It has a fuck ton of legacy content that is integrated into the game and there are so many things to do. Path of Exile 2 is almost if Path of Exile (Diablo) and Elden Ring had a baby or something. The combat is much more action focused with dodge rolls and active blocks, but it is supposed to still have a similar level of build autism. I think that playing the first will help you understand some of the base/core systems (Skill/Support gems, how to generally gear a character, passive tree, etc) but you and everyone else will be learning a lot with the new game.
