Daily reminder - space 4x with less than 100 systems suck dick.>>539592173Nah, it sucks dick to have such tiny ass galaxy and to have "big interstellar empire" be composed of 4 inhabited planets.>paradroneSwing and miss, im Aurorafag.>>539591951Which is retarded with MoO travel system - with freeform hyperdrive those systems would be useless, with hyperlanes many of them would be natural, important stations planets or not.
>>539479024If you have any suggestions for friendlies or roster additions for the /civ4xg/ divegrass team let me know. A doomstack related player was suggested last thread and I've added that to the list of candidates.
Sexy cat people are absolutely realistic. You just have to believe. We'll meet them, some day.
>>539594681we really need a rework of the roster but the general is so fucking dead that I don't know what we could add
>>539594928Even if you don't know what players to add, you can always suggest new player models. It'll be easier once I get around to posting pictures of them and you can see how old some of the models are, like for instance Balanced For Multiplayer's model was made around the time Stellaris 2.0 came out and that's built into its model.
>>539594482and there are some like that, for example in the map I posted the one named "incedius" has no planets, degon went nova early on and is just an asteroid field now100 systems would absolutely be unplayable with these mechanics, and 100 is laughably tiny in the context of a real galaxy, there is no meaningful difference between 1 and 100 on a real galactic scale. unless you have in mind a way to manage millions of planets it's not realistic.actually I think there was a game like that, after the empire or something.
>>539596087Thanks for agreeing with me i guess..MoO amount of systems is ass.>after the empireIndeed there was. It was pretty cool.
>>539598118I'm not agreeing with you, I'm saying your superficial obsession with scale is retardedthe scale of moo is just right for the game.
>wanting to have strategic depth is "superficial obssession"Cool story i guess.Still, MoO sucks dick.
>>539599682what does a million useless system add in terms of strategy?
>>539599682complexity is not the same as depth
>>539600338In a properly designed game?Ability to hide, strike from different angles, need for establishing logistical chain, ability to do a proper defence in the deep, need for proper scouting, intel etc.
>>539604680one of the downsides of free movement is you can't really have a defense in depth, thats what starlanes give you at the expense of other things.in moo you certainly need to make a network of jumpgates to reinforce the front. you need to infiltrate spies to see what defenses they have, and every 4X ever have scouting.so idk what the fuck you are talking about.
>>539540543Nnnno, doesn't seem like I can.
Oh hey. No marines, but you can make fighters.Oddly enough, the icons are people, not blueprints or the ship itself.Odd.
Okay, I don't get it. There is... terrain of sort, with nebulas and gas cloud (why gas doesn't condense into liquid to then immediate freeze into a solid is beyond me), but also, there are... space walls?I'm confused.
Mmm, these big health bars drop easily. But fighters are pretty fucking useless, I think they're similar to the fighters in Gratuitous Space Battles and Sins of Solar Empires: very situational, but easily countered.
Haa, that's the building limit. Gotta keep it close to HQ.
Excuse me, "ship/biological" WHAT???
Oh fuck, the death animations are great. This game in general looks pretty good, but maybe it's my bias talking.
Oh.Ooooh. I hope there's a way to reduce enemy armor, or else, endgame ships are going to TEAR through early game ships. No way to recover HP so far, sadly...
Oh damn. So that's why fighters are good, they're ship, and can ignore "terrain". They can fly through asteroids, walls, and what else. And they can only be hit by small defenses.
...ha. So that's why it's called Five Nations...
Well, fuck. You cannot set controls ingame, you have to do it by editing a notepad document.Since I use an azerty keyboard, I cannot set up control groups, effectively making me react as quickly as a narcoleptic yellow submarine.
Okay, heck is a caster ship? And damn, I can tell this game is great, BUT... it has limited, finite ressources. And this stresses me.
