good, you'll start learning about deadlocks and configuring splitter input output priorities and filter then.
>>
>>499274781
I tried using blueprints cause everyone was so hype about em.. I don't like using that shit. Not only would I have to make everything twice for each direction of the splitter, I'd have to make a blueprint for every single fucking thing I make cause they are all configured differently.
That shit is for autists.
>>
>>499274938
>for each direction of the splitter
If you use smart splitters, the difference is 4 clicks.
>>
>>499275193
The smart splitter doesn't magically turn 180. I'd rather just slap that thing down by hand. 4, click, 5, click, constructor, click.. done. And the belting between them really isn't that much work.

Make 1 blueprint that does it most, blueprints are shit and you'll be doing tons of manual work anyway. For example there is no way to do a coloring scheme without making 50000 blueprints, and middle click doesn't copy paint because the devs don't actually play the game.
>>
>>499275510

>>
>>499275510
Yeah, I did.. the basic splitter, constructor, merger.. I got to use it once. It never worked again in any other place. That's because everything is built completely different.
And it doesn't even save time. Popping down 3 things and connection them takes 0 time.

>>
>>499277121
As I said, one blueprint only works for 1 place. As soon as I went fixing up the iron plates that shit didn't work anymore cause splitter and merger were the wrong direction. I can use a constructor blueprint for maybe 2 things. fuck that.. I'd have to blueprint every single production.

deadlocks are what happens when your resources have nowhere to go since something is blocking their way or their processing stations are full and won't take any of the ores to be smelted. with mixed resources like that especially in the early game, when you start smelting stuff in a furnace array copper will tend to cause deadlocks for the more in-demand iron at that stage.

priorities will help out on fixing deadlocks, input priority prioritizes which belt you want to prioritize. if left belt is prioritized, then it takes that belt and spit out its contents between 2 belts, output priority simply prioritize which belt while the splitter will prioritize to output. you can set the filter of a splitter to only spit out something that comes out to a certain belt while the rest goes to the other

>>
>>499287287
So don't.
Just stack them on top of each other via several blueprints.
It takes a tiny bit longer, but is more raw resource efficient, meaning you can use more of them for more max throughput.
>>
>>499287423
You don't need to be resource efficient with iron since there's so many iron nodes everywhere, more than you'll ever need.
>>
>>499287874
But not locally. If you wanna train it in, sure.
>>
>>499288584

grasslands is literally the most difficult starting point. Shit starting resources, shit terrain, shit water, bottomless pits everywhere, and all the advanced resources are on the other side of the map.

Rocky desert is probably the best start. It has good flatness, lots of pure nodes, coal ready to cook, and rare resources all over the place. The dune desert is also decent but a bit too much rolling hills of copper and iron, and all the good stuff is on the outskirts

I just realized they added squeak through to some things in Factorio.

>>
>>499297005
Genuinely and completely unironically this does honestly sound like a PID to be frank. You want the thingy to act some output depending on the input, but instead of coding it yourself like a chump you force it to learn. The context eludes me so I don't know what the inputs and outputs could be.
>>
>>499298148
all the inputs and outputs are the same monogenous "excitement" rate, which is just an [-inf, inf] float which is tranmitted between neuron connections.
the initial inputs depend on enviroment and generally just interpolate between multiple basic states a creature has, like maximizing energy income, reproducing or avoiding threats, and you can choose which initial neurons are excited in which state, and the outputs are tied directly to the parts of creatures which make them move.
thing is, i kinda get what neurons do, they can be interpretered as a sort of logic gate with variable strength inputs instead of discrete numbers, but the ELUs completely fucking elude me on every level. it's supposed to be a network inside your network which you can somehow train to do specific things depending on input, but unlike whole creatures it doesn't have a good way to know it's fitness and HOW exactly it's reaching the needed output, and it's kind of crucial to understand if i want to use like 6 stacks of them to make my floaters gracefully outmaneuver predators, so i could have fine motor control.
and it's like the most basic type of ELU too, there are way more complicated variations.

