor. Pretty much how they were portrayed for loooooong time.
There were some exceptions, like at some point smaller Bolt pistols were supposed to be caseless (still with a kicker charge, just without casings).

>>498159430
>I assume the power supply is to have the ammunition move with mechanical components since their is no gas piston system, and a spring would not work.
What? Why not? Bolters have muzzle flashes, even if you dismiss kicker charges that means there's enough gas for there to be a muzzle flash, if it isn't powerful just use a lighter spring and delayed locking mechanism.
>boltgun and bolt round is based on a weapon system that never went into full production
Associating Bolters with Gyrojets came after the fact. I'm pretty sure GW had no clue what Gyrojet was, they were noguns Brits and Gyrojets were obscure as fuck even (or maybe especially, as internet wasn't a thing) back in the day.
Nevermind that Bolters aren't 1:1 with Gyrojets.
Also >Heavy Bolters absolutely need external power to fire
Tell that to Titus in campaign or this fella. Or any of the tons of other people who fire them no problem. Oldmarines used to do that too, the cable was described as optional back then. You can say it's because they're not Primaris Heavy Bolter, to which I respond - fucking Cawl's fidget spinners ruin everything again.

You would think they would go all in on the particle effects with the evil wizard faction but you never ever see them do actually anything neat or interesting that makes Tzeentch the embodiment of Change.
>>
>>498162294
rubric marines are kind of a joke as the chief representatives of tzeentchian marines, no mutations, no will of their own, no magic...

then you remember the sorcerers, who have mutations, wills and puppet the rubrics around and it makes slightly more sense, they have particle effects on their wizardry too!

1st Company Veteran, 2nd Squad. Although Antratis has a long list of successful campaigns and operations, he has never received any honors beyond his Veteran status. His Brothers attribute this to the fact that Antratis fights in a disciplined, constrained manner. Some know this is because Antratis is acutely aware of his Chapter's defect, and thus exerts extra effort to stifle the Red Thirst.

Death Company. Bellaphor from his earliest days was a carefree, easy going Brother when outside of combat. He had a mind to protect his Battle Brothers, and whenever fighting started he was often found shoulder to shoulder protecting his allies first and foremost. However, like others before him, Bellaphor suddenly succumbed to the Black Rage during the midst of an otherwise controlled battle. Every since, Bellaphor has been re-assigned to the Death Company. And yet, some witnesses say that even in the midst of the Black Rage, Bellaphor will still direct his fury to those enemies assailing his allies.

3rd Company, 12th Squad. Every Space Marine Chapter is made up of honorable Brothers who receive many accolades and rise within the ranks of their organization, learning leadership and upholding the qualities of their Chapter. Palmerin is not one of those Marines. He does have numerous accolades and honors for being particularly effective during combat. But he has never risen beyond the rank of Battle-Brother, on account of the fact that he's mad autistic and really just loves murdering aliens. In fact, he was at one point given the position of Ancient, but completely failed in his duties because he kept accidentally leaving the standard behind to run ahead and murder even more aliens. Many thought Palmerin had succumbed to the Thirst, or the Rage, but he actually just really loves killing.

>>
>>498182000
autism, got it. fitting for a heavy.
>>
I have leveled the stalker bolt rifle to relic (on a tactical), here are my findings
>Horde clear is an absolute pain. Sure it can penetrate a bit, but you need to land headshots to actually kill anything. Plus you really don't have the ammo to be doing this, even with the upgrades. You pretty much don't ever want to fire on minoris unless its like a ranged guy really far away and you really need the scope/accuracy. Otherwise you are limited to melee and pistol for them.
>The reload speed isn't super long, but it is pretty cumbersome and generally is a slight negative afaic
>Majoris are sort of a mixed bag. If you can get one in your sights at medium range you can absolute delete him. The fire rate at close ranges can make it hard (hip fire with it is a joke). Chaos is probably easier as their movements are more predicatble while the nids hop all around and make you miss constantly, plus I just find their heads harder to hit but that could easily just be me.
>Extremes and Terms are a piece of cake...with an auspex and them facing you. You can absolutely annihilate pretty much anything in a single mag (HT takes 2) as long as you can get those headshots. But if you are firing into the Hellbrute or Carnifex's back while it chases your teammate, your damage is pretty weak. Like, I think my pistol is comparable (though I haven't tested).
>The Heavy Plasma Incen is imho generally a better gun. You basically get AoE (which often makes near-misses still useful even on single targets), greatly reduced ammo concerns, highly effective horde clear, majoris/extremis stun, versatility of making body shots, and no reloading (I find the heat mechanic superior but ymmv).
>In exchange, you give up a bit of damage (I'll ballpark it at like 10-15%) in peak optimal scenarios and faster shot travel time. Its a more difficult comparison to the GL or Melta.