Well, fuck.Okay, so, there ARE ships that can heal others, they're mid-game Pasteur ships, made at the merchantport. And also, even in easy, the AI is clever. I'm poking around to try to find its base, but it's already attacking my flanks, so...gg
Alright, good night now.

>>539629768No. Games deserve a step-by-step commentary to explain the mechanics in details.
>>539607613>the icons are people, not blueprints or the ship itself.Lame, but anyways, thanks for posting. When you get further on in game, could you tell me what all sorts of ships you get in this game?
>>539629768>REEE STOP MAKING CONTENT>YOU'RE PUSHING MY GACHA THREADS OFF THE BOARD
>>539640248From what I saw so far (and a little dive into the "manual", aka the wiki, dev please, move on to wiki.gg instead of fandom), there are (for the humans, mind you):- the engineer shuttle, who do all the hard work,- the freighter, who are armed (some xenos ships seem to have stealth instead)For the shipyard:- the fighters, who are cheap (50 metal), ignore terrain, but have weaponry specialized against them, and cannot be upgraded, but with proper support (aka a carrier) to protect them and repair them, they can be really good,- the orca, some corvette thing? It can be upgraded, unlike the fighters, and it's resistant to the first line of defense, but they're a bit slower. Make a lot of them.- the hailstorm, who is a missiles-firing ship. Little defense, bad against fighters and ships, but pretty good against defense, with a long range,- a bomber? I couldn't play long enough to try them, I'm gonna go ahead and assume they're like fighters but even more fighters: hit harder, even less defense... They seem to be cloaked, according to the wiki, but are also a fuckload more expensive, a fighter is 50 metal, a bomber is 50M AND 75 tachyon, another ressource you mine. For the merchantport:- Kutuzov. It's a deployable HQ to allow forward building.- Pasteur. It's the repair ship, with upgrade, it also regenerates shield and remove status effects. Uses energy, kinda like the Medic from that obscure game, Starcraft...- Teller. It's a... "tactical thermo-nuclear craft"? Hell, I don't wanna know. Also uses energy, think of an AoE Yamato Cannon. Probably.- Joseon, a support ship. Not quite sure what it does, apparently it's a pure caster. Think of the Science Vessel in Starcraft, but with a (small) cannon. Then there's the deckyard units. I'm pasting from the wiki here:- St. Georges, the Br*tish ship. Famous for the awful meal they serve the crew, and their obsession with tea. It's a carrier, so if you like fighters, you want one of these, or two, or three
Still for the deckyard units, there are also:- the Avenger. It seems to have a mark II version? I'll see that when I'll get to it. It's a battleship, this thing is designed to fuck your mouth until you love it. Commanded by a woman, for some reason, I bet she speaks with a German accent.- Dresda, some kind of "anti-shield, anti-fighter" ship? Not sure why it's so high in the tech tree, but I guess it's for when the enemy turtles so well that the missile cruisers isn't enough to break through. Then there are also "heroes units" that I can recruitable at the HQ, but I don't know anything about them. I'll assume they're just normal units but stronger? And what the fuck, the Renegades DLC added even more units to this? The wiki's kinda broken so I can't check these, I'll have to play the game again whenever I can.
To further explain the game, you have like... six ressources?Metal, the basic one. An engineer will carry 7 of it at once, back to the mining plant, and it has to be ferried back to the HQ. An engineer costs 50 metal, same as a fighter. It looks like gold.Helium-3, it's blue. Used as another ressource, mandatory to make anything that isn't a fighter.Tachyon, it's green. Used for advanced training and research.Energy, you get that one by building solar plants (+2/s per plant), or fusion reactors (+5/s). It has a low cap, and it's spent very quickly (I think a corvette is 75€, and every solar plant raises the cap by 200, so do the math), but it's unlimited. To my knowledge, you can't turn energy into metal or anything.Supply cap. Build more supplies depots.