The problem I've had there is sometimes the cluster bombs fly off the spider instead of exploding on it. Seems like the bomb being on the underside of the spider is the most effective approach.

What I actually do the most is wait for them to land after a jump and dump a magazine of homing bullets into them while they stand there for a second before leaping again. The big spiders tend to take 2 magazines, though. 3 if they start running and half your bullets miss.

You fucked up your power management.
Time to add nitro rocket fuel and fuck ton of fuel generators.
600 m3 crude oil, with heavy oil residue and diluted fuel will lead to 144.000 mw of power. If perfect. If not, meh, good enough.
Just the stopping at diluted fuel will add plenty of power.

I'm close enough to the finish line that I could fix this by building 10-12 more plutonium power plants, or by building 4 more large storage containers for the uranium waste that's built up.
But I think I'll actually make an ionized rocket fuel power plant because I've recently fully automated power shard production and these things can't be sunk, so I need to get rid of them some other way to keep the Dark Matter Residue cycle going.

You have to:

you're going a bit too heavy on the chain blocks. you could inadvertently cause a collision because the amount of the intersection a train is blocking off ahead of itself is too small.

take for instance two trains approach this intersection and arrive at the same time. train 1 is heading westbound and is going to continue westbound. train 2 is heading eastbound but is going to turn northbound. train 1 enters the northeast dark blue block, sees that the northwest yellow block ahead of it is unoccupied, and continues at full speed. train 2 enters the western magenta block, sees that the yellow block is unoccupied and continues at full speed. whichever one enters the block first (probably train 2) will then occupy it, signaling the other train to stop to avoid collision. however, given how short the distance is and that both trains were going at full speed, there is a chance the braking train will not slow down in time and will collide with the other train.

uh, no. Factorio reserves the train's braking distance, it gets shown as yellow lights.
Satisfactory doesn't do that, trains simply take blocks and everyone else can eat shit.
>>
>>499331365
That's not how it works, have you never played Factrio before?
A train will never reserve a chain block if it can't also reserve a rail block after it.
Also trains always keep their speed low enough to stop at then end of their last reserved block if they can't reserve more.
The situation you are talking about can never happen in Factorio.

What's your preferred rail spacing? I guess it depends on your rail network style, maybe for rail grids you would want a smaller spacing because there's going to be more rail in the world. It's a troll trying to force a split. Nobody asked for a factorio general and we didn't split when satisfactory hit 1.0 and everyone was talking non-stop about it. Satisfactory hit over 200k concurent players during that period and factorio was at 90k during peak, there isn't even a justification based on number of players. I could understand a split if say, factorio hit 500k somehow but this is not the case.

>>
>>499345784
The baits were made by a single guy who doesn't play factorio considering he got several elements of the basic gameplay wrong.
>>
>from Factorio player(s)
People who shitpost about a game aren't even the players. It's just people (usually 2 or 3 in a circlejerk with each other via Discord) deciding to raid a thread every single day for months on end using the latest shitposts to annoy everyone.
>>
>>499345453
The difference is a few Factorio players went berserk over Satisfactory being the more common discussion topic in the thread for a week or two. Putting Factorio in its own thread today multiplied how much people got to discuss every other /egg/ game other than Factorio, so it seems like a decent move even if it's just temporary while Space Age is new.
I'm not even against Factorio stuff here. There has been several exchanges about it so far. That's cool, imo. But if the other thread didn't exist, this one would've been 99% Factorio and most of the other stuff would've been pushed out.

20 labs chugging away at ~1.4kspm, or just over 2k after productivity, and still staying pretty close to 24ups/24fps on my toaster -- at least when I'm zoomed all the way in to minimize render load.
And provided Automatic Train Fuel Stop doesn't jam everything up yet again, should be done in a little over 24 hours. (I already have a massive stockpile of the bio science packs needed for the final tech, and 51 bio labs to run it in.)

the way I see it SA is already going to be *the* overhaul mod, adding more on top of that is gonna be a lot of work. It's gonna take months and years before we get the same level of modding for 2.0 as we take for granted today: at least it's relatively painless for smaller mods.