Thanks for reading my blog.

I want an Imperial Guard co-op game where the campaign ends with your regiment successfully pulling off a decapitation strike against the enemy commander only for the Flesh Tearers to crash through the enemy lines and mow through you as well, with the last mission being reminiscent of Halo Reach where you have one objective: survive.
In the end your entire regiment is wiped out and the game ends on a happy note as the Imperium declares the planet free of xenos filth thanks to the timely intervention of the Flesh Tearers who pulled off a daring gambit and slew the enemy commander with minimal casualties.

>Apothecary
Helix Adepts are partially trained Apothecaries that are attached to Vanguard squads because normal Apothecaries are presumably too fat to keep up.
It also sort of fits with Vanguard already (very shitty) squad healing and pretty decent personal healing. Instead of the grapple he could have some meme healing ability with similar targeting, but instead of locking on enemies
it locks on friends.
>Librarian
Librarian into Sniper is weird but I didn't really have any idea where to put him. There's also that one voice-line where (I think) Vespasius worries that Scipius (Sniper) is vulnerable because he "looks too closely into his enemies", and Scipius retorts that he only sees their faces, not their minds. There's also a Tabletop mini of a Phobos-armor Librarian that wears a cloak and notably doesn't wear a Psychic Hood, just like a lower-rank Librarian would.
>Chaplain
Speaking of said voice-lines Vespasius (Assault) would be the obvious Chaplain-to-be choice, as he mentions he loves Emperor very, very much and spends a lot of time reading religious scripture under eye of presumably Leandros.
I picked Bulwark because he's the closest gameplay-wise to a Judiciar, except Judiciar has a two-handed weapon and a Tempormortis hourglass that slows down time (which effectively would just be Bulwark banner but slows down enemies in a large area instead of regenerating armor).
THAT BEING SAID, Assault could be a Judiciar since he already uses a two-handed weapon, but instead of a Jump-pack he can use the same aiming system to quickly "teleport" to a place, stun and slow-down enemies around him, presumably by using his hourglass. I'm actually convinced myself now, Suppressors were a shit pick anyway. I'm changing it.
>Tech-marine
Straban (Heavy) would be the most obvious Tech-marine pick ever, because he has autism and loves maintaining his gun, but there are no Tech-marines in training that are attached to Chapters, as they all undergo training on Mars.
>>
>>498196792
That phobos librarian looks sick.
Hiding all the exposed bits really gives the armor a nicer feel.
>>
>>498196792
>>498197091
Agreed. The Phobos librarian is the best looking Phobos armor unit in the game.
>>
>>498194238
>The rest
IDK. I have no idea. This is the biggest hole in my theory, because there aren't any good HQ/advancements options for other classes that also would fit with their abilities. Bulwark could just be an Ancient... but he's pretty much already one.
That being said voice lines do mention that Valius (Tactical) is both gunning for a command position and expected by his squad mates to reach one, but a simple Sergeant really would feel like shit since you're pretty much railroaded to make all your characters Veteran Sergeants or even Captains if you want the highest levels of bling.
Bulwark I honestly have no idea. I played him a lot early on and maybe forgot but he strikes me as the one character with least characterization, serving mainly as support role in characterization of others.
Heavy is autist and Tech-marine is most fitting, but as established, he cannot really be a half-Techmarine, it's either full or bust and "weaker" variants like vehicle crew also make no sense.
Tactical Prestige Class, ???Commander???
Assault Prestige Class, Judiciar (Chaplain)
Vanguard Prestige Class, Helix Adept (Apothecary)
Bulwark Prestige Class, ??Ancient??
Sniper Prestige Class, Codicier (Librarian)
Heavy Prestige Class, ???Aggressor???/???Suppressor???

