I’m still not convinced there isn’t a way to make it out of the origin with everds chest armor. A dwarf commoner start would be really cool, because we will get a free rank in stealing. With Everds armor, this might be better than the +1 cunning bonus that the human origin gets. So the wiki does discuss a way to keep everds gloves, but in my testing, it doesn’t even work. Which means there’s something going on there. Everds chest piece would be Morrigans best in slot combat armor, providing a huge amount of mana regen. More than any other chest armor in the game by a lot. I can’t think of any glitches to use to keep the armor. Map glitching definitely won’t work, we have to actually talk to the guard while wearing the armor. And complete the proving with it on. And it gets removed during the mandatory cutscene. The game really feels like it’s pushing a dwarf commoner origin on us, but I just can’t make it work. It’s not even the third best origin.

Rogue will out dps a DPS war early game due to backstabs always being a critical hit. But dps war will outperform in the end when we have access to death hex. Rogue also will get level 4 stealing much earlier than a war. However on enemies with flanking immunity, dps war will win out due to having a higher attack speed (with this setup we don’t get .5 AS unless we pot). In summary, we get the level 5 DPS dwarf, and bench him until way later. DPS war needs its double specialization and also access to end game armor and weapons with high level requirements to reach its full potential. It comes online around level 14 depending on how we build morrigan and whether or not we’ve purchased all the tomes of arcane technique yet.

I don’t dislike allocating attribute points into the wisdom/willpower stat. Weirdly there’s no reason to ever take even 1 point here on any character in origins. If it influenced mana regen instead of mana, or if classes had more sustained talents, it would change things. I lied it does have one use, death blow shale. It does seem to scale better than strength for the skill. But the damage is probably still kinda low. When I saw that skill it reminded me of monk from RO and thought it might be kinda cool.

Not a matter of quality or personal preference, but which Obsidian games were not a success? To be clear, I don't mean a breakout hit, I just mean did well enough in the longterm to clear costs and make a tidy profit. Besides the "slop period" games that came out right after PoE, it seems like the only ones might be Alpha Protocol and Dungeon Siege 3? And if you run it on normal or even hard difficulty then it actually takes some planning to succeed, so there is some depth to it. Artisans are hit or miss. Sometimes you dont need what they bring, sometimes you get lucky and you get an item you are going to use until the Pitax palace. But I like getting presents either way.
