All multiplats ran like trash on the PS3 unless they were relatively light or had really mindful reworking for the platform. It was a given that they'd take a 25% performance or resolution cut at the least. The GPU arch just wasn't as great as 360s. The 360 has more exclusive and worthy Jap games, especially early on, than you'd think. PS3 had a redemption arc to go through between building up exclusives worth playing and developers working around its graphical capabilities. Demon's Souls was basically the cue where PS3. Note that almost all of those actually worth a fuck are 2009 onward.

Well yeah, PS3 became affordable, adopted, and devs learned how to use it. 360 adoption was mid at best in Japan, and it's natural for Japs to make more games for Sony's platform. PS3 was just THAT shit at first. No one was buying it, and even 360's tepid Jap adoption was considered more profitable.

Speaking of retTROONarch, why on earth is the Settings > Video > Scaling option in the general settings and not on a per-core basis? That's incredibly RETARDED!

I want to force a 4:3 aspect ratio (1280x960) for every home console—NES, SNES, Mega Drive, PSX, you name it, but I want to do integer scaling for every handheld I emulate while on 4:3. I want to replicate the 4:3 ratio feeling for GBA, GB, and PSP as if I plugged them into a 4:3 monitor. But I can't; if I play PSP or GBA, I have to change the settings manually instead of having them set per core.

Like, c'mon man, the settings "freedom" is so retarded.

Sad, the N64 version did it. The AA is better than nothing I guess but I had higher hopes.
>>
>>500845091
What's weird about that is that downsampling implies that it's running at a higher resolution first as part of the process.
>>
>>500856261
>Generally, I tend to prefer super-sampling over straight up-scaling on SD content. The mixing of SD UI elements and ultra-sharp polygon edges looks quite jarring to me. Super-sampling also works much better with CRT emulation. To upscale the anti-aliased content to screen, AMD FSR1 + RCAS can be used, and does a decent job here.

TheMaiester opinion on that.
>>
>>500857565
The FSR part is so fucking retarded.
>>
>>500853101
If I select "auto" and then configure each core, some systems can't display the full 1280x960 resolution. For example, the SNES doesn't fully utilize that resolution. Even if I crop some overscan (as I did with the NES in a previous post, it is forced 4:3 and is cropped to achieve square squares or whatever), it won't display anything additional; it will keep the black bars and crop the overscan within the visible picture.

I find it hard to explain. The only solution I've found is to force 4:3 in Settings > Video > Scaling, but I have to change it manually every time I switch between systems (specifically between home consoles and handheld consoles).

Back in the day, I used to play PSP on a CRT (PSP Go connected through component) and I want to replicate that experience. I would like to scale the native 480x272 resolution by 2 (960x540) on a 1280x960 canvas. The same goes for the GBA, which I used to play on a GameCube.

The problem is that I want to use integer scaling for handhelds but force a 4:3 ratio for home consoles. However, due to RetroArch's settings hierarchy/priorities, I can't save these settings (Settings > Video > Scaling) per core/platform/directory but only globally.

I don't want to adjust this setting every time I switch systems. It's annoying and frustrating.

For example, this screenshot is 1200x800, which is 5 times the GBA resolution, and it's projected on a 1280x960 canvas which "emulates" a 4:3 monitor. But if I switch to a NES or MD game, it won't be forced to 4:3 unless I manually change the setting again... every time...
>>
>>500857565
I generally agree but 480p elements aren't nearly as jarring as 240 ones of older systems and PS2 graphics benefit much more from increased resolution than 5th gen. If it's indeed sampling down from a high resolution someone should be able to hack HD out of it. Really silly if he doesn't make it an option purely because of his tastes.

Looks better than software w/ downsampling anyway. Be nice if the compiler bro could somehow dig into this and pull the HD image out of what's being downsampled, but I imagine it takes true tranny skills and/or TheMaiester's blessing to get that.
>>
Performance is solid and generally ~40% util on a 3080
>>
I mean yeah it's GPU driven software mode alright. PCSX2's software is already pretty fast, though and the kind of GPU you need probably won't be paired with a tater CPU. Until it does HD it's a little underwhelming outside of the AA.