This is the first time someone made me think classes like Chaplain or Librarian are possible. It would make it so much easier if they were variations on existing classes, since they could reuse a lot of customization, bunch of ability code, probably even most perks with just a line of additional ones, and most importantly voice actors. Pre-existing voice lines also seem to hint at this possibility.
It would suck to be locked out of Librarian because some console fag is playing Sniper but it's also stupid enough that I can believe it.
>>
>>498197874
Oh yeah my bad. I never seen him in plastic and it is a small detail I expected would be hidde under the actual hood, but makes sense.
I mostly based the no-hood thing on the Lexicanium Librarians not getting one yet because they're too shit at being a Psyker but I think they also don't do combat with Codifiers being the first ones and they do get them.
It's all really old lore at this point, one I'm not sure is really reinforced in modern canon.

Bulwark as champion as someone said. Two handed power sword user. Even heavier focus on parrying. Alternatively, bladeguard ancient
Tactical could be just veteran. More skills perks and maybe an ability to temporarily go centurion or something
Assault I got nothin beyond giving them the ranged options inceptors have
Heavy can just become Aggressor
Sniper into librarian actually works if it's vanguard librarian like the mini you posted. Abilities focused on stealth for the entire team.
Vanguard's the hardest to come up with something for me.

Old, old canon that is nowadays of questionable meaning to people that control it right now said Big E was born out of bunch of early Human Psykers deciding the best way to protect themselves from exploding and getting sucked out by Warp mosquitoes is to make one really strong one.
Either way he was supposed to be born in ancient Anatolia, around the sites of oldest human settlements. I always thought it's sort of implied he was at least partially responsible for some of that stuff, especially since Bronze Age Hittite Empire of Anatolia were first recorded use cases of a double-headed eagle symbol, which I thought was a cool (probably unintentional) connection to Imperial Aquilla.

>Bulwark can be Champion.
Yes, but sort of no. He already is essentially a Bladeguard Veteran (crossed with Ancient) and a Champion isn't really big enough of a gameplay change to warrant him doing something else.
Like, sure, he loses the shield, but is his ability just the banner all over again? Is it just Titus/Gadriel ability from Campaign? I'm not especially convinced, though I guess it would make some sense to have the same ability Titus has as a sort of mobile Banner but only for himself.
>Tactical could be just veteran. More skills perks and maybe an ability to temporarily go centurion or something
Almost all my guys are Veterans, it just doesn't really hit that hard. It's clear to me he has to be a commander guy but pretty much all ranks are accounted for in simple customization. They could dig out Force Commander from Dawn of War but I'm pretty sure it was Relic's invention and thus as far from canon as we have strayed so far.
As for his ability I'd feel nice if it tied to his normal one in similar way (Judiciar/Assault "temporal jump", Vanguard/Helix Adept "healing grapple", Sniper/Librarians... fucking "Warp-step" idk).
>Heavy can just become Aggressor
It would be quite sad if everyone else got those cool HQ Character abilities and Straban got a sidegrade.

So this old game, Fire Warrior, right? It was the first Warhammer FPS (Space Hulk doesn't really count) back when GW wanted to sell people the newly-created Tau.
Long story short it contains a singular Fire Warrior, Shas'la T'au Kais, killing his way Call of Duty style through Imperial Guard, Space Marines, Chaos Space Marines, killing (multiple!) Daemon Princes, blowing up a Warlord Titan (I wish I was making this up) and eventually beating up a Lord of Change.
Now the game doesn't really say this outright (if you ignore the fact a Tau manlet just out-skilled half the named characters in lore) apart from some minor visual stuff, using Chaos weapons and sometimes unintelligible spooky voices in your head, but the game had a novelization (one of better early sources into Tau culture) where it's pretty clear that despite Kais himself being unaware of this, he's clearly helped along by Khorne and he does, in fact, shout out Khorne's catchphrase. It suddenly makes the game's cover art (picrel >>498201841) make much more sense as to why a Fire Warrior is sitting on a pile of skulls.
However he's been mostly memoryholed.
>>498203245
Shut up, you don't know what you're talking about.
>>
>>498204309
Mind ray you basically have to spam roll it because the hitbox is retarded and oversized. Green balls you have to eyeball it. A lot of times it's better to dodge into them instead of sideways, in my experience. Or just hide behind a wall or something.
I use the tap hold tap tap combo but the weapon just sucks, really.
Balanced weapons overall have better stats in damage and speed than Fencing. Once you're used to the timing, it's best to use Balanced.
>>
>>498205446
Fire warrior was great mostly for the fact you could use just a straight up m16
>>
>>498204309
>When do you dodge the zoanthrope mind ray and green ball attacks. The timing doesn't seem to correspond to anything visual.
Yes, the hurtbox is pretty fucked up. Also the green balls are guided so if you dodge too early, they will home in on you anyway. In general, you want to take cover instead of dodging them. Have in mind though that these attacks can phase through some of the walls. There's a limited number of places where extremis enemies can spawn so you eventually just learn these places by heart. Just keep on practicing and you will eventually learn the timings and the safe spots.

