Yeah, I think you're right. I solo'd margit and even learned to parry him almost conistently ish, but I used the more practice with less loading screens approach, ie I went to caelid for the dragoncrest shield talisman, bought the chad armor at the roundtable, and came in at level 25 with some vigor. And I still felt the need to hit him with cheese off a couple times. I'm never gonna be gud enough to bitchslap him right out of the gate or go toe to toe to toe with duo bosses. Oh well. At least I don't auxiliary assistance to draw blood with a medieval weapon or to just outright have someone else to do the fights for me.

Why is it that whenever I watch youtube videos of people playing the game it looks like it's running in slow motion and it looks like they completely mistime rolls and never take any damage? STR/INT is very fun. My first run started as a pure strength build and then I ventured into STR/INT.

All INT builds should use Carian Slicer, and it works great on STR/INT because you can use something like a zweihander or a claymore in your mainhand, but if you need fast melee damage you can use carian slicer in your offhand. Carian Slicer is honestly something that can be used for the entire game once you get it.

Early on you can put sorcerers armament on a weapon of your choice, or you can go for a frost infused weapon if you have the whetblade to do it. Frost is a phenomenal status effect, and INT has plenty of spells that can inflict frost. Later on, there is a dedicated STR/INT colossal sword that has a frost explosion on it (hint, its not a dual wield weapon that you might early), and its phenomenal. There is also a regular INT greatsword that does frost damage too. It just takes time to get your full setup, just like any build, but as you can see there's lots of options to play STR/INT. Good luck buddy.

You should still do it if you want even if I say its bad. When I said bad I didn't really mean functionality, I meant you'll literally only be pressing L2 with a clayman spear in your hands.
It does really big damage, but damn is it boring as fuck quickly. The other anons said you just need to get your setup, which you do, and once you do you have big damage but you'll bore of it in a matter of minutes after spending hours getting it built.

I generally don't like INT at all. I made an INT build then it warped into STR/INT with a full weapon art leveraged talisman setup for big damage and low fp cost. Spells are fucking garbage compared to what weapon arts can do.
It was boring.
Try it yourself, you can assemble the ice spear clayman harpoon pretty easily to see how it does. Its biggest downside is its boring. Those 2 stats together might be the smallest support of actual functional options in the game it feels incredibly narrow.

Don't listen to the other guy. There is lots of opportunity for the build to work and be fun. I would suggest you try it yourself, based on some of the hints posted ITT and come up with your own conclusion. You can respec over 10+ in a normal playthrough anyways if you really hate it. But Elden Ring has so many options I'm sure you'll have fun with something and make it work. Oh, also Waves of Darkness is a great weapon skill on INT builds when you finally get it. I only shill STR/INT because I did it blind on my first playthrough too, without prior knowledge of items or the game's mechanics, and managed to finish the game. STR/INT is basically 54 STR + 20 INT, you're not meant to use spells but you get a lot of fun Somber weapons, specially for PVE.
The Ruins Greatsword, Falling Star Beast Jaw, Rosus Axe and Meteorite Katana are all pretty fun.
Cold infused STR weapons like a Cold Greatsword with Waves of Darkness will also deal decent damage.

I broke it out on Metyr to see 1/3rd of her hp disappear in one drop of the leg. Thing is dumb cool but that 20 lbs to use it is steep. I only broke it out occassionally due to it being too strong lol.
I mained the spear after realizing all my builds morphed into colossal weapon builds unless I actively stopped myself from doing it.
Godslayer, Fire Monk GS, Executioner GA. All that stuff weighs like 17 lbs and up. I realized I was truncating my own play style into a dominant strat and tried to throttle it. Is bleed a good solution to that? Fuck no its still bonkers but at least Mogh's Spear was 10 lbs and had a completely different moveset.

The land itself is veiled with 6 massive veils hanging from the 6 divine towers. The same focus on drapery is in Marika's bedroom, the central temple in Farum Azula, and Gurranq's sactum uses the same drapery as on the beast champion armor (the armos is using a drape as a cape).

Veils are in all cultures because they are all being meddled with by forces they don't understand, they themselves are being culturally veiled so they become useful instruments in the sick game the ayyy gods are playing.

