A fucking witch use a spell to warp inside my formation and she did annoying shenanigans, at least my Cleric, Silk, kill her but at the end of the match, the 3rd knight faggot landed a critical hit to Alm, my boy was 20/32HP and that critical sent him directly to the shadow realm.
So far, I have been enjoying this game for... around... 15 hours... more or less; I think I'm about to beat the first half of it, I'm currently hard stuck (have been rolled thrice) at the very beginning of the 3rd chapter.

why would you need FSR or DLSS to emulate 20 years old games made to run on hardware more outdated than today's calculators?
only coomsumer braindead gamers that buy every single AAA game that comes out care about dlss or fsr, it's a shitty technology that only exists so game devs make games that run worse and worse and look like shit
MGS5 phantom pain looks fantastic and runs on 15 years old hardware smoothly without any of this new technology garbage because it had skilled devs making the engine and the game
nowadays everything is made on unreal shit engine 5, that runs like complete crap on $2000 gpus and require dlss to get 100 fps, pathetic

During the third battle in Chapter 3, on Alm's route, you encounter these three cavalry units. The game splits your units into three groups. On my first attempt, my cleric and both archers were in the first group, closest to the enemy. I couldn't do anything, and the CPU punished me by killing all of them at its 1st turn... & this game has permanent death. I was penalized for a decision I didn't make—the game itself did. And here's the biggest issue I have with FE2: You can't confirm your army's formation before battle, study the terrain beforehand, or get any visual feedback for your army's formation, just a text list. it's obnoxiously frustrating.

I reset the game and tried again, making a better lineup with the information I had seen. But when you finish that battle, the CPU ambushes you, and the ambush formation isn't random; it's always the same. No matter what I do, they kill Robin (cavalry) or Silk (cleric) during the first attack every time. And there's nothing I can do but watch.

This is really messed up because it's a core issue. There's no way a strategy game should penalize the player for a decision they didn't make. I'll play Celica's route... or maybe I'll grind a little with Robin... But this is killing the immersion. I, the player, shouldn't "know" what's coming next. I should have a fair chance to win, and if I lose, I need feedback confirming that I messed up. FE2 does the exact opposite.

I'm playing Gaiden because I tried Engage, and that game is brainrot—like Fire Emblem meets Persona, but with zero substance. I thought I should give every previous FE a try to see its evolution. I have the feeling that Fire Emblem has no "soul." Intelligent Systems just produces them to make a profit, and that's it. They lack substance and that "soul" that makes it unique in its genre—like what Metroid has, for example. Something Halo has lost. A thing FE lacks of.

I feel each entry has the 'current thing' and that is it.

Yeah for lappys, not for desktop.
And even on mobile, Intel chips basically trade blows with AMD's in performance and battery life, their implementation of big.LITTLE is just bad and doesn't make that much difference in the end.

Just make sure the noise don't bother you if you get the 7700X. It's fine 90% of the time but my 7800X3D really starts screaming for the 10% of workload and games that actually heat it up (like RPCS3 and Xemu) and the non 3D versions have generally higher temps.

>from their 10nm to TSMC's 3nm
because nms became a marketing buzzword for idiots
Since at least 1997, "process nodes" have been named purely on a marketing basis, and have no relation to the dimensions on the integrated circuit;[1] neither gate length, metal pitch or gate pitch on a "10nm" device is ten nanometers.[2][3][4] For example, GlobalFoundries' "7 nm" processes are dimensionally similar to Intel's "10 nm" process.[5] TSMC and Samsung's "10 nm" processes are somewhere between Intel's "14 nm" and "10 nm" processes in transistor density. The transistor density (number of transistors per square millimetre) is more important than transistor size, since smaller transistors no longer necessarily mean improved performance, or an increase in the number of transistors.
https://wikiless.northboot.xyz/wiki/10_nm_process?lang=en
The term "3 nanometer" has no direct relation to any actual physical feature (such as gate length, metal pitch or gate pitch) of the transistors. According to the projections contained in the 2021 update of the International Roadmap for Devices and Systems published by IEEE Standards Association Industry Connection, a 3nm node is expected to have a contacted gate pitch of 48 nanometers, and a tightest metal pitch of 24 nanometers.

