Essentially the powerpoint presentation prefab in the world lets you click between the individual frames of the video like a powerpoint (hahaha) but you can also play regular videos on the prefab as well.

I keep making cozy memories, both with old and new people. Got no doubts I'll think back to today in a couple years and I'll find lots of things to remember fondly. I've got myself a Nemesis and some clothes. Didn't think too much about it at first, then I've started putting together an avatar, and I honestly can't remember the last time i had so much fun doing that

WRC NEWS

I've set a single two-week long event, a rare Rally2 class literally WRC2, except a couple extra cars in Latvia. After that, I'll set up a longer set of increasingly more difficult events in one long championship - starting from slow and easy 60's cars on short stages, through FWD kit cars and low rally classes, all the way up to stupid fast hybrids and RWD Group B on rainy asphalt.

Maybe once they release halo mount. My BSB2 is probably less comfortable than Index overall, gasket is heating up, and the gasket shape is less than optimal. Requested another one already, but it won't help with heat. Audio strap is an issue every time I put the headset on, and then displays are also meh.

I'll keep using it, I like it, I can't wait for this halo mount, but I wouldn't recommend it as a pinnacle of comfort. It's amazing how light it is, but that's the only thing it has going for itself.

Okay so I've wanted to do a longer post about these for a bit but held off since the people who made these made a gen 2 of the gloves addressing issues with gen 1 and sent it to us for free and I was still waiting for it to arrive.

It was, unsurprisingly, not very good. If you are frustrated with the amount of time it takes to get your trackers on and get in VR, this adds another few minutes to get the gloves on, the software up, calibrate, etc..

I'll make another post once the gen 2s are in but I'm not expecting a miracle. Finger splaying was pretty cool though.

FWIW, if you're already the type of person that straps FBT trackers on your feet, your hip, your chest, and your elbows and knees, and then also sticks a tracker on top your deprecated zucc headset to align the playspaces AND runs some ungodly amalgamation of OSC router software and shit on your $4000 gaymen PC, all so you can be an anime grill; then you might actually like the udcraps. While they don't track your hand perfectly (no crossed fingers), they still track well enough to be compelling (and certainly well enough considering all of vrchat's network smoothing). And after years of firmly grasping controllers, it's a nice feeling to just reach out and grab stuff and throw it. In webm related I did manage to play some piano with them on too.

However, I think some of the other gloves (EOZ) might have theoretically better technology for a similar/better price. udcraps are just bend sensors essentially, one on each digit and a couple across the palm/knuckles to sense splay. Whereas eoz I think are IMUs on each digit.

I dunno if it's required, but I think some people do it. I haven't used mixed-playspace tracking since FBT with the oculus rift though, where you had to wave the controller+tracker in funny figure-8s for them to align.

These days I can't be fucked to even put on FBT anyway. So that's why somebody more motivated might actually like the gloves. Again, the little joystick/buttons on the side of your index finger is super convenient and keeps your hands in a way more natural position when you're just sitting around and talking/gesturing occasionally. But it's a pain. Plus if you're zucced anyway there's camera hand tracking.

liltoon is an illustration/fx shader for characters first and foremost and it's features and masks are setup as such
it just happens to have good stylized PBR features that can produce good results

I actually genuinely hadn't even considered to use a translation tool for technical documentations because whenever I had used one years ago, they were pretty bad. The QPro controllers have 3 cameras each but they perform like shit.

The problems are several-fold, first on a controller you are much more likely to occlude the cameras and the motion can also be much faster than the motion of a headset. I suspect motion blur is a huge problem for controller cameras since they have to be smaller and lower power as well.

Its not as simple as forwarding position data either, you need to align the playspaces of the controllers and the headset which means you also need to be forwarding visual landmarks across in a way that they can be cross-referenced between devices.

A ton of people claim visual slam is better than lighthouse tracking but the problem is that failure mode of visual tracking is so bad and ranges from 30-60s recovery time to requiring a complete restart. Lighthouse trackers will be back within 0.5s of contact with a base station.

It's not a pbr shader but the PBR properties are based on google filament project and the unity standard shader..
The PBR properties are there to enhance/blend with a stylized toon/illustration setup, they just happen to be really good

The shading preserves/prioritises your material colours over environment
Good for toon/illustration bad for accurate PBR

Shadow setup is very versatile, it has fast subsurface scattering built in for example

This is a push for mass market VR adoption, not so much a tech push so think of compactness (no need for additional devices for body tracking) and ease of use as well as digital content availability. It's aim is also to attract content creators for models, Frames and Homes.

I have an oled in BSB2 and it sucks. Dim, smudgy, colors are honestly not all that impressive, it just sucks all the way through. I was hyped about oled, but after experiencing this, I come to the conclusion that I'd rather prioritize quality in brightly lit areas over perfect blacks. Give me a chance to rip out index displays and put them into BSB, I'll do it.

Then again, I'm sure oled as technology can do better than that, it's probably BSB specifics.

