I have now finished reading Canto 6. I hated every minute of it. I hated how much PM terminology and aspects were involved in telling the story because it made it utterly nonsensical (akin to Canto 4). Character motivations did not make much sense to me because I found character exploration to be lacking; we barely got anything about Heath and Cathy’s life in the house before Heath left. We got maybe one scene where Cathy was curious about the human-shaped piece of trash her father brought home but we didn’t really see how their relationship developed at all, not with Cathy and not with the others either. How am I meant to get invested in what is happening if they didn’t spend some time showing us what Heath went through? This was clearly a case of telling us rather than showing us, and the story massively suffers as a result. What then plays out is some of the most melodramatic bullshit I have ever experienced; the writers don’t care about good, consistent, logical writing and story, they merely care about the story having “peak” moments because that seems to be what the audience desires from Limbus Company. That’s perfectly fine, I don’t have to be the target audience of every story.I probably should have stopped reading after Canto 5, as I initially said I would. I definitely have no desire to read Canto 7 given that even PM/Limbus fans have issues with that Canto for whatever reason. I guess my Limbus journey comes to an end here. The story has been massively overhyped—like all gacha stories. If I had to rank the Cantos I’ve read, I’d rate them as follows:5>4=3>6=1>2I don’t think that Canto 5 is great either as it has some pretty big flaws but it’s the most straightforward Canto that involves the least amount of PM-verse nonsense to explain. 4 and 3 had potential but it suffers much like 6 does for the lack of character exploration.
