I have been using the Wrangler a lot lately and I have been enjoying it.
I killed a pocketed pyro and his medic, a scout and a heavy on mercenary park with a wrangled mini -- possibly more than that.

I usually use it when I'm play alone without a kritz med. It kind of sucks in direct combat but it's amazing to set up a few layered traps to fall back into while sniping people with loch n load's increased range. My only problem with it so far is that it really doesn't pair well with a medic ubering you for example since you can't really can't do as much with a uber as you could with stock stickies.

Also started using steam record to capture funny clips. It's really nice to be able to clip the last 10 seconds or so and doesn't really have a performance impact.

Has anyone else recently acquired the feeling that the "we want more content" thing might be one of those grass-is-greener situations?

I was thinking about old games and franchises(Fallout, Halo, etc) that were a big part of my childhood + early adulthood gaming experience. I came to the realization that they were all ongoing with new game releases and spinoffs into other forms of media, but they all ended up being shittier and shittier. Some like Fallout got a new game that was mega bugged, mega monetized and crammed full of microtransactions. Each iteration of Halo is more triple-A "more graphical fidelity WAHOO! btw the gameplay got messier but who cares" with a completely bizarre TV show adaptation that merely uses the franchise name but is otherwise almost unrecognizable. I'm just giving some big examples but some smaller nobody games I used to dabble in like RotMG which kept being worked on by the devs are all pumped full of psychology shit like FOMO, season passes, fake discounts etc.

Valve isn't immune to this enshittification either, they made CSGO into CS2 for no real benefits other than le triple-A graphics meme and some cool smoke physics, while it's universally agreed the game got less responsive and performance worse.

This is almost verging on blogpost territory but I was feeling nostalgic and retrospective because I was staying in my old childhood bedroom at my parents' place during Christmas + had some nice brandy so I'm sorry for rambling. Basically my point is I feel like if the bot crisis lasting 5 fucking years hadn't pushed things, we might see Valve not touching TF2 except for cosmetics as a blessing since it kept us from all this highly optimized, MBA, consultants-were-consulted, vidyagem reward trophy-chasing shit going on. Yeah it has lootboxes but we don't have season passes, or a TF3 that ruins performance and breaks rocketjumping but improves only graphics, or some shit like that.

I think it's the result of the game regularly recieving balance and themed content updates for 10 years, then that ceasing all of a sudden rather than a gradual deceleration. The game could use at least some balance changes made to buff weaker weapons and tone down stronger ones that usurp the position of stock, but adding new weapons into the game could open a can of worms they don't want to bother with.

I believe CS2 was a response to Valorant's increasing popularity, but the two target different markets despite mostly being the same game. I also believe that Valve is one of the better video game giants due to being privately owned even if they are slowly being poisoned by consultants, recent game dev or Cal-Arts graduates etc.

The difference between the franchises you mentioned and TF2 is that TF2 content continues to be piled onto the single game, permanantly changing it outside of weapon revert servers, while with the other franchises you can just play the old version. Especially in the case of single player games and even moreso when they have a cult following or dedicated modding community as is common with Bethesda titles. It's sad that we games are releasing faster than ever, the number of genuinely good titles released every year is no greater than it was circa 2000.

It's still an alright game, but a lot of the changes are baffling at best.

If you let dota devs touch TF2, rocket jumping would have a 5 second cooldown, Spy would lose backstabs and gain some unfun support garbage like seeing sentries through walls, and all of Demo's stickybomb launchers would be just straight up removed and you would be forced to equip the shield. Game would also run worse for no reason.

is there any way to get the disguise kit to use my actual slot bindings instead of the number keys? i use weird weapon switch binds (scroll up slot1, scroll down slot2, mouse4 slot3) and it would be way quicker to use those instead of reaching for the numbers. the way i'd like to use the concise menu would be to scroll up twice for scout, up then mouse4 for pyro etc.
i know you could set up an alias with a modifier key but that wouldnt work like the concise menu and i dont wanna be reaching across my keyboard to disguise as sniper