>>539643434>Hero unitsSounds kinda like the story mode of Conquest. In that game hero ships would have their own unique models, but you couldn't build them like normal ships.Interestingly, in skirmish mode, while you couldn't get hero ships, you could get the individual admirals who were assigned on those ships in campaign. You could attach them to any ship in your fleet and order them to abandon ship when needed. Each different admiral would give some bonuses on their specific favorite class of ships, one would boost missile cruisers, another carriers, third would boost battleships, dreadnoughts and supply ships, etc.
>>539645289>You could attach them to any ship in your fleet and order them to abandon ship when needed.Oh, kinda like in Distant World...In Five Nations, the hero units seem to be just fancier ships.
>>539626326>>539628687The old city builder player was spaghetti junctions
>>539645772>Oh, kinda like in Distant World...Kinda, but instead of being just a portrait in separate menu, in Conquest they were a unit on field (small shuttle) until they got assigned on a ship.
>>539646218Neat. Anyway, yeah, in Five Nations, they're "just" fancier ships. Better stats, unique skills (like an AoE missile, or an electromagnetic pulse), and available a lot earlier in the tech tree compared to pure casters. Also, first win.
>>539594681https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BD_eV48dUZkI remember our 8-1 victory against /pg/. It was just after stellaris was released so the team was stellaris dominated.
>>539646807Also, that Rustom? Not in the wiki, so the DLC adds a new faction, AND more toys.
Oh. I could've just posted that and saved myself the trouble of writing >>539643176 and >>539643434.
>>539629768/indie/ saboteur detected
>>539646807There's something about this style of map and building placement that I find really unattractive. But actually it's just how any RTS looks, isn't it. It's a flat, 2D RTS with no floor drawn on a distant background.
>>539648413Sadly, yeah. And I suspect the backgrounds are randomized, because I saw some stars being closer your units than planets.
>>539648413This is my problem with the look too, it's way too flat. Empire at War has a similar look for their battle maps but they at least give some appearance of 3D space with certain graphics occupying different z levels.
>>539652101I think it's for the sake of clarity. If you want a 3D space game, I can suggest you O.R.B.
>>539653481It doesn't have to be a full 3D space game, it's just minor aesthetic changes that makes the game look less stiff and flat.
Back to work.I tire of working in France, French people are obnoxious jerks who think they're entitled to my respect because they're customers, even when they do really stupid shit.

Well doesn't that bode well.
Hey hey people.Welcome to Quesadilla - Fantasy Kingdom Simulator. I might have the name wrong. In Messada, you play as a prince, with kingly ambition, who is forbidden of leaving his bedroom because the second you walk out, horny maids throw their panties at you.So you have to hire heroes to do your dirty work for you. That means felling monsters, not plowing your maids.
Blackmessa plays vaguely like Driftland, in the way that you don't direct your heroes directly, instead, you plant fags deeply inside a monster's anus, and the monetary reward will influence how much heroes are interested:- depending from their affinity (knights are more interested in defense flags, while rangers prefer to explore),- depending from their levels (you better pay up if you wanna get Garrett, a level 1 rogue, to attacking Gromskull Whitemane, a level 99 black bear). But we need money before anything, so let's build some lumbercamps, who will clear the map and make some delicious brouzoufs for us.
>>539788729>good day, your highness. i am your most faithful servant devoted to serve you>now follow my orders and build a sawmill!Build a fucking gallows and hang that disrespectful peasant.
The rangers are definitely hotter than in others fantasy kingdoms simulators. And they get experience just by exploring, which is nice too. Sadly, they keep that nasty habit of fucking off once the map is fully revealed. Which can be a problem since this game features fog of war, so new monsters can pop up from the grim darkness to inhabit your rectum forcefully in a non-consensual way.
The guilds are definitely smaller in size, and feel more... I dunno, generic?I dunno if it's me imagining it, but there's definitely a Warcraft artstyle, I see the same things in Ale & Tale, and in Godsworn, some vivid, very coloured stuff with large stones buildings.>>539789230I cannot bring myself to harm him, he sounds like an old friend...
