We all saw the same video.Whenever footage rolled of the gameplay, 7/10 times showing off mechanics it was using the shotgun character. They practically glossed over warrior/melee as promptly as they could. Go on, watch the timestamps. Most of the footage is mercenary. This is what WASD was added for. They've done showcases for crossbows twice now over the years, Swords? Never. Not even once, not even 2 seconds of sword skill/gameplay footage even slapped in as b roll even exists after 6 years.You have to be completely head in the sand all the way to china and up Tencent's ass to believe melee has received the same treatment as ranged in this game. Making ranged skills is easy, you just send the VFX guys a bill for spawning particles. Making good melee requires actual work, animation and combat game prowess. GGG doesn't have this, they are doing what they know and what is safe. When you do finally see swords, it's highly unlikely you'll actually hit enemies with them, you'll shoot lasers/fire/wind from them.Then you have the classic developer problem warning signs like 2 of the founders literally leaving during development, this is never good.Monk will be the only useable melee class, because it's adjacent to the dex/strdex stuff with access to projectiles and you might be able to hit stuff with stick/bell + swap to crossbow. That will be the best possible outcome of any and all melee potential in the game. No amount of two handed weapons and warcry this or that will compete.