>>
>>500857743
Reading your posts a few times, I think (correct me if I'm wrong) your issue arises from your wish to integer scale the content. If that's what you want, your solution would be to use **overrides** inside of RetroArch. That feature creates another configuration file that can be attached to a game, core or folder, saving you the need to go back and forth with your configuration. Be warned though: having multiple overrides means that any change made for one won't carry for the others, so you can't have "global settings" that easy anymore.

As a side note, the sanest behavior would be leaving the scaling at "core provided", and deal with aspect ratio inside each core, which can be easily saved with no downside. You can easily achieve PAR on the horizontal axis if you want, but the vertical one may vary. Regardless, if it's jittering that binds you to integer scaling, that can be swiftly be solved with many shaders, up to your taste.

If I do it as you have told me. Is the 1280x960 canvas but is not drawing the whole game all over the "canvas", but I won't need to do anything else, if I play a handheld system it will respect its ratio and do integer scaling.
>>
>>500864651
>>500867139
And this is how it looks if I force its ratio (Settings > Video > Scaling). If you see, it is drawing the whole game all over the 1280x960 canvas, no black borders.
>inb4
both screenshots have a 16px up & down crop, even if I crop right and left, it will crop the frame itself not the borders.

The downside of this is that I need to change it manually everytime I emulate a different game, why? I want to force 4:3 on "home console" systems and do integer scaling on "handheld console" systems.
---
RetroArch don't let me save it per core/system/directory, it is, somehow, global, which is dumb, stupid, retarded and frustrating.

But I want to kept NES (and any other 'home console' game) forced 4:3 and as soon as I emulate a "handheld" game like Peace Walker, I want to see something like this: a 480x272 frame as 960x540 (integer scaling) on a 1280x960 canvas. Why? because this is how I used to play it back then... with my PSP Go connected on the TV... back then it didn't forced it to 4:3 whereas it did with NES and MD.

tl;dr
"Settings > Video > Scaling" should have an option to save that config as core/game/directory, not to forced me to save it as "global". I don't want that, I want to do integer scaling on handheld games and force 4:3 on "home console" games.

It's not very elegant but there is a way to do what you're asking. Set up your config for home consoles (i.e. 4:3). When you load a handheld game, change the video settings to integer scaling, then (while the game's still loaded) go to Quick Menu, then Save Core Overrides. That way, the video settings will only be changed for that particular core.

https://docs.libretro.com/guides/overrides/#override-configs

You'll have to do this for every handheld core you use. If you use more handheld cores than home console ones, it may be easier to set your global config to integer scaling with overrides to 4:3 for your home console cores.
>>

>>
>>500876309
yeah but it should be optional, not part of the pipeline
>>
>>500874902
>https://docs.libretro.com/guides/overrides/#override-configs
It does not work, because "Settings > Video > Scaling" is global, its hierarchy is higher than core overdrive, I have tried it; doesn't work.
>>
>>500869590
What you mean as "canvas" is that it's your desktop resolution? Or are your resolution actually higher, but you're creating a custom viewport of 1280x960 solely for usage within RetroArch?
>>
File: Screenshot (139).png (929 KB, 1280x960)
929 KB
929 KB PNG
>>500878174
PS:
I know "core" should be higher than "global", but the forced ratio and stuff is "global global", global as retroachievements; you can't have different account or have one account per game/directory/core, same with audio, you can't save different audio filters per game/directory/core, same with video/scaling. Everything inside "Settings" affects everything and it won't allow the final user to save a specific setting for a game, core or directory.

If I overdrive those handheld system cores it won't matter because the hierarchy "settings/video/scaling" has is higher than anything else.

RetroArch handles it this game, which is retarded. As far as I know some cores added "global settings" such video filters (MESEN and MESEN-S) because if you use BLARGG for SNES and then you try to play a MD or PC Engine game... that filter will fucked them up because SNES has a different resolution (see the screenshot attached), since RetroArch is fucked up from its core/heart/insides some cores handle said filters on its own... making "settings/video/filters" kind of useless/obsolete. Something similar happens with Picodrive/Genesis GX and is own low pass filter; if you use "bassboss" sound filter from "settings/sounds" and then you enable low-pass... the sound quality will be lame too.