As I said, I don't think the same Kais was ever mentioned again. There were bunch of other Tau guys named Kais but none of them can conclusively be said to actually be him.
The game/novel is also absurdally based in some parts. Your Marine enemies are at first Raptors, and it was stated getting folded by a single Fire Warrior was the wake-up call that made Raptors turn from a generic Chapter into "Reasonable Marines" they are now.
Later on Ultramarines show up, bitch about Raptors being incompetent and not being Codex adherent enough, they pat themselves on the back and claim that they will show everyone how real Codex-Adherent Sons of the best Primarch Guilliman do it and gain all the glory for Ultramarines and proceed to get folded by Kais all the same until they start actually working with him once they figure out Imperial troops on the planet are heretics
It's actually hysterical because IIRC it predates Matt's Ward rule of terror by like five years and yet most of the Ultramarines are portrayed EXACTLY as people portray them in memes (IT IS I, CATO SICARIUS, and so on).
As a side note, there's a high chance you saw Fire Warrior cinematics without realizing it.

There are a number of potential EC successors as they had a relatively high number of loyalists
The Hawk Lords are mere speculation based on the fact that the Emperor's Children were known to often use the same tactics and formations that the Hawk Lords employ, plus their armor color is "phoenician purple." We also know that they were around during the War of the Beast, so they've been around since at least M32.
Red Scorpions are also potential EC loyalists, along with the Death Eagles you mentioned and Sons of the Phoenix.

Not all of them, Death Eagles and Carcharodons are listed as Raven Guard while being EC and at least partially Night Lords, respectively.
The reason the Ultramarines have so many possible traitor sourced successors is because 1.) Gorillaman was the one organizing the flaming wreckage of the Imperium after the Heresy and was situated in a perfect position to neatly fold all those troublesome elements into his own legion that was already known for being exponentially larger than the other loyalist legions, and 2.) his little pocket empire, Imperium Secundus, ended up being safe haven for tons of traitor legion loyalists stuck on the wrong side of the galaxy.
>>
havent played in a while did they fix it so when you matchmake with randos for ops you wont get put into a party that has the same class as you?
>>
>>498216131
Carcharodons are Raven Guard. They are RG as they were before Corax took over them. RG were monstrous - maybe not as bad as the Blood Angels were with their rampant, ritual cannibalism - but they gave the Night Lords a run for their money. The only difference is they did what they did without showcasing it or using it as a tactic. They were just taking trophies and carving people up mid combat instead.

RG legion culture was bad enough that Corax had to decimate his legion of most of the original terran born troops who unlike a lot of the traitor legions - were actually the worst ones and least loyal.

I just started using the balanced knife like you said, and you're fucking right...
You can still parry like crazy and it opens the fuck out of the rest of the moveset. I can't go back.
I never realized the knife has infinite combos with light or heavies before. It feels like a mini power sword now.
Thanks, anon. Holy shit.
>>
>>498231643
I use powersword, plasma pistol, and heavy bolt rifle on vanguard, it's fun I usually only do it in private lobbies though.
>>
>>498241596
It’s really good, just has the issue of accidental blocks leading to you getting demolished but man it feels so much better. I think it’s bullshit that the fencing knife is the only slow version of a melee weapon, all the other fencing weapons are fast or on par with the others speed wise.
>>
>>498237157
Titus only lost because the narrative needed him to, if it wasn't a scripted loss he would've worn that Carni's head as a trophy when Scot McScotsland found him.
>>
I hope the season 2 patch opens up the weapon selection for classes a bit more, everyone should have at least two options in each slot minus heavy having no melee weapons.
>>
>>498241962
There is one specific outlier in there, the purple fencing thunder hammer has the slowest melee speed of any weapon in the game. The relic one is fine so it isn't a big issue, it's just weird.
>>
>>498242181
Yeah that was an odd one but at least it’s not cucked when maxed out like the knife
>>
>>498240827
it's always tuesday somewhere in the world

The update had better make all the bolt weapons 200% more effective than they are now. The most iconic weapon in the setting should not feel this weak.
>>
>>498244346
Bolt weapons now deal an extra 0.02 damage if you shoot the enemy in the head.
>>
Plasma (not including Heavy) does nothing for me. The perks also feel pretty useless.