Who cares? It's as done as it's ever going to be, and I don't think Nintendo feels like it's encroaching as much. Cube's a nothingburger, and Wii stuff isn't being sold and can only be fully replicated if you're weird enough to get an IR bar, BT, and actual Wiimote going.

It's working.. but the Shadow part of the game doesn't upscale at all. I went and checked all these clickbait 4K or 8K youtube videos of the game on ryujinx and it's clearly still just rendering at 720p or under. Looks like someone need to make an high resolution patch.
But the sonic part upscale just fine and runs pretty good. Kinda insane how ryujinx handle switching between the 2 games perfectly.

crystalball.jpg, but unless the PS5 has some complicated security scheme the PS4 doesn't, I can't imagine it being that hard as the fundamentals of the hardware are so similar. CPU power stagnating a bit is actually a good thing.. because devs should try optimizing sometimes. I swear most of them don't even do the bare minimum these days.
But whatever am5 cpu you got it will definitely carry you for a while. And Intelaviv need to get their shit together soon anyway because it would be nice if the last cpu for AM5 boards will give us another big boost. I don't mind buying cpus half frequently but changing the board is a pain in the ass. Also if Intel sucks too much AMD will pull an Nvidia and start increasing their prices.
>>
>>499790139
They'll pull an Nvidia AND an Intel by increasing prices and barely improving. I gather making better CPUs is tougher than GPUs as there's less and less theoretical room to grow without drastically changing the paradigm, though I get the impression GPUs are hitting the wall too with how fucking huge and power hungry 4090 was.

>>499790139

Is there any difference between "meds" and "med"? Well, there is. My father took meds for many years and had a long and satisfactory life. A fucked-up doctor suggested he could take med instead. Dad died a little after a week later, out of nowhere. Be careful of what you ingest.

They have nothing to hide. No, literally, they have nothing, that's why they won't show you. Whenever a core updates, it's because someone, somewhere, translated a *single* line of text to a random language around the world. Other than that, it's a dude making sure the cores work on Apple's ecosystem, which is irrelevant to very close to 100% of the users. Perhaps FBNeo is the only core which gets maintenance updates.

And that's the future. RetroArch devs are old, jaded and just don't care anymore. New devs need to overcome a huge wall of suspicion and drama, so they likely won't appear or last long if they do. RetroArch is good, but it is what it is and this will stay exactly like so, today or ten years after. Time has frozen.

Death of emulation started with the monetary success of Cemu, when people mistook a passing green pasture as a proper business venture and thought emulation was serious business. It corrupted devs, sparked (even more!) drama and made the softwares more patchy.

>>499913834
But it did have games, sega being sega just did a really shitty job bringing them out of japan.
>>499903269
As history went when planning the saturn sega considered bringing model1 as a home console but since they fostered a lot of silo mentality among departments the arcade division said fuck you you are on your own to the console division.

>>
>>499934434
Wait I mixed shit. The model1/LM thing was for the Dreamcast dev, amazingly *SGI* is what was consider for the Saturn development.
https://segaretro.org/History_of_the_Sega_Saturn/Development
https://arstechnica.com/civis/threads/segas-unreleased-saturn-2-and-the-dreamcast-story.1171033/
At that point it'd been cheaper to bring model1 to home consoles but, it was too little too late.
Lost the link where Kalinske is quoted heavily criticising sega around the saturn business and can't be bothered to manual search the /vr/, important thing is sega was such a mess on the outside because it was a very messy company.
>>
>>499899924
At least they stopped milking the 5 minutes PS5 Pro announcement. They must have generated a hundred hours of "content" from that alone
>>
>>499936648
Model 1 wouldn't have been any better at running the likes of Daytona and likely wouldn't have had the 2D meme. SGI may have given Sega a better N64 if they did it right.
>>
>>499937730
>arcade-accurate cruisn' usa at the home
Not bad in all honesty.
>>
>>499937874
Cruisn didn't use an SGI GPU. It was this roided out MIPS doing all the heavy lifting, not a modern accelerator with filtering etc. Ultra64 arcade stuff was basically this Midway kit that had little to do with the N64. Peak 90s bullshit.
>>
>>499933528

