You get 4 attacks per turn and they all benefit from SS, making it insane. You also get Battlemaster's manouvers, Rogue's mobility and all that jazz. The downside is that the best hand crossbows in the game are just a +2 with irrelevant upsides and a plain +2.Do whatever you want, they all work. Just make sure to pick Sharpshooter, not picking it up it's the only way to fucking it up.

As for Astarion, you don't seem to understand what I'm saying. Tav and Ascendstarion's relationship is consensual. Tav has to manipulate the entire thing, and the choice is theirs regarding whether Astarion ascends or not. Tav has to allow him to do it, or else he cannot. Which means Tav is orchestrating events the entire time, including their "enslavement". It's a fetish. Tav is fetishizing Astarion in this scenario. They think it's hot if he's a vampire, and they think it's hot if they become his slave. So they make it happen, when they had the option at all times to stop it. Hell, it's not even a matter of not taking a chance yo stop it, you have to actually go through effort to have it happen. Which means it's not only consensual, but it's actually orchestrated by Tav. It's not the player being treated like a toy, Tav does that to Astarion first. That's what the author in the original screenshot is saying, and what you seem to be misunderstanding.There's nothing dubious about consensual slave play, but there IS something dubious about Tav orchestrating events that are bad for Astarion's soul so that she can get her rocks off to his Ascended behavior. Tav is the bad one in this scenario, Ascendstarion has been manipulated. She is able to discard that so quickly because it was never real to begin with, more hope that the abuse would end than a real amibition. Even if that isn’t the case, a life as a Dark Justiciar is an incompatible future with a life she might lead with her present companions and she feels drawn to and safe with you, you make her feel good. it’s why she throws the spear, she doesn’t want it to end. Gifting the flower is shocking partly because she’s never experienced anything like it and partly because she’s never been really given anything. It’s mostly a gesture but she’s impressed because it is innocent and heartfelt. One second she’s passing through the Shadowcurse and ruminating on the fate of mortalkind come Shar and how that’s a good thing because moral corruption and decadence and the next she’s being handed a tiny flower found growing out there, somehow, because “they’re your favorite.” It forces her to confront her own innocence and the fact that maybe the Shadowcurse is the true evil, actually, which of course she knew all along

Hello bggI'm going to do an evil (or I guess chaotic good?) playthrough. I don't really want to go full murderhobo. Can I still be like.. be friendly with a lot of people but make the objectively bad choices, like attacking the grove? What I'm trying to say is can I go to the grove, be nice to everyone (at least for when it counts to get some sort of quest or progression) and then kill them later with the goblins, or should I go into the grove and start smacking people around and insult everyone. Idk how much of the game it ruins. A lot of people just stop talking to you the moment you're a dick right? Evil runs are very much outside my comfort level but I don't want to be good at all times, taking the first dialogue choice everyone like I'm playing Mass Effect.I don't like the idea of killing off the whole grove, but I want to be bad and I want Minthara. Minthara can be recruited regardless, active the non-lethal passive before attacking her(do it before entering dialogue) and down her with a melee attack, she will appear later at Moonrise and give you an opportunity for recruitment. She tricks both the player character and the player, until a reveal later in the game where she takes the artifact from you and delivers it to Viconia, and there's a mission to get it back and it's really tough. When you fight through the Sharran cloister, Viconia is the last boss, and when you defeat her, you go in the last room and Shart is there with the artifact. You have a choice to try to reason with her or attack her. If you try to talk to her, she takes the opportunity to stab you in a cutscene, and you begin the fight with 60% of your hp missing.This scenario could also have been done with anyone really, the game would have been better if one or more of the companions did something like this if you pissed them off. You have to wait all the way to the end of the game for Wyll, Jaheira, and Minsc to say "wait a minute....you're evil!" and actually oppose you, even if you're made every diabolical and pointlessly evil choice through the entire game. Kudos that they at least had these three oppose you eventually, but it was too little too late.The game should have featured betrayal from the party. Whoever is your lowest affinity party member should try to steal the artifact from you. bg3 may be game of the decade, but one of the areas where the previous games are just straight up better is the intra-party conflict. Nobody gives a shit if Astarion ascends, not even the monster hunter who is in the party. Nobody gives a shit if Shart joins Shar, not even the druid who's life was ruined by the Shadowcurse. Nobody gives a shit if you mutilate a tiefling in camp, not even the people who want to protect the teiflings. Etc, etc, etc. Everyone being your loyal little army regardless of what you actually do gets old.

What makes Shadowheart interesting is that she can either become fully Sharran and dark or reach for the relative light of neutrality, and that this decision happens halfway through the story, making it committal. She is someone who has a choice. The player also has agency in how they influence the character.A companion betraying the player, or forcing their hand, in the latter half of the final act is not really interesting, especially not once the novelty of the first time has worn off. Trust - reluctant and shaky at first, needing to be earned - is one of the main themes of the game and having a designated Sharran traitor who lied to you since day 1 would not sit well. This would make Shadowheart have less depth than the squid, another character that tries to manipulate you from the start. I do agree there should have been more possible conflict within the group, but betrayal is a poor way to materialize that.

Every single companion having a sprinkling of triggers throughout the game that lead to them betraying you would improve the game, and Shart should be one of the frontrunners of this system, given that she's supposed to be a Sharran secret agent. If you select the right choices then she can do her spaghetti spilling and alignment shift but if you don't, she betrays you. This applies to everyone.