It's all about the charged shots. They stun nids out of blocks, stun chaos marines out of shooting, and stun any majoris out of calling for backup.

ba8it
>>
>>498246678
I wish the normal shots for it was actually stronger. A relic plasma gun with normal shots should kill a gaunt one Roofless with one hit no matter where you hit desu

Oh yeah, now we're cooking with gas.
>>
>you can get kicked out of a match you started alone in and went halfway through by yourself because 2 retarded monkey friends joined in and got mad at being called idiots

ok I guess I'll play private operations only from now on
>>
>>498249381
>insult teammates
>they don't want to play with you
Consider me shocked, don't take a casual horde third person shooter so seriously, friend.
Although it is bullshit that the "host" can be kicked from his own session lol
>>
>>498249501
maybe they shouldn't be horrible at the game or abandon the geneseed carrier alone in the middle of a giant horde then?

I miss when you could call people out for the niggers they are in games
>>
>>498249501
If they are niggers that try to speedrun the level instead of playing the game then they deserve to be called retarded
>pays 60$ to play jogging sim
>>
>bulwark
>level 18
>PC
>ruthless
>going down constantly
>no heal perk
Do these people not have parry bound or something?
This happens so frequently.
>>
>>498249381
Does that kick the other two back to the battle barge? That'd be hilarious.
>>
>>498249858
Who cares, just forget about it and move on
>>
>>498250070
I can't forget about it when I have one of these types every other match.
I can't help but notice it.
>>
>>498249582
I don't know what to say man, sometimes shitters are gonna shit, the price of having a popular game is that shitters will be attracted to the smell of FOTM, give it a few more months and only those who know what they're doing will be left, atleast until horde mode where it'll go back to 50/50 chance of retards or competent brothers.
>>498249768
I don't do that and I hate faggots that do but the motivator probably comes from grinding levels to get good gear so you can do the higher difficulties with the better(read: more fun) gear.
Not that i'd know, I got bored of the missions by the third difficulty, i'm a PvPsissy now.
>>498249858
I find that Bulwarks are the most binary players, they either carry and effectively facetank entire hordes or get minced by a single minoris, no in-between like there is with Tacticals or Heavy, but the game is quite easy compared to other games of its kind and you get exp on losses so who cares, try to carry and be proud if you do.
>>
>>498223785
Fuck. I didn't know that either.
>>
>>498249381
I always insult them just after the end of the match before the loading screen.

They can't kick me anymore after that.

class restrictions are mega gay. only 1 class per operation is super gay. only 2 of the same class in pvp is utterly gay.
i should be able to have a bulwark shield and use a bolter. i should be able to have a thunder hammer and a bolter. i should be able to have a heavy bolter and a knife. i should be able to have TWO KNIFES. the only restriction should be class perks and abilities.
>>
>>498220745
Just by being somewhat competent, I guess. Fatshark really should be an expert at making these kinds of games and they arguably are but goddamn are they also really fucking stupid.
>>
>>498249768
exactly

>stuck in the middle of a giant horde of majoris and minoris because I'm the only one that actually went to defend the last generator on inferno
>struggling since flag isn't up and this is inferno difficulty so I have to slowly whittle down enemies with parries and sometimes a melee hit
>both retards went straight to the checkpoint without ever even firing a single shot towards my position even though I'm carrying the geneseed
>both kept spamming ping the whole time
>call them idiots for not helping me after I finally get to safety
>kicked out of match a few seconds later

truly peak gamers

>>498250069
I fucking hope so

>>

>>

>>
>have geneseed
>under prepared to defend
>rush into horde anyway
>get kicked
>>
>>498250678
mad cuz true
>>
>>498250790
should've just let the generator explode while pinging the closed checkpoint door then :)
>>
>>498250336
desu if most of the players want to move on and youre being selfish and wasting their time then im not surprised they kicked you
>>
>>498250940
>literally the only person that went to do the objective while 2 mongoloids waited and twiddled their thumbs
>literally solo in the middle of a billion enemies and surviving by myself while 2 retards do nothing
>actually finish the objective and then manage to get to the checkpoint eventually with zero help
>selfish

sometimes I forget this website is full of mongoloid retards with room temp IQ
>>
>>498251137
you got kicked because you deserved it
move on
>>
>>498250336
yeah, its like these people dont get that you have to be on the same page for rushing to work