What I am saying is... This hierarchy is a big cluster fuck RetroArch has and make this whole piece of software an obnoxious and frustrating experience if you dare to do something "out of the box".

>Or are your resolution actually higher, but you're creating a custom viewport of 1280x960 solely for usage within RetroArch?
Yes. Native resolution is 2048x1536, but I want to record some footage that is why those screenshots have a hyllian shader on top.
>>
>>500880236
>you can't save different audio filters per game/directory/core, same with video/scaling. Everything inside "Settings" affects everything and it won't allow the final user to save a specific setting for a game, core or directory.

You can. That's the whole point of overrides. They allow you to change a part of the global settings for a particular core, directory or game.

How have you been setting them up?
>>
>>500881623
I see. In that case, if you *really* need a custom viewport, then your only solution would be a core override, make sure you are setting them properly, because what you want is doable.

Also, are you using that custom viewport solely for recording footage?
>>
>>500881727
I load the game, then I changed its scaling as "core provided" and saved it as "content directory overdrive" at "quick menu/overdrives".

Then I reset RetroArch, it loaded forcing 4:3, I tried loading a PSP again and nothing happened.
>>
Now I feel like an idiot.

>>500882703
>I see. In that case, if you *really* need a custom viewport, then your only solution would be a core override, make sure you are setting them properly, because what you want is doable.
I just tried again but selecting "Save Cores Overdrive" instead of "content directory overdrive".

I do apologize to that Danny dude. My bad, it was a me problem dude, I'm sincerely sorry for what I said.

>Also, are you using that custom viewport solely for recording footage?
Yes, which is not that usual.
---
Thank you very much, Anon, I do appreciate you. Thank you for spending your free time helping me.
>>
>>500883750
I'm glad you got it working.

For future reference, the time to use content directory overrides is when you want different settings for different games loaded by the same core.

A good example would be if you used Genesis Plus GX to play both Mega Drive and Game Gear games. You could have your global config set to 4:3, but when loading a GG game you could save a content directory override for integer scaling. This would mean that Mega Drive games would still be shown in 4:3 (as long as they are not in the same directory as the Game Gear ones).

Hope this helps.
>>
>>500883750
No problem. Nice to see you're overcoming the issues. About the recording, isn't better to use your native resolution to play the game normally, then resize the video to 1280x960 by editing it? That way, you could forget the custom viewport and integer scaling, letting each core dictating the aspect ratio and smoothing the process on your end.

Speaking of which. I'm currently playing midnight club and my fps dips to mid 40s sometimes while both cpu and gpu are underutilized. Is this normal for rpcs3?
>>
>>500928059
Pretty typical. it was probably one of the more recently introduced "accuracy" regressions.
It will be reverted once the geniuses figure out it is causing problems and then some new regression will replace it.

>isn't better to use your native resolution to play the game normally, then resize the video to 1280x960 by editing it?

My native resolution is higher than 1080p and I'm aiming to do a video essay in 1080p. If I record footage in 1280x960 instead of 2048x1536 I won't need to do anything else, just record it with a shader and filter, then I will have nice and sharp 2x ntsc crt resolution, that will allow me to put a linear border and I will have space to add stuff to make emphasis according what I'm saying through the video.

If I do crt switchres I will end up with a "native" resolution and I think my nvidia gpu does not even allow me to do so. I want to show a middle ground between "real hardware" and emulation, since I'm emulating, I want to show off the pros like forced 4:3, shaders, video and audio filters, crop... that FE2 screenshot is a proof, on real hardware it has no "squared squares", but in retroarch if you force 4:3 and you crop 16px up and down, you will achieve "squared squares".

To be honest, time. If I record it in QXGA the picture quality is going to be compromised and most likely I will need to do some editing to achieve something as good as that hyllian trinitron shader. I was thinking to just record my mitsubishi crt with a camera and call it a day, but I feel it will add a hipster and pretentious aura to my video, I just want to talk about how Fire Emblem has changed through the years. I find amazing the different "souls" FE has, Yokoi & Kaga first FE have an "experimental soul", Kaga's Thracia 776 is too mature and TearRing double it down... Then post Kaga era (GBA/NGC/Wii) and then the current brainrot waifu degenerative era. Encore is really fucked up, it is less of strategy and more social/romance/pet simulator. Is so fucked up.
>Yokoi/Kaga, Kaga, post Kaga, waifu degeneration.

tl;dr
I want to show a good looking way to play some retro games but respecting the "limitations" of the era.

