Daniel (and Bortnyk) have played a ton of rated otb blitz at their home club in Charlotte this year presumably to cash in on being credited for beating 1800s and lower. Prior to this rule, there would be no benefit as beating a player 600+ points lower rated yields nearly zero points. Instead the rule says if a 2700 beats a 1200 he still gets credit as if he beat a 2300.
