Unity will apply some scaling to the armature and meshes when imported into a scene, and can get very unhappy if the fbx is replaced with one that was exported at a different scale.Select the fbx in your assets, go to the rig tab, hit configure, and then muscle & settings. Play with Open Close a bit. Does everything look fine?In a pinch, you can actually use the armature from your working fbx, and only use the modified mesh from your new fbx. Add your old working fbx to the scene, find the mesh's skinned mesh renderer, and click the circle to the right of the Mesh field. Search for the name of your mesh and click it. You can click back and forth between the meshes and the scene will update on the fly. If the rigs are different this will break things (pictured: I rotated the legs), and sometimes unity just chokes while you're selecting things and won't update until you close the search window.