It doesn't but if one thread is maxed it's over, you're not getting anywhere faster if that happens. You can try using the options that increase the number of threads (multithread RSX, or toying with scheduler)
Still rpcs3 does underutilize cpus I found. Testing on my 7800X3D the max utilization I get is never over 50% total and no threads ever get maxed and performance that still drop. Still Midnight Club should be running over 60 on a strong CPU.

Apparently 7700x is not a strong CPU then. And I'm not saying that it doesn't run over 60, I'm saying that it dips to 40s.

Well this one seems cool, I mean it has "X" and "3D" in the name, but it probably costs too much. I don't know how the curve of cost vs performance works for cpus especially for modern emulators
My current CPU still can't play some RPCS3 and Switch games and while it seems like ShadPS4 will be fine on it I'd still like some overkill there, and for Switch 2. I think upgrading to anything new would solve that but I dunno what exactly to get and don't want to waste too much money.

There's a lag benefit, but that's about it. Most will probably use displays and controllers that neutralize half of it anyway. You need a CRT and a non-USB controller via snac or you may as well just be emulating with run-ahead. It's JUST an emu core flashed to fpga, and mister is limited to what like a Pentium 3 can do. Just about any display you buy has VRR now, and you can cut a lot of emu-lag via that and run-ahead 1 frame.

Tested again but this time i tried a bunch of games, looks like that option actually did it.
The sound problem that won't go away ended up being for games with some kind of regression like Maken and Blood Will Tell (now that i think about both these games use "Dreamcast" technology hmmm).
Now i'm testing others and things like Baroque and Crimson Tears are working fine.
I also think the core now comes with the deinterlace patches option always on, hope that the option to turn off comes back there is some games that ended up quite garish by forcing no interlacing.
But in the end, downsamling+shader is the kino combination.

Such a narrative change. I hope you suck themaister's dick twice a day now. To think, what could you achieve if you lived together (with your mom).

ParaGS breaks Parappa 2 beyond native resolution. Also Retroarch's implementation for all its flaws at least lets you dodge that shit soup FSR pass. Someone please do the needful about that.
>>
>>501109391
>narrative change
Since when? PCSX2 LaFrance Edition has been vastly superior for years. No software mode and it shitting itself between games always made the core a nonstarter. Crashing between games has been ironed out, and its ParaGS looks better as it cuts out that butt fugly FSR pass. All it needs to do is add back interlacing settings, widescreen, and EE clocking and it's competitive with the standalone again.

PS2 had some great games but it was a SHIT. They really used every cheesy CRT obfuscated trick in the book to get modern graphics out of this thing.
>>
>>501122259
Don't forget the image being 512 pixels in width. It's pretty much the most CRT-dependent console ever made.
>>
>>501122892
No AA either or when it did, it was some sort of proto-FXAA shit which isn't great with so few pixels.
>>
>>501123089
Yeah, even the N64 had it at the hardware level, although it, again, only looks decent on a CRT. Between that and the fullscreen horizontal-only blur, I'd put the N64 at a close second behind the PS2 for needing a CRT to look ok.
>>
>>501122892
>512 pixels in width
I'm pretty dumb, so what does this mean? Is it bad because competitors used 640 pixels instead, or does the value 512 have some worse property for CRTs?
>>
>>501126245
It was a way to save on framebuffer memory, by assuming that area between 512 to 640px would be overscan anyway.
>>

yeah a shit gpu and no memory and no compression will do that.

Most PS2 games were rendered at 512x448, 8:7 aspect ratio that would display fine on a CRT as they would just display non-square pixels to make it 4:3, but you can't do that on other displays so you you either end up with odd non-interger scaling or the incorrect aspect ratio. And yeah, most GC/Xbox games were 640x480, so it was also just lower res.