lol, i'm 100% sure channers have worked on torzu, so it's no big deal in all honesty.
>>
>>499937730
Yes but at the time of the saturn model1 would've blown out of the water everything else 3D wise, with 0 2d yeah.
At the time of the dreamcast which is what LM was in charge of initially (not the saturn), it wouldn't have held a candle to the PS2. An alternate timeline with sega not massively cheapening out on the N64 and bringing a sgi machine with proper texture memory to home consoles would have been awesome.
>>
>>499938874
Not sure how great that makes me feel honestly lol. I'm sure an emu is gonna assfuck my life one of these days.
>>
>>499939158
I'm pretty sure that was only one time so far with Xenia, and even then it was for a brief period.
>>
>>499939124
Don't think Model 1 was the way but N64 with optical and more efficient texture/memory handling woulda been special. Probably the absolute best you could expect for the time in a console.

An addendum here about overclock.
Don't go for the 300% that i posted there, just boot a game, and up 10% by 10% till you have a good framerate.
A high overclock rate generally mess up games and you only need 150% max to have a locked frame rate.

Example on the webum, tried 300% and mess everything up speed wise, them settled for 150% and got a locked 60fps, this plus all the other settings and shader nets you an amazing experience, almost an remaster of the game.

Emulation is the best.

NiGHTS, Panzer Dragoon, Guardian Heroes, Burning Rangers, Shining the Holy Ark, Virtual On, Virtua Fighter, Virtua Cop, Virtual Hydlide, not everyone likes the Sonic games for Saturn but I do. There's plenty of stuff worth checking out on Saturn. The reasoning for the addition has not been officially confirmed, but it is likely due to a new law. In September 2024, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a law forcing digital storefronts to clearly state that customers are purchasing a license to use digital media, rather than owning the actual product.<

It's shadow boxing but with Hatsune Miku. I set the bitchass game at its highest level. 30 minute session. I took it seriously; I punched for real: throwing my jabs from the shoulders, my uppercuts from my waist and each hook with all the torque my waist can provide. Keep my footwork (left right, back and forth) with that metronome the game has plus the songs rhythm.
I used to box back in college.
There is a fat faggot asian on jewtube playing it like a fag with hypogonadism, yellow mofo is just standing still moving his hands like a pussy; no foot work, without using his back and waist, that is not the way is meant to be played. Playing it this way is like playing DDR with a fucking keyboard instead of your damn legs.

No need to go straight for the jugular, weirdo. Yeah, on a 1080p emulator that aesthetic could be argued for but it looked like it was running at sub 480i over an RF cable on Wii hardware.

Maybe that could work if you had enough pixels to give it the texture of something like that; 480i certainly doesn't qualify. Still a dubious as fuck choice for a game you're looking at for several hours, has objects in the distance you need to parse, and is filled with secrets/puzzles you need clear visual tells for. On top of that, Bieber-link is gross. The fuck is wrong with you?
>>
>>500171460
The problem with skyward sword was that it was too cramped you idiot. It didn't have anything at a distance you needed to parse.
>>
>>500171621
>nevermind that you fucking FLEW and scouted for distant skylands, and there were dungeons with large rooms that had details smudged out in the distance even in the memeshot at 1080p, let alone on a composite cable (bundled with hardware) at 480i.
>>
>>500171460
You can't have the detailed brush strokes that picture exhibits at 480i. There aren't enough pixels and it'll just get blurred down to looking low-res on a CRT + shitcable, not 'impressionistic'
>>
>>500171875
All you had to do was see that the very few islands are there and then fly up to them. You don't interact with anything at a great distance.
>dungeons with large rooms
Everything you need to interact with is inside the filters range.
Like I said the game is cramped and the devs knew it.

Answering myself: switching off VSync in RA globally and letting just the driver stack handle anti tearing is a bad idea, at least on my Loonix+Xorg+no compositor+RA using Vulkan setup. It has massive frametime judder and drops frames out the ass for some reason.
I initially asked because I hazily remember reading about RA's VSync option being tied to some internals to keep frame pacing optimal. I didn't expect it to shit the bed this hard when switched off.
Guess I'll just disable FF for the PPSSPP core instead so I don't accidentally crash it.