I think "packed" is the word I'm looking for? There's definitely something with the artstyle that doesn't sit right by me.Whatever, let's make an hero. Also by royal decree, every ranger is required to sleep with the Prince to get their permit. So let me enjoy my ginger waifus.

The game also advices to build houses. I'm not exactly sure why since I never had a pop cap issue, but hey. Free money.
The game still retains the same character progression than before, through equipement so far seem to be percentage based, so a level 20 ranger will get more out of a level 1 bow than a level 1 ranger will get out of a level 3 bow.
>knightsNo. Knights are noble landlords, they are killing machines trained from their birth to murder you. This is just heavy infantry.
As you'd expect, "Knights" have a preference for defense mission, and will accept it for less money than other classes. This game lacks the ability to summon them all back home, though.
Oh yeah. And rogues are a thing.Sorry, not rogues, but thieves.During the mission, I made 4 thieves. I ended the mission with 0 thieves.I would not recommend bothering with thieves.
Oh hey, the game changes how attack waves work. Now you're told where they come from, what's in it, and when, and you can weaken it by destroying lairs.Compared to getting rat champions on my ass just as I build my second guild...
Forge is... a bit of a pain, it only crafts bows, swords, light armor and heavy armor.Staffs and knives and what else are NOT made at the forge.

I wanted a bronze age RTS so I googled "bronze age RTS" and got this. It was cool but the AI is too retarded so when you learn how to defend and expand the AI is like a helpless babby. Is there anything else that scratches the Bronze Age itch?
>>539805506age of empires? which this looks like a pixelated remake of
Nice, squads are manually created now. Sadly they're very limited, only four of them. But they answer more easily to flags than isolated heroes.

>>539806224Yeah that game is definitely an AoE-like. I've been playing a lot of AoE2 in Feudal Age-only (because I hate monks and catapults and I can win by making zero soldiers, just filling up towers ever closer to the enemy with villagers), but it's too generic. I want something more specific to the drama of the bronze age and its collapse. Like sea peoples vs empires.
>>539807356aoe2 is middle ages and plays massively different to 1, which is bronze age.

>>539807994Thanks, I didn't realise they were so different, I probably haven't played AoE1 since 2003, I should try it again.
>>539808291one of the big differences is aoe2 has more anti-rushing mechanics, and lategame turns into castle spam. like you said the towers are very powerful and if used offensively basically break the game. your defensive options are a lot more limited in 1.the relics are also mobile self-driving arks (straight out of an old english legend lol) which can be captured like sheep, so there's no just sitting on relics safe in a church for the whole gameand there's also a victory condition for capturing holy sites dotted around the mapaoe2 is very turtly, between the more limited defenses and more active victory conditions 1 is a much faster and more dynamic game

there's some weird stuff in this mod. the squire unit, which is generated by a building and only exists to be upgraded, upgrades to pisan horsemen, then venetian heavy cavalry, then tuscan cuirassier, none of which can be built normally. this is all well and fine, but those units have the exact same stats as norman knights, florentine cavalry, and italian cavalry, which are units that can be built like usualwhy? why not just have squires upgrade into the regular cavalry line?

>>539985774Only your top conditional order will work. This wouldn't be that bad, but "refuel, resupply, and overhaul" is no longer an option. This means you will have to micromanage some aspects of your surveyors, something you want in pretty large numbers operating for decades across a large area. If you want to play your first campaign, play 2.5 or wait for 2.7, assuming there won't be a 2.6.1, which I believe he said there won't.The reason is that you can't continue a save across major versions, because those have db changes, which requires you to overwrite the aurora.db file which has a lot of the game's content but also your save data.

>>539968908They dropped it after like the 3rd rouguelite update. Now your only hope are the modders, which on one of Zades videos said they're working on something, but never shown anything for it.
>>540000976>they dropped itWrong. They finished it. >>540000000Where are you?