Thanks god. What the FUCK is even the intended way to deal with it short of packaging and sinking the byproduct water? Why the fuck can't it be recycled internally when it's the same building that both takes and produces water? Who the fuck even thought it was a good idea when there's nothing even close to resembling a liquid sink or overflow valve in the game whatsoever? I understand they wanted a more complex production chain for aluminum but why turn it into a fucking puzzle that the game doesn't even offer a decent way of solving.
>>
>>499357692
I use height, return water is boosted to higher headlift than fresh water so only return water can fill storage tank above refineries.
It's quite effective, never had it clog up regardless of demand fluctuation.
>>
>>499355687
>>499355918
Raiguard doesn't want to design 200 more items and balance the entire game around space age. It more than doubles the work since he would still have to keep K2 vanilla alive. Same thing for SE. Earendel doesn't really want to make SASE because it's a lot of work. They can still use a lot of the new modding features, some of which are already implemented.
It's simply much, much, much easier to mod for vanilla than SA since you know that the entire target audience of your mod has vanilla and vanilla is a lot more linear than SA.
We'll likely have a bunch of major mods for SA but it will take time obviously. K2, SE, Ultracube and Nullius weren't created overnight. I don't think vanilla mods are going to stop being created either.
>>
Pretty much the only major overhaul I know that has confirmed to be redesigned to work with SA is Py. It will take a very long time to be made but they're working on it.

I came to believe that any "working" setup is more of a result of the game bugging out in positive way than of an intentional design effort. I've had a one that worked fine too without even any buffers or pipe magic, but I wanted to move it from the main base and also try the alt recipes, and here we go.

>return water is boosted to higher headlift than fresh water so only return water can fill storage tank above refineries.
As far as I'm aware the water extractor will just keep pumping water as long as it has somewhere to go, so if it can reach the building at all it should still back up unless there's some more magic to it.
>>
>>499358981
It's counts up like a clock but it's not a memory cell. I must be a genius.
>>
>>499358550
That's a bug. It should teleport you to your landing pad.
>>
>>499359215
You also need a valve so it doesn't oscillate.
The trick is to carefully tune pipe height so it can't fill pipes feeding refineries completely, water extractors will cut off when they try to fill pipe above headlift, just tune it to be only able to partially fill it and have a buffer above for when input taking water stops running but water output is still producing for a while.

>>499357692
I had this exact same issue after dozens of hours of the VIP setup working fine for me, so I just said "fuck it" and used the byproduct water to make wet concrete and eliminated the feedback loop entirely.
I've seen some people say that the "intended" way to deal with byproduct water is to use it to supply recipes that consume water elsewhere.
I've heard people say you can chain refineries, like set up 6 Alumina Solution refineries, then 3 Aluminum Scrap refineries, and the water produced by those 3 Scrap refineries will be enough to run 2 more Alumina Solution refineries, but when you convert that to Scrap you'll get 120 water as a byproduct again. Which is 1/3rd of what you had to start with, so maybe it's still worthwhile.

In the past, I had 100+ hours of success by putting a buffer tank on both the input and output sides of the water cycle, then putting valves on the lines coming from the water pumps, and after enough byproduct water was in the system to keep everything going, I just closed the valve off. Alternatively, I've put a valve on the inputs and just done basic math to deduct the recycled water from the total water needs of the input step and used valves to make sure only that much water came in from the pumps. I haven't tested these in 1.0, though.
>>

I'm used to things with more... explicit or visible input/output directions on everything, I guess? or being forced to select one or two signals to logic-gate at a time
experience is with redstone and modded logic gates (only one signal type, or if using bundled cable, you split off the specific signal color to use)
and LUA computers (download a program, or maybe make an if-else loop)

that's a refinery, which is represented in-game by a single building, where you can see all the bajillion pipes running this way and that way on its model.

what your picture conveniently doesn't show is the resulting petrol products flowing via either underground or elevated pipe to further processing plants, and then to storage tanks.

do you see a single pipe just laying on the ground or barely elevated above it? no, every single pipe there is at least above head height.

