To learn shaders "properly", you need to first learn convolution. The simplest practical form of that is a filter on a one dimensional signal, such as sound. Shaders are higher-dimensional filter programs on things like vertexes and fragments aka pixels.

The best way to find a collab is to go get a job at a real studio. Talk to and hang out with your coworkers. At the end of a project, see if you can't convince those coworkers to leave to start your own studio together. Internet collabs cannot work out because people willing to collab are simply not skilled and experienced enough, and even if they are skilled, they will be quickly demoralized from having to babysit all those who aren't.

if you have a high-ish IQ (130, so you're smart but not super duper smart), then enroll in college as a math major and start taking LSD once per week, especially while studying maths.

Drop out of college, take one year of sobriety to get your brain back in order, get a job doing cybersecurity at a bank, then quit that job... get hired at a bar as the bartender, and then spend the next 5 years writing shaders to look like a painting.

Plus talking to women in general is not my strong skill, actually talking to people at all isn't my skill.
I just want to sit/stand in my room and paint and read and work on my game. Why can't they just understand I'm a very simple person.

hmm interesting. I suppose many anime also have a kind of mixed style where they have like waterpainting for the background with animation cells for characters. there are so many choices when it comes to NPR graphics pipeline.

like I remember i saw some shader setup where they had 2 diffuse textures on the model and then they would use the shader to use step() on the lighting like reduce it to a binary lit/unlit and use that to choose which of the textures to sample. I suppose if both textures have the same dimension and unwrapping you could reuse UV1 for both. and then they just hand-paint the lighting and detail and even some of the lines on the texture and the lighting was just unmasking one texture over the other so they had full control of the look including the difference in lighting at the level of photoshopping the textures, with anime style 2-level lighting. I thought that was pretty unique. that was for a very heavily stylized game like each still looked like a line art drawing.

All the good game animation, vfx, stylized environment asset courses taught by pros use unreal. I'm almost done with my Unity tutorial, and now I'm worried I won't be able to follow them. I like designing levels with something like hammer but designing levels for Unreal is awful. Nu-level design tools still suck ass. A steam friend asked to see "my game", and I sort of stammered on about how it's "sort of" my game... which greatly confused him. He inquired about my development partners--of which I have none--which further confused him. Now he thinks me retarded, which is fair.

I struggle to claim a game is "mine" when "my game" is coded with the help of tutorials from all over the net (without which, I wouldn't have a game), written in someone else's language, on someone else's engine, using characters/themes/assets derived from/inspired by existing works/archetypes (it's basically unavoidable unless you make something absurd like non-reproducing purple cloud-beings who carve masks of moisture to update their expressions).
What I'm getting at--essentially--is how does one acknowledge standing on the shoulders of giants while still proudly slapping their name on the game and saying "this is my game."? And does this impostor feeling ever dissappear?

In a tab-target MMO-like, let's say that I make harvestable resources like mining, herb, and woodcutting nodes targetable like an NPC, and instead of a simple click-to-harvest, you use abilities from an ability bar in order to "do damage" to the node to harvest. Different kinds of nodes will respond differently to different abilities. For example, attacking a herb node will just destroy it, while attacking a mining node with normal attack abilities will largely do no damage.