>>540001819Maybe i'm confusing it, but they had a longer roadmap of adding stuff to the game and stopped around halfway through.
>>539980852Anno without competitors. Orbit Economica you don't have to deal too much with combat.
>>540002012Ha. Then yeah, they dropped it.
Less than an hour until the EL2 launch, how are we feeling?
>>539999182>>539999493Civilisation is built on rape and sodomy.
>>540009676my civilization is built to prevent rape
>>540011390How uncivilized.
>>540011470*rapes u*
>EL2 Early access didn't launch with the ASMR dildos factionthey were easily the most fun faction that was only available for a week, what a shame
>>539998825>>540000976>spend years in development hell>release half-baked game>stop supporting it when everyone stops paying attentionMany such cases, but damn I really wish it hadn't happened to Homeworld.
To keep up with changing market preferences, one X will be dropped from 4X. Which is it?
what do we think about the newest stellaris DLC?
Broke my wrist or something. What can I play left-handed?
>>540022838It's not out
They finally add greys to the game and yet they just can't help but add unneeded unwanted details to it that just alienates people who want greys. Cause you know people won't think it's an alien without every odd feature ever glued on.It's okay to have simple creature designs guys. >>540023870It just released.
>>540027934That's just the Destroy All Humans aliens
>>540023301Same but it's both my wrists and not broken it's neurological
>>540023301I opted to play Dorfromantik when I burned my left hand cooking and had to keep it in water
>>540029695How did you type this?
>>540029695you okay?
>>540028919Speaking of DAH.Are they gonna remake the third game for PC?
Anyone played Beyond All Reason? How is it? I decided to try out Total Annihilation but then I heard this was heavily inspired by it so maybe I'll play this instead
>>540036582TA is still solid in my book but I may just be saying that because I grew up with it as a dumbass babyTotal Annihilation spawned a bunch of different successors and homages after their devs scattered to the winds, including>Supreme Commander , this was THE hottest shit for years after release, well 1 was. Supreme Commander 2 is not nearly as loved>Planetary Annihilation , some TA devs tried to depict solar system wide conflicts for maps. Ambitious, but felt stale to me>Zero-k , autisticly maintained by a super small group, like they just kept tinkering with the Spring engine, solid game for free, this was the newest shit until BAR>Beyond all Reason, an EA WIP. Can have traditional 1v1 maps, or way, WAY fucking bigger. I will never try a 8v8 or larger, but it sure sounds cool I guess. Two factions ready, 3rd faction WIP/mostly done, already is testing some extra game modes previous games had, You play one of these games enough, and the rest will instantly feel familiar
>>540036582it's a solid modernization of TA that is actually balanced and has a great AI, though they've started to make some unnecessary changes like adding factions and a ton of endgame units which don't really feel right.however as well made as it is, nothing can replace the soulfulness of TA proper.beware GOG version of TA messed up the dynamic music, and the latest official patch absolutely destroyed the AI.
is there a way to turn off animated portraits in stellaris because holy fuck those animations are so terriblewhatever life might have been implied by the drawing itself is completely sucked out by the shitty rubbery animation
Who's your patronfu? For me, it's the Instrument of Desire.
Grid/hex based games have no excuse to not offer abstract, stick figures-tier replacement for all the fancy shit that matters only for screenshots.Literally all games should have an aurora-tier interface as an option.I just want the game to not stutter late game/max size map.
>>540046584That wouldn't effect performance at all because they stutter due to shitty turn resolution code
>>540044293wow, big surprise, anon would rather fuck !slaanesh than !khorne, !nurgle or !tzeentch
Are the fortress things in EL2 supposed to be really fucking tough? I'm pretty shit at 4xs but I have to basically sac one stack to clear out the mobs and then clean up with another
>>540044293Instrument of Desire is the only one that has upsides that outweigh it's downsides (Haven't played with the rework yet though)
>>540046584civ has the strategic viewit's utterly soulless though, doesn't even give a good overview
stop me from buying civ 6
>>540050435it's really boring
>>540050435Lord's prayer this man.
