Playing first time and never touching mods for several weeks of playtime it is indeed a good game, it is solid on mechanics and gameplay loop part which is most important qualifier. Okay I think I shoved everything I need except a church into this little box. I think I am going to need to make new gear before I get power armor unfortunately, but I don't think I will be going to flak gear, I am still <50k wealth. be the change you want to be and start making some textures
thankfully retexturing those bikinis to fit skinny or hulk body is fairly easy
or you can commission someone to do it if you got money to give away
the faster you learn to edit mods to your liking the faster this frustration becomes a non issue. I've been there.

Thank you. I like to think I'm doing right by her. She has the wonderlust trait so it'd be cool to let her go on caravans more but the last year on the colony has been absolute hell. With the long night, than the volcanic winter that is still going on, and the army of ghouls. I miss when it was just weird cat girl cultists, now it's just been ghouls.
She has probably one of the better rooms in the colony at the moment. Should probably get a chair though.

Crypto Arsenal is finished but no CE yet because CE needs to patch the Frost Fire Effect in the main mod. You can use it without VE Crypto Forge but the weapons won't have the Frost Fire effect instead they will deal part of damage as Frostbite

Why Yes I am Terrible At Base Building, How Could You Tell?

I dont know what to build or how to expand. I keep having my thoughts interrupted by raids.
I still don't have turrets unlocked after 3 years. No steel, 6k wood. The royal room has been under construction for 2 years, they still haven't laid the floor tiles due to constant interruptions.
Our best medic died to infection, which she got while she was away from base in a caravan.
I have basically no pawns with dedicated roles, they all have a spread of skills , which ends up with them not getting anything done

One bad fire and half of your base disappears, when you first start it's a good idea to focus hauling and cutting stone chunks and build walls purely out of materials that aren't flammable

You aren't. They are free power so it's very difficult to grab them. In theory you can carefully throw grenades or smash the turrets with breach axes and they will be destroyed before they explode.
In practice, I have never been able to pull it off, they always seem to explode anyways. Maybe it's one of my mods.
My method is to build a wall on all four sides, that should protect it from explosions. The catch is you're at risk while building so you need to micro a lot, and you can't save anything that has a side touching a turret like the one on the right.

Yeah depending on the building. Good job matching the timing with the grenades then. For me at least, turrets will either explode or they won't no matter how fast I kill them.
Well, I've never managed to hit it that fast though. Grenades especially tend to veer off course and hit the power cells or fall short of the turret.

chemfuel is much easier to create at scale and is far more work/time efficient than any other power source, requiring only ~9 tiles of corn per generator to run forever or 1 boomalope per ~2.5 geneators, it is also actually almost 3 times as efficient to covert wood into chemfuel for generators than it is to just use a wood generator

Note that you can't just blow up Trader Ships and have them spill out all their inventory like a loot pinata

Why does it feel like default xenotypes were designed only as enemies? Piggers, 'thals and impids only have abilities that enhance a raid, but are straight trash compared to baseliners if you recruit them. Then there are dirtmoles and genies which are just worthless, it's nothing but "baseliner with a skewed skill roll"

Piggers are really good early on if you're doing a naked brutality/tribal run. Can eat raw food, beat animals to death with a club, and won't die due to an infection. Some of their genes are good to rip, but yeah long term they are of lesser quality. Impids? Yeah they're pretty shit unless you are playing hot biomes. Better to just rip their extremely useful gene for fast legs. Fire breath can be useful too in low tech. Genies? Crafting kings not to be undestimated since they can maintain 20/20 crafting. It will take awhile to rip all their useful genes though since there are so many on them. Dirtmoles? Definitely the least useful.

I played with it on for 5 years with 300 mods and the only bug I found so far is that it breaks Rimdeed for some reason, the hired colonist just never arrive, I tested it with nothing but it and rimdeed loaded.
It also does not work with Biome Transmutations once you have laid new floors, but Biome Transmutations is not even on workshop anymore
If you do not have available storage space between levels pawns can endlessly "stand" around because they are looking to haul between levels but no storage space, so you should always pay attention to that
It is honestly completely playable and I did not even notice any performance drops

Yeah, the only real issue I have with Ratkin is that their litter size. A few pregnant Ratkin will brap out the little ones so quickly that if you're not careful you quickly end up with a colony where the number of babby and children are 3x or more the number of adult Ratkin in the colony. I think the reason for bloat mods is mod authors trying too hard to make the next big thing, only to overcompensate with a million different features, that only a handful of players would use or want everything.

Use it sparingly with other heavy mods. I LOVED my ROM runs but ROM is finnicky and editing pawns in CE will break it if you're a cheater. It will also lag unavoidably, so if you use it I'd forego Rim War and use Dynamic Diplomacy in it's place if that's on your load order. If you absolutely feel like you have to use RJW go ahead but you'd be lucky to get over 100TPS in a raid and 200TPS after one.
Someone made a stripped version of Jecs for it, so it shouldn't be as severe as 1.4 and before but it's definitely heavy.

I disagree, I used Rimefeller for longest time and I came to switch off from it. If you just want chemfuel and power and do not want all the extra features of Rimefeller like Napalm and Synthahides then VE chemfuel is better.
It is also honestly just faster to use and set up in general, once you build a pump it is automatic whereas in Rimefeller you need to drill which takes a lot of steel and depending on your builders can take weeks of drilling.
To be clear I do not think Rimefeller is bad, all Dubs mods are great, I just prefer VE version and find it less bloat
Nutrient Paste not sure what to explain, it is a piped food network and I cannot stop playing without it.

I feel like a lot of Oskar's mods are far less bloat than stated, but others are far more bloated. Chemfuel and Nutrient Paste aren't bloat, VFE Settlers has little bloat, VRE Sanguophages has some bloat but not a super annoying amount, Memes Expanded's entire purpose is bloat (so only people who want it play with it), but his later mods? Oh God, VFE Medieval 2 and Insects 2 are a mockery of his older releases, VFEM2 in particular is bugged to hell on top of the bloat.

Personally, I like CeleTech Arsenal MKIII (and its predecessor Celestial Manufacturing Cooperation MKII).
I think the designs are super cool. However, it's slightly bloaty and fairly overpowered.
Not only are the guns very accurate, some of them even fire shield penetrating EMP rounds.
Some people might find this cheaty, but I enjoy wrecking mechanoids with those guns.

nta but the default settings create way too many mothballed world pawns (I think over 10 per title?) and generally speaking more pawns = more opportunities for save data corruption if you don't keep your load order exactly the same. not exactly an oskar problem but you should still reduce the amount of empire pawns generated per title down to something more reasonable like 4-8.

OG modded Cities skylines ate all my 32gb ram, took 40 mins to load a long standing city and refused to load unless I increase file catching to 150gb

My 1.4 install eats 18gb ram after load and if I reload a save it hogs another 6 gigs every time I reload a save until my pc runs out of ram.
I was considering upgrading to 64GB until I updated to 1.5
My current 1.5 install is way more stable, specially after optimizing textures on Rimpy
it only eats about 5.5GB while running. It used to eat 18gb while runing before optimizing textures. I can finally gen AI slop while playing Rimworld