Given that shadPS4 can emulate new releases that are Denuvo protected on PC, like Metaphor, people should start doing full git mirrors of the project just in case.

Use
>git clone --mirror
to get all branches and shit

You can also easily grab pull requests by adding ".patch" to the end of the PR url. This gives you a patch file that can be applied to a git repo with
>git apply whatever.patch
>>
>>500200706
Shadps4 is the least of Sega's concerns regarding Metaphor, the demo was exploited to circumvent the full game. As for high budget/denuvo games, Shadps4 is just a babby and has the only graphically impressive game it runs is Bloodborne with 6 hacks stapled on. You never know what'll happen in this corpo dystopia we've stepped in and are marching deeper into. Being the huge faggot that I am, I tuned in to a small-time streamer playing an SNES game, and hearing some sound issues, I asked what emulator he was using. He just told me "look it up on Reddit, I don't want to get in trouble with the platform talking about those kinds of things". Now, I'm pretty sure you won't get striken or banned for discussing an emulator (far bigger streamers do so all the time), but the fact that the fear of saying things that may run afoul of a big corporation's interests is out there and people actively self-censor as a result is still pretty fucking nightmarish. I guess this is one of the only sites on the internet that doesn't require you to make an account at all so that makes it more susceptible to attack, but still. I'd pin the blame more on the fact that the site has only gotten bigger and yet the mod team is still this tiny group of insular jackasses that never seems to expand because they want to keep it a secret club between friends - this is the whole reason they created the "janitor" position, so the mods could have people who do the work for them without any of the power of being actual mods.

I didn't update Cemu in while but unless there has been more regressions, the original game was running 4K 100fps flawlessly for me. on Ryujinx it's for sure going to stutter more at least.
The remaster just basically look like a dumb port to me, and it won't fix the localization issues like you can fix them on Cemu, so it's safe to assume you should just play the game on Cemu right now if you're interested.
I love XCX so much though so I hope it'll work either way.

it depends, gotta check the changelogs.

And with very little drama or bullshit since. They've just quietly kept plodding along all these years. It's what I always point to when people say you need to be autistic or maladjusted to be a good emudev.

Bonus points for not only outliving ZSNES, but being far more compatible too.

Funny thing is, they're still using some ZSNES code, in particular its SuperFX code (only they translated the original assembly code into C). Apparently it's one of the emulator's few remaining sticking points that still causes some issues.

The remaster is redoing the character models the same way they did for the original Xenoblade remaster, which is a big thing people bitched about back when X first came out and is also the reason why they switched to a more anime art style with 2 and 3, so I imagine a lot of people will prefer to play the remaster for that reason. They're also adding new story content which might be great news considering how the game ends. Hopefully the game is more successful this time around so they can do the sequel they always wanted to do. I have a feeling it will be, I always felt the reason X underperformed was because the Wii U was a poorly received console in general. But 2 had a Fire Emblem Awakening-esque effect on the series, which is a double edged sword for obvious reasons, but it has caused everything with Xenoblade in the name to start selling extremely well, so I have a good feeling about this one.

There's no cheat to fix it? Can't be too hard, right?

Only some levels render upside-down. Even gpucode couldn't figure it out.

Has anyone been able to run Card-en-Ciel on Yuzu or Ryujinx? Am I just screwed if I want to emulate new games with them now?

it's a zoomer thing

I don't, really. A few things niche things like Teknoparrot/Wincade games have been a pain in the ass, but most things are still accessible. Still, I hate that it's crippled (and why) on principle.

>he entirety of switch emulation progress? tis but a scratch
Just tested a ryjujinx fork that fixed valkyria chronicles fmv issues in less then a week, so no, progress i happening.
>>archive.org? just a minor flesh wound
Shit speed and security so bad that a random Plestian fucked them up, yeah, true value.

Happened 10 years ago already.

Has been happening for decades.

Torrents are shit and the good stuff was never seeded.