>>540047335neutrals were always pretty tough in endless
>>540046584The excuse is that it's needed to get/sustain investments and without that you'd have no strat/4x games instead of a few.
>tfw have to wait for skymods to update to grab my core mods for Stellaris.Feels bad man, I wish the workshop downloader didn't give you shit downloads.
>>5400337353 wasn't nearly as liked as the first two, so probably not.
>>540054409>3 wasn't nearly as liked as the first twoHow come? I thought it was fun.
>>540056745I heard it was boring. To many active special moves that required the player to push a button that temporarily increases damage or something similar.
>>540056745Story was jank even by DAH standards, lot of missions were boring, frustrating, or both, dialogue had a lot of weird inter-line pauses that made it painful to sit through, co-op was ruined, buggy, and the last world was a pain in the ass.Gameplay was fire though.
I should kill myself.
>>540062707Livestream it please if you do
I can't even get to the new psionic stuff in Stellaris without my eyes glazing over and my attention being grabbed by everything that isn't it. The game is just so damn boring and stale, it's the same shallow "gameplay" every time no matter how many gimmick civics and origins they shovel in.And this is the best we got for the full custom faction experience? Lame.
>>540044293instrument of desire is overall the best of the old system, unless you were going to be at war constantly
Dustchuds are mega OP, the cathedral district is per territory not per city so it's 2 basically free pop per attached region that supercharges your main pop type which you can get by converting for free from pacified villages. Too easy to snowball.
How is EL2 for anyone who got it.
Ideal civics/build for maximum probing?
>>540062707anon no
>>540064856I usually nowadays just play the game in my head
>>540074045You're thinking too small. Probing is just an action as part of general play. You wouldn't ask for a best build for ship-building right? Some consistent things about the accounts of Greys is they need humans to better reproduce and they seeded/assisted ancient civilization for whatever reasons. So go Slow Breeders and Genesis Guides, rush Xeno-Compatibility or whatever it's called now, then start uplifting Pre-sapients to breed with. Assume probing is the off-screen part of the process.
>>540064071fucking stop it, bitch
>>540075181Hehe
>>540072650Nice, it's like we never left EL1
>>539906182erotohok and modded stellaris
>>540050435Your carefully tiled city, even with all the sprawl and graphics enhancing mods, will not look as good compared to a city builder.
>>540075067>then start uplifting Pre-sapients to breed with
>>540075426stop
Is there any point to using resort worlds in stellaris? I’m not sure what you’re even supposed to use them for
>>540079603Provides a flat amenities bonus to all colonies, mainly.Wouldn't really bother with them early game.
>>540078861Why>>540078861
>>540079603It's a late game bonus, at that point getting the bonus for all your planets is a bigger boost than creating another planet that directly makes stuff
Man I fucking HATE playing as a normal empire in stellaris. Shitty pop growth speed, faction bullshit, happiness, consumer goods, and worst of all being handicapped by your ethics. God forbid you want to do a chill diplomatic playthrough as I dunno xenophile pacifists or something well TOO BAD motherfucker here’s three genocidals as neighbors and you can’t do SHIT about it. Meanwhile you can play a diplomatic hive mind and at any point just drop what you’re doing and genocide your neighbor and guess how you get punished? You fucking DON’T
>>540044293After playing it a bit, while still too early for me to tell, I think I like it the most. The cutest is the Cradle of Souls, it just wants you to be nice and is nice.
>>540088073Cradle of Souls is cute! CUTE!!!
What's the most threatening Endbringers AI empire that I can make to fight against as Mindwardens?
>>540089603this is what I came up with, though it's more roleplay than OP
Any new alien/monster mc game?
new mindwarden colony ships are Goa-uld motherships
Just tell me if espionage is actually useful now, I hate how pretty much every game adds it in at some point but it's never good.