Anyone have a guess as to why yuzu crashes whenever I use someone else's save of bayonetta 3 but mine works just fine?
>>
>>501160520
Never emulated switch so take my advice with a grain of salt.
That save you found could be fingerprinted/encrypted with different account/profile data compared to yours, maybe there's a save converter. Also could've been made from an updated version that the unupdated rom can't read, a later system firmware, a different language/region version of the game, or just a bad dump.

So after testing all my PS2 games i have downloaded with the new LRPS2 core, this new core present 2 new problems at random:
>Some games that worked fine have graphic corruption.
>Some games that sounded fine now have sound problems.
>A combination of the two.
Of course this is not all the games the majority actually works fine and look great using shaders and supersampling.
Radiata Stories didn't work with this core, i just get a black screen when i try to boot the game, every other game booted and can be played even with these problems so i imagine this is something that they are aware and are working to fix.
And using Vulkan as the video driver i can restart and change games normally on Retroarch without crashes like it was with the older core.

The input latency aspect of Mister is nice, but I'm not going to pretend the rest isn't snake oil.
Ultimately it's pretty much a plug and play system that has god-tier latency on modern displays and I know I won't have to tinker with settings.

Beyond building a dedicated emulation rig that would cost more, it's just nice to have plugged into the living room TV when I want some retro on a large screen.

For what the Mister emulates and costs, you can build a brand-new PC without a discrete GPU and have the same results. Choose a small case and put it in your living room. Without a CRT, the Mister is as good as any properly configured PC regarding input lag, because the bottleneck will be the modern screen, not the system used.

>>501331420
Normally, doubling the speed would be stupid, but it doesn't seem like that in Kirby 64. It's not about framerate (which can be easily improved in Mupen64), it's about the actual speed: everything would drag even in 240fps. That's somewhat insane, because Dream Land 3 was already walking on thin ice, and the sequel doubles down on it for no reason at all.
>>
>>501341092
>easily improved in Mupen
Not in this game. I haven't seen a patch or general overclock setting that makes Kirby64 60fps. With a minor lag penalty LSFG will do it though. Myrient has a widescreen ROM that you can apply all these tweaks on, and you get these
>>501338801
results.
>>
Kirby64 is such a dull-ass game but damn is it ever a work of low-poly art. I like how alien some of the levels are, and that fizzly-pixel effect (that scales up with resolution) it uses on certain surfaces like sand and things phasing in and out.
>>

>>
>>501347642
I see. Thanks for telling. I tried the game again, but I'm kinda struggling to have fun. The pacing is poor, and the devs still thought it was a good idea to hunt for three crystals each level. Dream Land 3 at least had only one chore per level.

>>
>>501360584
In the worthless pursuit for an "accurate" emulation of a failed console, the dev refuses to have an overclock option that fixes framerates on many Saturn games. Also, having to create a fucking .BAT file just to make running games on it slightly less unbearable is very insane - having both the game's folder and the emulator's EXE folder open to drag one onto the other is like buying a modern car that needs a hand-crank to get the engine running. What mental illness permeates the minds of these people?
>>
>>501362559
I imagine something gives with overclocking the system as none of the good emulators for it can do it. MAME can OC any of the chips but it's a shitty Saturn emu.

There's a guy working on software FPU (soft float) that could potentially fix a lot of bugs resulting from the PCSX2 recompilers, Driver could finally work, and games that aren't completely fixed with rounding and clamping options, or games with patches might not need them anymore.

Discussion is only in the PCSX2 discord server right now and he's still working in another repo (commits prefixed with Ps2Float). https://github.com/GitHubProUser67/MultiServer3/commits/main/