In the case of the veil that rests on top of the scadutree, its one of those situations where where Fromsoft took a fantasy concept - the land of shadow being obscured from the rest of the lands between with a veil made by Marika the Eternal's great power to hide the shadowlands, hide her past and seal in her son, Messmer - that "power" is a literal blanket that rests on top of the scadutree. Its something that Fromsoft does in a lot of their games. Taking a metaphor, then flipping it on its head and making it more literal. Honestly its one of my favorite things that they do, sometimes its so clever.

For other things, like the buildings in Belurat, I assume 2 things are happening:
1. Belurat was already decaying, dilapidated and decrepit before Messmer went on his crusade to purge the tower folk, so they covered the roofs and buildings with those blankets to prevent rain, dust, snow, etc, from getting into their homes that are falling apart.
2. It helps drive the point home that the hornsent and their culture are vastly different from the golden order's - the blankets on the buildings are a visual motif that isn't repeated elsewhere, and plus things like Persian rugs are famous but also seen as very eastern and foreign for western nations.

So these two ideas utility and style end up working together really nice. Belurat especially is one of my favorite levels in Elden Ring, if not my #1. Visually its amazing, and I love Belurat's theme. Its probably one of my favorite tracks in the whole game.

Listen to the grandam dialog at the introduction to the Dancing Lion fight. She is describing how they meet their god half way by creating a vessel for it to possess. So when the ritual was complete the god they summoned saw marika as the one making the sacrifice not the hornsent. She simply used them to get what she wanted. Seduction and betrayal. She taught them the proper way to ascend, but not the full payment. So they enact the ritual but she gets the favor.

I love Malenia's voice. When you first see her she looks so serene and peaceful, almost delicate. When she actually wakes and starts speaking, even before she *teleports behind you* and chops you in half, you can clearly feel the strength and charisma of her voice, and how in her prime, she was probably a dazzling presence to all her follower (a bit of that is still present with her kill line). But now she just sounds sleepy, as if she's half still a dream. Especially the very slight breathiness and fatigue when she says "wait" and how she intones "I dreamt for so long...". Underrated performance, I wish she talked more and had more than one note in her appearances. Hearing a happy and/or energetic Malenia would make the contrast more obvious.

Malenia's entire character is overcoming the scarlet rot: she loses her eyes and limbs, its constantly trying to entice her to succumb to the rot, and the blue dancer showed her that despite the pain in her life she can overcome it with hard work and determination. Like you said, she is constantly fighting against things that are entirely out of her control and overcoming these obstacles is the embodiment of her character.

And to your second point, yeah you're right. I was positive I was going to learn something about him that makes me re-think his whole character and maybe feel bad for him. And while I do feel bad for him, I think the point of his character is really to drive home that vengeance will not soothe your wounded heart. Hornsent never wanted peace, he always wanted to violently murder those he felt were responsible or complicit with the genocide of his people, and he was perfectly content to die violently to achieve it. He even states it when you talk to him for the first time.

What exemplifies Radahn's determination then? His determination to emulate godfrey? It doesn't fit as nicely as Malenia's determination. If you want the maximum qeapon variety then level both equally, you can apply an upgrade called "quality" which makes weapons get strengthened by both (though it won't outperform damage wise till later levels)
Then like if you want to and find a weapon that you want to stick with, you can specialize in str or dex later with it

All weapon classes can be used with < 20 dex, but almost all big weapons and shields require a lot of STR.
And you can just infuse faster weapons with heavy.

This area is a mess. The Rotten Stray that's inexplicably there plus the dancers dressed in blue (that their item description says has religious significance) and Millicent going there to follow Malenia implies some connection to Malenia and/or Rot. But the skinning we see and the Godskin Apostle there implies a Godskin connection. And neither are really whole.

Just fought Malenia. Waterfowl dance is really stupid. I enjoyed the rest of the fight but if the boss can input read my light attack and punish for 100% and I can't actually get out of the way because of the recovery on my colossal weapon I'm going to give up and use cheat engine. That's kind of a shame, if she didn't have that one attack I could tell I would have enjoyed the fight. I'm sure I could have swapped to some cheese build and kill her in one hit or whatever but I want to beat things with a giant hammer. Wouldn't really have been an issue if they let armor work, come to think of it, but only DS2 had the audacity to have functional armor.