>be me(tact), doing a vox for my last bit of xp that night
>heavy joined mid load
>champion skin, heavy bolter
>runs ahead, gets minced by 8 majoris exiting the 1st room
>kill the mobs myself
>3rd joined, revived him
>forward to 1st altar
>camps in the aproach
>me and 3rd do objective, get overwhelmed by massive wave
>heavy runs all the way back to 1st sorc encounter
>only survived because only 2 enimies followed and i left a stim there
>rushes through the FFA without firing a single shot
>triggers boss, helbrute
me and 3rd(assault) duo the boss, duo a wave
>get almost wiped at the elevator because, ofc, they heavy didnt clear it in his spare time
>assault ragequits, sniper joins
>demonhost went suprisingly smooth
>because me and sniper dealt with all the mobs while heavy did the altars unimpeded

there are places where running past a couple mobs is totaly fine, vox's FFA is a prime example, you can skip like 10 majoris by going past them on the balcony to the left
however you gotta be aware this shit goes tits up if not everybody participates.
i bet this fucker thought he was the toughest shit for doing as a speedrun video explained it to him, forgetting he's supposed to do that with bots or other, willing, participants
>>
>>498251232
sure thing buddy, nothing wrong with a game that lets 2 idiots join and kick the host, and they're definitely not even bigger idiots for kicking the one carrying the geneseed because they feefees got hurt.
>>
>>498251293
yeah thats the retarded zoomer kids thinking they're hot shit for speedrunning stages just like how they saw it done in a random youtube video not realizing that it takes perfect conditions to do and will make the match go to shit instantly if not.
I don't even care if you wanna speedrun but whats the point if you fail the mission because of it? even more so when you join halfway through and the "host" already has the geneseed and then you somehow not only decide to kick him but the game allows it to happen too.
>>
>>498249858

Last time I was playing my 25 Bulwark I was using the white power sword, it was a painful experience
>>
>>498251293
I did the heldrake op on substantial for some class grinding and my teammates decided to rush through everything.
There were thousand sons all along the path you need to run through to avoid the fire but the worst for me was the elevator just before that.
Wave spawned on top of me when I went back in the burial chambers to stock up on ammo and I had to either fight or try to run to the elevator but likely end up losing most of my health or getting a mortal wound.
These 2 niggers waited at the elevator for 5 minutes as I cleared the wave by myself. Fuck all niggers who run ahead. Total zoomer death.
>>
>>498249381
Chinks seethe hard and will vote to kick if you insult them once
>>
Why does the purple chainsword mog the relic so hard
>>
>>498253192
the fencing one? how so
>>
>>498253192

Relic fencing is bugged and acts as Balanced for the purpose of parrying

Yeah, wasn't worth it.
They kept sticking to minoris and exploding next to the majoris I was aiming for for no damage.
There was that time I got three+ majoris with one krak though...
>>
>>498254559
yeah they are overrated and only really handy if a terminator/terminus shows up. id rather dump frags on groups of majoris to soften them up for executes if anyone needs them desu
>>
>>498254912
you forgot zoanthropes
>>
>>498255660
i guess thats true but honestly theres only like one particular spawn location where i consider them a particularly annoying threat and thats in the tubes before the hive tyrant
>>
Shock Grenade or I'm not interested
>>
Wish the Thunder Hammer's more explosive executes on Minoris dealt damage around you like the visuals imply.
>>
>>498256924

>>
>>498257592
>>498257592
>>498257592
>>
>>498249381
Doesn't that end the whole mission?
>>
>>498256924
i could swear it does, but super negligable, like you wont notice it on roofies, but on average it might put a majoris into execute range
>>
>>498257701
I sure hope it did and the fuckers didnt get a free mission at my expense