>>
>>501505735
>PCSX2 right
What happened again, did they replace software mode with parralei?
>>
>>501507164
It's an option in a built floating around. There are no plans for LLE to replace software, it's way heavier on average and has a few of its own issues. The issue is FSR's baked in, even at 1x so everything's all ZSNES 2xsai'd up, for better or worse. LRPS2's version of the renderer doesn't have that. It's early days yet, and both LRPS2 (missing almost all the options since LLE was added) and PCSX2-LLE will be ironed out surely. Just hope the people who can fix it know about FSR being shitty, at least as a mandate.
>>
>>501500284
Each site, each username, each password. Rule of thumb.
>>
>>501504731
Sony? Their controllers die in like, a year and you have to solder in a new potentiometer. 8BitDo has the Hall Effect ones which doesn't wear out as fast. I've had mine for 4 years and no stick drift, whereas my PS5 controller developed stick drift in like, 10 months.
>>
>>501508589
Not saying you're wrong but hasn't been an issue on my DS3, DS4s or my DS5. That and DS4Win is just better software than we deserve. So much great functionality built in. The only big brand controllers to give me drift are Xbox ones. One and 360. As for 8bitdo I've had a controller just refuse to charge and had to throw it away, and an arcade stick I still use but needed a FW update to work at all, was nearly about to call it DOA.
>>
>>501507515
Well, at least on the RetroArch end, I'm sure it will be made optional. For all of libretro's faults, one thing they have almost always been consistently good about is offering you every option under the sun, for better or worse.

>>501509696
*THING
>>
>>501509696
Yeah, of course, just saying that the FSR shit will probably be optional there rather than forced. I'd be surprised if resolution options aren't made available as well later on. I think the reason they're forced in the PCSX2 version is because Themaister more or less made it as a proof-of-concept thing primarily, with his preferences turned on, not expecting very many to really use it beyond general testing. Now that it's being integrated into LRPS2, though, it's pretty clear that's taking priority, much like how ParaLLEl-RDP first made its open debut in the ParaLLEl N64 core.
>>
I've seen cores with redemption arcs anyway. DOSbox(Pure), VICE, and WinUAE are in great shape now. Arguably the definitive way to play each of those. Were all mad shitty years ago though. WinUAE was just wtf tier.

DJBox passes some kind of insane encryption and can boot normally but is extremely slow in the hardware renderer, Star Ocean 3 boots without the old Tri-Ace hack, and Ratchet turrets work without the dynamic patching from the PCSX2 game database.

I'm guessing this SoftFPU thing is going to raise system requirements quite a bit, yes?

I don't think anyone knows at this point, and it could be game dependent, it's likely it will only be enabled for games that absolutely need it. The tests with Ratchet barely showed any change in performance, the dev is using a 9900k. DJbox is spamming something vulkan related in the console which is likely the problem there.

Emubros, does any of you know if the CPU/GPU usage metrics on PCSX2 are related to my PC or to the virtual machine? I'm getting some FPS dips, but the usage of all threads is below 50%...
>>
>>501574834
EE%, GS%, VU% are the VM but run on your CPU cores/threads, they will change depending on what the game is doing and how capable your CPU is. GPU% will change primarily with internal resolution multiplier. You could still be low on %'s and it could be something like readbacks which stall the CPU. If you are getting short dips below 100% speed it could be storage sleeping and waking between reads.
>>
>>501574834
If speed % is below 100%, it's your PC.
>>
>>501576209
AMD GPUs don't tolerate high barrier counts either (Nvidia doesn't give a shit for some reason???). Readbacks are abbreviated as RB, and barriers are B with the Show Statistics OSD setting. You can reduce barriers by lowering blending level, and readbacks can be disabled in advanced settings through the Hardware Download Mode option (this WILL break graphics in some form). Usually the best solution is just to get better hardware, some games can just be a bitch.

The "next-gen" version has all the same songs plus more (for now, until Rockstar doesn't feel like paying for them any more). Really a great game. Stood the test of time. Curiously, emulators still have glitches with this game, when emulated with HLE (at least the last time I tested); some bigger polygons' joints aren't seamless, like the "world" is falling apart. Happens even on native resolution. LLE fix this.
>>
Linuxbros, just a quick tip: if a resulator comes in multiple packages, prefer appimage over flatpak or snap. Although the last two have been improving recently, there's still a performance penalty. It's not that bad, even Steam flatpak works fine, but native or appimage still have better performance and fewer issues, especially if your distro's software stack isn't old (any current Ubuntu LTS is fine).

Nintendo isn't going after people for just emulating.
They've only targeted emulators for current gen systems, not older ones.
Why would buying an emulator device be less likely to get you in trouble than downloading a free emulator?
Some cheap shit off temu isn't running PS2/GC well, let alone PS3 at all.
No emulator device like that would come with 5th gen or above games pre-installed (at least more than a few), they're way too big to fit the whole library.