What's a general ratio of Pumpjack to Refinery(s) to Storage Tank(s)?
I never really got a grasp of oil products in Factorio.
Also, do you think it's better to produce all of my oil derivitaives at the pump field or should I just send the petroleum back to home via train for processing?
>>
>>499359557
>The trick is to carefully tune pipe height so it can't fill pipes feeding refineries completely, water extractors will cut off when they try to fill pipe above headlift, just tune it to be only able to partially fill it and have a buffer above for when input taking water stops running but water output is still producing for a while
I actually ended up with a similar setup at one point, except the pipes were full but the buffer was only half filled when it clogged. I don't really see how half-filling the pipes would make any difference, but oh well maybe it does.

>>499362340
>I've seen some people say that the "intended" way to deal with byproduct water is to use it to supply recipes that consume water elsewhere.
Sounds like a recipe for more things to get stuck at once. Also a big fuck you when you just want a standalone facility specialized on a single thing.

>and used valves to make sure only that much water came in from the pumps
I did this by downclocking the extractor and it still didn't work. Maybe the factory didn't actually run at 100% for some reason and there was still an excess of water but I couldn't find any reason it would.

Logically thinking, if one pump is above the other when pumping into the same junction, it should have a higher head lift and take priority since head lift should try to even out. But given that the water tower hack exists, and also that it's actually the opposite of how some tutorials illustrate the VIP junction schematics where the lower pump is prioritized I'm not sure how much real world physics you should apply here if at all. On the other hand, that's how the setup that worked for me was configured. I'll need to do some experiments when I get back home.

max quality levels unlock with progression so you can't even do it properly until almost endgame
>>
>>499367365
i won't bother too much with automating quality until i get a recycler.
Put a couple quality modules into some end product you regularly mass produce like solar panels. Then save the uncommon+ ones that fall out for your space platforms.
Or slap a couple on intermediates and box the uncommons and above to manually make a desired item of higher quality.
>>
>>499367929
>Or slap a couple on intermediates and box the uncommons and above to manually make a desired item of higher quality.
this is the way before endgame
mass production feeds labs and general industry. For key quality items you want to filter as early as possible as soon as you use quality modules and quasi-handcraft what you need from those

in essence if thing is below X rarity you just send it to the shadow realm with filter splitters

since input quality decides output quality you could run your entire base on higher quality by just feeding it high quality base materials, but the higher you go in rarities to more stupid the gacha gets

>>
>>499371936
If you futz about you might be able to do something clever but I don't think it's worth worrying about quality until you get the recycler. Before that you just have to use splitters on all your lines to pull out anything above normal quality and either make a slow factory with just that stuff or box it up and feed stuff manually. Once you get the recyclers then you can make some loops to spit out quality stuff more reliably but before that? Just gotta put splitters on the output lines of anything with quality modules and send off anything quality to somewhere else in your factory that's built specifically for handling quality builds if you want to engage with quality before your fulgora trip.

Well now I remember why I got filtered out once I hit purple packs, I'm almost gnashing my teeth over here just thinking about how to figure out how to get all of the different bullshit I need from these oil refineries for blue packs.
What is the method? Do I just pump/deliver raw gas from the field back to my base for production or should I be running trains in with materials for battery production and all that shit? Should I even bother with barreling liquids? I don't think I ever bothered when I last played.
The biggest headache is just trying to think of the rat's nest of pipe routing it's going to take to figure this shit out between the water, refineries, running sulfur out of the chem plants and then back into another chem plant for sacid and I can't even flip the fucking input tubes on these things which just makes the pipe routing even shittier.
>>
>>499373769
>can't even flip the fucking input tubes on these things which just makes the pipe routing even shittier.
This is a genuine complaint and I'm tired of pretending the current system is good.
Anyways just run crude to base, have storage tanks for everything and when you get too much of a single fluid just flush one tank.

