It subconsciously gives off a more submissive impression. He no longer looks so scary and unapproachable. Also, it has been lost over time, but originally, Shadow was always on high places with the angle below him. His back is swayed and his posture is perfect. So when he looks down at the viewer from his perch above them, his striking red gaze looking straight into your soul, you can see feel he is superior to you simply through his body language. That element of him being on a high place with the angle below him was really important because it gives you this subconscious feeling that you are beneath him.