OLED is awesome. I'm surprised you don't think the colors are impressive since that's the one thing the Bigscreen Beyond displays does really well. Comparing the colors to my LCD headsets is an absolute joke, Beyond wins hands down.

But the other stuff you mentioned I agree with. The display is too dim, and looking around causes smudging/persistence. Perfect blacks don't wow as much as they should because the screen is dim and turning up the brightness increases the smudging effect too much.

Even putting aside the paid DLC for an unfinished game thing; The missions feel a little buggy and lacking the polish that should have been picked out during basic testing. For example the gas station map has a window that is opaque and hideously textured but enemies will shoot you through it. One of the reviews points it out and it caught me out too so I don't see how the devs couldn't have noticed the problem. Early access or not, I don't think it's too much to ask for a paid DLC to be launched in a less jank state than the free game updates.

Otherwise the addition of civilians, booby traps, police skins, new voice lines and the ending music for each mission are all pretty good.

What ultimately spoils it is that it's seperate from the base content. You can't add civilians or booby traps to the bank or use the new social area before playing the old maps. Worst of all, right now the new maps are limited to 6 players due to only having the option for crossplay lobbies. 8 player PCVR is absent with only a vague answer from the devs on whether it will be added, when it should be there from the start.

We can take unitypackages but you'll have to figure out how to get it to us yourself; the submission tool only works on VPM packages. IMO it's worth figuring out how to get your game into a package properly; it's overall nicer for users of your prefab even if it's annoying to set up at first; that's why all the major prefabs like video players use VPM.

I don't think you need a separate OnDeserialization() method if you're using the FieldChangeCallback for a specific variable. If you do add an OnDeserialization(), it'll run in addition to any field change callback you have. Which could be useful if you want specific things to happen for specific fields but also a general thing to happen if anything gets updated.

FWIW you don't have to implement OnDeserialization at all, even with manual sync. The variables get updated in the background regardless. so if your behaviors handles updated variables some other way (e.g. only reads the current value on Interact) you might not need it.

If you do figure out the EAC error thing, post it in the thread and I can add it some sort of debugging page in the docs.

A brief history of /v/ is that it was created in 2005 to discuss video games, but it rapidly started to devolve in to the de-facto SFW /b/ because /b/ was unusable who was no longer enamoured with the brief honeymoon period of anonymous posting. "Night time /v/" was still a thing until maybe 2009 which is when the timezones aligned in such a way that the board was actually on-topic and good for a few hours each day. The off-topic posting became worse and worse as /b/ further declined, but the hostility to video games also increased from retarded console wars to accusing anyone of actually talking about games of being a shill. This peaked in 2011 when the mods were pinning completely off-topic threads and randomly banning video game posts. /vg/ was created to contain the only remaining video game discussion which was in the form of "general" threads that would be remade the moment they died. I stopped using it at that point, but I think the next chapter was the mods spending all day shutting down political content during Gamergate. The few times I've looked since, it seems to just be entirely video game themed meta threads.

What are your predictions? I'm thinking stream frame is going to be a standalone hmd, with remote computing services(either its your pc or a remote server). Able to stream any steam game available, sometimes convert flat games to 3d. maybe share/view games together with others in VR. The standalone part is probably just very basic. maybe some passthrough or small compute apps. With "apps" or overlays being a "Frame". I do hope they allow multiple "Frames" or even main applications, unlike the current steamVR/openxr implementation. Its probably a given though, since they are looking at what apple is doing.

When you're making a pioneer product that doesn't exist otherwise years before anyone else even tried then yes? A new pair of the bottom of the barrel quest 3 controllers is $150 and they have half the features. A new pair of vive controllers is like 250. A pair of quest pro controllers are 250. Stop larping like $300 is an abhorrent price. The quality control on them and design could have definitely been better but you can't even objectively say they're a horrible deal given that they will generally survive 2k+ hours before dying and aren't much more expensive than other options while having the only viable controller based finger tracking solution that exists. The closest comparable product that exists to index controllers (etee) are over $400 usd and there is a reason nobody talks about them.

You're getting standalone ability for market viability, wireless PCVR, and so they can do SLAM tracking, eyetracking, ASW, and handtracking or any kind of lidar or depth sensing on the headset if that's on the table. Headsets without SOCs have limitations and it's not 2019 anymore

By buying the 15 dollar knuckle straps, retard. Knuckles fucking suck for throwing things because unlike the real world where you have fine control over releasing things by opening your hands via an entire lifetime of practice, the sensor estimations are dramatically more imprecise. This isn't even getting into common problems like how convincing the knuckles that I've fully extended my pointer finger and not just merely uncurled it a bit takes staring at the damn thing and flexing it 20 times while it tries to recalibrate, much less any of the lower fingers where it's even less precise.

It's still a meme for skinned stuff (full models or clothing) and for like full environments (buildings/maps/worlds) though, which is what most people care about.
