Do you like Tekken? I've been a big fighting game fan ever since the release of their seventh main game, Tekken 7. Before that, I really didn't understand fighting games. Too fast paced, too technical. It was on Tekken 7 where Michael Murray's presence became more apparent. I think the new core systems in 7 were the Tekken team's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on casualization. At the same time, it still keeps the core gameplay intact. Look at the brilliant design choices like rage mechanics and wall bounces. You can practically see every nuance of every design decision. In terms of balancing, the sheer game design, this game hits a new peak of professionalism. Take for example the movement nerfs. With this, Murray addresses the problems of more experienced opponents nullifying mixups with advanced movement patterns and game knowledge. Now you more often than not are forced to take a guess or gamble with a riskier option like an evasive move or a powercrush. The change is extremely welcome. Also just adding tracking to everything and giving a usable backdash to only a select few characters is brilliant. Tekken under Murray's direction seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially characters like Akuma and Geese that 6 million people enjoyed. But I also think Michael Murray works best in tandem with Harada, than as a solo director, and I stress the word director. This is Xiaoyu, a great great Tekken character, a personal favorite.

His streams were haphazardly centered around cherrypicking opponents in ranked (MainMan barely knew the basics of matchups) and for his personality, he kept repeating couple of supposedly funny and ironic catchphrases such as "masku" and "eeish". There wouldn't have been much success if it weren't for the competent editors turning his cringeworthy streams to passable highlight videos for Youtube. it is factual that stance characters are easier than other characters. if you think shit like ling, hwoarang etc. are "hard" to win on, you're retarded. you have a massive advantage in knowledge compared to the average person you're facing. sure, when someone breaks down the matchup at higher levels it may be more difficult for you to flowchart and fraud your way to a win, but overall, those characters carry the shit out of players. especially ones with huge evasion like ling.

Like others have said, the game is boring to watch. In their effort to manufacture an aggressive and "hype" game for viewers they created something that is bland and predictable. All the forced coinflip interactions means there are less moments where you say "damn they actually outplayed their opponent there" or "wow I've never seen that option before" and more where you say "dang they guessed right/wrong there".This is what they wanted. This is T8 and its honestly trash. And they wont take any seriously looks at the things degrading the viewing and playing experience(Heat, Chip, forced coinflip strings and situations, characters without clear weaknesses) because they for some reason think that's what the player base wants. Even if it was, they've done a horrible job implementing their vision.SF6, even though it also leans into the aggression/ease of use philosophy, is implemented so much better and still allows for defensive outplay and thinking because the Drive Gauge depletes and has weaknesses. There's more of a back and forth in SF6 because of that, where the back and forth that was poking and spacing in previous Tekkens is completely superseded by the new Heat and Chip mechanics since there's no real weakness or downside to them.Game has a lot riding on what they do system/balance wise for Season 2.

Haven't played the game in awhile and the first few games back I was almost fooled. Then I got sent the never ending sea of people who can't run the game and 4f rollback (even took a wifi like this).
I played vs a Kazuya that did nothing but sit back and press df2 between my jabs/df1 and low pokes. Then my adaptation to this low form of Tekken was to just interchangeably spam df1 and jab so it would interrupt his df2. I couldn’t step the df2 because it’s homing and I don’t have a fast ch so my best option was run to him and spam df1 and jabs at ramdom. It worked and he got clipped by 8 df1 and I won a game. The issue was that he had high empathy so in the next game he interrupted between my df1 and my jabs with his own jabsThis was a mathematical problem becauseJab into df1 is beaten by jabs and df1 into jab is beaten by jabsSo I decided to add to my moves Lili db3 to crush jabs and get a KND or Ch launch . So the only three moves I could use were df1 jabs and the occasional db3 to crush his jabs. The issue was the guy had high empathy and his df2 started ch launching whenever I decided to db3 so I lost the game.

I hate cinematic supers and I dont mean just rage arts in Tekken I mean lvl3s in SF6 and other games too, Ironically heat smashes are more like how supers used to be just a quick special attack sometimes with special properties, I fucking hate sitting through cinematic supers so much, Its cool the first couple of times but when you regularly play these games it just makes your eyes roll how the game has now stopped and you are just watching, this time really fucking adds up, all that just so jimmy john who plays this shit maybe once a week or once period gets to see something cool, I wish we could go back to supers just being quick and not cinematic, remove rage arts but I guess leave heat smashes so we have our "supers"
