It's obvious he's just wired so differently(and this isn't an insult or a bad thing at all, most people would probably love to have that kind of cognitive stamina and reward structure), that he just can't relate to the fact that part of what people loved about poe1 was doing Ledge-like type of shit over and over again as a way to relax after work or school or whatever. Malestrom of Chaos wasn't a coincidence(I don't think anyway, Chris has always acknowledged the idea of a relaxing low stakes grind being something he recognized a lot of people loved).

Funnily enough, the Rake + Spear Field does a pretty good job achieving the kind of gameplay that GGG wants. And it does so without hard-coded synergies or convoluted charge mechanics.Rake: Good at single target, and taking down small clumped groups. Bad at dealing with fast melee swarms.Spear Field: Really good at slowing down and taking out melee monsters. Terrible at everything else.Blood Hunt: quickly execute any stragglersHow this works in practice is you lay down spear fields to take care of melee monsters and then you zip around killing all the ranged stuff and bloodhunting everything at low life. Some of the best gameplay I've experienced in an ARPG.It could be optimized into a one button clear, I'm sure, but I'm in no rush to.

I died to the fucking tornado bird in chaos trials for the last time. Doom rings, heart feathers, faster monster speed, energy shield. Fuck it. I’m over it. Made it to 89 and probably 8 div worth of gear, I’m out. You never feel like you make any progress. Every time you think you’ve finally broken through, you get randomly one shot. The only way to play this fucking game is to be hyper cautious and slow, but that’s kind of unenjoayable when monsters sprint at you and get to you immediately. You do zero fucking damage without heavy tuning and investment, and even then, the monsters are stronger and faster. To enjoy this thrilling gaming experience, you get the privilege of running maps that take 20-30 minutes that drop you 0-3 ex per run. Great stuff really, not a total fucking waste of time at all. If this is supposed to be the season of buffs we need about 3,000 of them in the next week or as far as I’m concerned this game is dead trash.

Reflect totem anon here. Just finished the campaign on my second character and got my Pragmatism Beira's Anguish build going, surprisingly a small group of Chinese players seemed to have gotten the jump on the build. Thankfully I got in before the supply of Alpha's Howl got too low and the item became too expensive.Basically the build ignites everything in your presence for 500% of your life whenever you get ignited through Beira's Anguish. You self-ignite when you crit using Eye of Winter for its high hit rate and decent range on Infernalist (the charm then making you immune to the self-ignite) and then you scale presence area of effect using Alpha's Howl (double presence aoe) and some nodes on the tree so it's basically a screen and a half sized. Blackflame is a cheap way to get a bunch of ignite magnitude. This is just a proof of concept on a tier 1, just so I know what it felt like, and it was smooth as butter. I can easily hit 3k life and haven't taken advantage of any auras or blasphemy setups, wither, weapon swap, etc.

I haven't tested it yet but it really shouldn't work that way and if it does, that part is probably getting nerfed/fixed. It wouldn't be a huge damage loss if it was. They also all copied each other's trees and it seems way inefficient to me, my tree mostly focuses on getting jewel sockets (>20% ignite magnitude on jewels + 3 ruby grand spectrums)