>>
>>499373769
I can't give a full response right now but barreling? Nah. Use fluid trains to deliver oil from small storage at the pumps to large storage at the base.
Pipes will always be more messy than belts, but with advanced oil processing, as long as you leave gaps in the refinery output/storage, you can use that space for cracking.
Consider using some simple wiring to check something like "is heavy oil greater than 25k? Start this pump and get cracking"

>What is the method?
Depends on how your production is set up, I personally think that running oil trains and sending all the oil to a refinery array near where my main production is set up is less of a hassle. For the yellow and purple you don't need light and heavy oil, just petro gas and sulfuric acid, so you can crack it in the meantime to simplify your life, later you may use circuits to deal with light oil or just coal liquefaction, but that's later.
Purple is iron heavy, yellow is copper hungry, you may need to set new furnace arrays for that.
>should I be running trains in with materials for battery production and all that shit?
Don't bother except if it's distant, just focus on one product at a time.
>Should I even bother with barreling liquids?
Don't, just use pipes.

If the consumer consumes at a rate of 1 blue belt then the train must be loaded and unloaded with 2+ blue belts so that it can work without interruption. The train can then supply multiple consumers. Vanilla factorio makes trains either useless or completely changes how logistics work. If they can only be loaded slowly with inserters then each consumer must have 1 or 2 dedicated trains.

I see some many people raging over the price (mainly because I'm specifically searching for negative opinions)
does this happen for other games too?
>>
>>499380762
I think the steam forums have a lot of third worlders.
It's crazy because factorio doesn't even have a ton of anti-piracy measures, it's mainly making the mod portal much better if you buy the game.
>>
>>499380762
No, you can sell any unfinished slop for twice the price and nobody will bat an eye.

The most important things to do to get biters to fuck off at the start is to kill their bases that touch your pollution, and have a base in a forest.
Killing spawners raises evo, but it's still a single-digit percentage of the evo contribution until you go full scale genocide

I tested the theory from a few days ago about speed and I think I found a bug. Remember the math about legendary mech armor, exoskeletons and fusion reactors? Well in theory each exoskeleton should only drain 200kw each, 26 total for a constant drain of 5.2mw, a legendary fusion reactor produce 6.25mw so it should be enough to power them... Except it's not. Contrary to what the game says, legendary exoskeletons drain MORE energy than normal ones. It works for normal exoskeletons but if you put legendary instead, you won't be able to power them to full. Batteries are not enough to compensate and legendary solar panels aren't enough either. You must use 2 reactors or else you will go at a speed of 937.5% (slightly more with solar) instead of 1800% from using 2 reactors. This should either be fixed to drain 200kw or be updated to show the actual drain (like roboports do).

The current numbers for those who are interested:
Max viable speed: 160.236 tiles per second (5 chunks per second)
Time to reach the end of the world from 0,0: 104 minutes.
Number of shield/health research required: 0
At this speed, you outrun the tree and biter nest generation and won't have to fight anything. Mech armor flies over everything, including worms and biters so you can in theory rebind your movement key and afk (but you'll likely die at the world border if you do that without a timer setup). This may vary with better cpu but I can't test that for obvious reasons.

tldr: Drain stat on exoskeleton is a lie but reaching the end of the world is possible in less than 2 hours. You can outrun world gen.
Who is gonna do it first in a legit game?

I normally play with biters pretty neutered, so I'm a bit lost with what to do next. So far I've just been manually hitting every biter nest in my pollution, but I don't think that's scalable now that I need to control other patches.
What is people's approach to normal biter management now that I'm reasonably up the tech tree? I can make most of what I need no problem, but I do need to get more of everything right now and I ideally don't want to make a giant wall around my entire base (but I will if that's the easiest way).

I might just go with a wall since it's the most foolproof once I leave the planet and it will also let me spread full roboport coverage safely (which is nice for remote behaviors), I kinda rubber ducked myself into it.