That's how it always should have been.
As much as I'm fond of older consoles it's clear that they were becoming underpowered vs PC especially after the HD era started, consoles were just holding back the games with poor framerates and resolution. So title exclusivity had no reason to exist.
And in fact looking back I once again realize Sega were the less toxic about fake console exclusivity because they were already making PC ports back then even while their own consoles were sold on the market, actually just porting their games on PC pretty fast after the console launch and there was a lot of such ports.

It'll run it about as well as anything at native. You gotta keep in mind that even with beast PCs some games will run like trash or be unplayably janky. RDR and GOW3 will be CPU benchmarks for years, and Ryu's shader comp is real gnarly in some games and both Switch emus just crash here and there.

So, these new batch of Parallel-GS seem a little "sharper" around the corner.
Steambot Chronicles performance improved greatly since my last test. The base game now run full speed at 4x4 and have just some slight drop at 8x8... My GPU is melting though. The sepia filter of the tutorial still destroy the framerate, but, less, we now have at least double digits now. These Irem guy do some really weird shit with their post-process effect.

In fact, you can't even turn it off, every option is just a different field order. Using a no interlacing patch just cuts vertical resolution and you still get deinterlacing nastiness.

>>501748403
Haven't tried the latest anon build but both LRPS2 and the last anon one I tried didn't seem to have any sort of interlacing fixes available in ParallelGS. The usual bob-weave generic modes in the options, nor the 3rd party patches, seem to do anything. The PS2 is such a piece of shit and we definitely need them. I just want the effects and polygons where they're supposed to be. I can do without PS2's jew CRT tricks.

Does anyone know how Duckstation's savestate-on-exit work? I usually just close the emulator after saving the game while it's still running instead of going to File -> Power Off like a nerd, but when I boot it up again and run the same game and it asks if I want to load the savestate it made when I closed it, it loads a completely random savestate. >The PS2 is such a piece of shit
I'd love to disagree, but it's becoming harder. Hype does wonders, I was nuts about the PS1 and PS2 in their heyday, everything else was secondary. The PS3 came later and the spell was broken. For a while, I thought it was its fault, but the latest years made me feel like Sony's efforts weren't flawless and I grew closer to Sega's and Nintendo's offerings for the 5th and 6th gen. Don't get me wrong, those two generations were filled to the brim with crap from all sides (4th gen was way better), but Nintendo and Sega did have several fun gems under their belt, more than your average cinematography gaming experience Sony endorsed so much.

Just get the cheapest HDD you can at the size you want (you're looking at 50TB for a complete 1-6th gen collection btw), and then get another one. Redundancy will triumph any brand's reliability.

I fixed the LRPS2 analog sticks, you're welcome.

PCSX2 sets sensitivity to 133% by default, LRPS2 didn't so you would get issues like characters walking instead of running when the stick is fully pressed in some games (Rule of Rose).

I spent days/hours trying to figure this out, I'm not a "real" programmer.

Next I'm gonna try to hook up the pressure sensitive face button modifier, but I might not be able to.

For the like 4 games that use it, Silent Hill 2/3, Star Ocean Till the End of Time, MGS 2/3, and the scrimblo bimblo platformers (Jak, Sly Cooper, Ratchet).

>Quick Rpcs3 question: I'm emulating SSX 2012 and in a normal ps3 there's a way to customize the music in the game by using mp3 files that are on the console. Where do I put my music files in the emulator for it to detect it as "on the console" for the game, if it's even possible?
I don't know if it works on SSX, but the wipeout section on the compatibility list has info about it. https://wiki.rpcs3.net/index.php?title=WipEout_HD

>This game supports custom music playlists; to use this feature create a "music" folder in dev_hdd0 and then create a folder within "music" containing your music files of choice (tested with .mp3 format files). To use this playlist in game select it in Options > Audio > Music Playlist.

I know that the Xenia dev try to implement that. But I don't knox if this feature exist in RPCS3. If it is though, then it must be put somewhere on the HDD folder.