Probably if you do them right.
I assumed that I understood how it worked and made a massive train system based around shit that I in fact, did not understand at all. I'm thinking of just fucking around in the lab (Editor Extensions) and actually figuring out how they work properly, and then starting a new run.
Another problem of mine is I really wanted to rush to the new content (other planets), so I didn't plan out my Nauvis base very well and it really fucked me over on many occasions.

He sperged out anytime the power lines weren't in a straight line. Everything had to be straight lines or he'd sperg. He also tried making a bus but didn't even do that right and would freak out if everything wasn't aligned properly. Another thing he'd sperg out about was if yellow inserters or assembling machine 1s were used. Everything had to be blue or above.

>He sperged out anytime the power lines weren't in a straight line.
Oops, I meant the overhead copper cable for the power lines. He needed those to be in a straight line. Well, he needed both to be. He went on a 10 minute tirade about "I've never seen anyone build like this!" This is the second time I've met some faggot new player that watches a fucking nilaus or bus video and thinks it's the only way to play.

Satisfactory in a nutshell. They really make it hard to create a standalone facility.

>I did this by downclocking the extractor and it still didn't work.
Downclocking was less responsive than a valve when I tried it. The valve usually worked better for me.

>it's actually the opposite of how some tutorials illustrate the VIP junction schematics where the lower pump is prioritized I'm not sure how much real world physics you should apply here if at all.
The only version of the VIP junction that has ever worked for me has been the one where the lower pipe gets priority, so I've always made that my feedback loop. It has a specific lockup condition that I can't remember.

Yeah that only seems so because they played the base game -which is the first planet- hundreds of hours, so they have lots of routine. If you never played the game before, you won't be bored there with all the stuff you need to figure out.

>>499419926
L is just the default signal. You can click it to change it to any other signal.

Typically, you might use an arithmetic combinator to calculate how many trains' worth of crap this station can hold, and output that as L. That way if the buffer was completely empty, you'd get several trains queued up.
Or for output stations, same thing, except how much crap is in the buffer, not how much empty space, so if the buffer fills up, you can have a second train waiting.

But in 2.x, the right answer is usually: don't worry about it, set the train limit to 1, and just use the enable/disable setting, like you're already doing. In 1.x "disable" was different than "set limit to 0", so you needed to use the limit for best results, even if you're just setting it to 0/1, but now "disable" does exactly what you normally want.
>>
>>499421098
https://x.com/wooden203/status/1132628334511136769
>>
>>499420796
they output signals
for example you could have an arithmetic combinator calculate oil / 150k and output that to L, so you would have the number of train loads (with 3 fluid wagons per train) on the signal L
and then you can use that as the train limit

be aware that doing that will result in an excessive train limit if you have sufficient storage, especially with solid items where 4 steel chests = 4 train cars. and you probably dont want to have 4 trains waiting at the stop. so you will have to cap the signal at the maximum number of trains that should be waiting at the stop, which (as far as i know) is kind of a pain
>>
>>499421098
Dude that one is even weirder.
>>
>>499421492
it's still nice to have a train limit above 1 in 2.0 and it's probably going to get really important once you have access to the new stack inserters (formerly bulk inserters) and can empty chests at a rapid pace. and the new combinator with the ability to output an item's stack size makes it possible to do so in a generic station blueprint
>>

>>499422381
once you knock out all nauvis research you can do 4x qual2 module in t3 assembler for 8% upgrade chance, that's good enough to get a few uncommon asteroid collectors (quality gives them extra arms which is insanely strong)

other than that yeah i'd say wait for fulgora, that's where you unlock the recycler and the quality module 3, which is what you need to really start the quality grinding loops. also the EM plant with its productivity bonus helps a lot with module production.

You can as long as you've unlocked the legendary quality research on aquillo and put quality modules in your drills. Your base chance to get a legendary ore is Quality chance divided by 1000. So if you have 20% to get an uncommon ore, you also have 2% of getting a rare, a 0.2% of getting an epic and a 0.02% of getting a legendary.
